An absolutely fantastic meal, great atmosphere, staff were wonderful, just a great place to be for great food.

Fantastic food in a gorgeous venue on the centre of Ayr, reasonably priced with good service.

We visited the restaurant here but it's called something else, amazing food, great atmosphere,and lovely staff

Don't believe their quite hours of 8pm. The downstairs is not owned by the hotel and they book the hall for events / parties. So, expect to hear loud bass till midnight. Wouldn't recommend anyone to stay at the hotel.

Located 2 minutes walk from the centre of Ayr. Newly refurbished, very modern and spacious room. Unmanned reception. Restaurant and bar offers great food and drinks options.

First time in since it has been renovated. Friendly staff, food excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be going back.

THIS IS NOT A HOTEL!!!!! It is just one floor in a building with a number of bedrooms. No reception, no restaurant, no bar. Photos on their site are of a separate business in the same building. Rooms are not serviced each day and towels, toilet rolls etc are only replaced when requested. Room was in poor shape.

Hotel without service staff. There is cleaning here, but there is no one at the reception. Communication only takes place via SMS, but it is seamless and you have all the information you need. Access with code. Breakfast separately in the restaurant. I can't say anything about that because I haven't used it. Room was OK, bathroom clean and bed comfortable. Parking behind the house and the location is quite good.

Visited recently and had a lovely meal with friends, plenty of staff on. A few times staff needed prompted to get more drink, however they were very friendly and the food was lovely. I would happily visit again!

Poor service ,no cleaning for the 5 days I stayed, no Internet no breakfast. unacceptable for the price they ask.

Tried to stay here but was charged twice for 2 bookings. I canceled first one because I need an extra day, so was charged for the second one booking when rebooked. The issue is, I booked over 30 days in advance and was charged for the full rooms even before stepping foot into the UK. It was stated clearly that the charges weren't supposed to happen until arriving. "Pay at hotel" That's not how I do my business travel and will pay at arrival. The first refund took almost 30 days to get back.

Went for dinner. We both enjoyed it. I had the seafood mornay and my sister had the vegetable tempura. Had a drink outside after the meal sitting in the sunshine. Very busy and popular.

Sunday roast carvery was a massive disappointment. Dried out food and had been heated too long . The mash was a weird grey colour and it was just a big disappointment. Waiting staff were pretty untrained and loud.

Had a fabulous dinner and breakfast food to die for delicious and definitely would recommend to all staff were amazing and room was very comfortable

While we were on holiday we were looking for somewhere to go for Sunday dinner & we are so glad we chose to go to kylestorme hotel the meal was lovely & the decor was beautiful & service from the staff was fantastic.

Do a special early bird meal before 18.30pm and the food is delicious. Try the poached pear with prawns as a starter followed by a very large portion of tasty steak pie. Staff attentive and check to see everything is fine with your meal.

We have avoided the Kylestrome for many years after a bad experience, but thought we would give it a try again. I looked online at the menu, which looked nice and varied, so we booked. On arrival, there were 3 yound, school/college aged girls at the door. There was no friendly or warm welcome and we were shown to our table. The place had clearly been redecorated and whilst most of it was nice, there were very odd "statement words" frames around the area and there was no warmth or charm at all. One of the girls who served the table was far from decently dressed to be working front of house and had an absolute micro skirt on, which literally stopped at the very bottom of her bum cheeks. Whilst I am in no way old fashioned, I would most certainly question a managers decision, who would see this as professional or appropriate work atire. We ordered haddock with a Swiss cheese and king prawn tempura for starters. Both were fresh and warm. My main was chicken with mushroom and Swiss wine glaze, whilst my husband went for the rack of lamb. The lamb was very small and when starting to eat it, my husband pointed out that at least 75% of it was just fat. When the waitress came to collect our plates, my husband pointed this out. There was no apology and statement that this would be discussed with the chef. Throughout the meal, service was poor. We had to remind the waitress that we were waiting for a glass of wine and at no point, did anyone ask us if we wanted any more drinks. When the bill came, the lamb was charged in full and I advised that this was extremely disappointing. Whilst we most certainly don't expect to get something for nothing, the quality of the product didn't meat the required standard at all. All in all, a very disappointing experience indeed!! It's such a shame as this place could be and most certainly used to be, so good. We won't be going back again.

Unfortunately the Kylestrome had booked a bus party for the same time as our party of nine. Well over an hour's wait for food well below their normal standard and no apology or attempt to explain the delay. I wish them luck with the bus party trade but after many years of patronage I won't be back.

I have used Kylestrome many times and never been let down. In this occasion it was for a Group from Hansel. Afternoon Tea and Entertainment. Everyone had a great time, food was good and staff were very helpful. Thanks again Andrew and Diane.

Had an overnight stay here recently. Staff very friendly, room spotless and very clean. Food was amazing, everything cooked extremely well and portions were great. Would definitely recommend.

You could tell we all enjoyed the food as the plates were cleared. Everything (including the veg) was cooked to my liking and the portions were of good size. Felt well looked after by the staff, without them being over attentive. At the end we were the only customers there, and didn't feel they wanted rid of us like you do in some places. Also felt very Covid safe. Mask wearing by staff, occupied tables as fat apart from each other as possible and hand gels at plenty different places

Had dinner here recently. Menu had a good selection of dishes and the food we ordered was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Service a little slow but there were 6 of us at the table so happy to chat amongst ourselves. Would rather have delicious food and wait a little than have poor food come quickly. Will definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

The food here is above average - but the service lets everything down. Youngsters taking no interest whatsoever in whether the customer is satisfied or not. Poor supervision. A pity! Decent management is required.

Opted for the set dinner menu. £20 for 3 courses. Loads to choose from. Can highly recommend the mac n cheese. My sister chose the salmon and said it was delicious. Both had sticky toffee pudding & vanilla ice cream. Could not fault anything at all about our visit. Can’t wait to go back and try more food from this great menu.

Thank you so much to all the staff in the Kylestrome Hotel in Ayr. We had an absolutely fantastic overnight stay in the Hotel. The fact that it was the night before the lockdown occurred and there was so much uncertainty and worry, the staff still gave 100% service to us and the food was absolutely delicious. The hotel only had 2 couples staying and the chefs even came out of the kitchen to speak to us. The mood was cheery and friendly despite what was going on. We can’t fault this place and highly recommend it. Please thank all the staff who were working on the night before and the morning of closure when the lockdown started. We will be back most definitely.

Excellent food and staff very friendly on the Saturday night we attended. On arrival we were a bit worried as the table wasn’t ready so we were sent to the bar. Having stood at the bar for about 30 mins with the bar man clearly stressed but not even an acknowledgement we were there strange as we were the only people in the bar. But that said the service in the restaurant was very good and food very good. Fish lamb excellent would definitely go again when in the area

As you would expect on a Friday night that is also valentines day it was busy, but there was plenty of staff on to accommodate. Food was incredible, prawns, langoustines and steak all very good. great sized portions. Wine selection was not very large but sufficient and reasonably priced.

the food that day for our lunch was superb, beautifully presented and served so nicely , going there in June this year.

We had a party of four all having Christmas lunch, it was a good job we booked Aditya was very busy.In saying that we were well looked after with the courses coming out at nice intervals and no need to rushThe dinner was extremely nice and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Super staff and a very well run clean hotel. My room was spacious and had a coffee machine plus Scottish shortbread in the room. Bed was very good as well. Breakfast delicious. The only minus was the internet was not very good and a bit erratic. Apart from that a good stay was had.

Food was of very good qualiy and well presented.however the general concenses from our company was that in the area this was a wee bit expensive for what we had. Everything else was fine.

I am so happy we decided on staying here instead of going to Glasgow. Me and my now Fiancee which I proposed to the day of arrival. We are from Ayr but due to not wanting to spend 100s of pounds in Glasgow etc I decided for our anniversary to book the Kylestrome suit at the hotel for one night and at 140 pounds we couldn't of been happier. The room was unbelievable bed huge 2 TVs lounge area comfortable. One disappointment was there was no hot water to try the Jacuzzi bath as we called down to the front desk the night porter was great and tried his best to get it back on but couldn't. On the plus side they had an engineer out first thing in the morning and was able to try the brilliant jacuzzi tub in the morning. Finally I have to mention the food we had lunch and dinner both well priced the dinner meal I have to mention was out of this world not only was it that good although they had a function on at the time my fiancee wanted breaded Brie that wasn't on the menu this was no problem and the scallops dish had to of been the best scallops dish I have had in years. Although not perfect rest assure we will be visiting again it is ashame you do not do weddings the staff are a credit to the Hotel Chefs are epic and can tell the passion is there Thank you for having us. As a family of three adults we ate here recently- more by chance than anything else. What good fortune it turned out to be - we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The menu has a good, varied selection to suit all tastes. Options are available for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. We all chose different meals from the menu and were all delighted with our meals. The service was very friendly and efficient with the restaurant having a pleasant atmosphere. Good value for money.

Had a nice steak dinner few weeks back, excellent food. However service a bit on the slow side. Wouldn’t put me off going back though.

Decided to try the menu here and it was great. I had the chilli starter and the braised beef with peppercorn sauce it cut like butter. Friendly staff would definitely recommend this to anyone

Went on a saturday night recently.

Stayed in the hotel for two nights with my Husband and we decided to book the restaurant as the reviews were excellent! We were not let down, as the food was fantastic!! For starters I had the smoked haddock and my Husband had the black pudding and scallops. For the main course I had the chicken dish and my Husband had steak. We could not fault any part of our meals. Will definitely be back!

Definitely some staff training required here! Called in for lunch and the food was good. Both had the lentil soup which had great flavour but was a tiny portion and barely covered the bottom of the plate. For mains had the sole which was slightly dry and the sea bass which was by far the favourite. Service was really poor, waited ages for the soup to arrive and eventually had to chase this up, also had to go looking for a waitress to pay the bill.

Visited as a family of 4 for a Christmas dinner, we had high expectations following previous visits and were very much looking forward to our meal. Total disaster, and a disgrace at £75 a head. Tables were sparse with not even a cracker or water, but not as sparse as the waiting staff as there appeared to be 4 for 2 large dining areas. Starters were average (soup was actually inedible), main meals were minimal and did not even include all items which we had to ask (and wait) for. The waiting time for food was long, with many tables complaining about the wait and substandard meals being produced. We left hungry and actually made snacks when we got home. Tried to complain on the day but no one was available and there didn’t appear to be anyone runnning the show so to speak.

Had a fantastic stay and evening meal at this Hotel. The rooms were large and luxurious.The beds large and very comfortable.Rooms have all amenities needed for the stay. We had a evening meal in the grill where the food was excellent and the staff very friendly, great value for money.

My husband and I visited this restaurant with two of our friends. It was tastefully decorated and had a very nice atmosphere. The waiting staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was lovely and very well presented. We will definitely return.

Popped in for lunch when down in Ayr for a business meeting. Our order was simple, wraps and soup. There are different sizes of each and when we eventually got our orders (too long a wait for lunchtime service) they were completely wrong. Gave back and came back with wrong orders again. Food was nice enough, nothing particularly special. When we asked for the bill we notice that it was wrong too. So that was changed. Staff were friendly and apologetic. Maybe new staff being trained? Unsure but we were late leaving due to the slow service and all the mix ups.

We booked a table of 4 at 6 o’clock. On arrival we were welcomed by our friendly hostess. We were taken to our table but we asked to move for comfort purposes, this request was no bother.

Attended for a retirement function and almost fainted with hunger waiting for meal. As there were 50 of us we had booked in advance and had a menu with limited choices. Meal was booked 19:00 for 19:30. Order taken at 19:40, first course served at 20:20. Food might have been OK but by this time I was so hungry I did not enjoy it. Main course arrived at 21:10 and some of our company had to shovel it down in a rush and leave as had to get home for 21:45. I had the chicken with brandy and pepper sauce - the sauce was thick and congealed as if it had been sitting a while. Apparently the kitchen prioritised other customers over our large group, so I certainly wouldn't advise booking a wedding or any other event there. I really cannot comment on the quality of the food or the value for money as I was starving by the time we got it and barely tasted it as eating so quickly to avoid fainting with hunger. We had planned a presentation and speeches at end of meal but had to do at start to fill in the time and to do a wee impromptu filler in between thw courses too. Rather spoiled what should have been a good night out. If the kitchen cannot cope with that many covers, cooking food that could all be prepared in advance, then they should not accept the booking. Will never be back and would not recommend.

After reading lots of positive reviews I was looking forward to dinner at The Kylestrome but my wife & I were left entirely disappointed.

We enjoyed the food here. Freshly cooked good quality produce. Perhaps that is why it is a little slow to be served. Upon arrival we were shown to our table for six and were given three menus. Drinks service was shabby. A bottle of red wine was planked down on the table with the lid still on it. Oh well then I take it you open it and serve yourself then. My partner's beer bottle was also planked down with no offer of a glass. Staff seemed generally disinterested. We had to go and ask to pay the bill. The place looked as if it could do with a freshen up. It was not unclean but looks tired. Our tables had scratches on them and parts of the carpet were stained. Overall it was a shame because the food was so good. A bit rough around the edges sadly.

I stayed at the hotel overnight and enjoyed a good dinner at the restaurant. The menu has a good amount of choice and staff were prepared to offer guidance if required. Not too big a dining room which would probably lend itself to small groups on a celebration outing

Hello folks, This will be a quick review of the Kylestrom, My wife and I visited the restaurant on the 6th of March this year as we needed sustenance during a 3 hour window from attending the local hospital, on entering the restaurant around midday there was only one member of staff in sight, well he attended to us when he finished with his current customers, we were quickly shown to a suitable table, perused our menus, only waited for a short time until our order was taken, drinks ordered and delivered, soon after our meals arrived and sufficient to say that the food was par excellence, seriously good, my wife had the feather of beef while I had the steak pie (easily pleased we are ! ) anyway to finish this review, in absolutely no way could we fault the food (or service) immaculately clean toilets etc' and I assure you that we have no affinities with this restaurant whatsoever, just try it !

Large family gathering are often a hit and miss, with so many people to cater for. We arrived and were greeted by the friendly staff and seated straight away.

Nine of us visited last Sunday, the meal was perfect, service excellent, every one of us were delighted with every course. Must recommend the tempura as a main course, the melon starter and sticky toffee pudding.. This really is a hidden gem

Funeral reception was held here for a close relative, and the food did him justice! The restaurant catered for several more people than anticipated. The booking and arrival was managed respectfully as was the additional unexpected capacity. The Reception consisted of unlimited tea and coffee, and afternoon tea of cakes, sandwiches and sausage rolls. All were really nice, novel too under the circumstances.

We arrived on Saturday for lunch without booking it was really busy but managed to get a table within 5 minutes staff in here are really helpful and go out their way to make you feel welcome the food was as always very nice and good sized portions. Thanks to all

Visited the Kylestrome on Tuesday evening for a special birthday dinner .

I have visited this restaurant a few time, went last week with a friend, we can not say it was the best meal we have had in this restaurant, the garlic mushrooms & bacon starter was rather bland, the fillet of pork was cooked well, tho the black pudding croquet was over cooked as it was deep fried & it was very dry, maybe it was a bad night for the kitchen as it was not very busy, service was ok, staff were ok too. Such a shame, as I have had nicer experiences before

Am Sonntag ist hier fast der alleinige Restaurant wo man nach 20:00 was zum Essen bekommen kann. Aber aufpasse, nicht alles was auf der Draft Beer List ist Bier. Versteckt ist auch Cider.

A big thank you to Diane and her staff on our special day. From start to finish all staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble, buffet was brilliant, nothing was left uneaten. I would highly recommend the kylestrome to anyone that is thinking of a holding a party.

My cousin treated us to a late Anniversary dinner last night. Great choice on the menu. Food was outstanding as it has been in the past. Service excellent and we had a lovely evening catching up with our cousin.

My prawn cocktail had been sprinkled with some very very hot spice, took me quite a few minutes to catch my.breath. mistake perhaps (don't think so), maybe something I said. 5 RUMP STEAKS #/ 4 WERE FINE mine was a make a fool of, some very small thin bits of steak over the tomato, sent it back, came back as it went.perhaps the cook thought it was funny / I DIDN'T, won't be back.

Great welcome with friendly and attentive staff without being over attentive. Tables nicely spaced. Menu choice good and everything we ordered was clearly freshly prepared and was of a very high standard, arriving at the table freshly plated and hot.Staff allowed us to take our time and have an excellent relaxed evening.The steak was slightly overdone - not quite rare enough, and without question a replacement was served very promptly, plated with freshly done accompaniments - nothing recycled. We also received a discount due to this mistake. A very professional and courteous response.

If you are in Ayr looking for great meal at affordable prices look no further. We stopped by for lunch and everyone had a great meal. Fish, liver, steak - all were perfectly cooked and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

My son treated me on mother's day to lunch and it was lovely.It was a set menu 2or3 courses we only managed 2 good portion sizes and menu had a good variety price was excellent under £20 for 3 courses.They have there own car park at back so no problems parking.I did feel the service a little on the slow side and the restaurant at the time we were there wasn't very busy but when it came to paying the bill it was the quickest

Visited here on a Tuesday with family. Have been before but this is my first review. I love the food here & so much choice on the menu. We all had 3 courses and were more than happy. The staff were lovely too. The reason i have given 4 stars and not 5 is i ordered something I get in The Tudor restaurant & find it better in there. Will definitely be back as we all as a family like it here.

The popular Hotel Kylestrome bar and restaurant is a favourite Ayr place to go for a good atmosphere and really good food.

A large group of us (14) booked a meal here and we were very well taken care of. The staff were very accommodating whilst we waited for a small number of the group to arrive and offered us drinks. The steak was cooked to perfection but the chips were slightly overdone. They then produced a birthday cake which one of the group had supplied. I had a pavlova for pudding which was nice also. Thank you to the lovely staff.
