Hotel Strand Continental in City of London, Westminster

I stayed here 20 years ago, and it is my most memorable stay in London. Furniture in the room was broken, very noisy all night in the hotel. Breakfast was just us! But, hey, it was cheap.

To be honest, it's not 5 stars, but at $135 for a single room in the center of London, it's cheap. If you are a princess don't go there. Shared shower and toilet. There is also a dormitory for less money. Very close to the British Museum, National Gallery, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Courtauld Gallery and also Coven Garden. The area is very lively and it's almost impossible to go to bed before 10 p.m., too much noise. Temple metro station (underground) 2 steps away. Lots of restaurants nearby. If you want to see London for cheap it's ideal.

Great location-price ratio. And it's not as bad as you may think.

It was very dirty and the cleaning staff kept walking into our room without knocking. Not good!!!!!!

Absolutely brilliant hotel. Stayed for 1 night and we enjoyed the whole experience. Fantastic location, lovely interior, superb staff, clean surroundings, the room although slightly small, did not spoil our time, supplied with a range of tea and coffee, water in a bottle and lovely chocolate. The room was clean and modern. Breakfast was out of this world, spoiled for choice with a huge range of varieties including continental and a full English breakfast plus so much more. Nobody watches what you eat and you can Absolutely enjoy everything if you have the appetite. I would stay here again, thoroughly good stay.

Clean, very central, very friendly reception staff, nice, clean lounge, comfortable beds. I'll always come back.

Dream geographical location but place, dirty, dilapidated, noisy. Pipes gurgling all night, windows blocked, sink cracked, taps not fixed and hot/cold water reversed (I thought I had no hot water until I filled the kettle with what I thought was cold water), toilet not fixed to the floor and rickety, shared showers with no way to hang your things, shower door missing, everything was flooded. Wifi barely accessible and provided you go down to the first floor in a corner of the living room. Given the state of the hotel, I did not try its restaurant...

Strand is an ICON hotel with lots of stories from the past when he was in splendor

DO NOT GO THERE IN WINTER the heating didn't work and we were freezing cold the whole nights we told them and they didn't even care and just gave us stupid excuses we got sick because we were so freezing the great location could even compare to that in summer if you want to save some money it can be great but otherwise invest in your well beeing

Very good place to stay considering the location. Stayed here in august 2023 with a group of friends, all of us being under the age of 18, so they allow people from the age of 16 to check in. Great place for the price, and really good service

LOCATION FIRST OF ALL You have to understand something, this hostel is trash, BUT... If you don't care about the minimum comfort, this place is barely okay because of location and price. It's really close to everything. The bathrooms are lame and they didn't have even lamps. The shower is horrible. The room was so hot. I read some reviews about the hotel in the winter. I wouldn't go in the winter if I was you. At reception they gave me a sheet and that is it. The room never was cleaned during the 3 days I stayed there. Really, I can't describe how awful it was even I try my best. The place is a fire hazard. Every night I went bed thinking how to manage out of the building if something happened. I would come back? If I'm alone, probably. But just because I don't care that much about comfort and I spent the whole day outside ,I only came back to sleep.
