Agree wholeheartedly with the negative reviews re the atmosphere (or lack of it), coffee and daytime menu. However the fish and chips is very good and there is a gluten free batter available

Abysmal. So sad that this restaurant/cafe has gone downhill so quickly since the change in management. The food was terrible. All of my breakfast was undercooked and cold. The menu has changed a lot and not for the better, and is hugely overpriced. I won't insult my stomach with this dire excuse for food again.

Disgusting. Hunters has gone seriously downhill since the change in ownership. We have been visiting for years, but won't ever be going there again. The food was undercooked, dry, disgusting, and hugely overpriced and the staff don't seem to care. Horrible customer service. Such a shame as this used to be a lovely place for meeting with friends and have a nice breakfast. Not any more. My advice - stay away.

Feel sad to write a bad review but Hunters has deteriorated sadly! Staff friendly but clueless. The food was dreadful,, £4.75 for one piece of cheese on toast, very dry no butter was put on! Beans on toast,, i sent the beans back as were cold,, they came back lukewarm,, friends small breakfast was lukewarm as well. My pot of tea came without extra pot of hot water,, didnt bother asking for one as probably would of been cold!

Was recommend for lunch, so we thought we would give it a try, wish we turned around and walked back out as soon as the two people at the counter were to busy talking to even look up, but thought no we would give it the benefit of doubt, how wrong we were, service was slow, no smile, and the two jacket potatoes we ordered one was grey and one was yellow, served with a side salad, some stumps of lettuce and two slices of radish !! on trying to eat they were both still hard and not cooked, called the waitress over who scowled got the chef, who then decided to tell us well they had been in the oven, shocking customer service we asked for a refund we payed for our two over priced diet pepsi at £4.80, such rude customer service, would never step foot in there again.

Really sad to see that this venue has gone totally downhill after the change of management. The prices have gone up (which is understandable), however the portion sizes have been reduced too - even the mugs are much smaller. The hustle and bustle atmosphere has gone. The warm welcome isn't there. No one seems to know what they are doing, very disorganised. The food quality is no where near what it used to be. The menu options have been reduced right back too, for breakfast and lunch. Such a shame as we used to meet here as a large group, we are now on the look out for somewhere else after 7 years of coming here.

Used to come here a lot and really enjoyed the food, especially the breakfasts. Unfortunately I returned today after not eating here for a while and I was shocked to be honest. Restaurant was dark, dingy and absolutely freezing cold, there’s was one member of staff (that I noticed) who seemed miserable. The menu has completely changed! Decided not to continue with an order and left.

Visited today for lunch. Good was really good had ham egg and chips was hot and delicious. But everything else left a lot to be desired, no welcome and felt rather sad inside. Lots of Christmas decorations up, but dead flowers on every table including the bar. The staff didn't seem to know what was going on, had to ask for cutlery and sauces. The manager (I think) was pacing around watching everything from afar and didn't seem to do anything not even help the server just paced. Be careful when going to the ladies, there's a small step and pretty dark in the hallway. As a pregnant lady felt pretty unsafe. Used to love this place, but seems to be under new management. Won't be back unfortunately

Ordered a Sunday roast today for my client. Food arrived meat old and dry out, few small cut up roast potatoes, 4 pieces of carrot, and halve cooked red cabbage. I work all over the country being a carer and order food on line for my clients. I must admit that this was the worse meal I have ever seen. Client ate a few potatoes that was edible…..the rest will be binned. Appalling is putting it mildly.

We went there this afternoon hoping to try some Iranian food. The menu consisted of just three choices. We both had the lamb kebabs which were OK but nothing special. They came with rice which was quite undercooked and crunchy. Where were the interesting sauces? Those who served were very polite but totally clueless. I don't think any of them had had any experience of public catering. the food was expensive for what it was. I am writing this review in sorrow, not in anger, as, being local, I would like to see the new owners thrive but they must try harder! The only good thing I can say is that, unlike underthe previous owners, the tables are no longer sticky.

Used this cafe for a breakfast on a Friday several times. Used to be £12 for a good breakfast with a hot drink included. Went there today and there are new owners, the breakfast was now £12.55 , less food and no drink included. Total price £15.85, won’t be going there again and judging by how empty it was I can see why

Wether its for a coffee, light lunch or a full meal Good service and choice. Lots of choice.fror all tastes.

About 15 of us attended Hunters for a wake. The staff were fantastic and really thoughtful. Even setting up the TV for us to show photos of our grandmother was no problem, this really put us at ease with how accommodating the team were. The food they set out for us was delicious and so fresh which everyone enjoyed (especially the warm sausage rolls!) 5 STARS Thank you so much to the team!

Tuesday lunchtime visit, it was busy but we got a table easily, I ordered a coffee along with Chicken Burger and smoked salmon for two of us, all arrived in a timely fashion and service was good. Food was tasty and I got a load of fries with it as well as opposed to your little pot some places offer. Service at the till is a bit slow as they have one person serving, taking orders and then paying your bill but nothing to long Good visit and would recommend

Attended a birthday party at Hunters bar, Stoke Lane. What a fantastic night! The food was amazing . The staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend
