Costa Coffee in York

After my appointment went to costa for a tea and toasted tea cake the staff were great very polite and helpful and friendly

Very busy location - in York Hospital. Usual Costa offer. Staff are busy but engaging. The constant flow of customers means that seats can become scarce at times. Drinks often served in takeaway cups rather than proper cups.

Only option to get a drink is through a kiosk which is very difficult to use. The staff aren’t helpful and then you end up getting a complete different order to what you wanted, such a waste of money and then staff are rude about it.

Shambolic, staff not knowing which order was which, unorganised and chaotic.

Ordered a medium size hot chocolate no cream and a third of the cup was froth!! Was certainly rushed being made and wasn't that busy rip off!

Not a great experience, you can only order on the shelf service boards, not user friendly, took 3 times before it worked. Alot of people was having problems ordering. No sign to say you can't order at the counter. It's a hospital and this is not a suitable option for all people. People where walking in past them ,then standing at the counter and then after waiting being told they had to use the screens. One member of staff was on the floor but not always at the screen to assist. This way of ordering is not putting the customer first . Where is the option to pay by cash ? I had a voucher and you can't use them . They have the monopoly and could be improved greatly. Bring back the old cafe when it was run by the charity or a local company that might put the customer and there needs first. Coffee was okay. Staff where friendly. Place was clean .

Have just visited Costa at York Hospital. The outside sitting area was disgraceful. Used wooden knives and forks on the floor, litter, and a stench from a blue waste bin next to the tables. I complained to an employee about it who said the area belongs to the hospital. I tried the reception to be told it belongs to Costa. Who ever owns it it was a health hazard in a Hospital. Please can someone sort it out!

Short staffed meaning long queue. One member telling people to use order machine instead of serving. Lady dealing with queue was doing everything while at least 2 members of staff dealing with machine orders.

Dreadful, got new order machines, don't scan QR properly, the food I'd ordered two if they only had one, service was appallingly slow so the machines weren't making it any quicker.....overall dreadful, used to be so lovely before 😞😞

Whoever in Costas office thought to put self service screens in this Costa needs to have a rethink!! The self service machines are not user friendly, they can’t accept loyalty cards so no points on purchases, most of the customers are staff and simply do not have the time to wait for this system as most people using struggle to navigate it. Customers were going to the tills to purchase only to be sent away and the queue was growing for the self service all the time with many (including hospital staff) just walking away. Ridiculous system considering numerous staff stood behind the counter twiddling thumbs or dealing with customers they couldn’t serve! plus your poor member of staff trying to help at the self service having to endure frustrated customers. Sort your self out Costa and yes use the check outs but don’t close your tills!!! Not rocket science when trying to maintain a decent level of customer service!!

If I pay six pounds for a coffee and a tea, I really expect better than a paper cup

Never disappoints Update, wow this place is good, when staff are not serving they are filling the shelves.The queue was quite long but these guys just brilliant and fast. Also , they were extremely helpful.

Customer service very poor for a hospital Costa. You never know why that person your serving is there and you have a chance to make a small amount of there day better. A coffee shop that only uses takeaway packaging, which had 3 members of staff on had some of the seating area closed off?

Not a lot of flavor in Iced Mocha.

On 16/08 manager of the floor did not let me in at 1648 despite closing at 1700 and only 2 people at the till. I asked please nicely and she said no. Shocking customer service to NHS staff members who have to work till 10pm. 1652 and the shutters are down and lucky them they get to finish work early.

Everything I come here the staff seem miserable. The food is great but the drinks are hit and miss depending on who's making them. I know that it can be stressful working in hospitality but it's not the customers fault if the workers hate there job!

Came here 4 weeks ago card machine not working so went to shop instead just been again today and card machine still not working which is a bit of a joke. Tables littered with empty cups etc perhaps customers just need to clean up after themselves. Wanted a strawberry frappe didn't have any strawberry juice Not a massive choice of cakes etc. Prices as you expect with Costa always

Hospital Costs. No food! Went at 1.30pm no sandwiches left at all just directed to newsagent next door for a pre packed sandwich. Hardly any cakes left. Thought it was a one off but went following days shocking. I was visiting temporarily but what do the poor doctors/staff do at the hospital?? World have spent far more if they had anything but drinks and leftover flapjack. Very poor

Uncleared tables, long queues, and service slow. Having said that, there were 3 members of staff working, 2 were serving, and 1 was replenishing stock. I think they need more staff

You could get more interest and humour out of a vending machine ?

Unsmiley staff. And the most miserable thin tasteless brie and cranberry toastie I ever had. The seating and lighting is much better now though

Asked for americano with hot milk at very busy Costa. When I tasted it, it was like hot milk. Didn't bother queuing up to tell them about it. Poor experience.

Give them a pay rise never a problem at this costa

Staff all gee'd up knowing what's what. Busy but running well and a pleasant experience!

This is situated in the hospital so can get busy at times but the staff all seem to have been there for ages so they know their jobs and are very efficient. Other than that, well it's a Costa, so you know what to expect.

Brings this cost to be far with a friend a year ago. Can I own this time with my guide dog twice they were very helpful helping me find stuff got make cold drink for my dog brought my stuff to the table asked for tissue lots of blue tissue lots of blue tissue lots of blue tissue lots of blue tissue to clean up dog splash water they gave me some but said it didn't matter they'd mop it if need. I'm telling out A-tent just as nice as the one I have at home we staff we know and friendly there's a nice gentleman that remembered us from last time i didn't know his name but it was very helpful and very polite.

Well layed out, maybe a little dark near the counter, no millionaire shortbread, coffee good. Plenty of tables, even a outdoors area.

This one is inside York District Hospital. Plenty of space to sit and have a snack/drink while visiting. Friendly staff, and good service. Small patio area if you fancy sitting outside too.

Staff was quite rude to and we ended up at the back of the queue. Both girls had no manners or people skills. Alot of customers in that cafe have alot on their minds, they need to be served by someone polite and a smile. I know I did

Sorry the only reason I'm giving it one star is normally you wouldn't get me within a mile of the smell of coffee, it really makes me retch but on this occasion I had my 11 year old granddaughter with me and she insisted she wanted to go in and have some sort of strawberry drink that she loved in there, so I agreed and sat in there with her (I had a hot chocolate which was very nice) but I think I was slowly turning green with the coffee smell 🤢lol. I'm sure if you like coffee that this would be a lovely place to visit but pure hell if like me you don't 😢

I didn't buy coffee just a pair of bed socks I just had a look after I had a procedure at York hospital the cashier was friendly but the items are quite costly I decided to wait and have a tea when I got home.

I found the young lady with dark hair who was serving this morning (28/07) to be incredibly rude. Anti-social, impatient and if looks could kill… You’re working in hospitality, within a hospital - lighten up.

Always a smile face to great you at Costa. I was there every morn for my daily fix whilst in hospital having my leg amputated, great staff, spacious surroundings. Can't knock it at all.
