Food was amazing quick efficient with a real authentic taste had the feel of fish and chips by the seaside. To put it simply - the food is very soggy and all the chips are stuck together as one massive lump! The gluten free option contains oil with gluten in it lol Well in lad!

Wow they never disappoint. Large cod, medium cod and large chips. Beautiful fish and beautiful chips cooked to perfection. Little tip - heat oven to 150 fan and when you get home put them on a plate. Leave in oven for 20 mins. They are crispy and superb. We have eaten them every other week since they reopened after March lockdown and they are very very good.

So we paid for 2 fish and chips and only 1 arrived, spoke with rude woman on phone and she said what do you want me to do about it. Then the manager lies on the response to my comment stating that deliveroo told him I have been misusing the account. I have never had any issues where any other takeaway is concerned but this place is the most vile. Not only did the owner clearly just lie through his teeth as you see in other comments to bad feedback and I invite you to look at that feedback. But the food well its easy the worst food we have ever had I wouldn't give it to my bloody dog.

Humphreys serves one of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The cod is exceptional. Highly recommended.

Went at 7.30 this evening and despite the upstairs restaurant being closed they set up a table for us (thank you!). Myself and my husband had small cod and chips and daughter had sausage and chips, with 2 curry sauces to share. The food was absolutely spot on, very thick "meaty" pieces of cod and definitely enough for us, it was perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. Shame we don't live nearby as we would be regular visitors (although that's probably good for our waistlines!) but will definitely come back when passing.

Visited a Friday evening eating in, very pleasant, food takes a little while, but very nice. You can also have a glass of wine or a beer with your meal.

Great food and service, just like in Allington. Not many other fish shops around Kent that are this nice

Took the family for dinner here and it was some of the best food we’ve had, great value for money, quick service and polite waitresses, woukd recommend to anyone !

We have dined in Humphrey’s for the last two Friday evenings and have found the food to have been excellent! Fish is lovely and cooked very well,fantastic efforts from the girls that served us. They were under a bit of pressure and handled it extremely well! Well done Humphrey’s keep up the good work....

Awful experience. Slow service from rude staff. When it (eventually) arrived, food was pretty much inedible. Expensive for portion sizes too. Very, very disappointing - avoid!

Difficult to find at the best of times but Humphreys offer a gluten free option. Massive thank you for this. Very large potions and fantastic taste. We drove for 20 minutes each way just for this meal and it was not wasted. Very impressed with the food, friendly staff and a very clean well laid out place. Will definitely be back.

I came in here the other night to get my fish and chips and it was fantastic. The food was great and the staff were lovely.

Went on a Monday evening for two battered sausages and a large chips, the food was ready to go (on request) after payment yet had to wait a further 20 minutes to recieve food. Large chips were £2.50 (was £1.90 once upon a time) for a very measly portion size, sausages were lovely, nothing wrong with a young workforce but the team were clearly flustered and struggled to cope with the demand. In the meantime it's definitely worth while making the journey to Papas or A&D instead. Chris & Andy, sort it out lads, please.

Made a call to order a large cod and chips. Told would be 15 mins. Arrived in 10. Told it would be a few minutes. Server missed my cod was ready.

Have visited twice now for lunch and the cod and chips have been excellent both times. The restaurant is very clean and tidy and the staff very pleasant. Will be coming here on a regular basis and will recommend to friends.

Came into Humphreys’s this Thursday super busy and really lovely to see a local business doing so well. Had my brother’s family visiting with us for the week and ordered fish and chips for the 6 of us. Best fish and chips we’ve ever had. Great service, great food.

Stroppy manager trying to cause a fight because we pointed out that cooking gluten free fish in contaminated oil could cause my wife to end up ill for days. Website deliberately advertising Gluten Free. Shop reported to local trading standards.

COELIACS BEWARE!!! Travelled especially to get gluten free fish and chips as stated on their website. When we got there we were told that all the food is cooked in the same fryer which means the food is no longer gluten free. They are wasting their time and money buying the gluten free stuff to then put it all in the same fryer and it no longer be gluten free.

Travelled over after seeing on their website they offer gluten-free. After getting there and asking for gluten-free we were told “we cook it all in the same fryer as the gluten stuff, is that ok?” No, it isn’t ok! How on earth is it gluten-free then??

Love having a Fish & Chips on Kings Hill - in theory. Unfortunately this place has two problems, the food is ‘soggy’ and there’s rarely anything ready. Waiting around for not particularly good grub isn’t what I expect from a decent chippy....

We hired out the whole upstairs restaurant (34 people) and it was amazing. Nothing was a problem for Chris & Chris the owners and they made sure everything was prepared for beforehand. The waitresses were fantastic and friendly.

I no longer bother to go to West Malling as Humphrey’s is much better. If you have the time to eat in do as it’s consistently the best I ever have and cannot be beaten.

Great tasting fish and chips and great service. Decided to eat in upstairs and wasn’t disappointed. Will eat here again and again......

Have visited twice in the last couple of weeks. Absolutely superb fish and chips, cooked to order, so a bit of a wait as they are also serving takeaway customers whose food is similarly cooked to order. Served piping hot as food should be, perfectly cooked, could not be any better. Cannot remember better crispy chip shop chips anywhere. Portions are large - we have yet to finish the "small" huss and haddock with small salad. Apparently they will go up to "extra large" too!! So pleased this is within walking distance at Kings Hill. Very friendly, polite and efficient staff too. We will be back.

Had a takeaway fish and chips. Beautiful fish and not fatty chips beautifully cooked. No more to say really.

This was our first visit to Humphrey’s and we were not disappointed.Well cooked cod and plenty of large crispy chips served with a small salad.Wine etc good value for money.We will definitely return.Thanks to Alex and his female colleague for looking after us.

The lady who worked the night we visited was amazing!!!!!! food was fab, service with a smile :) As we walked in was very welcomed by the young ladies.

Went to Allington shop 22nd Jan 2018 time 5:00 pm, and ordered large cod when i got home and cut the fish in half , I found the fish half cooked in the middle,so i drove straight back which they said sorry but both staff went around the back of shop out of sight which was not nice as they may of been talking about me?

For convenience it does the job, absolutely no problems when the younger lads are running the shop, otherwise the portions can often be scarce for the money, food is alright.

I visited the shop on Monday evening and was wonderfully impressed. The service we received was great- they couldn't do enough for us. And the food was excellent to go with it. Great value for money- can't recommend this place enough.

We visited here after travelling 6 hours and just fancying some fish and chips and checking reviews. Haddock was on the menu so we asked for two haddock and chips, anyone would think we had asked them to go and catch the fish themselves! "We will have to go and cook some, it's not ready" I replied that it was fine I could wait " we will have to go and get some out" is that a problem I asked? To which I go at no reply! If you don't want to serve Haddock don't put it on the menu. I will say the fish was excellent but how we were made to feel was completely unacceptable. I felt really uncomfortable whilst waiting and made to feel as if I had done something wrong. Certainly not the customer service I was expecting after reading the reviews. Safe to say we won't be returning or recommending.

We used the restaurant for a work's leaving do. The food was excellent and great value and a great time was had by all. For something and somewhere different for a gathering give Humphrey's a go!

Called in for lunch with my wife & grand- daughter, take away ground floor, seating on first floor, service very good, all meals cooked fresh, highly recommend excellent food at reasonable prices, large portions, make sure you are hungry.

I went to your restaurant for the past 2 Wednesdays for dinner i must say the young man upstairs was incredibly polite and the food was amazing. Both times i have been the food quality has only improved in my opinion i don't understand all of these bad reviews. it is well worth it for the price i will be returning a third Wednesday.

Great tasting fish and chips, good busy atmosphere with friendly staff and very clean, in the take away and also in the restaurant.Nice glass of wine or a beer to go with your meal as well which is a good idea !will definitely go again.

I go here regularly on a Friday night and it never fails to please me, staff are lovely and the food is exquisite, chunky flakes of fish and crispy but fluffy chips, the best in the county!

Visited here last week, great portion of fish , better than the usual greasy "too much batter" you find in most chippies these days! Kids loved their meals too. Friendly atmosphere and great service. Will definitely be back soon.

More local to myself thank McCoy's but not as good. Fairly standard Chippy but not the cheapest. Fish is always good and fresh - chips are not bad.

Some very sweet girls waitressing but too young to be left unsupervised. They struggled a bit I'm afraid and there were only us - a table of 6 and one other of 4!Food was just ok - we ordered cod and it was a bit tasteless. It's great that the kids eat free but please learn to bring theirs out first so it can cool down and parents can sort them out before they get their meal. We will return but just for takeout.

The portion sizes are terrible. If you're migrating from another fish and chip shop, don't expect a similar experience for the price. The fish sizes are smaller, the sausage sizes are literally half sized and a large portion of chips will just about satisfy one person. My advice, order double what you usually would, but naturally it'll cost you double. Pictured is a "full-sized"?! battered sausage and about 2/3 a large portion of chips.

Food here is ok, on the soggy side but whether or not that's an issue is personal preference. I've found the quality and quantity of the fish has gone down in general since they first opened. It's certainly not a bad place or one to avoid, it's just average..

Have been away from your Allington for 2 years now. We had Cod and Chips at your Allington shop on Friday and was still as good as it always was. Now we live in Ramsgate where you would think fish and chips would good but they are not as good as Humphreys

I used the Allington shop recently and found the Cod to be beautifully cooked. Over the years of visiting Fish and Chip shops you get used to overcooked, quite tasteless fish but this was amazingly tasty. Even a small fish was good in size and the batter was lovely and thin. My wife is not really a fan of fish and chips as it is normally too greasy but even she conceded that Humphrey's was very good.

The large Plaice was enrobed in the lightest, thinnest, crispiest batter we have ever tasted. The Plaice was so incredibly fresh, it smelt like the ocean, and was delicate and toothsome.The Large Cod was equally fresh, white, succulently flaky, and again, in a wonderfully thin and light and crispy batter.I might have liked the chips perhaps a little darker, but, hey, with fish so good, I didn't mind a bit!The best fish and chips for miles....

We just called in for a takeaway: 1 cod and chips, 1 chicken breast and chips.The chicken was beautifully cooked and moist, the cod very meaty, and the chips exceptional. Unlike some chips from such shops, these were perfectly cooked, tasty, and non-greasy. You know when you're sure you're full up but just can't resist another chip? Well, these are the ones - and we had only the "small" portions (allegedly)!

I've been to Humphrey's of Kings Hill a few times now. Both for takeaways and have sat in the restaurant upstairs a few times too. Good quality food the traditional way! I expect this knowledge has been passed for generations being a family ran business. Not like some chip shops you get today where they overcook the fish. My cod is cooked just right everytime and the chips are obviously freshly cooked because they're so tasty and fluffy!The restaurant upstairs is a nice quaint area where you enjoy your meal and having a nice selection of drinks is also a nice touch. Anyone who's looking to go for an informal business lunch should definitely consider a visit if you're in the area. Or even if you're grabbing something quick for take away, this place is always a safe bet if looking for good old fashioned chippy meal!

You can just get a take away, or eat upstairs, where it was very quiet when we went. there is deal fro kids eat free with adults, with a restricted menu. Although I prefer to use and other chippie for take aways, eating in was convenient and the ffod was good and prompt.

Took my family here for the first time Saturday. Really enjoyed it, lovely chips and nice cod. Be back soon

Visited on a Tuesday lunchtime. Pleasant premises welcoming staff. Opted for small haddock small chips bread roll and soft drink. At £7.50 thought this expensive. Decent sized portions, chips ok nothing special, haddock definitely undercooked as liquid running about inside the batter. Batter typical for the South East. Bread roll was not fresh and was a little dry and stale.

Visited once a week for years and it never disappoints. Quality fish and chips and the sit down restaurant is well worth a trip. If you like fish and chips, you will be very happy with Humphreys. Best place on Kings Hill.

Ordered fish and chips for me and my mates the other night, food stayed warm until we got home, lovely meaty portion of Cod - very satisfying and great service, staff were very polite. Will be back soon!

Good chips but poor quality cod. My large was the same size as the small! And if you call that a large it's pretty shocking, majority of other places are at least twice the size! Feel sorry for the people who have this as their local.

I have to say the best Fish and Chips, I have ever had! I live in the sea side town of Brighton and was here visiting friends. I only wish Humphrey's were in Brighton, so that I could eat here more often. I really do not understand the comment made by the person below about the fish!?!(including Photo!! Took the family for fish and chips on Saturday and must say that they were the best I have had for years! Fish was expertly cooked and the chips were lovely and crispy! Service was great and to top it off, kids eat free! We will definitely return.

Have seen Humphrey's food quality decline recently and today's fish was without doubt the worst I have ever had - tough batter, hardly any fish with what fish there was being dry and yuk. Overall just yuk. Went back to the takeaway and got my money back!!!!

I have been here a few times with my wide for a Fish & Chip supper and can recommend it. The chips are great , in fact I would say as good as you get. I like mine with gravy.....delicious. My wide always has cod with her chips I like a jumbo sausage in batter. They also do burgers, chicken scampi and pies so lots to choose from. We. Normally sit upstairs in the Restuarant . It is clean and very nicely decorated. The service is always first class with the staff always happy and very polite. I would recommend this place it's a great fish and chip shop

1st time I have used this shop and will definately return. Fish and chips were lovely best I've had in a long time and 2 men were chatting saying they think it's the best fish and chip shop in Kent.

It was the first time me and my family went to Humphrys on the 18th July and I have to say the food was excellent and the kids loved it. The young gentalman who served me was well mannered, smart and good with the children. I highly recomend this resaurant and we will be coming back in the near future.

This was my third and last visit to this chippy. The Cook was too busy chatting up the young waitresses and looking at what he was cooking. When I got my take away home which was just few minutes I had small over cooked piece of cod and soggy under cooked chips. By far the worst I have ever had.

Humphreys is smack in the middle of average, neither great or terrible. Everything is cooked well but can be a bit greasy and the chips can be a bit soggy.if you just want a quick takeaway and fairly fast service then its okay but if you are looking for quality locally then we would always go to Papas in aylesford or bells in paddock wood

We have used this take away a few times since moving into the area recently. On each occasion we have been impressed by the quality. The fish is fried in a nice crispy batter and tastes great, the chips are everything a good chip should be, fluffy on the inside but well sealed on the outside and not greasy. The shop is clean and modern and the staff are polite and efficient. There is a place to eat upstairs but I can't comment on this as I have not used it. Parking is easy in a number of adjacent parking areas. Probably the best fish and chip shop for miles around!

Possibly the best fish and chips ( and much more besides) place within miles of Maidstone.Fish, Haddock for me and Cod for my other half, was wonderfully moist, fresh and beautifully cooked. The batter was thin, light, crisp and tasty and the chips were nicely soft and fluffy in the middle and suitably crisp on the outside.Can reccommend. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and this one is well worth it.

We have never been disappointed with the quality of the takeaway fish n chips but we recently ate upstairs , great friendly service, huge portion and my don received his meal for free....we had a great time thanks

After using the takeaway in along Allington, we decided to visit Humphrey's fish & chips restaurant in kings hill yesterday the service & food were amazing, the best fish & chips around. They offer children eat free in the restaurant when buying an adults fish & chips which just added to the great experience we had. Would highly recommend the food here you can tell they only use fresh fish. The staff were really helpful & made a real fuss of us & our son nothing was to much trouble. We will be going back very soon thank you Humphrey's for serving up the best fish & chips around Kent.

Quite possibly the best fish and chips Kent... a lovely modern restaurant upstairs with friendly staff and great service. The fish and chips was just right and well priced too, I could not recommend it enough, there was a pudding selection on offer too but I was too full up from the meal to attempt one... maybe next time, I'll definitely be visiting again very soon. This Fish & Chip shop is possibly one of the worst I have ever been to. The fish portion is small but covered by a massive amount of batter, the chips simply inedible!

The Fish and Chips are good and its quite nice to sit upstairs to eat. Some of the youngsters that work there could do with making a little more effort but the food its self is of a good standard. We tend to use it about once a month.

Very nice fish and chip shop. Always cooked fresh and very clean facility. However bread rolls are slightly small for the price and are just your average asda ones. Overall lovely tho.

Used to come here to get chips for lunch occasionally when I worked locally - they're very good, not too greasy. Have also eaten in the restaurant upstairs in the evening - good food and service. Can't comment on the fish as I don't eat it, but everyone I was with thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Also - battered mushrooms on a stick, what a brilliant idea for vegetarians! I personally think this is one of the best chip shops in the area.
