Waited 20 minutes for a portion of chips, very poor slow service and no apology for the wait. Overpriced and overrated. Won’t be back here in a hurry

Ordered a 'large fish dinner' for £9.90. Very disappointed at amount and quality. Just about enough food for one adult (fortunately I'd eaten earlier). Chips were very bitty, had black bits, were wrinkly and reheated, and few compared to even a typical small portion of chips. Looked like day before chips had been mixed with a few freshly reheated ones. The fish was freshly cooked and ok but not very 'large', though bigger than the small ones precooked and on display (which looked very small). Lots of grease in the box. Cartons for peas and curry were small stubby cups. The cardboard boxes used instead of paper may limit size but there was plenty of room left. In the past portions were big with no waste. Now it's expensive for what you get. For a couple pound more we get 3-4 times as much elsewhere. Won't be ordering a meal again, and value might be better ordering individual items, but I can't imagine going back without decent chips.

Way too expensive compared to beþer takeaways in the area and quality is very poor. Used to be good years ago but new owners don't seem to care

Very good friendly service. Steph and Lynne . Always give us real good greeting.everytime we attend here. I recommend anyone to try it here . I cannot fault it .in anyway. Nice delicious meals when we do fine here. Atmosphere is great and Mary and I are regular visitors here .

Will never set foot in this place EVER again. I put a review on 3 months ago about the chips and today it was worse. Warm, reheated chips were so hard you couldn't put the fork in them. The fish was ok. Total waste of money n now feeling ill. Potatoes are cheap so why bother cooking bad chips? Got a dam cheek selling bad food. As i say never again

This chipshop was great when first opened but over the years has changed hands and has just reached the bottom of a greasy slope. rubbish overpriced food dont waste your hard earned cash in there.

Usually very good but tonight who ever is cooking the fish 🐟 its overcooked as tuff as old boots 👢 and it wasn't a one off cause all the fish were the same

Absolutely disgusting, so disappointed. Spent £34 on a banquet and all we could eat was the chips. The salt In all the dishes made them unable to eat and the prawn crackers were stale.I rang the shop the girl said the manager would call me back and guess what no response. I was asked if I still had the food which I have bar the chips. I might Post it through the letterbox for feedback. Please don’t waste your hard earned money On this food you will be so disappointed.

Sent my son to get some prawn crackers, he got home and they were stale. He went back and qued up to change them, when he got to the front they laughed at him and sent him home with the same ones. I called and the girl was apologetic but the woman in question wouldn't come to the phone.

I have always eaten Chinese from hungrys but recently have a diagnosis of coeliac. Went in to see if any food was gluten free. The staff tried hard but didn't have a clue what gluten was Some training may be good. Even if there were no gluten free meals it would have been good to know

Ordered a ham omelette and chips for delivery. Omelette was all ham virtually no egg and was over cooked so it was like leather. The “chips” were a joke. They were like leftover scraps and definitely not recently cooked. Looking at a range of reviews this looks like a place to avoid

Ordered online directly from them as we often call in and get food from the takeaway. It took over two hours and for us to call them to get our food. When it arrived it was stone cold. So we called them and told them how unacceptable their service had been and that we wanted fresh food and gave them the first horrible delivery back. After almost three hours from originally ordering we were able to eat. We asked for the manager to contact us so would could complain but no call has been received and literally not even a sausage offered as way of an apology. It was so late now into the night and none of us really wanted to eat but as a diabetic and having a child we didn’t have much choice. This business which is our local takeaway service will not receive another visit or order from us again. Let’s see if they ever have the decency to treat their customers correctly and contact us, I doubt it very much and in this current financial climate we for one are looking out for good customer service that deserves our money.

Have purchased meals from Hungrys for many years. Food not as good now since change of ownership. Deliver man very pleasant and polite but the meal disappointing. Hot and sour soup was good, but the crispy beef meal and beef with spring onion etc not good.rice ok but chips soggy. A shame but food quality needs to improve as prices have risen but quality has not. Hopefully next meal we order will be better but it won’t be for a while. Hope things improve. If not then trade will naturally suffer which would be a great shame

Stay away from this place not what it was nearly a 2 hour wait for food then the order was wrong .can't get refund on my PayPal but they can take PayPal payment

I ordered online this evening. I patiently waited for an hour before ringing to ask what had happened to our order. Chicken nuggets, sausage, and chips, so nothing tricky. I was told they had forgotten about it. When I pointed out that was awful customer service, I was told...."Well, we are busy." I ordered at 4.35 on a sunday. I wouldn't imagine this is their busiest time. 30 minutes later I rang again. I was told they had no record of my order and then put the phone down on me. I rang back and had the phone put down on me on another 2 occasions. Finally, I rang back and asked to speak to the manager. I was told he was out on deliveries but that he girl on the phone was in charge of deliveries. I asked to speak to someone else as she had put the phone down on me 3 times. I was told there was no one else, and she had only put the phone down on mr once. It was someone else the other times. She miraculously had found my order and said it was on its way. Our food did arrive nearly 2 hours after I ordered. There were 8 chicken nuggets instead of 10 that were burnt. The chips looked and tasted like they had been there for a week. The sausage was ok. The delivery driver who shockingly wasnt the manager was very nice and apologetic... obviously none of this was his fault. He deserves a raise. Olivia is rude and should find a job that doesn't involve customer service. This place doesn't deserve your custom.

A fish and chip shop that can’t even do fish and chips!!!! I occasionally call in at Hungrys because it’s convenient on the way home, generally early evening when they’re not too busy. Three out of the last four occasions I got home to find...

On just eat they rip you off. In store or on their own website you get boiled rice with Chinese meals. On just eat they don't when you ask for it they want yo charge you extra. Con artists stay away.

Hungry is exactly the word I would use after eating their large Fish & Chips. Won't be going again which is unfortunate as the quality was good.

Usually order by phone for collection every Saturday night, last 2 weeks ended up waiting almost half an hour despite being given a time to collect and watching walk in orders coming and going before me, annoying but not the end of the world I can see they are busy.This week, ring up to order and rudely told to order online with no explanation why they won't take my order. I can't order online as some of the options are not available and there is no option to omit things you don't want, so just didn't bother and won't be bothering again.

I am stranded in Fran.ce and wanted to send mum and dad some hot food as they are elderley and disabled. I had a problem and emailed them. Almost immediately I received a telephone call and the lovely genteman could not have been more helpful and understanding. I will be using them for the duration and when I return.

Ordered a family meal for delivery at 5:30pm, due for delivery at 8pm due to the Covid-19 crisis. I can understand the shop being very busy but it's now nearly 9:30pm and the food still hasn't arrived! NEARLY 4 HOURS AFTER ORDERING!! Sorry but we won't be using Hungry's ever again, even when things return to normal. It's diabolical to be kept waiting this long, this is totally unacceptable.

Sorry, but I will never use this company ever again, I ordered a delivery service, during lockdown, I ordered at 5pm, but when I never received it by 9pm, i gave it till this time, because I understand that it’s difficult, and busy for companies at this time. I rang up, it was picked up, and all I heard was laughing and joking, no one answered me. I’m still waiting, no food , no explanation I used the last money I had, so I couldn’t order more food from another company, I’ve had to scrape together what I had, awful and tbh a vile company

Clean shop, reasonable value, patient staff. Food was tasty & happy to substitute. Wouldn’t say the fish cajuns were cajuns just a mini fish lol Happy with the overall quality of food.

Never had a bad meal. the shop is very presentable and the prices are fair, appears to be clean and well looked after - always a bonus with takeaway shops!

Took my girlfriend here after a nice nite food was cold and there was a maggot crawling in the rice when we got home also heard other reviews of animal droppings really not good maybe it needs closing and a good clean up

Been here a couple of times over the last year or two in a rush and made the mistake of going today. The prices are interesting and places themselves higher than a usual chippy yet the food is rank.The chips were soggy, tasted undercooked and now I’ve eaten 1/2 of it all I can taste is oil in my mouth.Looking at previous responses it’s an eye opener to see the arrogant responses from poor reviews but maybe they would be better acting upon them instead of saying the queue out of the door says otherwise. You have more 1’s than 5’s which says it allPity all the others aren’t open at lunchtime

The guy in shop was proper friendly and sorted me a large portion of scraps even though I said it didn’t matter, top quality chippy!

I must admit, if i want a Chinese or English takeaway, I would not hesitate to go here. The range and quality is excellent and by far the nicest in the local area.

Our regular takeaway... telephone orders accepted.. food always high quality and very very tasty. Highly recommended

When visiting family and friends for the day always get a good choice of menu and staff really nice. My family use hungrys regularly. Good value for money too

Been once before but popped in as i was passing. Food is overpriced and doesnt taste any better, you just get a fancy paper bag. Seem to have an abundance of staff floating round behind the counter tripping over each other. Having queued up and stood waiting to order for 4-5 minutes, was completely ignored for somebody who just walked through the door! They ask you to queue and then completely ignore you! No thank you. Sooner drive a few more minutes to save a bit of money for food which is just as nice and no doubt will be ready as quick.. won't be going again

I wrote negative review some time ago after a visit that was disappointing. I have been back several times since and am happy to say they are back on form and the quality of both English and Chinese meals is outstanding. Best fish and chips you can get these days anywhere, and I travel a lot!

Purchased meals for 3 people New Years Eve, sweet & sour chicken? never seen chicken portions so small and sparse chicken chow mein tasted ok but again hunt the chicken, then crispy beef in chilli, where was the beef. All meals padded out with everything but the main ingredient (meat) must be making a massive turnover also portions so small for the price compared to local competitors and chips very dry. Sorry lost our custom

Best chip shop around and nicest chips I mainly come for the Chinese but do steal some chips and they are great. Service and staff are good too.

Service in here was very good , my order was large and was soon ready, fish was very nice as was the curry, chips were spot on, burgers were ready very quick all cooked fresh , will be back

This is one of those new 'extended' chippies that doesn't just do traditional fish and chips. I can't comment on the other items but the fish and chips are wonderful!

Fantastic banquet last night so much food, banquet D for four people, fed 6 people with loads left over could have fed 2 more easily, food was fab especially the prawns in spring onion and ginger, well done hungries

By far the best takeaway in Bromborough. Helpful staff, quality food and quick service. Try the fish as it's fresh in everyday.

Spotlessly clean and the team are all so friendly and welcoming. Lots of personality, and to finish it off we had a superb supper of fish, sausage, mushy peas, gravy and chips. If you want quality food, you must go here!

Don't eat fish and chips very often, but decided to treat ourselves and opted for Hungry's as it always seems busy. The cod in batter is to die for, and the chips were first class! The staff are friendly, quick and very efficient. It's not cheap, but it is good quality.

We thought we would give hungrys another try as it was on are way home after a long drive small portions bland tasteless food and completely unappetising I seen a response from the owner to another poor review where he says there are nine chip shops in a one mile radius my advice Would be try them they certainly can’t be any worse than the rubbish this shop serves

This was our regular chippy for years and we still go occasionally but have found better value elsewhere, particularly in terms of price and portion size. Quite often the Mrs and I will share a Chinese meal with a portion of chips which was always enough but the container sizes seem to be smaller these days !

Feel the need in response of managers reply to a customer. Hungrys i have noticed seem to be opening up everywhere locally. We like the gentleman have given them a number of chances on there food that we have stood and queued for. Our rewards have been fish left to long in the fryer, burnt burgers or overdone chips.Then on other occasions the quality has been good. My personal view is when they get a bad review or score on the door they move the staff around to there other establishments. This doesn't help us the paying customer who never know when the decent cook or staff are in. Consistency is what makes a successful business and more tact from owners or management it's called good customer service. Tried again recently decided to vote with our feet.

I'm surprised that this place has as many good reviews as it does. For a fish and chip shop they simply don't know how to make fish and chips.

Hungry's has been our local fast food provider for years. The balance between their 'chippie & Chinese takeaway' image has changed lately though. Their fish'n'chips are still good (bit longer in the oil on the chips though folks? Their beef & green pepper is to die for, other Chinese food is good too. Why did they dispense with the their Doner kebab & Chicken rotissaries though? A good doner kebab every once in a while is a thing of beauty, don't you think?

Was gorgeous sausages are the best chicken burgers were great curry rice chips great just chop suey was not that nice but I'm happy with the rest fishcake was gorgeous too x

popped in there for something to eat. Not far from the station. I just wanted a pie and asked for steak and kidney. As he was wrapping it up he chucked in a few chips foc . Nice thought pie the usual chips fantastic

Don't normally frequent this chippy as go to Lyn's but we were passing, it was too late for tea so popped in here for food. I had a savoury thing in batter but when I got home and cut into it - the outer layer was like cardboard!! Certainly not fresh ! Won't be visiting again

This place has gone so downhill! used to go here all the time and i will never go back! Chips are always under cooked and taste awful, also i have never been a place where the order is wrong most of the time. for what you pay (overpriced) i would expect a lot better. go back to your old ways when you were a decent Chippy.

I went once, ordered a cheese omelette. Got home, unwrapped it, it was a chicken omelette.Tried again tonight, ordered a vege burger. Got home to find a beef burger in the wrapping.There was no queue on either occasion- just incompetent staff. Absolutely ridiculous.

Don't really have many takeaways but fancied fish and chips. What a disappointment, don't quite know what fish they gave us but it was tasteless, wet and bland. Be awhile before I go back again. Expensive for what I got which in the end went in the bin !!

Really don't know what to say this use to be the best chippy in bromborough but last few time this place has really gone down we have had to throw meals away under cooked chips

This is a very busy chippy on a Friday and Saturday night but the quality of the food we've had (fish and chips) has been excellent. Lovely white fish in crispy batter, and the portions are very generous.

I visited Hungrys Bromborough tonight to order a meal. I ordered Banquet A for 1 person, this meal was for my husband who doesn't like sweet + sour, so I asked to change the meal to a special fried rice. We have been using hungrys since day 1 of panny opening.The lovely young girl took my order and when I asked to change the meal, she said just let me check.so she asked the manager of the shop, Jade.... who then said no!! I was really surprised by her answer as we have been changing the banquet meals since day 1....although I don't know why I was surprised as I've had problems with this one before! Along with a lot of other people Ive spoken to.she is awful to the nice youngs girls that work there, which is no wonder there is such a high turnover of staff!!I know people who wont use the Bromborough shop when she is around!I left the shop very very angry with her attitude and told her to forget my order!From the Bromborough shop I rang the the Eastham shop to order the exact same thing that I was refused in Bromborough....So with no problems whatsoever the nice young girl on the phone took my order,when I walked in to the shop I was greeted with nice friendly smiles from all the nice staff, nothing was to much trouble there, and the atmosphere there was much more relaxed....So all it leaves me to say is thank you to all the staff in Eastham, and bye bye Bromborough!!!!

We order chicken fillet with instead of plum sauce ,pineapple and ginger sauce.Simple? Not at Hungrys. 50 % of the time they cannot get this right. My husband now asks to check the order to see if it is correct. Two out of 3 times in the last 3 weeks order was incorrect. tonight we got the chicken fillet with pineapple no ginger, last time we had crispy chicken instead of chicken fillet. Over the past months we average more incorrect orders than correct. It is a shame as we love the meal but will no longer purchase from them. Fed up with the ability of staff to get a simple order correct and getting home to eat a meal we never ordered.Visitors came we ordered takeaway for 10 down the road as we didn't want to risk errors. This take away was absolutely correct with their order. No more Hungry's for us. Shame because food is lovely WHEN they get the order right.

don't know what happened but this was my first choice for takeaway but not anymore. portion sizes have been hacked whilst prices have stayed the same. staff are not trained to the right standards so mistakes on orders are now the norm.I am gutted. If the boss of this shop reads this pls undo the changes. I was one of your best customers and recommended you regularly. no more I am afriad

Used to be the Golden Sunrise when I was a kid. Has got better and better over the years and I would definitely recommend Hungry's for a fish and chips takeaway or curry and chips.

I use this shop for my Chinese every Sunday ...... The food is delicious, beef black bean my favourite. Very clean inside and the staff are very friendly .... Must mention the lovely young lady who works there , always friendly and smiling .. Manages her job well in a busy environment (queues can be long as popular place but worth the wait!..) Chinese lady also very helpful can tell they have good team work behind there . Only reason I have given it a 4 as the bags used for the chips mean that they are normally cold when I get home ... But nothing else to fault with the shop. Highly recommend..

We used to like Hungry's but the changes they've made are rubbish. To the lady staff managers attitude, the food containers and portion sizes. Change is not always better.

Large portions well cooked, can be a bit of a wait at peak times.I only gave a score of 3 because they no longer do Kebabs. For shame on you Hungry's.

Chips served in paper bag pathetic penny pinching cold when I got home I have been a regular customer for years also told don't do kebabs any more as no profit in them not going back

Attended tonight ..placed my order with a lovely girl and couldnt believe my ears , coming from the back of the shop was the most foul mouth disturbance i have ever heard.. i was shocked..i wanted to report it to the manager but learn it was the manager ..thought it best not raise the issue and left with my food ..after reading review ..I am surprised this shop is running ..may have to find a new place !

Went in to order and a Chinese lady started to take my order then said excuse me and walked off to answer the phone ! Was only a girl with brown hair and blonde hair who had any customer service in the shop and apologised for her behaviour and took my order , the Chinese lady was down there throats Infront of customers ! Went to the pub last week and the lads who normally go in wont go back ! The young girls get told of for having a laugh with the customers that's what we want !!!

Have witnessed a good chip shop completely change every good aspect of their success. They seem more concerned on phone orders than acknowledging ones which are waiting. They have changed the menu, takeaway containers and although I can understand why we are not given a plastic bag anymore Why on earth did someone think it was a good idea to put chips in a white paper bag. They get cold far to quick and end up squashed on the bottom. I for one have stopped going. What was once a large fish on menu is now the same size as what used to be a small fish.

No longer do Donner meat, very disappointing. Lady behind the counter was not very welcoming, the chips, fish cake and curry sauce were probably the worst I've ever had! Why change a winning formula? Won't be going back there...

Visited Hungrys tonight and wanted a kebab - which we have regularly and are good sellers but they no longer do kebabs. Disappointed, I changed my order to Beef mushroom with chips, while my husband had Singapore fried rice. The rice dish was lovely, but I'm afraid my meal was not. The method of wrapping food has been changed to chinese noodle style boxes and paper bags (which ripped as soon as we left the shop!) - which are okay, but chips are wrapped in a simple paper bag. By the time I got home, the chips were stone cold (I live 5 minutes drive away). Added to that, the beef mushroom contained more onion than beef and had what tasted like a months ration of salt. Maybe corners are being cut because of the menu board upgrades to monitor screens, or new managers have changed what did not need changing, but all I know is that I won't be bothering again. Sorry - but your food and packaging is no longer lovely and tasty.

Used to like this place. The woman behind the counter however is unapproachable and miserable and the chips have changed to a tiny packet for a rip off price. People aren't soft and won't stand for it.

Never had a bad meal from here! I would highly recommend the mixed kebab with salt & pepper chips or a liver and bacon dinner. Portions are large and reasonably priced. Service is fast and food is always piping hot.

Where to start. ok, the premises are clean. Er...that's the pros. The chips are often barely cooked, I mean properly anaemic so they taste of raw potato and grease. The large fish is hardly all that big and it comes out or the fryer soggy! How does that happen?!? The sausages are the cheapest of the cheap nasty efforts. The curry sauce is bland and tasteless. I'm sure there's something they do well, but I've never found it. Feel free to try this place if you like bland tasteless crap. I prefer to go elsewhere like the Man Wah.
