A room with an awesome sea view. No balcony but that was no problem as it was cold! The bed was comfortable, the window large enough to sit on and plenty of teas and coffees. Only minor thing was the tiny shower cubicle, wouldn’t stop us returning. The location is fantastic, close to the beach and centre of town. Breakfast was generous and set us up well for the day.

Perfect location . Best place to sit and have a drink overlooking bay . Nice modern room (room 4 ) seaview.Comfy bed but NO pillow protectors , i slept on my towel over pillow . Must get pillow protectors though asked cleaner for them and was told its Marstons policy to not use them . Never been anywhere before that dont have all bedding protectors. Bathroom though very dirty .Mould on ceiling above shower just needs a wipe , dirty gungy extractor fan , rusty slime on soap dispenser over sink . Black smudge on shower skirting board , thick dust ontop of sink light .All just needs washing . Unscrew bathroom light and get all black bits out .Would of been nice to have cleaned before customer arrives , i saw as soon as walked in the bathroom so dont know how cleaners miss this . Very cheap thin toilet rolls. Good breakfasts .Main food ok . Lee behind bar smiley and friendly as was barman with ponytail . Bar was nice , love the touch of fairy lights but the white chairs were very black ( dirty from hands) again need washing or repainting . Dog friendly place so thats good . Would stay again if could just improve on the cleanliness of bathroom and got all bedding protectors as it has the best central location and great to sit on front having a drink watching the dolphins in the bay .

Ordered 2 steak and ale pies, when they arrived both stone cold, staff didn't appear bothered, waited 15 minutes for replacement meals, the pastry was so over cooked it was like cardboard and the steak was practically non existent, the gravy was like water not even offered a complimentary drink, how difficult is to heat a pie 🙄

Good beers and lovely food, although they could do with a fixed bar staff member as there times food (obviously) took preference. Nice and clean throughout, specials were offered without prompt and staff took time with us . Thank you v much

Great pub with rooms. Room 1 is at the back but you still get a bit of a sea view. Shower is a bit tight if your a lump like me. The staff are really friendly and service is spot on. Special mention to Colin and his loud shirts, who is the cellar man and his beer is perfect. Would deffo stay here again in this beautiful part of Wales. Oh yeah also got to see dolphins from the harbour wall

My sister and I had a lovely week in New Quay at the beginning of May. We spent many a happy hour on the terrace drinking cider and talking to the locals and holiday makers. We will be back next year to do it all again

We had room number 7, it was very spacious, bright and a view to Die for, excellent room, staff were very helpful.

Each visit, it is the Staff that make this place and the reason for rebooking time after time, they go above and beyond. Even at busy times they try their hardest to make everyone's visit a welcome one. Three to mention Dawn, Stewart and Colin go a step beyond what is asked of them you are all brilliant 👏 😀 👍

We were quite impressed with our location and stay. It's on the beach and in the heart of the community. It was perfect.

After years of loyalty and frequenting The Penwig, this will be the last time. Waited an age to be served and when it did arrive, shocking for the price. You could always rely on a decent bit of food in The Penwig but that has changed drastically. Ordered the Hunters Chicken, an old piece of bacon, burnt cheese and a piece of chicken the size of a baby's foot. Throw in the fact the chips weren't cooked properly and there you have a shocking meal. To then be asked from the barman shouting across "everything ok" not really appropriate to shout back "absolutely not" in front of other customers. The staff seemed to be more interested in providing greater to service to their colleague on the table next to us. When we are back in New Quay, it will be a chippy and a 4 pack on the beach.

Nice meal at a good price especially the daily deals Monday to Thursday.

Cant fault the service provided, Room was excellent value with a great view, additionally a good meal and service.

Very expensive pepsi max for the size of the glasses. The lunch menu fish and chips was very small. The menu said smaller portion but this was smaller than a child's size meal, not many chips either.

Good value a large cooked breakfast with a hot drink for £9.45! Really good coffee as well!

Good but not exceptional. The food and service were both good, but nothing special. Typical pub grub. Prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was pleasant and there is a lovely view of the sea and harbour. I would definitely visit again when in New Quay

we received a very friendly welcome from Colin. Our room was very good and very good value for money. Dinner and breakfast were good and the team looked after us very well.

This is a charming hotel right on the waterfront. My room above the pub had spectacular views. The room was well-appointed and the shower was great. We had both dinner and breakfast in the pub and both were excellent. Vegan options are available. And the staff was most accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend.

Fish was excellent. Was disappointed that the daily special offers were not advertised on the table. When I asked about this the member of staff said that the cards were on the windowsill . If i didn’t know that I could get a discount on my pie I don’t think it would of been offered..

Service was great but food was poor and basic, no burger sauce, very little filling, burger roll was just a plain bread roll not burger roll, very basic .

Excellent service provided by Stuart and Mandy, but the pub was packed and there was not enough staff on to cope. Stuart and Mandy worked so hard to try to accommodate everything that was thrown at them. I feel that more staff should have been on because you could see how stressed the staff were even though they were managing to cope, just about. We are regulars in this pub and would suggest with the current promotion that is in place and the added foot volume more staff are in place.

Food was lovely. Compliments to the chefs. Lovely service. Very friendly. Clean and will definitely be returning. I liked how you can see into the kitchen and see how clean it is and the chrfs are polite, clean and friendly. Bar staff are lovely.

Place seemed really nice and had a warm and welcoming service. Only ended up having drinks as the extractor fan was broken so was unable to make food which was disappointing as we were all hungry but understandable that these things happen.

Had a lovely meal at Hotel Penwig on Saturday the 3rd of February. Lee and Laura provided excellent customer care.

We thought we’d have some lunch in here so we did Ordered 2 fish n chips and the kids had 2 cheese burgers n fries Every seemed lovely until my wife found a hair running through the fish batter So not to cause a problem my wife went and talked to the male member of staff in a quiet part of the pub and explained about the hair found He replied all our staff ware hair nets which he em plied this is a blond hair and thus took the plate He said he would get my wife another which she refused as the hair had put her off She came back to the table where we all saw the male staff holding up the hair showing all the staff He then came to our table with a refund which is not what it was about for us as attitude was that it was my wife’s hair It clearly wasn’t as the hair was embedded in the batter My meal and the kids was nice but will NOT be returning after this The other members of staff were very nice and apologetic

First lasagne was burnt, sent it back next one was Luke warm. Won't be going back. Can't even get a ping meal right.

The bar area and room were very clean and fresh, and the bar staff were efficient and effective in their duties and all the staff were very friendly.The food was traditional "pub grub" and when served was hot and well cooked.The location of the Penwig is superb overlooking New Quay beach and Cardigan bay, the Penwig provides exvellent value for money

Have used the bar/restaurant many time over the years but never stayed in the hotel. Fabulous room with sea views, all the facilities you need. Have meal.in evening and had a 30% voucher to use off main menu, had a stunning cod and chips, the batter was amazing. Booked breakfast too, really enjoyed. All staff were nice and friendly. Would definitely stay again.

We arrived at Penwig in terrible weather on 21st January. Was warmly welcomed by Colin,who checked us in. Lovely room with big lounge looking out over the harbour.Large screen tv's in lounge and bedroom. Went down to restaurant and was well looked after by Colin and Laura. Had a lovely meal and drink. Had an excellent night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. Went down for a nice breakfast in the morning,and was well looked after again,this time by Mandy and Gemma. A very enjoyable stay.

*Hotel "Small Portion" Penwig* My visit left me disheartened, primarily due to the lackluster chicken and bacon club sandwich. The chicken's rubbery consistency and the tasteless bacon felt deliberately vindictive. Look at it, it's the same type of bacon is the same as you get in a Tesco meal deal. I don't understand how you could make a £9 sandwich so badly. I think it's a Marston's chain, and I suspect they are serving subpar, cutcorner, cheap ingredient meals across all their sites. I don't intend to find out.

I don't usually leave a review but it was nice, from the outside I was expecting it to be clicky but it was a nice pub with great pub grub, Lovely views over the bay, I will return

We were over the moon with the service at the Hotel Penwig New Quay, from the time that we booked our table to the hospitality of the staff when we arrived, nothing was to much trouble, excellent service.

Went in for the first time in 30 years. Loved it. Have eaten there twice over this Christmas period (2023) good quality food, fantastic price

Friendly staff who were more than happy to help with all our needs. Even though it was extremely busy the food served was good quality and tasty.

We booked in this morning to have breakfast with santa it was a great experience. Great value for money kids had a great time with amazing presents. Service from Lynn, Stuart and santa was outstanding, very welcoming and friendly. Thank you to all the team x

Nice place food good and prices .

Great affordable food, excellent staff very friendly and helpful. I love this pub all year round not just the summer when you get the amazing views but it’s lovely and cosy in the winter especially with the Christmas tree and lights.

We found ordering a bit difficult down to wifi dropping on mobile phone but we got there in the end .Food was lovely as were all of the staff .We will definitely be going again and sadly it is one of those places we have passed but never been into but will use more in the future .Thank you to all .

We stayed the night and had a meal, and had a wonderful welcome from Colin - what a lovely guy! The food was freshly cooked and very tasty, and the room was ideal - a family room across two floors, with doors in between - ideal for travelling with older children. The location is excellent, and I would highly recommend staying. The image is from the doorstep of the accomodation (at the back of the pub).

I really recommend the Penwig. Although I didn’t stay there, I had an amazing lunch with my family and when I mean amazing, I mean amazing. Atmosphere was not to busy inside, food was amazing (recommend any burger) and the service was faster than expected as it was quite busy outside. Overall, 10/10 and definitely would come back here again soon.

We always love going to the Penwig. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are always polite and friendly and the food is delicious. The rations are perfect, and the food is always layed out on the plate perfect. We always highly recommend going to all our friends and take them there on regular basis. Out of all the restaurants in New quay I would say the Penwig is the best for an all round experience.

Went for a meal as the food has always been very good, but disappointed this time. Not worth the money at all. Service and staff all very good. Came back Thursday and they had run out of vegetarian and vegan choices so not good at all.

Had a very good breakfast, with great service from Gemma. Food was all tasty and well cooked. Enjoyed very much.

I stayed at the Hotel Penwig for one night. Having lived in Wales I have visited before. It was a lovely stay, the family room was superb! The food was lovely, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

It was a late booking as a spur of the moment thing. The hotel penwig was easily able to accommodate us, the menu and the food was fantastic, and altogether a very friendly and welcoming visit. Will definitely come again
