Great Pub and Restaurant in Clifton Moor Retail Park Lovely staff and nice food

Food was nice and workers were lovely very calm and nice atmosphere

Very good food served by extremely grumpy staff, it look like they can't wait for closing time to get rid of paying customers.

I have been eating at the hungry horse for 2 years now and I can say IT IS SO GOOD if you go here in York you need to try the chicken nuggets they are the best I love it

Me and my sister both had lasagne last Friday and we got food poisoning and have both been extremely poorly, sort it out

The food was nice but gave my whole family food poisoning, went on Friday and it’s Wednesday now and only just starting to feel better, such a shame

Called in today for lunch as had a busy morning. Was served by Dani with a smile. She was very helpful. Because I am diabetic I have to be careful with my carbs. She suggested to me to have a chicken and bacon gluten free sandwich as it comes in seeded bread. So pleased she did it was lovely. Had plenty of filling. So along with a few chips it was great for me. My partner just fancied a sausage baguette and the kitchen staff were so accommodating. He loved it. The food was bought out to us by Chloe and Josiah who were so friendly. We will definitely be in again for food. Thank you

Horrible experience both food and service. Food took 35-40 mins to arrive and had many black hairs in both mine and my friends. Whatever this happens picked it out. Friend looked under her chicken to find the bacon in her chicken and bacon sandwich, two tiny end bits the size of a finger nail. The “melted” cheese was freezing but we tried not to be them customers. I went up and asked if we could have some extra bacon and the guy tried to make me pay for it? Surely its included in the sandwich it wasn’t a chicken sandwich it was chicken and bacon. Trying to stay positive we apologised for being annoying. The food returned 5 seconds later with more bacon , the waitress simply slammed it on the table no apology whatsoever. Feeling awkward we tried to ask for a takeaway box to eat it elsewhere as the atmosphere was like being in highschool with staff annoyed they had to be there. What we believe was the manager barked “no” , no foil or bag or anything ? “No, use napkins” then walked off. To say we was so polite no idea why the staff think they are so entitled and rude. Maybe re-train your staff on how to work in customer service.

Limited food available due to kitchen issues. Staff didn't seem to know if fries came with certain dishes or not. Food did taste nice though.

Not been for a long time, and I had chicken curry. It was really nice, and the staff were very friendly and would recommend well done.

A good offer on the menu on Wednesday the children at an age for adult meals so 2 for £11:99 with a good selection they enjoyed.

lovely staff and the food was super quick and well cooked. kids were very happy with the tv! bargain meal of the century 4 meals for £15!

I only had a southern fried chicken wrap but got to say it was very basic and I wasn't very impressed with it at all. Wouldn't recommend I'm afraid.

It is cheap and cheerful, especially for families with young children as there is a soft play area adjacent to the main restaurant. Additionally, this establishment does offer table service with relatively prompt service even during busy periods.

We were turned away at the door told no more room despite more than twenty people left whilst we were sitting back in the car.We had travelled 29 miles to visit the pub after being told to give it a visit never again rude staff and looked like they were just not coping very well

very poor quality chicken in classic chicken new yorker, inedible and very disappointing! Staff agreed it was of poor quality and menu due to change. no compensation offered, not even a drink.

A very good meal, when you buy a main course, you get an all you s con eat salad bar, oh and if you buy a soft drink, pay for a small, it’s free refills, and you can go as many times as you like.

Huge portions and very reasonable prices. Had the burger combo and is up In my top 5 burgers of all time . I didn't read the menu properly and it came in two plates with steak and chicken wings too! Glad I have a big appetite

We did have a problem with one of our meals. Husband ordered his meat medium it came out still mooing! We spoke to the guy who came to ask if our meal was OK and he laughed then walked away. Husband spoke to the manager who was lovely and very helpful too! Overall the food was nice and we did come back a second time while we were away

Always a great spot to visit with plenty of choice for food. Depending on the day, they usually have mid-week offers to take advantage of.

Very basic your typical bland cheap pub grub went for a breakfast last Sunday OK was not expensive but it just lacked any taste or flavour.

Very pleasant relaxed lunch, plenty of choice first class meal served by friendly staff. Very good value.

Would not go back. Waited 50mins. After that we asked where was our food. It'll be 5 more mins. Starters came out after our mains. Most of the food was cold. Asked for a refund. But looks like the money is already coming out of our account

We've been a number of times. Unfortunately, on the most recent occasion we were disappointed at the lack of care, the poor standards of the food, and poor hygiene. For these reasons we will not be returning.

Been in loads of times . Food is good for the price and as usual the the staff are friendly and efficient . They serve a good pint with smiles and enthusiasm even when it's extraordinarily busy. Good place for a beer after work.

Surprisingly for such a pub the food wasn't too bad. Of course it was all frozen and microwaved and massively overpriced.

Just popped in for a quick drink and chat, the kids played outside in the playground. All good, friendly staff

Cheap and cheerful food as expected. Food pretty nice however bathroom facilities were dirty and can't have been cleaned too recently. Appreciate that it is the school holidays so high footfall for during the week however facilities should be better maintained.

Ordered our meals, did not have to wait too long, food hot, ample amount, only disappointment was a burger bun was cooked a touch too long but no problem with anything else. Staff was brilliant!

Reasonable food at reasonable prices

Great place to bring the whole family. Big range of items on the menu, plus they have deals too like 2 meals for £8.50. Table was a bit sticky but it was a bank holiday and was pretty busy. Order online via an app or at the till. Staff seems friendly and got a table straight away. Average food, nothing to write home about, good for a cheap meal out.

I go in for just a pint or a meal, the place is always clean with friendly staff and the food is good and competitively priced

With the times we are currently in unfortunately it was very quite when we went, which... Could be a good thing but just lost the atmosphere of going out for a meal On entry you need to check in and guided to your seating and its recommended you order on the app On ordering, the drinks arrived quickly and the food not far behind this could be due to how quite it was though The food was "good" its just standard pub food unfortunately and can be found in all hungry horses... The salad garnishing could be improved but could of just wilted a little due to the piping hot food The staff were incredibly freindly and very welcoming which is nice to see Restrooms were very clean and tidy which is good for a hungry horse, some I have been to in the past haven't been... All that pleasant Great experience all round

Staff fantastic and food lovely. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because if diners leave without paying, the staff member has to pay for it. How they expect to keep the good staff like the one that served us, I don't know.

A Fantastic Restaurant with Amazing food and Great and friendly Staff.

I have visited this place many times and will continue to do so. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Food has always been excellent and although I don't normally eat dessert, the cherry pie Black forest is to die for.

Average food at best. All tasted re heated. Chicken felt slimey and tasteless. Would not order again

Had a meal yesterday and it was not what we ordered asked for crispy chicken with curry sauce came with rice asked for more curry sauce and was told it would be another 1.29 my wife had gammon that was burnt .we waited and waited for sweets all in all it took them 1hour and 30 minutes to serve 1 starter 2 mains and 1 sweet witch we had to leave as we had to be somewhere a 6 o'clock

Restaurant noisy and staff unwelcoming.. Food was of normal standard for a Hungry Horse but, the place itself was not the best for atmosphere. Staff didn't really seemed too bothered and it showed everywhere in the restaurant.

Food was OK, drinks were better lol and the atmosphere was welcoming.

The service was good... but my steak was gristly. I told the waitress and she just said 'sorry'...

Quadzilla Burger not that big after all.

Nice and clean pub- but some of their rules were a bit weird..... normally if we order a glass of pop or squash, you would expect it to the top of the glass. Same as any other drink (apart from wine! Lol) we asked them to top our son’s drink but said it’s policy to keep it at that.... strange! Then our friend wanted to order chips when we were eating outside- there are benches on the grass and a small patio area too. Only allowed to eat on the patio area- to make sure the grass is clear of vermin. So our friend had to come off the seat she was sitting on- and sit on her own at the end of the garden!!! Never heard this rule before. So we just had the one drink and found a better pub nearby- Lysander arms, def worth going and missing this pub if u want to comply by these “rules”!

Asked for 2 main meals only recieved 1 didn't get the receipt at the time had to get our meals served separately poor show till staff should be checking especially when you get 2 drinks

Pretty standard food although I had the yorks pudding buritto pudding was rock hard on hedges and the rest was tough could'nt cut it

I was in here on Tuesday 12th June, with my wife. We each ordered a steak, and it was cooked to perfection. So very juicy The restaurant was clean, service very quick, staff very polite We will certainly be back
