Worn and tired room and en-suite, cracked floor tiles, damp issues in bathroom. They have tried to cover up the tiles with plastic boards poorly installed. The bedroom furniture has been painted at some point and is mow wearing off. Could not sleep room was far too hot and opening the window was very noisy as dual carriageway right behind the hotel

Positives - Good location, very friendly staff, comfortable beds, decent breakfasts. Really can't state enough that the staff are all very friendly and helpful, able to do everything within their power for guests to have a good stay, but they are working with a building that, in just warm weather, isn't fit for purpose. The building has no air conditioning and only small windows that are limited in opening meaning when the weather gets warm the building heats up quickly with no way to reduce the temperatures (made much worse if you are on the upper floors with the heat rising up from below). The rooms only have one small desktop fan, but these can only move the warm air around. It's not even possible to position the fan close to the bed as the hotel has clearly not been refurbished since someone invented the concept of having power points by the bed. I can imagine that this is a very comfy and cosy hotel on cold winter nights, but don't expect to get any sleep if the outside temperature has been above 25C (77F) for more than 2 days in a row. It's nothing the staff can do, and this isn't a criticism of them, the owners need to, ideally, refurbish the whole hotel fitting air conditioning. If air conditioning isn't possible then they need to at the very least provide much larger fans and wire in sockets by the beds so the fan can be placed closer to you when you (try to) sleep.

Aging Ibis near the city center. The furnishings in the rooms are old and worn. Breakfast is next to reception and starts at 6:30 a.m. during the week. The offer is manageable. The parking spaces are free. Check in and check out are quick and easy.

All staff were very friendly and so very accommodating. Nothing was any trouble & felt all staff went above & beyond in their roles. You couldn't have asked for anymore at this hotel. Me & my friend were really impressed with the whole experience of staying at this hotel for the first time ever. Amazing 👏 We will most certainly be coming back to this hotel. Parking is plenty & free. Check in was so smooth & even allowed us to park our car in the carpark before check-in time which was a huge bonus for us as we arrived before 1pm. Even when checking out we asked if we could leave the car in their car park for a couple hours whilst we called in Chesterfield centre to have brunch & do a little shopping. It was no trouble at all & said not a problem for a few hours. We were even offered a free coffee or tea on arrival which was earlier than check-in time. Me and my friend were so touched on how accommodating the staff at Ibis Chesterfield were. Amazing stay over and other hotels need to take a leaf from the Ibis staff there. 10 out of 10 and couldn't fault it. Perfect location too. Room very spacious and a very comfortable stay over.

Recommended a by a friend. I just can't fault this place, seamless check-in. Free membership to their Accor rewards scheme. My room is pristine. Grateful choice of teas and coffee, all complementary, in the room and in the bar area. Inever heard a noise all night. Super comfy bed. And, £50 cheaper than for 7 nights than another nearby competitor.

Overpriced. The room decor was dated with peeling wallpaper and stained carpets. The bed was uncomfortable and creaky. The bathroom was dirty with a cracked sink and a rather pathetic shower that involved hugging the wall at one end to try to make the most out of the water trickle. The room was noisy from the main road next door and the small tv was bolted down to the desk giving an air of desperation. The staff were friendly and there was an electric vehicle charging point in the carpark which was a bonus but we won’t be staying again. You usually get what you pay for but in this instance the price should have been considerably lower to reflect the quality.

I needed a hotel that was cheap, near to Chesterfield town centre and east to walk to from the railway station and this hotel ticked all the boxes. Before you read my review I need to say it was ok and I would stop here again tbh it was just not what I’m used to. Im used to stoping in Travleodge and Premier Inns. When I opened the door to my room it was like travelling back in time to the 80’s, not seen a chain hotel like this before with lots of mismatched furniture. No USB sockets anywhere, No mains sockets next to the bed, the hairdryer was attached to the wall and didn’t work. The heater didn’t work, the taps you had to turn many times before water would come out. The lighting in the room was terrible, Carpets are dark brown and lots of dust in the corners. The lift was the slowest lift I’ve ever been in, don’t use the lift if you’re in a rush LOL. Despite it being located right next to a very large busy roundabout the rooms was actually quiet and I had two good nights sleep as it has triple glazing. It had free car parking which is handy if you’ve arrived by car. The major issue I had was getting to and from the hotel from town involves crossing a very busy road and there are no crossings of any kind (see my photos), its absolutely lethal as you can’t see the traffic as its around a bed so you just have to run. So if you’re infirm, then it’s not great. Good points Free fast wifi, works perfectly with Facetime. Like I said despite all its shortcomings I would stop there again as it was cheap and handy for what I needed.

Buy new beds as its impossible to sleep on a bed with a 2" mattress with a 1" topper.
