I chose the place for my 1 Michelin star experience in London because of element of fire, the concept of fusion ( Colombian Chef and japanese culinary authenticity) and for having so many fish dishes on the menu. I was seated exactly at the right place: in front of the fired wood oven able to enjoy the chefs preparing the plates , I could see the experienced hands moving around without hearing the talks. The team works smoothly and noiseless together, you easily forget they are there as you start enjoying the servings. At the same time the staff is attentive, fun to talk to and I specially enjoyed to get some education into Japanese cuisine and Ikejime: a method of killing fish which maintains the quality of its meat. At HUMO they know their Ikejime, you can taste it❣️all dishes with fish were delicious and each has got its unique taste and presentation and the garden salad comes with a nice surprise in the bottom: the elevation of ordinary potato to a star 🌟 The only dish I was not quite happy with was the lamb. I found it cold, little bit too raw for my taste and too small, but this must have been an incident with my plate. And using buckwheat in dessert instead of wheat and not serving any kind of bread at all were 2 very welcoming things: A nearly gluten-free Michelin dinner accompolished ❣️🌟 Thank you for a wonderful dinner experience

The main steak was some of the most delicious bites I had in my life. All of the dishes we had were delicious. We had to wait longer for our table which is not typical for a Michelin star

Dinner for me and my wife on a Saturday night. We are in the taxi stuck in the traffic and I know we are going to be late for our 19.00 booking at Humo (1st time we are having dinner at Humo and we are looking forward to it), hence I call the restaurant and tell them we are going to be 10 minutes later. The cold answer comes "OK but you still have to give back your table after 2 hours after the original time", not even a sorry to hear that etc. Not a good start... 19h10 we are still in the taxi but literally around the corner, the reception calls back "where are you? you still need to vacate the table at 21.00"... Fast forward 2 minutes and we are now sitting down at the table and then have to wait a fair bit to get some attention (suddenly they don't seem to be in hurry!). We decide to order the tasting menu (our 1st time here, we want to have a god sense of what the chefs can do...) and here you go, straight comes the answer "sure but remember this table is already booked at 21.00" (tip to Humo: don't offer a tasting menu if you allocate only 2h slots and are unsure whether the tasting menu won't take more!). Anyway, we go through the menu (fast paced obviously - less than 1h30 in total) and it's already 20.45 or so. Not being asked whether we want tea or coffee, the bill is brought directly to us with ... a reminder (in case we could forget!) that we need to vacate the table by 21.00 (which we did). So in summary, we ordered tasting menus, cocktails and not an entry price wine and we are treated from the start to the end of the dinner as third class citizens. The food may be good (to be honest some courses better than other) but the haughty and arrogant service is appalling. We have had dinner in many (many) of London's best restaurants and I see no reason to go back to Humo to be treated in such way.

Well Humo is very difficult to assess for me. They praise themself as a wood fired restaurant, but to be honest, without the open fire at the back of the kitchen and the to much smoked scallops, I would not have noticed it. As example the lamb which was perfect, but definitely done sous vide and which - at least for my taste buds - with minimal contact to open fire. Do not t get me wrong: all the ingredients were very good, but often the “protein” was influenced too strongly by the sauce, which was also usually very citrus-oriented and therefore often seemed very interchangeable The wines and our sommelier - if he would not have disappeared before the main course - was perfect, but the coffee at the end was - sorry - impudent. The last time i have seen something so thin, was in an american diner For the final vote: Was it very good? No it wasn't, definitely. Was it average? No, it wasn't neither. But good isn`t a category Tripadvisor is offering.

Wow, what an evening, we were made so welcome and the atmosphere instantly set the scene for an amazing family night out. Our hosts explained everything to us and even helped us all chose based on their recommendations and clear experience. The food was out of this world and obviously so much attention had been put it to this to ensure that every flavor, texture and smell just worked. Best I have ever had. Then we even tried the dessert menu which is rare for us, this was again another level. I can not thank the Team enough for the perfect nights dining. Robbie came and chatted to us at the table which was just the added touch that we will always remember. Thank you Humo.

Humo - London - 16th February 2024 Tasting Menu Trout and Caviar + Azevedo Vinho Verde Garden Salad + Momenton Grenache Gris Mushrooms + Tidao Prawns + Ameixambar Lamb + Santa Maria Valley 2018 Nebbiolo La nube + L’allegorie Coteaux du Layon What a way to celebrate a birthday! E’s birthday, more an excuse to try tasting menus throughout the capital, is always wonderful, but we do think this is the best yet. After a couple of cocktails near Bond Street, this lovely restaurant was just a few minutes walk away. Upon entering, the fact that this was a newly crowned Michelin star restaurant was apparent. Little to no soft furnishings, and very Japanese in feeling, with staff all matching in dark colours. Two tasting menus were ordered very quickly, with the first Vinho Verde wine being served moments later. Unfortunately, for those with bad hearing, the descriptions given for both the wine and menu by the staff are almost lost in the background, so some descriptions cannot be put down. The crisp Vinho Verde paired very well with the salty canapé of brioche, piped cream, crispy chicken skin and Benito flakes, as with the first course proper - Trout. The salty punch of the caviar, along with the oilyness of the trout was superbly paired with the wine that cut through both - a great start. The second course - Garden Salad - was an item that could easily have been missed if not having the tasting menu. As very content meat-eaters, it is not a dish that pops off the menu for us, but it would have been a mistake to overlook this, and it is well worth ordering if not ordering the tasting menu. The pairing is not as good as the previous course, but that is mainly due to just how good the course itself is, with wonderful umami coming from the rare rokko miso sauce. J’s favourite dish of the night. Third - Mushrooms. This was when the smoke started to truly become apparent. First was a truffle being grated in front of us on the dish. No matter how ‘into’ food you get, there will always be something about seeing a truffle grated so generously on your plate that you immediately start to think ‘This is going to be great’. The smell was terrific off the dish, with a good variety of mushrooms used, and with the incredibly light savoury wine - Tidao from Gran Canaria - This dish was wonderful, and indeed was E’s favourite of the night, however, the smokiness of this dish could be too jarring for some. Prawns - instead of scallops that evening. The theatre of this dish could be seen throughout the restaurant. The restaurant is centred around it’s cooking station. A huge wood-burning fire, with prep taking place all around that area. With these prawns partially cooked using a ‘flambadou’ - which catches alight with dripping beef fat, the fireworks of this falling fat could be seen across the restaurant. Unfortunately, whilst the prawns and peas were vibrant, the spice added to it was overwhelming, and not in keeping with the rest of the dish. The sauce, however, had a wonderful viscosity to it, seemingly without using cornflour: a great piece of cookery. The Lamb - Potentially too pink for some, but to us, an absolute delight. The accompanying castelfranco and onion chutney were exceptional too, but the centre of the dish was the lamb. Sweet and succulent - we have never had lamb like it. The sauce paired with it though was a disappointment. The sauce was drawn to our attention not just once but twice. The server suggested that our last mouthful be just the lamb and sauce, however, the beetroot sauce on the day that we were there, was vaguely sweet, with no earthy beetroot notes, and added nothing of value to the dish. Seeing as this sauce was so highly regarded, we do wonder if something had been missed from the sauce that day. This doesn’t take away from the exceptional cooking of the lamb though. La nube - paired with L’allegorie Coteaux du Layon dessert wine. A sweet wine that was neither too sweet nor too sickly: light and refreshing. A great wine in its own right. The dessert though was a real mish-mash of flavours. Completely overwhelmed by passionfruit, which took over chocolate, biscotti and coffee elements of the dish, so much so that they became pointless additions to the dessert. A birthday treat - Rubia - dessert was saved by this birthday miniature. The dulce cream was wonderful and was a sweet highlight - like kinder bueno hazelnut cream dialled up to 11. The bill was a touch more expensive than anticipated. With menu prices on the website being stated as £126 each for the tasting menu, and £98 each for the wine flight, and receipt prices being £150 for the tasting and £115 for the wine flight, plus the service charge, the final bill was around £600 compared to a slightly more modest £500 from the online menu. Whilst most certainly Michelin star worthy and this price potentially be expected given the location, it was most certainly a surprise upon receiving. Overall, wonderful service, great food and great wine. It was a real treat.

I decided to come here for lunch (solo) when I saw it appear on the 2024 new star list and there happened to be availability. I was seated at the counter right next to the chef which was brilliant as I got to watch him prepare all the dishes and was impressed by his coordination to ensure meticulous service throughout by keeping the team well organised. The main reason this place is so impressive is because everything is cooked by wood fire which I was so aptly placed to see during my 7 course meal (I chose the 'Chefs Choice' menu). Minor gripe that the menu price when I booked was £108 but when I got there it had changed to £147 with one additional course being added. I took another look at their website when I got home, I realised they have advertised the menu differently depending on whether you click the ‘a la carte’ menu link (6 courses £126) vs the lunch menu link (6 courses £108). I was essentially charged the £126 + price for an extra course. I will contact the restaurant to make them aware – this is also the danger of having too many links on a website as well as being difficult to navigate. I will also mention now that the portion sizes were far too large for a tasting menu, some people may be happy but even for me who usually eats a lot struggled! I still ate everything though...To summarise my experience: I first received a hand towel infused with citrus, the type that 'magically' grows when you pour water on it. Personally I felt this was a little reminiscent of a 90s restaurant you would go to as a kid, this pre-food gesture could have been saved by the wonderfully promised 'citrus' aromas but to be honest I didn't smell anything and the towel was cold which was slightly unpleasant. A basic warm hand towel would have been much more favourable. Canapé 7/10 – Sour dough toast with some nice ingredients on top (don’t remember what exactly). Trout and Caviar 10/10 – Amazing, actually the one dish I would never complain about the generous portion size. Garden Salad 8/10 – I really enjoyed this dish, there were salad leaves on top of potatoes with a greenish sauce, it was very delicious with an umami flavour, I think it was a miso based sauce. I wish there was more of a dressing on the leaves however as that layer just tasted like leaves until you got to the good stuff. Wild Mushrooms 9/10 – Excellent, there were a variety of mushrooms and yolk sauce complimented well. A memorable dish. Scallop 6.5/10 – The dish was just too sweet for me… sweet scallops, sweet whiskey sabayon, sweet pear slices. It tasted more like a dessert and it’s a shame that I didn’t get the smokiness of the flame cooked scallop. That could have helped cut through the rest of the dish. Don’t get me wrong, I imagine it’s popular but I personally would have preferred a bit of acidity in the dish and perhaps replace the pear for celeriac to emphasise the earthiness of the wood fired scallop which quite frankly was lost. Monkfish 9/10 – Possibly the best cooked monkfish I’ve ever eaten, the entire dish was one of my favourites and the peppers served with it worked well. However, it lost a point because I’m pretty sure they forgot to season it. Really needed a pinch of salt to finish it off. Lamb 8/10 – The lamb itself was a 10 for me, I could have had a plate of those cutlets…the fat was beautifully rendered with an elegant char from the fire. The rest of the dish was OK but I think the lamb deserved better. The lettuce-type wedge on the side was nice but too large, awkward to cut and there was too much of the sweet relish on top. The red sauce artwork on the plate added further sweetness and if I’m totally honest made the dish look more like a murder scene amongst the already pinky-red meat, I’m sorry but I couldn’t stop thinking about this! I would have enjoyed visually and by taste a more savoury verde sauce to compliment the perfectly cooked pink meat and a smaller wedge on the side, maybe add some heat to the salsa/relish. Despite my feedback I still enjoyed the dish and would recommend. Dessert 10/10 – Couldn’t fault, up there with one of my best desserts. It was a chocolate dish with biscuit and mango. I’m sure there were other things but was too busy enjoying to remember. I also forgot to take a photo. The chocolate was the ingredient that really stood out, tasted like a million dollars. Petit Four 10/10 – Delicious cloud of cream. Drinks 10/10 - I had 2 x non-alcoholic cocktails, probably up there with even alcoholic ones I've had before, no idea what was in it. Overall excellent meal and refreshing to have something different. Where it got odd was after I was served the petit four, I think I was forgotten about… the waiters didn’t come to me for over 25 minutes until I decided to eventually call them over. I also didn’t get asked for coffee which I was so looking forward to but by the time I finally got the bill I kind of wanted to leave. I haven’t marked the restaurant down for this as everything else was great. The chef also served me a few dishes himself and checked that everything was OK and asked for feedback towards the end which showed his passion to improve and please the customer.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Every aspect was perfect. I began with an excellent Old Fashioned, and we sampled nearly every item on the menu, finding each dish delicious and unique. We were seated at the chef's table, which provided a unique opportunity to be near the chefs and even have a brief conversation with the head chef. We're definitely planning a return visit!

Starting with the positive aspects, the ambiance and overall interior is consistent and pleasurable. There is an intimate; yet still spacious feel. Unfortunately, that positive impression was the high point. The dishes are tiny even when ordering them as tapas and unlike a good tapas restaurant, there is no balance with the menu here so to find a balance of carbs, veg and protein was impossible. The ingredient quality itself was good and reflective of the high price. Every dish was cooked to the level you would expect from a restaurant which I suspect is aiming for a star within the next year or two apart from the turbot which was overcooked to the point I was amazed it escaped even the most unobservant chef. Service was professional if lacking in personality (there is a 15% service charge applied - Punchy!) An honorable mention to the mocktail I ordered for £14 which was 80% ice and no more than 250ml in total. Very disappointing - not to mention the Michelin star prices for a very unsatisfactory experience.

What a wonderful dining experience this was from beginning to end. We were met at the entrance welcome desk by a delightful lady who was a pleasure to talk to and who could not have welcomed us more warmly. We were then given a choice of seats at the counter to choose from and we were seated opposite the famous open flame grill and a ringside view of the open kitchen and the chefs creating their culinary magic. It was an honour and most informative being able to interact and speak with the super talented yet humble Executive Chef Miller Prada and his wonderful team, who were so kind and generous, especially as they were under the pressure of service. The service team were also great, professional and warm and left us wanting for nothing. All that food was delicious and of the highest quality, especially our mains dishes of lamb and Wagyu beef. It was a beautiful touch by Exec. Chef Miller Prada, who noticed that my Girlfriend and I were sharing all our early dishes in order to be able to taste everything, so he kindly split our main dishes into two separate plates without us even asking him.to do so, even though he doubled his workload by having to plate and garnish each half dish separately. Now that is what I call intuitive service and it was so very much appreciated by us both. As we left we were once again given a warm farewell by the hostess at the door. This is without doubt the most memorable dining experience that I have had the pleasure of experiencing for a very long time and I cannot recommend it highly enough, as your highest expectations will still be exceeded.

I had the happy experience of dining at the new Mayfair restaurant Humo last night and came away with the following thoughts: - wood fire grilling over wood embers burned in place with brilliant custom stainless steel grill designs and ventilation systems - inspired recipes with extremely well sourced ingredients - sommelier deserves his own award for thoughtful suggestions - service is engaging and attentive - food preparation team is super professional and a joy to watch so would recommend sitting at counter for best experience - the space is glamorous - absolutely top grill concept in London - several early reviews on Trip Advisor complained about small portions but this has clearly been addressed as portions are quite ample but people shouldn't go here unless they are fully prepared for prices: read menu online before complaining about prices afterwards

Other reviewers accurately describe quite comprehensively the surroundings, the nature of the food and even the layout of the tables. The staff/service was excellent and the food really was tasty…..but I found the four courses- plus a dessert- to be small in size. Attractive and with some lovely tastes, but small. However an enjoyable evening was had by all……well worth a visit.

We visited for dinner on a Saturday night. I loved the look and feel of the restaurant. It was dark and intimate, and the decor had been very tastefully done. It’s a small place with around half of the seating along a counter facing the open kitchen, plus one row of regular tables behind, which seemed to be mostly 2 seaters. We were seated at the counter and it was fascinating to see how different items were cooked based on proximity to the roaring open flames (the kitchen doesn’t use any electricity). Chef Miller himself served and briefed us on a few of our courses. The menu is split into 4 sections, and it was recommended that we ordered one item from each section per person. We were two people and ended up ordering the sea bream, yellowtail, cauliflower, salsify, scallops, lobster, turbot and the lamb cutlets. For dessert we tried their take on a creme catalan. The food ranged from pretty good to excellent, depending on the item. There was an emphasis on keeping things simple, using high quality ingredients and cooking them to a precise level. I have to disagree with some of the other reviewers here regarding portion sizes. The 8 dishes we had between 2 people (as recommended by our waiter) was enough to keep us satisfied, and I have a big appetite! Service was very attentive, and things moved along at a decent pace. Our bill came to £290, of which £85 was spent on drinks. This was definitely less than expected considering the quality of the food as well as the Mayfair location! Overall an excellent meal and one that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

The sunken table area is quite cool downstairs but we sat at a normal table. The atmosphere was super off with it being dead quiet with no music. Just an awkward atmosphere. The salmon sashimi was really good, super fresh! I had a rice bowl with steak as my main and it was just okay- it was pretty bland and could’ve done with a sauce, there was just so so much pickled ginger as well, it would’ve been nice to have some other veg. The waitress was amazing, super lovely and she was concerned when we left loads of food at the end but we were just so full!
