Hunters Fish & Chips in East Lindsey

This is our third visit to this takeaway, we have recently moved into the area. Today however our take out order was poor! Plenty of hard chip bits! I like chips..not bits..Half of my tray of? Chips was for me inedible. The portion looked good. But lacked quality I don’t want chip bits! I want good honest portion of food not bits of edges of potatoes!

Second and last time, fish was nice but my god the chips was so hard and small, I think they were just heated up, it was the same about a month ago so I won’t be going back there, it’s a shame as their open all day unlike the other chip shops in Louth.Hard chips

Food is fairly good, but today they overcharged me £1 and left one of the items off my order. I live 10 miles away so too far away to go back. This stuff is really expensive these days as it is so I'm not happy.

We had chippy tonight. Must admit was best we have had Staff lovely very friendly. Chips were great. My son loves there chicken nuggets

Three times visited. Three times the most wonderful chips ever tasted. Every single chip cooked to perfection. Crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside all the way from the very first to the last. You can forget ever having had a greasy, soggy chip if you get your chips here from now on. The fish is even better!

Visited Hunters for the first time in a while and boy has it gone down hill. Ordered steak pie and chips. To their credit the chips were great but the pie was appalling. The top of the pie had come away and was very hard and dry like cardboard. It had very obviously been microwaved at some point. The actual filling was horrible and was extremely salty. The bottom of the pie was similar to the top but not quite as bad.

40 minute from ordering to the food being ready. Couldn't believe it. I even asked for my money back but this was not forthcoming. The shop wasn't that busy so no idea what was going on - clearly need to work on their system.

I had some chips and curry and a chicken burger for lunch. Unreal food, curry sauce was the best around town, I highly recommend. Great service 5*

We were visiting for the weekend racing with a large group of people, the service was great and the food was very tasty and the staff were helpful and friendly. When we are back racing near again we will revisit ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

In times of covid and when you you can’t take your wife out to a restaurant, what do you do? My wife loves Plaice and many of our chippys in Manchester don’t do Plaice. On holiday in Authorpe and on recommendation from our hosts we ordered two fish,chips and peas, one plaice,one haddock. ABSOLUTELY FIRST CLASS FOOD. Great ,friendly service at a reasonable price. If we’re around this area again which I’m sure we will be, we will certainly visit this PLAICE again. Thanks again and it really did make our anniversary in these very strange times. 😄😄👍👍

Dont be surprised if you have to wait as the fish is fresh from Grimsby and is only cooked to order. The standards of this place are second to none. Outstanding, easily one of the best in the country.

Not been here fir at least 6 months, thought I would try again after the abysmal service last time, waited in the cold for at least 20 mins, still didn’t get served.. I’m pleased to see they do counter service now with a self distancing system with anti bacterial for customers use. Not a bad thing new staff their game seems back to previous. Food was excellent with a decent lemon slice. See previous review.

the food is always great and very tasty, and cooked fresh and the service was fantastic. they always greet you with a smile and always say goodbye i would and will recommend hunters to my friends and family.

We stopped to get chips with a minibus full of kids we had taken out on a trip. The portions were big and I struggled to finish mine. The chips were light and fluffy and the batter on my sausage was perfectly crisp. Will be visiting again!

Great food freshly cooked to order so can be a few minutes wait, but well worth it. Served in recyclable cardboard containers which keep the food hot and good to eat from the box or take home.

Used to go to Parkys. Heard good things about here, thought I'd try. Sorry Parkys, I'm a hunters regular now.

Takes a while, but it's worth it, fresh fish from grimsby docks, all cooked to order so not greasy or stale like most cheaper chippys.

This chip shop has gone down hill. There was only five people infront of me and I was waiting a hour for a average order. There was nothing prepared food wise considering it was dinner hour it would not be a stupid idea. Staff were very rude and didn’t say a word about her friends children running around riot in the shop. Also a simple request I specifically asked for a little lemon with my chips they forgot it. Awful chip shop no where near as good as park aves

Ordered large chips and sausage for my lad. It was hardly a large. Disappointed I also dropped them. Had to pay again. Hmmmm Tomato sauce is extra

I dashed into Hungers as there was no queue and I had to be back at work in an hour. Ordered two fish and chips . Simple. Clearly not. Twenty five minutes before I received the food!Better and quicker and indeed cheaper fish and chip shops locally.Doubt I will return

Friendly, helpful staff, clean and well presented decor, appliances, and menu boards. Offers a wide range of foods too. Not just your usual fish and chips but also pizza as well. Recommended.

Been working on renovation projects, need tasty food later in the day, the FISH is EXCELLENT, the rest of the food is great, but the fish is beyond, really like the slice of lemon. Been at least twice a week for 2 months, always consistent.. Enjoy .!!

This place used to be pretty good, but on my last two visits, two weeks apart, the fish and chips were disgusting. It's really gone downhill so won't be going again. It's a shame as the staff are really nice there.

Good fish and chips, friendly helpful staff. It is good that everything is always freshly fried but don’t understand why at busy times fish isn’t put in frier ready for customers coming in. The long wait does put me off going in at what I know is a busy times.

Passed this fish and chip takeaway on way home from hospital late evening was met with friendly staff even though they were about to close ,no problem cooked fish chips twice for me ,Fish excellent chips really nice pea s very tasty would recommend this place and will return.

Our family who live in Lincs took us here last night where we got a takeaway (large order for a few of us ) and the food was delicious. The best we've had in a long time to be honest. We will def be back and would highly recommend it. We had a large order for 6 of us and we didn't have to wait too long at all and it was all freshly cooked to order. I also liked the fact it was served in a box so it stayed nice and warm.Sandra served us and was lovely and friendly. The curry sauce, coleslaw and mushy were delicious to. The fish and chips are lovely, always have been. But they cannot cope with busy times. All the food is cooked as ordered,and as they only seem to be able to cook three fish at a time, you can imagine how long you have to wait when there is a queue of seven. If there is a big order including battered sausages, and special additions...... Well.....I had to wait 35 minutes for my order to be taken.

Until recently stopped eating fish & chips, popped in one early evening to order, noticed they had reintroduced the little piece of lemon, .. also little pots of pickled seafood available while they cook your fish to order. (Always nice freshly cooked) pleasant service, clean, & easy to park.

The fish and chips here are pretty good. They’re not exceptional but good quality and pretty tasty. Perfect portion size, not too big, not too small. Staff are pleasant and friendly.

Excellent fresh food made to order. Would highly recommend this place as you don’t feel groggy after eating like you normally do with chip shop chips.

Stopped while passing through Louth on business today. Was good, the chips really nice and although the fish was small it was nice enough. Not quite 4 star so 3 and a half.

Been living up north for 10 months and not a saveloy in sight in the local chippys. Was begining to think I would not see one again. Went to hunters for first time a week ago and there in the warmer my favorite saveloys.

I was raised on the East Marsh My family was connect to the Fish Game....We certainly know about good fish .....and good fish is what you get here !!!!!I I have never been dissappointed on our regular visits The fish is allways freshly fried as you place your order oh and the chips arent bad either !, The first thing we do on our return from France is to call in Hunters and get some fish and chips for our tea.The place is very clean ,modern and inviting.Roll on Friday.......

Had the haddock chips and mushy peas. The fish was fresh and cooked well. The batter wasn't to greasy along with the chips. The peas were good too.

First time of trying this place. Ordered haddock and chips with curry sauce. Was excellent! The batter was crisp but not too thick. Chips were free of grease and the curry sauce was a great addition. The service was a little slow as they were busy. A good sign I guess. Pleasant staff! Would definitely use again.

In general this place is excellent, very fresh food and good service. On the odd occasion the service does slip, I was ignored once whilst the fryer served her mates first and then continued to pray about with them whilst I waited! Will return but couldn't give 5/5 for this reason.

Had to wait for food to be cooked. while talking to staff one of them was rubbing her nose and not washing her hands before serving food

When this first opened it really was a good chippy.... fair amount of good chips, and the cod was always very nicely cooked and of generous, normal size, so we bought regularly from here. Unfortunately, in our opinion, it has now gone down hill since the end of last year (2016), and everything about this chippy is now really awful. Waiting time can be up to 25 minutes whilst they make up an incredibly long pre-order of 10 plus meals for collection (and I only wanted one bag of chips on this particular afternoon!).

Well I expect a wait for this place as it mainly cooks to order.25 to 30 minutes today for a mini fish dinner and a scallop and chips. No queue so that's not an excuse.Looks like the mini fish had been forgotten as the scallop fish cake had been in the heater for nearly 10 minutes before any boxing up began.Got home and no peas ! Majority of the chips were rock hard slivers of fried potato.The forgotten fish on the other had was ok.Gone downhill gradually since it opened, won't be using again.

Stopped off for lunch today excellent service and food. The Irish curry was nice as well. Will definitely going to the Lincoln branch very soon and will be back here when in Louth.

Been meaning to write a review for this place for ages. Since it first opened I've visited it 5 times now & wonder why I go back. Only once I've had food from there that resembles something as reasonable, other visits have been where the fish was over cooked, chips very well done (burnt?) sausage like leather (overcooked), and having to wait ages for the meal to be cooked, surely they would know when the busy times are & get some pieces of fish cooked ready. This place isn't cheap either, they charge alot more than the other chippies in the town. If you want to see how its done & at a reasonable price try visiting Parkinsons in the town.

Sorry. The food looked appetising. If only I could get my hands on it... an exercise in how not to run a chip shop? Utter chaos.

Love it, freshly cooked and friendly staff. Although we have to travel it is the only fish and chips that we eat locally,

I've been in a few times and mainly because it's on the way home. There always seems to be a long wait (some times up to 30 minutes) also it's pretty expensive even compared to other places I have fish and chips as a sit down meal. To sum it up the food is nice but at an expense and excessive wait also the customers services could be better.

Been there numerous times, mixed reaction on food eaten, sometimes absolutely first class, other times just average..
