The best Indian restaurant in Sheffield! Sawar is fantastic—always incredibly accommodating. We consistently order from here because the food is delicious and authentically prepared. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to eat

one hour and 30 mins after ordering,phoned the restaurant and spoke to someone who said they were on holiday. phoned again and someone said 5 to 10 minutes. pretty awful service.

food was not edible, there was a gritty/sandy to the food. spent £40 on the food only things edible were chapati and chips. Ive eaten from this restaurant before so I am familiar with their style of cooking and ingredients and I have not had a problem until now. I would say the gritty type substance could be contamination of sorts, so unhappy with just eat who will not refund or compensate me, had I been a sit down customer at a restaurant I would have refused to pay and request see the cheff

Food was good but delivery was extremely late. App said food was on the way and then delivered,so I called the restaurant 30 mins later and they’d only just left the restaurant

It should be done under the trade description act . Indian chef it must be worst food I've ever had it was really really salty . And when I complained they said they was going to get the manager to RING . But when he didn't I rang back and I got him he asked me what he should do.

I went to the restaurant with work colleagues The food was amazing well presented and delicious one of yhe tastiest Indian meal I have had in along time The staff was very friendly and polite I would highly recommend a visit You won't be disappointed

Had as a takeaway on Saturday. Arrived in super quick time and the pea and onion pilau, lamb bhuna and butter chicken tikka were all superb. Possibly the best curry i've ever had and we look forward to visiting in person soon for the full experience

Arrived cold…never had onion bhajis made with lentils 🤢 they were awful…roti undercooked and inedible…chicken in curry overcooked…rice dubious colours…£20 worth of food in the bin…never again

After a long day at work, I needed some Indian food to take care of me. Happy to have gone to Indian Chef at Crookes, to get a taste of Chicken Biriyani. The host Shivani was quick to give suggestions and the chef was also mindful to ask for my preferred style of Biriyani! The meal itself was extremely good and the portion size enough for one person. I could request to pack the remaining and eat it later! My wait time was very short, between 5-10mins. The ambience is very good! Proper lighting and off course Indian music to cater to your other senses. Very happy with my experience and would love to go in again and try other items from the menu.

Yet again, the food and service at this place is excellent. We love it here. The Jal Imlee Gost is particularly good if you like something spicy and Shivi is a great hostess! 5 stars!

Lovely evening as usual at our favourite Indian restaurant. Food is amazing and good value. Service is great, Shirani very attentive and accommodating, and we always receive a warm welcome. Taken friends who now also go regularly.

Honestly the best Indian restaurant in Crookes. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else. The service at Indian Chef was amazing. We came here tonight for my partners Birthday and we brought our 2 year old toddler Elizabeth with us. The server, Shevani was absolutely amazing with our little girl. All of the staff were super friendly and the food was hot and tasty. I would highly recommend the mixed kebab starter and the bhajis as well as the Chicken Bhuna. Everything in fact was really really nice. We brought our own booze with us which was nice too. Everything was just great. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Amazing food and service. Shevani (sorry I’m not 100% about the spelling) was amazing with our toddler, Elizabeth. The food came out quickly, everything was delicious. I would highly recommend the mixed kebab starter and the Chicken Bhuna. We had a fantastic time tonight for my partners Birthday. The food was cheaper than we were expecting. The restaurant could absolutely get away with charging a little more. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Extremely happy with our restaurant choice tonight. It is well worth walking up from Broomhill. Beautiful food, full of taste, spiced up to request. Our choice was Duck (don't remember name) from chef's specials menu - first time I seen a duck option in Indian restaurant and it was delicious, Tandoori Mixed Grill - all tender and delish, mushroom rice full of mushrooms 😀 Big portions, took some away as did not manage to finish and hate to waste good food. Fast service, very polite and smilly. Brought our own beer and canned drink from nearby coop, so zero issue here, soft drinks available at restaurant. Definitely will be back for more as there is a huge choice on the menu.

Booked last minute online. It was busy as NYE. Bring your own drinks. Great menu. The food was delicious. And lovely service. Was a little cold but it’s a small place and the door kept being opened. It is December so we were dressed appropriately so it was ok.

The food we had was absolutely delicious , lovey the chicken madras the depth of flavour is outstanding , as for the garlic naan so light & crispy could eat one on it own , wife’s chicken sagg was also very good same chef for 10 years was told , bring your own drinks or even call at the ball opposite and carry couple of drinks across the road they don’t mind 😋😋😋 Not been for a while food was still as good but was very cold in the restaurant having to eat with your coat on not very nice .

Awful. Food cold, Madras not hot and watery. biriyani too hot, the madras had pineapple chunks in it. Very disappointing.

Food arrived without chicken korma and had to call 2x to get this delivered too. No one apologised on the phone. Food warm not hot. Hope we can get money back.

Absolutely beautiful EXCEPT I had to reheat it when I put it on the plate sadly. It was just warm. Not surprising really when the delivery driver had it in the footwell of the car instead of the insulated bags that they are supposed to keep food in. I was really pleased with the taste but the temperature of the food was really disappointing. Such a shame.

Food was OK apart from we had a big hair in our food we got there for 8 the table was pre booked food didn't come out till 9.25 there was no low music the coke came out and it was warm it came out of a can from under side we was sat next to the door it was cold we had to ask for drinks overall I would not go back 3 people Brought back there takeaway as they wasn't happy wouldn't recommend poppadoms were soft and stale my children ended up falling to sleep As we waited that long

Thanks to Just Eat and Indian Chef I had some really tasty food. I was unable to drive so this was a Friday Night life saver.

Ordered our takeaway at 8pm told it would be 40mins 1 hour later phoned them as food hadn't arrived . They said it would be 10 mins it arrived 40 mins later . Order was incorrect. Rectified at 10 pm not good enough poor service !

Order kept being updated but took 1hr 20 mins from ordering to arrival and it wasn’t worth waiting for. Food was Luke warm. Prawn Puri, the puri was thick & rubbery. Quite bland and the coconut was gritty as not cooked out properly. The rezala was bland and salty, I skimmed off 6tsp of oil from the sauce. First & last time!

Shocking service did not get what I ordered and was not properly treated when I raised the issue. Just Eat we’re no help either. Food was okay but will never use either the restaurant or the delivery company again.

I ordered from here many times in the past and it was always delicious. This time it was absolutely swimming in grease to the point it pooled and could be mopped up with tissue, and less flavoursome than usual. I’m hoping it was just a glitch due to being busy.

The longest we’ve ever had to wait for a delivery . Ordered about 7:45 estimate 8:25 to 8:55 then after chase 9:15 then arrived at 9:35 Food was just warm but was tasty.

The food itself was delicious but we had to reheat it as it was cold as it was well over an hour later than stated. It came about 2.5 hours after we ordered it.

Not the usual standard. Onion Bhaji very dry in texture and no salad or sauce with it. No garnish with mixed kebab again very dry. Main chicken. Dishes not great either. Usually excellent but disappointed this time.

We have waited an hour for food to be delivered and when we contacted the restaurant they said that Penistone road is closed. Now I don’t know how that affects us as we are nowhere near Penistone Road. When we ring to find out where our food is the man told us to get lost. If the owner could email me to explain why his staff are so rude I would appreciate it

I ordered at 5:25pm, resturant accepted order and said delivery at 6:25pm to 6:45pm, phoned resturant at 7pm as no order arrived assured would be 15-20mins max to be delivered. Phoned resturant at 7:30pm as order not arrived to cancel and resturant said i was unreasonable and demanding and refused to give a refund! Will not order again

I usually order on Uber and there’s no problem finding the apartment but this time there seemed to be a lot of confusion. It may be my fault will check if there’s something that can be done about the address settings. I understand the apartment building is badly directioned on google/Sat navs. But main thing is food was great and hot. Best Indian takeaway Place in Sheffield.

Really nice, authentic, fresh Indian food located in Crookes, Sheffield. Decent price too for the portion sizes. Can bring your own alcohol but they serve soft drinks anyway. Would definitely go again.

The food was very nice, however the waitress didn't speak English or understand what we asked. The decor although recently decorated is shabby. No atmosphere, music was far too loud.

The food lacked any 'heat' but was nevertheless very, very tasty. Great choice at a reasonable price. No license so you'll need to bring you own beer. The restaurant itself is looking a little dated but the service is great. Will definitely be returning.

Ordered takeaway last night. Told it was ready to be picked up by just eat. Stood around in the restaurant for twenty minutes before it was finally handed to me in a off hand manner without as much as a *Sorry to keep you waiting" or any explanation. Really poor customer service skills. Meal was ok but luke warm when I got it home two minutes later

Food was excellent, best curry we've had in a while. Thank you. JustEat made me tick boxes for how late the delivery was, but it is Valentine's day, I was expecting it to be late. Delivery driver was apologetic, no worries it was worth the wait.

Not only was the food served nearly an hour after we arrived without any apology, warning or explanation for the delay - when asked, a waiter said ‘your food will be here in a few minutes’ 15 minutes before anything appeared - but at the end of the meal I was asked to STEP OUTSIDE by the manager so that he could complain about my complaint! He was ‘disgusted’, he said, that I had not complained politely and that others in the restaurant might have overheard. This is Private Eye Funny Old World material and was a first for me so I thought it worth sharing. The food was actually quite nice - when it eventually arrived - but don’t go there if you’re hungry and need to eat soon.

The curry was rather watery due to the vegetables they'd used in it. The delivery time estimate before we ordered was 30-45 minutes but in the end it took nearly two hours. I don't think I'll be ordering again.

The food took an hour and 10 minutes to arrive, when it arrived not all the food was there, we were missing 2 curries, we phoned restaurant and initially they said that we didn't order them but we did, they eventually sent the 2 curries we were missing, food quality wasnt great

Been coming here for 10+ years, today I ordered for Boxing Day and spent a lot on a meal for the family, was greeted by a woman in a parka jacket coughing everywhere who took 20+ minutes to take our order, they had taken our order wrong twice, missed things off the order which we had paid for, very poor service for somewhere we have been going for a long time.

We have eaten the food in restaurant and ordered a few times for delivery. Last night we put our order in 18.55 and was given an estimated time between 20.05-20,20. i rang the restaurant 20.25 to be told they had put extra time on their deliveries. I explained it wasn't showing on Just Eat, the lady who answered said it was because of the weather conditions. There was the teeniest amount of frost and ice on the roads, and we live quite far uphill and we could get about. The food came eventually arrived 21.10 so two and a quarter hours we waited. Guess what? it was cold! Won't be happening again, I have better things to do with my life (and £27.00) very shoddy service.

Ordered a vegetable curry from here with naan and mushroom rice. Delivery took nearly 90 minutes which was a bit long in the tooth. The curry was not greasy and had an okay sauce. The rice and naan were nice. However the veg was all frozen and for some reason they thought adding Brussel sprouts and parsnips to the mix would be a good idea. No just no. Christmas or not sprouts and parsnips have no place in a curry - much less frozen ones. Get some fresh veg in for the love of god. Will not be ordering again.

Didn’t think I’d ever find somewhere better than the place I’d usually go for a curry, however fancied a change tonight. So happy I did, this is legit the best curry I’ve had from anywhere. Food arrived piping hot. Curry was full of flavour, rice was gorgeous as well. Will absolutely use again.

Not been here for such a long time and it will be a lot longer before we go back again. We had a table booked for 8.30 and the restaurant was quite full. But that that shouldn't be an excuse. We had ti aske to order poppadoms and pickle trays. When they came they were soft so they had to go back and another long wait. Then we had to ask to order our starters which when they eventually came they were good. In the meantime a table of four guy's came in, ordered poppadoms and starters ate them and were eating their mains when we were still on starters!!!! At 10.15 we had to ask were our mains were and was told they wouldn't be long. I then asked if we could take it away as we had lost the will to live. When we went to pay the bill and i complained they wasn't bothered. Such a disgrace

Burnt naans ruined all curry flavours. Paying £2.95 was steep but I was expecting at least the quality would be good.
