Not the best chinese by a long way. 40 min wait. Some of food not best quality. Lemon chicken not nice at all. Spent 48.

Very shabby service, phoned order at ten past five told it would be fifty minutes, received meal at five past seven 😡

I don't understand the negative reviews foe this place, I voted the area and found it by chance. Its a traditional English Chinese, nor frills just good food. Everything we ordered was good quality produce and piping hot. For the price, good value and quality food. I will return when I'm back in town.

Ordered four meals had to wait an hour, but they were definitely worth it, had the curries and chow mein, would definitely recommend Hot Wok Trading...Lovely food and pleasant man taking orders (even though he was run off his feet) will definitely be back ...Great Food . Thank you Hot Wok

Chinese I've been going to for years but this year I've been going quite a lot and the food and service is great every time. Ignore negative reviews, the food is spot on. I recommend satay chicken, salt pepper chips, beef chow mein (Dry) and curry sauce. Just wished they'd stay open later.👍

Ight so here it is boss woman took my order very friendly was expecting a Chinese woman but hey o waited about 20 minutes for food to be ready overall food was allright I guess but one question yeah why is boss man putting macadamia nuts in my sea weed is he like a different type of Asian or something but it was still good and obviously I scanned it all le bosch I very much recommend every one that lives or goes to Newquay tries this Chinese and once again boschhhhh

Wasn't very impressed. Ordered Chicken Curry with No Veg......What did I get???? Mixed Vegetable Curry. The Crispy Aromatic duck, was just crispy skin and very little duck. We are on holiday in Kernow, when we come here again will not be using takeaway again.

Pre ordered, told 6.30 when arrived it wasn’t even ready, told it would be another 30 mins, they already had over an hour, person on the desk needs to go on a customer service course, I was also very disappointed in the food, beef was very tough, most of the food was dry, unlike other Chineses.

Decent Chinese takeaway, we haven't used the place for a few years as we haven't been to Cornwall for a while, some reviews were not great which is totally unfair, our food was lovely and piping hot, also reasonably priced, we made a phone order which took about 15 minutes longer than expected but the lady couldn't apologize enough, no problems for us as better to wait knowing it's being cooked fresh.

The worst Chinese I have ever tasted. Rice was burnt. Chowmien bland, salt and pepper chicken don't waste your time. Couldn't even eat it. Save your money.

Das Essen war gut, aber leider mussten wir über 1 Stunde warten. Ein ganz großes Lob an den tollen jungen Mann bei der Bestellannahme. Er war so witzig, nett und freundlich!

Good food and reasonable prices. The staff aren't very friendly. Everything seemed like a big effort to them which was annoying.

Would not recommend tried for first time. Hot and sour soup tasteless. Honey spare ribs dry with no sauce simply poured honey over before serving and not a proper cooking sauce. Salt and pepper chips look like frozen chips no taste of salt or pepper at all bland and the few chilli’s on them no heat whatsoever on them and actually thought they were green peppers. Save your money and avoid!

Friendly food above average use once a week

Thought I would give this place a try due to moving nearby. Reviews are not that great but as a takeaway owner myself I can say our food was very nice, tasty and hot. They could not guarantee gluten free but.my meal was perfect and no side effects. Thanks Will be back Malcolm

Worst food ever and that's saying something for me to complain stay away disgusting

I came here last week (holiday) and fancied a takeaway. This is the worst I have had. Food is appalling and tasteless. Everything I ordered from spare ribs which were tough and chewy to the Kung po chicken and egg fried rice had no seasoning at all. Don’t waste your money.

We ordered from here twice during our week in Cornwall. Amazing value for money, the lady was really friendly and the food delicious. The salt and pepper chicken balls are incredible! I wish this was our local chinese.

We have used this place while on holiday every year for 10 years but never again!!!! Extremely RUDE woman took our telephone order and gave me a total of £27.40 however when we get there its nearer £40 so she humiliated my son by being sarcastic and telling him we can't have all of our food if we can't afford to pay for it (I sent them with £30 in light of the price given over the phone) so so rude to a disabled 15yr old boy and to top it all off the food was as bad as that vile woman's attitude!!!!

I quite like this Chinese takeaway their chicken is always tasty and succulent , i tend to keep with our usual chicken chowmein ,sweet and sour chicken balls which i also like as the batter is not over cooked and too crunchy like some others around Newquay.

Awful, burnt recooked food, they could not find our address then apologised and said they would resend new food, it appeared that they double cooked the first order as burnt and dry ribs inedible, dried up chips inedible, spring rolls inedible just dry pastry, the rest burnt dried out reheated old food and despite the amount of money absolute disgraceful service, we will never ever use this place again, if you are thinking about spending your well earned cash here, please don't I beg you

Terrible! Slimy and inedible, the food was awful. Complete waste of money especially as we spent a lot to feed 8 people. We didn’t eat any of it apart from the chips, curry sauce & prawn crackers.

Would definitely not recommend this place. As previous reviews have said the Chicken Chow mein is not even edible - boiled chicken and gloopy. Dog ate most of our takeaway...how disappointing!

We had spent the day at the beach we were all hungry, so arrived at the Hot Wok around 7pm. I wish I'd checked the reviews as it was terrible. Ordered chicken chow mein, pork chow mein and special fried rice... The other half had the special fried rice and ate it but there was nothing special about it... No sliced meat on top like is served in every other Chinese takeaway we've been too, just fried rice with small chopped chicken and pork with a few mediocre prawns. The chow mein was the worst we've every seen or eaten. Their was a small amount of chicken and it was slimmy looking and bland, too many onions, bean sprouts, water chestnuts, a carrot slice or two and 2 slices of mushrooms then about 5 tablespoons of noodles that were tasteless. The pork chow mein was exactly the same but had a few more slices of pork but it was fat and grisly and just as bland. We had two spoon fulls and the chow meins went in the bin and had toast instead. The food came with free prawn crackers which were nice. I wouldn't recommend the hot wok unless you like bland and unappealing food and like to throw your money away. If your on holiday wait till you get home then have a take away from your favourite Chinese takeaway and if you live in Newquay I feel sorry that this is all you have, you'd be better off learning to cook your own fake away than eat the terrible food they serve at the Hot Wok.

Really nice Chinese - LOVED the salt and pepper chicken which we got free too as ordered over £30. Ordered the samr from my local since, but wasnt as good as from here! And no it didnt taste better because it was free :)

Waited over an hour for food, couldn't get through to anyone on the phone line as it was constantly engaged- maybe install another phone line if your current system can't cope? Chicken satay skewers were so dry we couldn't bite into them- they went in the bin. My bf always orders Chow Mein when we get a Chinese and he didn't think their recipe was typical of a regular take away Chow Mien; that also went in the bin. Chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce was ok. We would have complained but knew we wouldn't get through on the phone!

Had to wait for ages the food was nasty asked for chow main got somethink else couldn't explains what it was and I won't be back rarther beans on toast

I stayed half hour at Costa then 2 hours in Curry's on 19th march. Spent £2,300 over the week. 23rd I received a £60 fine for overstay. I was spending good money. Ah well people park go to hospital was the reason. Wrong system then shoppers should be warned in the shop. Should not have been fined. So you can only go to buy in one shop and get out. Am I peaved. Obviously.

Overall not good. The meals were so bland, had to add prawn crackers to them just to add some taste. Mini pancake roles were ok.

Best chinese takeaway I’ve had in Newquay for years, the crab and sweet corn soup was awesome great fresh prawn crackers, first class spring rolls , everything else was of a very high standard, fresh and cooked perfectly. Will be definitely making the hot wok my go to takeaway in Newquay, As I was waiting for my food , my daughter came in to collect her meal , she rates it highly too .

Picked up a take away last night.... got home and they had managed to confuse ‘Thai style veg’ with ‘ sweet and sour king prawns’!! Also no prawn crackers ..(usually get a complimentary bag) Apart from the order being wrong was not that great, extremely salty black bean sauce, only ate half. Overall not great service or food 😩

Quick delivery to reception of the newquey holiday park . Very reasonable prices . But food was so bland ? Never in OUR lives of loving Chinese food ? Have i ever had to and salt and pepper just to eat the meal ? As we jusr arrive on site and didnt fancy cooking . Mrs just bined 70% of the meal. Lovely food, however, the two ladies serving could do with learning some training in the customer service department. Very rude, and dropped the prawn crackers on the floor. Please management, have a word with your servers. Great food and bad service is a terrible mix.

Worst thing ive ever tasted. The chow mein was horrible and sloppy,the sweet and sour sauce was like jelly,the rice was under cooked and the chicken balls were over cooked and rubbery. I love chinese food but this was a real let down. I will not be returning.

Terrible service. I was told when placing the order over the phone the wait was 40 minutes which I felt was acceptable. When I arrived on time I was completely ignored and another customer arriving after me got served before me even though I stood right in front at the desk. Eventually I was acknowledged and waited a further 25 minutes before being called up when my order was ready only to discover that they had missed an item off so I was instructed to sit back down and therefore had to wait even further. Eventually once my order was complete I paid for my food thinking it was a little more than I had expected, so on arrival home I double checked the price on their website in comparison to my receipt and they had over charged me!!! Never to return again. I'll stick with The Orient.

Ordered for delivery which took an hour and 50 mins instead of the 50 minutes we were told. Delivery driver didnt have a clue where we were despite being 10minutes up the road so that took over half hour after trying to explain where we were. Food was ok and refunded us £5 for the trouble. Maybe just our bad 1st experience

Oh my god, cant believe! Curry sauce in a small bru cup. What you joking? I had ordered for a large group of people.. in fact 17 people. The biggest mistake I had ever done. Our meal was absolutely dry..... ribs were descent though.

I used to use Hot Wok, Newquay a few years ago and it was always good. However after moving back towards Henver Road I recently and placed a substantial order costing £30.50, paid by card over the phone and asked for a delivery. There was a mix up with the delivery address and when I rang up to query it after about an hour, the lady was extremely rude to me, blaming me for the mistake. Eventually the food arrived; (incidentally it was not the correct order, was dried up and most of it went in the bin). They then had the cheek to charge me £2.50 delivery charge - I live less than 5 minutes away and assumed that with the cost of the meal, delivery would be included. On a positive note, the delivery driver was very nice and totally apologetic on behalf of her employers and I felt sorry that she has to work for such rude people. I will not be using Hot Wok again and will not recommend to anyone else.

Best Chinese take away in Newquay. Locals get a dish for just £1 when spending over £14. The food is consistently delicious and never had any problems with the service. As for parking, there is parking but when the restaurant gets busy parking can get tight. Overall, a good place for your Chinese takeaway.

Really nice food couldn't fault a single dish I've had

No parking space. The place is nasty when you go in, everything is sticky including the floor and any surface. The day we went it took ages for our order to come and this seemed like a regular day. The chicken satay I had was ok but nothing to go back for but when I stuck my fork in the noodles to get some out, it stayed in a perfect square on my fork. All dried out. I'm not going back there.
