Lovely atmosphere great service lovely food

Called for tea this evening, decided on the carvery. Unfortunately ended up a little disappointed. Whilst the Beef was very nice, the turkey was hard and dry. The yorkshire puddings were also very dry and crispy as if they had been sat under the lights on the hot plate for some time, this was the same for the stuffing. Maybe this could be monitored better, and food not left for a long period. The vegetables were better and really tasty.

Visited for a family birthday, all different meals ordered, we all enjoyed our meals. Carol was wonderful with serving us food and drinks, thank you

Our visit was via an easy on line booking process, greeted by friendly staff as always here. This has become one of our favorite family venues for a traditional pub meal. Great selection of beers on tap and a good atmosphere.

Absolutely shocking carvery today no taste to it at all

Me and my friends (4 of us total) had been to bingo on wheatley hall road and popped in for some food afterwards. The menu was nicely varied as usual and I'd didn't take me long to find things I fancied. Ordering was really easy using the QR code and ordering drinks at the bar was also easy. They also had my favourite Rose behind the bar which was a nice treat. Lovely staff as usual too, and my friends and I had a great time. Thank you 😊

Lovely carvery, fresh and nicely cooked. Lovely puds too. We weren't hurried and we were able to take our time. It was nice for the little ones too in the indoor play area. Only downside was the waiting/serving staff lacked finesse just dumping dishes on the end of the table and snatching away any dirty ones. Mostly just young people who perhaps need a little training or guidance.

Came in 3 of us for some food on 9th Oct. First time we’ve been in and everything was great, I had fish and chips, others had Cowboy burger and Gammon steak and all food was really nice and good portions. Service was pretty quick and staff were wonderful aswell. Shout out to Jo who helped serve us and rest of staff who unfortunately I didn’t get their names, will 100% come again!

Family of 4, main meals and desserts ordered. Service was good, very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food was nice, 2 of us had carvery and 2 main meals, all were good, empty plates all round. Our deserts were also very nice. Only positives here, I would recommend trying it.

Carvery was great. What was really poor is that an advertised pint of lemonade at £3.85 is not a pint of lemonade. We ordered a pint and got about 2/3rds. The excuse given was that the post mix fountain dispensed a fixed amount that accounted for ice. What absolute twaddle! If you advertise a pint you have to supply a pint. Measures must be the size stated on the price list and should not be "short" or greater than the stated measure. Ice can be added to post-mix products before pouring them into a glass if the customer requests it. In this case we didn’t want ice so you short measured us. Sam the manager twice blamed the equipment saying it was a standard 20fl oz measure. When poured into a measured pint glass it was significantly less, so he blamed the ice. He finally gave us another lemonade “as it’s for the little one” which I found quite condescending. I have also written to Doncaster Trading Standards.

Well, after nearly been driven into by one of the staff, she said her foot slipped but she was obviously late. The carvery was cold and it was only 1215.

Warm welcome. Pleasant, cheerful staff. Quality of the pies we had were fantastic.

Friendly and prompt service. Good varied menu, and good value for money. Didn't order food so couldn't rate that in particular.

The pub has a good atmosphere, staff are friendly. The desserts and drinks we ordered were brought to our table quickly and were nicely presented.

Great food and friendly service, could do with more staff though as they were run off their feet and people were queuing for a while at the bar.

Ordered the fish finger sandwich which came with chips. Was expecting home made but they was the kids frozen ones. Even saying that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sometimes the basic lunches are the best. Chips was beautifully cooked as well. Jo and the other staff were very pleasant and efficient. Plenty of seats even though we never booked.

Went to the House Martin today to celebrate an 80th birthday...Linzi allowed me to leave table decorations and sorted these for us, greeted us when we arrived, provided intolerance menu, made some delicious recommendations and was brilliant throughout our visit. All staff friendly and food was delicious...would recommend and send thanx to all staff 😊

I've been to the house Martin quite a lot and it is always a great environment. The food is good value for money and the staff are fantastic. Both linzi and troy served me today and both have fantastic customer service. Would definitely recommend 👌

2024: HBH Return to The House Martin for the first family get together since COVID. Staff were, again, very helpful regarding food allergies. All 4 of us found lovely meals. Our only minor issue was finding how to access the car park from the 'wrong' side of the dual road outside. The building is thankfully easily spotted from the road. 2019: Pre booked as there were 6 of us, with us coming from Australia. We have met up here before. Extremely helpful staff at the bar and food service and a brilliant allergy app. My standard beer batter fish n chips was shown as dairy free in the app. But after ordering the chef came out to say he was unsure about the beer batter mix [bought in not homemade] on checking the ingredients it listed milk as 'may contain'. Top marks to the staff for looking out for this. Modern Marstons chain of restaurants, clean and friendly, family orientated.

If the carvery was served in jail there would be a riot. All meat extremely dry aswell as the veg. Gravy like tar. Yorkshire pudding like cardboard. You could play cricket with the stuffing balls.

The Staff was very attentive and polite they went out of their way to make myself and my family very comfortable and no request was to difficult for them with a smile on their faces my family would like to thank them all for what I would call a 5 star service kindest regards John

We took my parents today .Lovely food quick service, lovely friendly staff. Our waitress Linzi was lovely . A good time was had by all on this scorching hot day.

We had a family meal here(15 of us). Nothing was too much trouble. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of space with an indoor play area. Food was yummy. What a good find.

Always like going there but now they charge 3.99 for a pint of coke they stop going coke refill it's a shame

Went out for a carvery last night, not much of a choice as there were only a few pieces of each meat left. I cose turkey even though the little piece that was on the platter looked dry, which I did state to the chef. I wasn't wrong either, the gravy didn't even help soften it. My partner had beef and not like him to not be able to eat it as he loves meat. The veg was very dry as wasn't much left in the pots.Do the cooks/ management ever sample the food that's cooked? I'm sure if they did they wouldn't serve it. We did complain and the waitress did say sorry and just cleared our plates away. This is only the second time we have been to the House Martin and on both occasions we have been dissatisfied. Definately won't be going again!!

We could not get the app to work to enable me to order from our table as we were 2 disabled people. We eventually ordered 2 carvery’s and despite it looking delicious, it was far from that. The beef had some awful texture and taste to it that after 1 mouthful I left it, the jacket, sorry supposed roast potatoes were rubber like and the whole thing left an awful after taste. Roasted veg was the only edible item. We won’t be back and should maybe stick to what we know

Me and my mum ordered fish and chips. Our meal came with fish that was dark brown batter clearly over cooked. The fish was rock hard could literally pick it up whole hit it on the plate and it didn’t break. The waitress was lovely bless her and she tried her best to sort it but we had to wait then for the kitchen to cook another meal ending in me and my mum eating alone in a family meal. My dad mentioned a 30% deal he had and some staff tried saying it was him who owed money eventhough it was their mistake. We got a free piece of cake but the cake was disgusting it tasted artificial. Would avoid here

Wonderful food! The ultimate southern fried chicken burger really is ultimate! The staff are always friendly every time we have eaten here and they also say hello to the babies! The general public that come here are always a friendly crowd too! Family friendly!

Come today for x2 carvery’s. Poor choice of vegetables. They were dry and hard. Meat was very dry. Roast potatoes hard due to being sat there all day. Yorkshire puddings are crisps. Very poor and disgusting and not edible. Left mine what a waste of money.

Great service, good mains, dessert was the big cake (Neapolitan mint) which was a little dry, edible but not as good as anticipated.

I had popped in for a drink the other day, I was served by Shannon who was great. Emily had made sure everything was okay for us but overall the whole team is welcoming and friendly.

Every few weeks my family meet here for food , drinks and conversation. Staff always friendly and helpful, food never disappoints and drink selection is good and reasonably priced. The fact that we keep coming back tells you all you need to know .

I had a lovely experience at house martin on the 11th May 2024/ i attended with my Husband and the server Jo was very helpful snd polite. The carvery was lovely and I will be returning.

We used to visit the house Martin a couple of times a week but after a while found the food wasn’t so good..our first visit back in over 8months and we were very pleasantly surprised how lovely the meals were..will definitely be back

My friends been before and I brought her elderly husband for lunch as he likes it there. The food was lovely I even took a meal home for my partner, staff service was excellent. Would absolutely recommend we’ll be going back again.

The "House martin" is one of our favorite pubs to visit. It is very friendly pub. The food is just great. It is always very tidy and clean, and the staff are just lovely. Nothing is too much bother for them. It is also very handy for the Shopping Center. Prices are very reasonable.

Only went to deal with RSPB pin badge box. Staff pleasant and helpful. Food looked good

Firstly I love the fact that all the food even individual carvery items were calories. The carvery was very good but not exceptional. The staff were lovely and accommodating. The pub was clean and well presented. I would revisit but try something from the menu rather than carvery
