What a find! It was busy so I’m glad we booked. Wonderful staff who turned it into a real experience with their knowledge and passion. Food was delicious and authentic! We shared pasta dishes and had the most delicious meats and cheese with their very special breads! Will definitely go again, I am raving to everyone about it. Such good value too!

It was a little hard to find as it’s down a side street off the Beaton path. Small and quaint, the manager was delightful and explained the menu making great recommendations. He explained where the ingredients come from and the recommendations were perfect. Portions are smaller and it was perfect for my mom and me. The chairs inside are stools and not the most comfortable but there are booths on the other side of the table. Very small restaurant and good place for a nice quiet meal. Staff was very friendly and the food was delicious.

We were at Via Emilia as a large group (13 adults) - we were really well looked after, the food was superb and having taken the restaurant’s recommendation of the set menu had a great selection of food that all arrived at the same time. The waitress that looked after us explained the dishes really well and couldn’t have been a better host. Highly recommend and will be visiting again the next time I am in London.

Excellent experience, fantastic North Italian food served by passionate and knowledgeable staff. We listened to their recommendations and the cheese and meat pairings with the bread were outstanding. For main I had the anolini in broth which I would highly recommend, and my friend had Cacio e Pepe and both were perfect for us. All served with a delicious lambrusco (which could be a blast from the past for some) will go back again next time we are staying locally. Highly recommended!

Visited on a Saturday night. The service was lacking. Also, no pepper, salt, or parmigiano were offered. The ravioli we ordered, 3 out of 6 pasta dishes, were poorly cooked - chalky and underdone, not al dente - and lacked flavour. While we appreciated the charm of the old restaurant and its recipes (before 2023), regrettably, we won't be returning to this one.

Tucked away in the alley that is Charlotte Place an oasis away from the bustle of Oxford Street is the second branch of Food Riots, a small intimate rustic space serving authentic home-made North Italian pasta with choice charcuterie or cheese to start. We shared a charcuterie board with three slabs of pasta-like bread followed by a tagliatelle with a beef ragu, spaghetti with tomatoes and a rather extraordinary round ravioli in a piping hot broth. Altogether quite a unique experience with a menu in a strange primitive Italian dialect translated into English.

This restaurant is like finding a little bit of Modena in Central London. The food is excellent - assuming that you like meat, cheese and pasta - and the service is great (I always appreciate it when wait staff suggest you've ordered too much). The only slight downside on the night we were there was a large party on one side of the room: the marble topped tables mean that enthusiastic conversations get significantly amplified.

This restaurant is lovely and the food was delicious. We had the tasting menu which included the perfect amount of food, at a really reasonable price. However- the service was not great. We were only given 2 hours for a table of 12, and were rushed out when we hadn’t finished our drinks yet. As paying customers, it’s not our fault if you book tables too soon after each other. The waiter wasn’t flexible around payments for the group, and made us feel like we were being difficult. Given that I am from Parma and therefore I know a little about the typical dishes of my city.... I would have pushed more on Parmigianita', avoiding contamination with other typical Italian products but which really have nothing to share with Parma. For Parma purists, just seeing the Bolognese sauce is a small sacrilege. But I understand the commercial choice of having to satisfy Londoners and their idea of Italian dishes in general. I repeat, I would have expected a more typically Parmesan menu as befits any trattoria in our city. However, I give 5 stars because the local dishes are well made. Mine just wants to be a starting point for a further leap in quality.

It is clear that the place is facing difficulties as today we were basically the only customers for lunch. We have been before and is substantially worse than last time (circa a year ago) and completely a different place compared to few years ago. Today: - staff doesn’t speak Italian, they took ages to get our order because they were playing in the inside of the empty restaurant with their phone. Also the staff is probably the kind of server you can pay the minimum as they were clearly not professional or capable - focaccia (3£) was terrible and very old (probably few days old) - burrata (7£) was very cold and tasteless and super small - pasta (10 -12£ per portio) was probably 40grams of pasta. The taleggio pasta was tasteless, the bolognese was acceptable - meat plate. Only thing actually pretty ok, they have decent meat. - they managed to mess up even the water that they served warm on a pretty hot day. I feel that the owner gave up on the restaurant (maybe via Emilia is doing ok?) is very far from the old glory of the place and I speculate the place is going to close at some point. All in all very disappointing experience, mediocre and overpriced food most of which tasted old and taken out from the fridge. This is definitely the last time that we go - avoid

We came here upon recommendation from a friend. The menu looked promising and the restaurant is in a good location. We ordered the focaccia and bread and burrata to start. However, the focaccia was stale and the other bread seemed to be Sainsbury’s tiger bread. We ordered three pasta dishes. The pomodoro and pesto pasta were just fine. The ravioli was not good. I don’t eat meat, so didn’t try any of the meat dishes, and therefore can’t comment on those. The Lambrusco was good and we enjoyed the bowls it was served in. I’ve been to many great authentic pasta restaurants in London, and unfortunately would not recommend this one if you’re a big pasta fan. It’s a shame as we really wanted to enjoy this place.

This was really bad quality food, very pricey, super small portions and completely tasteless apart from the focaccia that was way too salty-almost inedible!! You had to have at least 3 pasta portions per person to have a normal size main course which ended up being 30£ only for a main. We tried almost every dish on the menu, very small variety for the starters. All pasta were below average. Burrata was also very small and tasteless. Very disappointing and had high expectations!

We made a special trip to this restaurant after it was featured on the London episode of Searching for Italy with Stanley Tucci. It is a tiny restaurant, and the food is made to order, therefore food service is a bit slow especially if you have a large party as we had. However, our waitress was so friendly and attentive and the lovely lambrusco served in ceramic bowls allowed us to linger over our delicious cured meats and cheeses while we waited for the pasta to arrive. The pasta is freshly made (you could see it being churned out in the kitchen downstairs) and the portions intentionally small so you can try more than one. We went as a large extended family, but the restaurant seems ideal for an intimate dinner for two, especially since the portion size and prices made it feel like more of a splurge.

Pasta was very good but serving size would be appropriate to satiate a toddler. They suggest 3 dishes for 2 people but more like 3 dishes for one person. Very pricey considering you're paying for 30g of flour, water and salt- even if it's handmade that's really all there is to pasta. Bolognese dish was speckled with meat, we could barely see or taste the beef. Left the restaurant hungry and had to buy something else to eat as we hadn't planned on a +100€ casual lunch. Recommended only if you're going for an apéro but not for an actual meal.

Distinctly mixed. Ordered mortadella as a starter, thinking it would come with bread or something. When it didn’t, I thought OK, odd but fair enough, so I asked for some. Rather surprising answer: the last portion has just gone (this was 8pm on a Tuesday, with the restaurant still filling up with people). We make it on the premises and the next batch won’t be ready for two hours! Me: no bread in a restaurant, that’s crazy. Her: I know!! All very breezy, let’s all share the joke. No apology. Verdict on that: Not good enough! Bread is basic, not a signature dish (though of course it’s great to have a special one as an option- it needs to be available at all times in some form). Main was tasty and well-presented however, and staff were very friendly when approached, even if not all that attentive even when place was pretty empty. Think there was some training going on, which was good to see. But the response I got about the bread was from the trainer, not the trainee!

I came to London to see Taylor Swift at Wembley stadium and stayed a few days for some sight seeing/touristy activities - I had a great stay at La Gaffe! I stayed in their single room, which is their smallest room. They openly advertise as being very compact, and it was...But I'm not traveling all the way to England just to sit in a hotel room all day so I honestly didn't care. But if you're traveling with a second person or prefer more space, I'd definitely suggest one of their larger rooms. My room was very clean...I wiped everything down with a disinfecting wipe upon my arrival (I do this at all hotels) and it didn't pick up a speck of dirt or dust! I prioritize cleanliness at hotels over room size, so I was very pleased. The room did not have air conditioning, but there was an overhead fan that kept temperatures comfortable on the two sunny days of my visit where outside temperatures reached 75f/24c. Breakfast is a plentiful selection of cold foods - they had croissants, rolls, bread for toast, hard boiled eggs, meat, cheese, and a selection of cereals. They also have condiments like Nutella/jam/butter, as well as juice, milk, water, and a basket of fresh fruit. The food and drink options were frequently replenished throughout breakfast so nothing ever ran out. They also have an espresso machine and will make you any coffee drink of your choosing, which I loved. I was perfectly happy with croissant sandwiches and lattes every day! The staff at La Gaffe were very kind. I tripped and injured my ankle while sight seeing during my stay; they gave me ice to help with the swelling and told me where I could find the closest pharmacy in case I needed anything. They also gave me good directions on how to get back from wembley stadium late at night, which I appreciated. Location wise, La Gaffe is great. There is a tesco express grocery store within a 5ish minute walk of the hotel that is open daily until midnight, so it's easy to grab snacks, a cheap meal, or a cold drink at any time during your stay. There is also a pharmacy, tons of restaurants, several bakeries, and many clothing stores nearby so there's lots to do even on days when you're jetlagged and don't feel like venturing far from the hotel. The hotel is a quick walk to the hampstead stop on the Northern line, which leads directly to tons of popular areas including Camden market, covent garden, Leicester Square, and Westminster. The walk back to the hotel from the hampstead stop involves quite a hefty hill though, so be prepared for a workout if you have luggage with you! All in all I'd absolutely recommend la gaffe to anyone looking for a great, affordable, no frills stay and I'd absolutely stay there again.

Just can't go wrong, beautiful pasta and the best Italian cheese, beautifully brought together to create mouth watering dishes. My go to is the truffle pasta
