Burgers were ok but basic, a bit unseasoned. The sides however were very poor. We got the spice bag fries and chicken wings and they were bad. The fries were bland, dusty, soggy and didn’t taste anything like how they should have been. The wings were fresh and crispy but who in 2025 sells unseasoned, plain wings? The Diet Coke was actually fake unbranded ‘cola’ which wasn’t advertised and was priced the same as branded coke would have been. The rooftop terrace was empty on a sunny pay day so it tells you what you need to know. Service was great and vibe in the actual restaurant was nice. I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Food and atmosphere were good I just ordered the wrong item from the menu. Should of had a burger they looked nice. I was introduced to dirty fries which I will definitely be ordering again. They have a nice roof terrace area which I am going to try and book next time if the weather's nice.

Very tasty food and lots of gluten free options. Portions are not the largest, certainly not the cheapest, but worth the money. Service was very nice. Restaurant is unfriendly. The smoked BBQ burgers are particularly recommended. Fries too weak for my taste and not crispy enough, but they are only side dishes, so it's better to order one more main course.

The welcome and service was great. The burgers were superb and so we're the sides (skinny fries, Aggy fries and onion rings).

Update (original review below): Still really good for coeliacs - thank you! - but for the first time we were very disappointed with today's lunch. The chips (which are usually great) were really flaccid and unimpressive, and having been told that they had run out of ginger beer, we then saw other orders - made after ours - given ginger beer. Frankly, we were very disappointed. As we are limited for choice by our coeliac children, we have always championed Hub Box and recommended it to others, but after today's experience, we feel unlikely to return soon. Superb food and brilliant service; especially for our coeliac children! We've been there three times now, and it's been great each time. Fantastic chicken burgers!

One of our friends recommended Hub Box as the place to have the best burger in Exeter, and we weren't disappointed! Only negative point: I had to battle with the clunky app - I'd rather place my order with a human being and would have liked to have that option... Apart from that, great place to eat, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

I’ve ordered breakfast from here multiple times and just remembered to leave a review , the staff are amazing go above and beyond (bear in mind i ordered it ! ) so lovely , food is amazing and their iced coffee are top notch xx

This was a special mothers day / birthday treat from my daughter. Got a table no problem. Drinks / food ordered drinks arrived my glass for my coke was dirty asked for a replacement glass, which was very slow to arrive, when it did it was again dirty asked for another. Food arrived the chips were cold asked for replacement along with glass or at the least a straw so I could drink my drink. Replaced chips arrived which we re generated (same chips put back in the fryer) at this point I asked for the manager who the person who brought the chips said she was. In her explanation of the reason why glasses were dirty blamed staff shortage, she continually talked over me, was rude and just walked away. Finished the burger which was good I must say. We had eaten in the Taunton branch a few times so had no concerns or worries about eating here whilst in Exeter. As this was a special treat I felt it was spoilt by the poor attitude and rudeness of the staff and poor quality. My daughter did not pay the full price but a fair price for what we had. Would not recommend or visit again

Falafel burger dripping with greese, chipes fried twice, if you want bad health, then this is the place to go. Not good for vegans, not much choice but the service was nice.

We came for my daughters 18th birthday. Very poor customer service, and no acknowledgement whatsoever of her special dsy even when proven by her ID so she could order a cocktail. Burgers were falling apart as well. We won't be returning.

Good food served fresh. Tasty milkshakes. But that’s about where the great things to say end. We had a walk in ask for a table for 3 at about 7:45pm. Service staff approached us several times whilst we were still eating asking us if we were finished, 2 hours before closing time, at one point whilst I still had my burger obviously in my hand and I’m chewing some food, plenty of food on the table with the other guests - so it felt quite interrupting and pushy. The first time I could understand for maybe a staff member’s first day. The third time across multiple members of staff kind of irked us. Asked several times by multiple staff if we needed a drink when we’d order them and were waiting for them. 2 hours from closing time we saw staff turn away several walk ins even when there were free tables and the entire upstairs section was vacant - so I strongly advise you book in advance otherwise you may get turned away for a reason that I wouldn’t be able to explain or understand. Staff obviously not overworked. Kitchen still serving food out and takeaways once those folk got turned away. So food was good. Prices are ok. But surreal that the staff didn’t really want anyone there past 8pm considering its open until 10pm. A strange way to do business and makes me question going back to it or their other branches.

We popped in The Hub box on a whim. It looked welcoming from the outside. I'm not really into burgers but WOW! This was the best burger meal ( Big Kuhuna ) I have ever tasted the dirty fries were amazing too 😋 The staff were very attentive and super polite. I have recommended this restaurant to everyone I know. *****

Very disappointing, I had the Dirty Club burger (their most expensive chicken burger) and it was so, SO bland, it lacked any real flavour despite how plentiful the menu made it seem. My partner agreed his was also not the best, and definitely not worth what our bill was at the end. Would not return.. 🫤

Food was really nice. Staff were attentive, we got seated straight away and served quickly, but i do think its expensive for what you get almost £15 for a burger on its own chips or sides are all extra for that price i would expect to at least get chips or salad with it i wouldnt have minded the £15! Been to plenty of places just as nice where you actually get a full meal!

I’ve been here a couple of times to eat in and we ordered home recently. All our experiences have been amazing. Staff are lovely and the resturant has such a nice vibe. Burgers are one of the best in town and for the price which is on the pricier side, you definitely get your moneys worth. Lots of menu options and all food was tasty! Would recommend

What an amazing restaurant with unique and delicious food! The service was great, with kind and smiley staff that were attentive and helpful. The food was eye opening, and I tried to recreate it soon after visiting, only to have a slightly disappointing version! I will definitely be back.

Disgusting cold breakfast. Inedible toast as rock hard! Tiny portions of cold beans served on cold plates. Shame as was looking forward to it 🙁

I do like this place a lot, good burgers, good choice, good beer, good service, good broader menu and not too pricey. If you want a decent dirty burger this is the place

The place is nice but nothing more. The potatoes are good but little else. The meat of the hamburgers and the sauces yes. But the bread is of very low quality, and the rings have an oily batter that you will never want to try again. I don't understand why such high ratings. They deceive people.

Service was very good however food overpriced and kids hot dog burnt to a crisp on one side.

So SO filling! Wonderful atmosphere and the waiter was efficient and friendly. We reserved a seat and got the perfect spot- exactly what we asked for. The milkshakes were the highlight of our visit, and were very sweet, much to our liking. The burgers were delicious, although large enough to fill you up on their own, and I would want a bit more veg, but overall a fantastic experience. Would come again!

Very good value for money. Good choices on the menu and an easy going atmosphere. Service was a little slow but the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We booked a table at 7:30 and a lovely lady called us to let us know that there will be a event upstairs. We still attended the 7:30 reservation and I can’t believe the service, it was still absolutely immaculate. Our waitress had black hair and glasses. She apologised for the noise which we told her it was amazing entertainment, even though they had an event on we got our drinks so quickly and the lady was so lovely that is made our visit incredible. Cant stress enough how much the lady was on the ball and how she made our night amazing even though they were really busy. Food was also amazing

Came here as the Gluten Free Offerings were immense and we sometimes struggle finding a large selection to choose from. Great atmosphere, great friendly staff, great choice of food and drinks, thankyou guys am sure we will be back!

I went into Hubbox on Monday to check for seating that matches my accessibility requirements. Having selected a table I made a reservation online for the Thursday with a note to reserve a specific seat. Upon arriving 5 minutes early, the seat was taken by 2 people and even though we had requested that specific seat, Hubbox had live music that night, who had been told to set up in area I had booked. I spoke to the front of house staff on the night who were unapologetic and unhelpful, so we left. No call ahead to warn me of the changes, No follow up call or apology since. And I have also been charged £5 as a 'no-show'.

Expensive and incredibly average.

Nice enough food but had 2x problems from this place now. Being told no vegan buns for my vegan friends so they had to have the burgers without buns. And the 2nd time food didn't come out at the same time which ment one person had to eat on their own because we had all finished before their food came out.

The food was good. I had the vegan falafel burger, which is always a bit underwhelming, usually. This one was better than usual, but I still always prefer a meat-based vegan burger, but they aren't in the deal... The drinks were quite watery. But, the fries made up for it. I ordered some beer-battered onion rings which were HUGE. Great value for money, but they were also VERY greasy and dripped with oil. The food looked great and tasted fresh, but just lacked a bit of something. Service was OK. The place was clean with enough space.

My boyfriend and I visited Hubbox this evening and was served by Jonathan. He was very attentive and went above and beyond for us. The dirty fries were amazing, and we will definitely return.

Slightly slow service but delicious food

Service was excellent, really loved the experience and the atmosphere but sadly the food wasn't to the same level. Have eaten here many times previously and been very impressed, so possibly it was an off night for the kitchen team. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, just not great either.

Visit a few weeks ago. We had to wait for ages for our food to come out despite it being relatively quiet - We were ignored by the staff both when trying to order and when trying to pay - and we weren't granted the student discount as advertised on an A board outside. This place used to be so good when it was on Sidwell Street - what happened!?

Good burger, friendly staff, nice vibes!

We arrived at 7:20 with no booking, on arrival they didn’t mention a long wait for food. We ordered food at roughly 7:35pm. After waiting an hour we asked the waitress how much longer the food would be, we were told it would be 5 minutes, then after 10 more minutes of waiting they offered a free drink. Our food finally arrived after waiting for an hour and 20 minutes. One of the meals was wrong but at that point we couldn’t be bothered sending it back. The atmosphere was good, usually we have a nice time but this time was a let down. I would avoid when it’s busy. Overall service could have been more attentive on arrival about the wait and throughout.

ordered at 6pm, dispatched from restaurant at 6.25. . . delivered after 8pm. Cold. in the meantime, had to order from another supplier. Didn't eat the food as it was far too late and cold. Hugely disappointed. I want a full refund. Terrible service.

Ultimately it comes down to the food for me. I purchased a cheeseburger and chips and for the price, the portion size was tiny. The cheeseburger was nothing special and the house pickles tasted a little off. Not impressed, especially compared to other places I’ve visited recently. The service was great though, everyone was really nice and attentive.

Booked to have dinner here after a day in Exeter - and I have to say, it was far better than I expected. It is very easy to get burgers wrong... but Hubbox absolutely smashed it. We were seated quickly, orders taken promptly and food arrived fast and hot. Burgers were good, fries were good - the sides and drinks were real stars. The mac and cheese side was by far the best I've ever had out, and the coating on the halloumi fries was great. Would recommend the elderflower cooler - add the pear vodka and it tastes like Robinson's Pear Juice - and the grapefruit cooler as is: both delicious. Desert menu is small and simple, but we'd eaten enough that it wasn't needed. Great for a quick (but substantial!!) bite to eat.

We looked online for Gluten Free places to eat. Hub Box in Exeter seemed ideal, the menus clearly state GF & DF. When we arrived I told them my allergens Wheat, Gluten, Dairy & Soya. There was not a problem. My Son ordered a Big Kahuna & I had a Hub OG. We had extras of Skin on fries, Hub Slaw & YES GF onion rings. The roll for mine was GF/DF too. I decided to try the Passion Fruit Cooler & I was not disappointed it was absolutely delicious. They put vegan cheese on my choice of burger instead of the regular cheese too. I felt very safe eating there. The staff were very knowledgeable & double checked with the kitchen about any of my concerns. The meal was fantastic, lots of it & piping hot.

Lovely dinner with the kids a few evenings ago. The burgers were delicious, I appreciated that the vegan option was not fake meat. The fries were yummy and great drink options. Service was brilliant too. The kids loved that thier menus could be made into chatterboxes too!

I was staying in the hotel opposite which was lovley but was awake early so decided to go out for coffee and a cigarette but nothing open the doors were open to the hub box so decided to ask if they were open they were lovley and said not for another hour, I explained what I was looking for and they said they would be happy to make me a coffee so I could sit and watch the world go by with my coffee and cigarette I was on my hen weekend just wanted a few moments to myself I really appreciate that they were not open but willing to help me out, big thumbs up to you guys ,went to the ivy the previous night and didn't get that level of service so thank you

Burgers taste very good, not too special but the taste buds are definitely satisfied, but unfortunately not enough for the prices, burgers are small and come without any extra side dishes, but that's the only point of criticism, otherwise a mediocre good burger shop.

Lovely place, especially the upstairs seating was beautiful and we liked the look of the outside upper seating area. Friendly staff and nice food at affordable prices. The wait was a little longer than expected, but then it was fairly busy when we visited.

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant and a must visit. The food is amazing and the staff are kind and friendly. They are also great for dietaries and very knowledgeable about their menu.

Brillient service and food. Can't fault it.

One of the best places in town to have burgers. We had the Oklahoma and All stars burgers and they were amazing! However, it had a lot of mustard that covered the great burger taste. I also highly recommend the Mother Culcker loaded fries and the garlic & parmesan loaded fries.

We came in at around 4pm on a Tuesday and we're quickly seated at a table of our choice, the music is clear but not overbearing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to specific food requests, as well as providing vegan sauces. Our server Viking was outstanding with a cheerful demeanour and was patient when we were ordering. Our food was brought over in about 10 mins, and everyone agreed it was top 3 on their burger list. Overall, very impressed, especially with Viking's service.

food quite tasty, disappointing that I had to pay extra for fries as none of the mains had them included.....makes lunch a little on the expensive side to do it regularly....come on guys, you'd be surprised at how many more people would come if you just did that one simple thing. the burgers were ok, nothing that would stand out from anywhere else...on the whole, an anticlimactic lunch , and they tried to charge me twice....luckily my bank spotted the mistake.

If Hub Box was correctly priced I'd rate it higher, the burgers are lovely but overpriced, the fries are lovely but overpriced and the drinks are nice, but overpriced. Personally for me, when I pay £5-10 for fries/dirty fries, I'd expect a decent portion, but you get what I'd call a kids portion at Hub Box. Likewise with burgers costing £10-20 (no fries included), I'd expect at least 1/2lb/16oz burgers, however Hub Box rather cleverly or stupidly don't tell you the burger weight on the menu. I would guess Hub Box's burgers are 12oz max (possibly lighter), definitely overpriced and certainly taking the piss with fries not being included with £10-20 burgers.

What is the service charge for? Why is it compulsory? I already paid for the food, and the delivery.

It was a bit pricey for the quality of the food, I had ceaser salad which turned out to be one of the most disappointing versions I've had. The food wasn't terrible it was just ok but at these prices I expected more.

Not a great experience. The chicken was drenched in oil, the chips were cold and when we asked them to replaced they put them in the microwave and came out floppy. The cherry cocktail was more like a coke with a drop of rum without the cherries in an ikea glass..

I visited Hub Box in Exeter yesterday and ordered the Dirty Club. The taste was decent, but the standout aspect of this place is its atmosphere, making it an excellent spot for gathering with friends. Every time I come here, I find it incredibly comfortable.

Hubbox has become a firm favourite as it is dog friendly, and my friend is able to order such a wide variety even with a gluten free requirement

Food here was absolutely incredible. I had burger and chips and it was amazing and worth every penny! Deffinetly worth visiting and eating here. It has two floors with lots of seating and well priced. ## update ## I came here 6 months later and thr food was still just as incredible and my wife said its the best burger shes ever had!

I have been a loyal customer for quite some time. I was absolutely shocked to see what was brought out to me. I ordered the Big Kahuna burger and mother clucker fries. So just my meal without drinks was nearly £26. The burger looked like it was thrown together by Stevie wonder, and was very lop sided. It did not look at all pleasant to look at and I have no idea why it was called the Big Kahuna? I've had a Big mac from McDonald's bigger. My wife's Big cheese (Halloumi) was bigger. The food tasted good, not amazing!! But certainly was not worth the money. Unfortunately this will be my last time dining at hubbox. The staff were great and always smiling, so I still tipped when paying for the bill.

Hubbox is my favourite place to eat in Exeter. The team are so friendly (shoutout to Kate and Lydia) and the food is absolutely unreal. I would 100% recommend Hubbox to everyone.

A group of us came here for breakfast on Sunday whilst on a weekend break. We were slightly past the cut-off service time but the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Really friendly with great food and service. Thank you!

Lunch with friends here and the food was great! Atmosphere loses a star because the music was so loud we struggled to hear each other and the staff, wheelchair accessibility was fab though The jalapeño cheese bites were 🤤

Mhm delicious was the feeling with every bite, I had a really nice burger, with a shake which was very nice, it filled me up the whole meal, I had an excellent server as well!

Been here a couple of times now on a Saturday evening without a reservation. The staff are always really helpful and honest about how long you might have to wait (although we've never waited as long as they said!). Fantastic food and great drinks. All reasonably priced!

Only had drinks but other people's food looked good. Loved watching the children on the next table playing with the magnetic cutlery. Very friendly staff and great ambiance.
