Humble Grape Canary Wharf in Tower Hamlets

Even though we live nearby, this was our first visit to this establishment. We shared various small dishes: calamari, nduja arancini, lamb chops (2), harissa chicken and choripan. We then opted to have wine by the glass rather than a bottle, so that we can try a few. About 35 different wines were offered by the glass. Unfortunately for me, I did not find any of them to be to my taste. My wife disagreed - so a matter of personal taste. Their bottle selection, however, was rather impressive. For our next visit - yes we did enjoy it and we shall return soon - I shall try to go with few friends so that we can share few bottles, instead by the glass.

We booked a table outside for 5. The weather was very hot, the service was excellent. Various tables were offered if we did not want to sit in the sun. The waiter was excellent noticed the tables he was looking after was very attentive served them very quickly nothing was to much in that heat he was excellent.

The initial waitress was wonderful, The Asian guy in the blue shirt was beyond rude,no customer Engagement, no customer service skills, In fact, looked put out when we asked for extra drinks. Our first visit to this pub in Canary Wharf It will be our last

Came here for an evening with family. The decor is modern and is has a really nice atmosphere. We enjoyed all the food and had an overall really nice evening. The lost star is only due to a mistake with our order which was indeed rectified but took a little while. Im sure on our next visit I can update this review.

Dinner with my girlfriend could not have been better, we didn’t go for any specific occasion but we were made to feel as though we were VIP clients, really good food and staff.

Very pleasant waterfront location on a summery evening. Victoria my server was friendly and well informed about the offers and the wines, I chatted with Alex the manager and I challenged him to find me refreshing white from the Italian lakes and he easily met the task. The chicken was a little watery which was disappointing, the mushroom tacos were a good portion size and had a nice heat. The bottle price for takeout was very competitive on several well known wines, but there was great range and there were plenty of surprises on offer too.

This really is a place with two faces.. Wed/Thu/Fri nights are rammed with after work parties (as is most of Canary Wharf). The rest of the week is nice and quiet, calm inside, attentive service.. (guess when we go!) The selection of wines are great, all organic/sustainable etc. Yes some of the wines can get expensive but I think you get what you pay for. Don't expect super market wines, they're all small vineyard, specialist growers. We liked it so much we joined up - £25 a month, and you get up to £80 of wine per month and a bottle for your birthday.. Bonus..:-)

We were a walk-up on a Wednesday night. After a quick look at the menu, we liked what we saw on it and inside looked nice with a good crowd for at bit of atmosphere. With no reservation, we were seated immediately. The seating would be my only complaint, a table for two, bench seat on one side and a chair on the other, no problem but the space between my chair and the table behind was quite limited, I sat at an angle so people could pass unhindered. The wine list is extensive and you also have the option to look at a range of bottles on shelves. We chose a lovely Bulgarian red from the shelves. Apparently most of their wines are exclusive to the Humble Grape from small to medium wineries. For starters we had a venison carpaccio and a cured sea bass. Both excellent dishes, packed with flavour. The citrusy punch on the sea bass was the winner. For mains it was Gnocchi lamb ragu and seared sea bream. Again, two very good dishes. My lamb ragu was a generous and hearty dish, perfect on a winter’s night and with the Bulgarian red, a winning combination!. (There was a bit too much watercress on mine as garnish, gave a “stringy” element which took slightly from it.) Two sides, fries and salad. We had one dessert, which had 5 or 6 lemon peel madelines on a citrus curd, which was plenty for us to share. The bill was not excessive for London, so would consider it good value. Top class food, excellent wine and attentive service, highly recommended

Good bistro type restaurant with good selection of wines. Helpful and friendly front of house and tasty food. Wines not cheap but had selections which aren't available in usual restaurants.

Did the bottomless Saturday and to be honest if you choose smaller plates you get 50% of the amount as per menu you read , so when you add it up you get £20 worth, no more😳 No added value. Order off main menu.😄 If you choose a main. We did, the steak priced £20 you get the steak !! order chips, pay extra😉 Order the bottomless drinks. You get 2 glasses of 125ml really quickly, then it slows to a snails pace … basically no value.😩Order a bottle !!! The bottomless Saturday looks appealing…… it’s not!! 😡 friendly staff until they realise you are at your quota. 🧐 Sad experience really. Food and wine..no complaints

Unfortunately, the service was terrible. We got our drinks and was handed a food menu, and was then left for over half an hour - the staff were so rushed off their feet we couldn’t get their attention. Not their fault at all, they were working as hard as they could, there just wasn’t enough of them. Ended up asking for the bill to be told we could just scan the QR code and pay a 12.5% service charge…for zero service. Shame as it’s a nice place/setting, the service just let it down.

Great food, great wine, great atmosphere, great service. The Humble Grape at Canary Wharf was recommended to us by a friend. We came in with great expectations and the experience exceeded our already high expectations. Thank you Alex and the staff for making this business night out so enjoyable!

Impolite host. He did not make our experience welcoming. Was very rude. The branch in battersea is better. Canary Wharf has a rude host. Ruining our experience. Wine was mediocre. There are much better wine bars in london. Do not recommend this one.

I had my retirement drinks at Humble Grape Canary Wharf. I wanted a space where I could celebrate with 120 friends and colleagues and everything about the place was just right. The venue is perfectly laid out for a big group of people. They spent time with me planning what I wanted and were so accommodating. The people that looked after us on the night were amazing, very friendly and attentive. The food and wine were spot-on and reasonably priced. Such a magical evening for all sorts of reasons, made perfect by such a great host venue. I couldn’t recommend the place higher. Thank you Humble Grape.

Popped in one Saturday afternoon for a quick few drinks. A decent selection of wines by the glass at good range of prices and it’s an ok place to spend an hour or so

Came here with some friends. Upon our arrival, I say “hi, we have a table for 8:30 under x”. The guy says “I’m sorry we don’t have a table for you!” And I reply “but I just called asking to postpone the time…” he insisted no table was booked. I got a feeling that he was trying to be funny which I didn’t appreciate at that moment. I share that if he’s joking it is not funny and I’m not in the mood for it. He tried to fix the situation. Didn’t work. Both my friend an I had octopus and it was very salty for both of us. The dish was so tiny that we had to order more, so we had some salmon that we shared. The salmon came out not cooked, so we had to send it back. The total bill was expensive. I personally paid 31.50 pound for 4 thin slices of octopus and half a dish of salmon that I shared with a friend. The salmon at the end was ok, but I just didn’t like the place overall so I won’t be going back.

Μόλις μπήκα μέσα, αισθάνθηκα ευπρόσδεκτη. Το φαγητό ήταν εκπληκτικό, σαφώς μαγειρεμένο με αγάπη και φρέσκο ισπανικό προϊόν. Η υπηρεσία ήταν μοναδική, μας έκανε να αισθανόμαστε σαν οικογένεια και όχι ως φιλοξενούμενοι.

Turned up 12 minutes late (exactly) to our table booking, after ringing the restaurant and attempting to inform them that we would be arriving slightly late, since my partner is disabled and we struggled to travel the long distance from the tube stop. I spoke to a staff member and told him that I have a reservation for 2. He just replied saying “yeah… That was at quarter to ten, not this time” I said “yes I’m very sorry we are late” and tried to explain the situation, but he cut me off and said the best he could do is offer me a quick drink. How can a dinner reservation turn into a quick drink in a matter of 12 minutes??? I said to him “it’s only been like what? 10 minutes?” And he just said “kitchens closed, you can have a quick drink”. They closed at 11pm, it was 9:57. I appreciate that the kitchen closes before the entire establishment, but WHY accept a booking for 9:45 if you are going to let people travel all the way to your restaurant and just turn them away for being 10 minutes late? People are late to bookings all day long, I’ve worked in hospitality for years and it is possibly one of the most likely things to ever happen in a restaurant, other than people eating food. We had made it a relationship tradition for us to come to humble grape every time we go to London, because we absolutely adored the food, and we have always had a fantastic experience. But thanks to the extremely rude and condescending member of staff, we won’t be coming back. I understand that the world doesn’t revolve around us and that you can’t wait forever for people, which is why we would have understood if the staff member we spoke to was even the slightest bit apologetic. When you work in hospitality, you apologise for any minor inconvenience, however small it may seem, it’s just a way of life for most people. But it was the sarcastic attitude and instant blame, without even giving me a chance to explain why we might have been late (or answer our calls to notify you prior to arriving late in the first place) and the condescending look on his face. You had two lifelong repeat customers right there, who have told everyone that would listen to us about how amazing your restaurant was on previous visits, and you ruined it with about 3 short sentences and a facial expression.

Absolutely disgusting attitude from staff member when we were 10 minutes late after attempting to ring multiple times. We were refused our reservation after travelling such a long way. But the attitude of the staff member who spoke to my partner was most disappointing, 15 minute grace period is offered at most restaurants, but to then be refused and spoken to so rudely after our long journey and previous history of support was out of line. We have been before and spent £100s of pounds on just one bill. Least we could have expected was a positive and understanding attitude. You’ve lost our custom. I understand staff want to pack up and go home at the end of the night but there was no excuse for the tone in which my partner was spoken to.

Loved this place. Menu is fantastic and good offers on Monday. I will definitely return. The burrata is good and so are the padron peppers.

The Humble Grape has completely ruined my Valentine's Day dinner with my partner. Clearly, from other customers reviews on Google, it wasn't just our Valentine's Day evening that was ruined, it has sadly happened to others as well. We arrived on time for our reservation....

From the begging to the end my birthday family dinner was just perfect ! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly , we’ve been looks after so so well . I couldn’t ask for more ! Alex and Fernanda went extra mile to meet my need...

Alexandru made my birthday special, beyond welcoming helped us with wine recommendations and made sure we get the best. Started with his favourite sparkling cremant rose and a flight of Riesling then a superb chilled red to go with the delicious food. Definitely coming back.

The food was amazing, tasteful and enjoyable. The wine was affordable and high quality. The staff were friendly an accommodating. They had limited heaters but supplemented that with lots of blankets. I would definitely visit again.
