Lovely little place. Affordable and tasty food. Calzone was 👌🏼 Couldn’t fault the service at all. Very polite and friendly staff.

My wife and I had really tasty freshly prepared authentic Mediterranean lunch yesterday. The waitress with friendly, and service was excellent. This restaurant is a little gem hidden away behind the Town hall. Well worth a visit. We will definitely be going gain.

Seafood paella contained gone off fish. The chef somehow tried to deny it but the dish smelt and some bits were mouldy inside.

Food was good but total chaos. 1.5 hours for starter and more than 2.5 hours before main arrived. Confusion over booking. Confusion over order. 2 of 6 main courses arrived separate from other 4 main meals. A shame because a good menu and lovely chef. It wasn’t busy that evening.

Probably the the worst service in the world. We arrived and they'd lost our booking. That should have been a warning. After we were sat down by the serving hatch we waited 45 minutes for a waitresses to take our order. Then, an hour for the starter to arrive. That only arrived after two complaints about the delay. Then we were told that the grouper fish we'd ordered for a main course was not available, so they brought out a salad an hour before the rest of main courses were served. By which time an elderly lady in our party needed to spend a penny, but the toilets were upstairs. Fortunately the Indian Restaurant next door allowed us to use their ground floor toilets. After another hour the chef served the rest of the main courses because the waitresses were no where to be seen. They had in fact already spent much of the evening looking after a young child upstairs, so hardly surprising he'd given up waiting for the waitresses to do their job. Another diner from another table came over to ask us if we'd been served, because after an hour he hadn't, and he'd seen we'd been waiting longer than him. Eventually, in dribs and drabs the main courses were served I had an asparagus dish, apparently on the house rather than what I'd ordered, but that was probably because it was a left over dinner from one of the other tables that had given up waiting and left. The waitresses finally arrived to ask us if everything was okay. Like, where do you start with a response to that? At the end of the meal, the chef came out nearly in floods of tears about the service and the delay. He said serving people was in his blood, and I'm sure it was, but it wasn't in anyone else's. .

Great house red wine, great appetizers and entrees! Can’t beat the Mediterranean menu!

Popped in for an early, solo dinner whilst I was in Marlborough for week. Interesting and varied menu, and the Moroccan chicken filo pie, dusted with cinnamon sugar, caught my eye. Really tasty and very prompt service too. Would happily come back when I'm in the area.

I booked a table on the 6th Jan for 5 people for 1930 on Friday 3rd Feb and received a confirmation email. We arrived to find the restaurant in darkness and clearly not open. I had received no contact to say that there was a problem. I had read a mix of reviews but thought we would give it a try. Fortunately we found another venue in town which could accommodate us at short notice. I will not be making another attempt to visit Il Gusto and would say to anyone booking be very wary.

Really nice food. Staff seemed a little rushed at first but we were treated well. Food really good. Very 'family' feel to the place and authentic Italian cuisine. Highly recommend the Calzone.

I posted immediately after our experience on New Year's Eve but - as it didn't appear on this site - am repeating it....... I made an online booking for an early supper for 5 people on 31 December and Gusto d'Italia sent an email confirmation. When we arrived, the place was in darkness. No one answered the doorbell or phone and we've heard nothing since even though Gusto had our contact details. Taking bookings that you can't honour Is a strange way of running a restaurant and we certainly won't try again.

It was a truly delicious Italian pizza experience. Congratulations to the chief. But another important point, Justine showed us a really great Italian hospitality in the service, her attention and approach was as good as the food. Thank you very much...

Authentic italian food !! Good friendly service, prices were above average but then I tasted the food, considering the food was fantastic the prices are actually pretty good. The food was cooked exactly as it should be, the flavours were amazing, absolutely spot on. Cannot recommend highly enough.

It took an hour and a half to get dinner but it was worth the wait (and we did have a starter in that time), I highly recommend the steak! And the delicious Panna cotta which was served with berries and strawberry sauce. There were only two waiters covering the restaurant, which was full, but they were lovely and served us as quick as they could. Go, you won't be disappointed! It was great value - three courses for just over 30 quid, including wine. They have an extensive wine list. All eight customers were happy.

Lovely meal, wine and ambience. Wine was under £20 a bottle and fabulous. Food very flavoursome. I was thinking of cancelling after reading some of the reviews- so glad I did not. Thank you to Arlind and his colleagues.

Saw online they had vegan options so after trying to call I booked online. Called a further 7 times without the phone being answered to confirm that was possible so went to the booking assuming all would be well. Having looked at the menu I saw they had ample ingredients that could at worst case, offer me a salad. After being seated for quite a while a waiter came to take our order so I asked if there would be a possibility of a vegan option I was told ‘no’. No, let me speak to the chef, no we can tailor a dish for you, no let me see what we can do,simply just ‘no’. Honestly I think the waiter had no idea what vegan was and simply couldn’t be bothered. So we left and had a lovely meal elsewhere. We will not be back and we will tell people not to bother. Awful, awful service. Restaurants seem to fair very badly at this spot and with that attitude I think this one will be gone pretty quickly.

DO NOT BOTHER BOOKING OR GOING THERE. On Monday 29th August I booked a table for 5.30pm Wednesday 31/08/2022 to have dinner with my son and received a confirmation email. I was travelling from Gloucester and he was travelling from Southampton. I arrived at 5.20pm and it was all locked up, in darkness and no tables laid which I found strange as the restaurant should have opened at 12pm. I then rang the phone number and it just kept ringing and ringing. I waited until 5.40pm and it was then decided we would need to find somewhere else to eat, which we did. Imagine my surprise when at 5.44pm I received an email declining my booking that was scheduled to take place 14 mins previously. A long way to drive for no food!!!!

If you want awful service then this is the place for you to come. You will enjoy dirty napkins, unclean tables, dirty glasses upon arrival. Should you choose the mussels, although 5/10 for mussels (food wise) you will not have a side bowl for mussel shells or finger bowl. Then you will be presented with your main, this looked ok, however not what I ordered! Was rectified and food again a 5/10 We didn’t have a desert and the wine was disappointing for the price. Waiters were scruffy and rude All in all, a bad experience although food was a 5/10 which was the only saviour…

Table dirty. Sticky. Dirty unmatched napkins on table. Wrong meal. No apology. Terrible decor! Weird photos! Food best bit - overall 6/10. Complained and couldn’t care at all.

Lovely restaurant with well priced good food. The service was wonderful. A special mention to our fantastic waitress Nadia who made us feel so welcome. We will be back!

Friendly staff was greeted with a warm welcome by the owner good food and excellent service with value for money food fantastic with great taste and loads of flavour nice and crispy and baked to perfection on the base I was impressed by how the manager and chefs listened to the sensitivity of my allegeries to chili and pepper and all herbs and was very polite about the whole issue Atmosphere was very relaxing and comfortable and Will definitely recommend the restaurant to other people and will be returning again and try the other dishes on next visit I gave the whole experience would have been a 5☆ rating but felt the waitress kept reminding me about the service charge which was automatically on the bill which should have been separate and optional but repeated it 3 times to me and I felt uncomfortable. very relaxed and at home they were playing lovely Italian music in the background that made the whole dining experience worth the visit Might be returning again

Enjoyed our visit the food was excellent, they were very busy and we think they were understaffed with waiting staff. Would visit again would suggest they need extra pair of hands to help with orders etc.

I like the starter but the arabiato sauce was not good.

My friends and I had a catch up in Marlborough the other night and visited this gem of a restaurant. This place was fab! I’m not often a reviewer but the staff were all so amazingly helpful and we each said our meals were absolutely delicious. So, thank you so much for the best night!

Travelled down from Yorkshire to Marlborough for the weekend, booked il gusto as our arrival day dinner and found it to be a fabulous place. Obviously, incredibly busy but this did not impact our evening, yes there may have been a few hiccups along the way but what we will take away is how these were resolved and quality of the food and wine alongside the friendliness of the staff. We had a fabulous evening enjoying every minute and could not recommend a visit to Il Gusto D’Italia highly enough

I ate here with my family on a weeknight. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and excellent service. Definitely recommend stopping by!

I can't comment on food or service. I tried to book for a party of 10. The online contact form didn't work. The telephone number on the website does not work. They did not respond to my Facebook message and didn't bother to answer my email. Poor performance.

Drove an hour away to come here with grandparents that are local to Malborough. Booked this table 6 weeks ago. Turned uo today, with a sugn in the window saying closed until new year! No communication. Appallingly seeing as though I had a reminder email sent 48 hours before hand!

Very bright lighting for an Italian. I ordered pasta was plentiful a smaller portion would have been better. Staff excellent

Quite expensive for food that's not up to it. Bruschetta starter was really small. My fish was a tiny bit dry. My husband's calzone was also a bit dry. He said his dessert was a horrible thing. The wine was good and the service not particularly professional but the team made an effort

There were 6 of us for dinner, we hadn't booked but they were able to fit us in. The staff were so friendly and accommodating we had 2 very hungry children and they prioritised their food even though it was busy. Our food was absolutely delicious everyone was really pleased with their orders and a good wine selection. Overall a lovely evening

Nice restaurant with friendly, competent staff and some interesting dishes from a compact menu. Standout dish for us was the crab croquettas but everything was good. Some nice wines on the list as well.

Pizza was nice and so was the decor. Service was a little poor as me and my GF asked for drinks / a glass and they needed reminding multiple times. Hopefully just an off night for them.

So pleased to find this little independent restaurant - the staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. I had the vegetarian tomato spaghetti which was extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend as we all had a superb meal.

No idea why this place has good reviews. Both starters and mains were flavourless and a real disappointment. Would not reccomend. You're better off going to Ask where at least the food tastes amicable.

Excellent service and wonderful food. We were given iced water straight away and the waitresses were extremely polite, efficient and helpful. The side salad was huge and the portions in general were great. Lovely vegetarian pasta dishes.

We had dinner here the second nite after lockdown and found the staff to be really accomodating and friendly. Food was excellent and the service was outstanding in pretty difficult times. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely lunch with friends. Starters were delicious. I had calamari, others had dramatic looking prawns. The mains were a superb bream, house pizza of stunning proportions and a classic penne. Waitress service was friendly and coped well with our characterful group.

Happily surprised to learn they have started doing roast dinners on a Sunday - with their own quality little touches. Literally one of the best I have had. So much incredible veg and fresh herbs. And all so well cooked. Amazing quality and well sized roast portions (chicken breast was stunning). Great value and service was excellent! Will go again and make a trip over especially. A proper meal!!

The mains were really disappointing. Ordered the spaghetti pomadoro, but it was just bolognaise without the meat in the end. Didn’t eat it. Ambience was non existence. Wine was good. Service was polite but bit slow in my opinion. No idea why this place has such great reviews.

No spacing whatsoever!!!! So very disappointed. No masks worn by staff who were however welcoming and very pleasant. Concerned looks by already seated customers when we were seated between them! No ventilation no thought for the current situation whatsoever. What a lovely place to stumble across! This was a busy restaurant and we had to come back 40minutes after booking but well worth waiting for. A nice ambiance and lovely staff even with a small problem with my wife's main course, the manager was very quick in reacting. Every staff member that dealt with us was professional, welcoming and politely giving great service. Great food with a very authentic Italian feel, made for an enjoyable evening. We definitely recommend. 5stars!!

Late walk in....found space for us on a busy night. Fantastic service, super wines and great food.

Booked a table for 8 15, waited in doorway to get seated. no social distancing, no drink whilst waiting ,finally got seated upstairs, got a drink straight away. when asked for a second drink had to ask four times .waited till 10 still no food .went home without any which is a shame cause food looked nice, our date night was totally ruined ,ended up going home getting supernoodles .complete waste of our time of which we don't get many opportunities to go out.

If you have not been, you really should. Always amazingly good food, fantastic service and it's not expensive.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We made a booking just in case. It's great because its open all day, the staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. It was nice to try other traditional Italian food other than pizza. Definitely recommend here and we will visit again too.

Been there 4 times now. Each time I am not disappointed. The food is delicious and the menu options are great. The service from all inside is friendly and I always feel welcome there. Having been to every Italian food restaurant in Marlborough, this is personally my favourite. Highly recommended.
