Food can be on the greasy side, portions are generous. Staff friendly. Usually busy Friday nights so can be worthwhile phoning in your order or ordering online.

This place has gone to the dogs 👎 that wasn't cod I ate last night , it was definitely whiting 👎 ( poor man's cod )

Awful fish and chips, soggy batter, hardly any actual fish in the batter and tasteless chips. Terrible value for money. Disappointed and won’t return.

In my humble opinion, this so-called F&C shop is taking the *iss! It currently has the monopoly (and for far too, too long - hence their complacency! The Chinese have again bumped up an already existing high-priced take-away and have cut-back on the quality and traditional ingredients of the Chinese food plus no more free prawn crackers. I mean, the chip shop has a massive 'mark-up' on simple things like gherkins (wallies) & pickled onions etc, just so greedy!

I have used this fish and chip shop for about 4 years always been good until last 4 months fish not fresh and chips under cooked so disappointed ☹️

The only decent chippy we have left in the area. The gorgeous smell hits you as you enter the shop and reminds you of how fish and chip shops used to be before hipsters hijacked the scene. Lovely generous portions, tastes like proper traditional fish and chips how they should be. Crispy batter. Service good and quick, and prices are now reasonable considering everything going up and up.

Food was excellent but the chap who served me was very abrupt not the Chinese man though not abrupt enough to stop me going back. Always fresh and proper chips.

I've been visiting this fish and chip shop for the last 30 years. Never had a bad meal, excellent service, lovely people, keep it up.

Well known in the area for the best fish and chips - see the queue every Friday. My favorite the traditional cod and chips with a pickled onion.

Had large cod and chips x 2 Friday 10/09/21 its usually nice from here but this time very poor and very dear 18 pounds.It needs to be good to justify this price and it wasn't,will not be returning.Also how they distinguish between medium and large cod for only 40p difference really is beyond me.

Big fish portions.. but the plaice was wafer thin more batter and base rather than fish... but what there was tasted nice. Loads of chips.

Mushy peas, curry sauce very nice, cod and chips ok, plaice and large chips x2 ok. Never get why you would put all of this into a plastic bag??

You can't beat their chips but they need to work on their burgers. A bit over cooked and just turn to rubber!

I came here because our local chippy was closed but was very disappointed. The chips were soggy and bland and the fish was so oily it stuck to the paper. I certainly won't be visiting again.

Ordered, as I do quite often for new years, and told it was a 60 minute wait.....over an hour later, still no delivery so ordered a domino’s. No response when I called (over 50 attempts) to try and cancel the order..... Really disappointing

Good food but started to get more expesive

Their fish is always very tasty and cooked to perfection. No mushy gunky batter. I always finish all of it from there. Whereas I always leave most of the batter from other fish and chip shops. Oh and the chips are tasty too.

The Cod, Haddock and chips are fantastic. By far the best away from the coast. You may have to wait a little while (always busy as it is popular) and it is cash only unless you buy in the Chinese/Thai next door.

Had a trip out and had to stop at various places and came across this Fish Bar at lunchtime. We both had cod and chips to take away and I kid you not, these were the best fish and chips I've had in YEARS!!!! Next time I'm anywhere near this place again I shall make a point of stopping, give it a try you will not be disappointed.

I was absolutely digusted to find prawns in my VEGETARIAN pad thai. I have been vegetarian for many years, but also have a very slight intolerance to shell fish. It really didn't seem to matter to the guy on the end of the phone who sent another oe!!! Last thing I was going to do was eat it!!! Finding meat in a vegetarian meal would have been unthinkable, but how serious could thi shellfish have been! Will NOT use this place again!

I stopped coming here months ago due to how unwelcome these people that served me made me feel. They looked at me as if I was an inconvenience and the way they spoke to me was just as poor. I would have thought they would treat their customers with a bit of respect as they are making a living out of the likes of us people buying from them! I understand they get very busy and are under pressure at times, but that’s not a customers fault or problem. I was appalled!

Fab fish, excellent chips, swift service, value for money.

Tempura batter on beautiful fresh fish, very reasonable price. The chips are to die for!! Would recommend it to anyone. Good idea to order first as it becomes very buy whenever open. Friendly people.

Joined with the Chinese next door you get a mix of staff who can be hard to understand. The food is very slow and you have to wait up to 15 mins sometimes but a good place to stop for dinner. Wouldn't say it was great.

Friday evening so very busy but order was taken quickly and told 10/15 minute wait. Did get order muddled but soon rectified. Delicious cod and chips but those who had sausage and chips thought expensive and should be jumbo sausage for the price. Would order from here again and very friendly service.

Great fish and chips and reasonable Chinese takeaway. Good value for money and a quick service. Only take cash but a cash machine just down the road.

Last minute decision to have fish and chips with the mother-in-law, popped in Friday early evening, straight to the counter, made my order, then realised they don't take cash, thankfully there is a cash machine outside the co-op 2 minutes along the road. When I got back a queue had appeared from no-where, however they hadn't forgotten about my order - I paid, waited another couple of minutes and was handed a big bag of F&C;.
