We have been eating here for years. The quality of the food is always good. Staff are friendly and helpful. We keep coming back so that says it all!

Had a meal there last night. The chicken vindaloo was the best curry I have ever tasted. Not only that, the price of the food there is very reasonable. 5 stars for you India gate 👍👏

Great value for money. The food was lovely and a great night was had by all! We will most definitely be returning. Easy to park also which is a bonus.

Had a lamb rogan Josh which wasn’t very tasty, the sauce just tasted of tomato, not spicey pretty tasteless. Very disappointing

Myself and my friend went for a meal tonight, first time eating here. There was only one other couple there and us, waiter wasn’t happy that we hadn’t booked but said they could fit us in, it was 5pm. Within 5 mins of sitting down our orders were taken, and when I finished my meal and my friend was still eating hers, they came and asked if I’d finished and I had they took my plate away and I ordered another drink, she then finished hers, they asked if we wanted coffee/dessert we said no and next thing they brought the bill without us asking and we hadn’t finished our drinks., that was at 6.15, felt rushed out. Not good service at all.

Rushed meal, waiters hovering waiting to take plates away, were there an hour for our meal.

Awful ! Where do I start ! Menu was dirty and sticky , only 2 options of rice , the waiter was very rude and passive agressive, we were asked for our order soon as we sat down before even looking at the menu , food was terrible , cheap oven chips , frozen chicken in the curries , the nan bread was not cooked fresh , we order a garlic nan , couldn't taste any garlic it was cold and like cardboard , but what finished me off was when they cleared our table the waiters were walking around with a trolly with a bucket of soapy water to put the dirty cutlery in like in a school canteen , not a nice restaurant vibe , wish we had gone to mowglies, we went to a pizza restaurant after !

Larest: 5 Ja. Friday night visit with guys. After last visit I was worried. However food was good, service attentive and atmosphere good. Marked difference from last time. But why oh why serve cold face wipes, best not hand out at all. Ditch or improve the wipes and I'd rate 4 stars Previously:visit: oh dear, reduced menu, no light india music, the packet face wipe was cold Previous visit: Food was good. Service was slow

As usual a really nice meal and great service. We had to wait a bit longer for our 9pm table, but the staff were very apologetic and attentive.

Great tasting curry and friendly sraff

I have eaten here several times. The staff are friendly and efficient . Food arrives in good time and is a reasonable price. The menu is traditional for this type of restaurant, It does not try to over "Europeanise" normal dishes. Four chutneys are provided with free pupadums . Indian music is played in the background. A solid reliable straightforward restaurant.

SHOCKING, 13 of us went out and none of us enjoyed the food, portions were tiny, no taste, spoiled the night a bit, half of us went to McDonald's after!!!

Had a takeaway yesterday and it was the best meal I,ve had for a long time , food fresh well cooked and very tasty, also staff very pleasant .

Been visiting the India Gate for years and it never disappoints ... Delicious food, attentive and friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. No other Indian restaurant comes close to the excellent India Gate.

They charge 20p for bag even if you don't need it (I always try to reduce waste so carry my own bags) and charge 20p for the containers they put your food in for takeaways. The food was bland and nowhere near as good as others in Birchgrove Caerphilly road.

Have been going to this place for over 30 years when there the other night after a 5 year gap the place has place has gone down hill so much needs a revamp food gone down hill better places around shame shan't go back very disappointed

Owners from the lowest cast deprived muddy villages in Bangladesh very rude too proud big headed, horrible attitude body language, from the gutter can't change such a shame, WELCOME TO THE UK, A CIVILISED NATION

Disappointing? Bland food and limited menu. Busy so thought would be OK as neighbouring restaurants were empty. Service OK but another table of xistomera loud and a wearing and staff should have asked them to be quieter. Really not a nice experience

Just love the India Gate , the food and staff are so welcoming also have lovely chats with them. You can tell this Establishment is thriving as it's always busy that's a good sign. The india Gate has been my all time favourite for years. Great food Fantastic Staff.

Been coming to the Indian Gate for many years ...Never had a bad meal, yes it does get busy & there is sometimes a wait, but the meals are excellent ..All cooked fresh, none of the breads ie garlic nan are shop bought ...Wouldnt go anywhere else ....

The food was good, apart from the one rice that took a little longer to come and they couldn't do a special Naan bread... do they buy them from Sainsburys? Surely they make them fresh?

Booked a table for 7pm last night. Arrived on time - 20 minutes later still left standing and still being ignored by all staff. Had already approached 2 waitresses during that time who both told us to wait a moment while they cleared a table, both of them then continued with other duties and continued to walk past us on several occasions. Other customers were being treated in the same manner. A large party who arrived before us (and had booked) were also left standing at the bar and none of them were served a drink or being seated. After 20 mins of being ignored we left and went next door to Moglies and had a fabulous meal in a much nicer environment and very friendly place. India Gate Also looked grubby and tired and in need of renovation. It’s several years since my friends and I have been there as we usually go to Moglies. Big mistake on our part to try India Gate for a change. We definitely won’t be back there ever again!!!

Top class food without a "top class"price tag. Can not fault it

Starter and main was of a good standard I ordered a garlic naan and when it arrived it was just a plain naan and it obviously wasn't cooked freshly on the premises. It was like the ones you buy in the supermarket and throw in the oven. I did receive a replacement naan which was again a plain naan with shavings of garlic on it. Paul Hollywood would close you down!!!!! If you like a decent naan with your meal go next door to Mowgli's

Came here after not visiting for years and was a slight bit hesitant after reading reviews below however we had an amazing evening for my brothers birthday. We ordered a range of curries and sides and all were lovely and flavoursome. Staff were helpful in advising what to order and the service we good. Will be back soon, thank you!

Excellent Quality of service. Quick And friendly service. Clean and warm environment. I ordered Garlic Naan, Tarka Dal, Bhangan Bharta, Chicken Tikka. Everything tasted amazing. Chicken tikka highly recommended even my kids loved it. They are award winner for best Asian food and effort and dedication shows in there food.

I visited with 3 friends after a long day in our motorbikes, calling late to make a booking. The restaurant was busy but they found room, and looked after us well. The staff were polite and the food was reasonable quality - served quite quickly and we all enjoyed our meals. Overall price was under £20 per head including 6 drinks (in total), which we though was great value for what we had. If in the area again, I would definitely eat here again.

Found this hidden gem after a long day of rock climbing and were happy to stay open a bit longer for us. The food is exceptional and very well priced . The service was also extremely good and very friendly, with the waiter helping to explain any questions we had . The drinks selection is very good also and fairly priced , I spoke to a local on the way out and he said it’s the best Indian restaurant around and I don’t doubt him ! I hope to come back again very soon.

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for over 15years so it is with a heavy heart I write these words. For the second time in a couple of months had to wait over an hour longer than promised for take away. Food was cold and one of the dishes was of poor quality. With so much competition you would think that they would raise their game. They are clearly taking on orders when they cannot cope. They should be honest about waiting times. Enough is enough I shall not be going back.

Love the food the best Indian in town I reckon We always get good service the boys work so hard I did hear a rumor that when you tip the guys the management gets it and they do not keep it for themselves — that is a big no-no in my eyes If I tip a waiter I tip the waiter not the management I’ve been here many times and can’t fault the food at all they’re always very accommodating if there’s something you don’t like they’ll go out of their way to try and fix it

Very disappointed this evening. Booked in advance. Had to wait 35mins to be seated. Was told we hadn't booked, even though I had evidence on my phone!! Spoilt a family celebration!!

A true hidden gem. The food is superb, the service second to none. Ok maybe they do not have a boutique venue or name but you won’t get any better than here …. 😀 I’ve been coming here for 25 years so you could say that my review is not a one off !

I always praise good service A few weeks ago I went here for food. The most appallingly rude staff. I am beyond words. We will never go back ever. Shocked at the way staff treat customers…..I would have thought with Mowglis next door they would be keen to be at least pleasant to customers. Shocking!!

Ive just had a takeaway from here,pappadoms and chutneys were tiny, I’ve eaten in many restaurants and had many takeaways,house special byriani had 3 pieces of beef and 2 prawns, not good, never again.

As Indian restaurant food goes these days the menu and food was very basic. Basic in terms of taste, quality of ingredients and presentation. Service was ok. I won't be returning.

Had the worst curry from here that I have had in a very long time. We ordered a meal for 8 for 6 o clock. We were still waiting for it half hour later. On arrival home the curry was cold, and even more upsetting , cold. The curry was watery , and bland. I have used this place for many , many years ,and always found it a pleasant experience. Not yesterday. It was disgusting. I am an avid curry fan. Very , very disappointed.
