Food/service/ambience all nothing special, but INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE!

Absolutely amazing! Had tasting menu, 10 courses of masterfully prepared Japanese food! Ingredients taste fresh and high quality and service was world-class. Best Japanese I have ever been to. (better than nobu).

Highly recommend this restaurant. The service is fantastic, and the food is incredible. The green tea was the best I’ve ever had. The grilled black cod is 10/10. The miso soup is also very flavourful. My mother dropped a chopstick and a fresh pair was brought over before she could even ask for another because our server heard it fall! What a great place! Also my green tea was topped up 3 times without me asking once. Very attentive service! Thank you for everything!

Best place for japanese cuisine

I wouldn’t go back there! If you know the taste of sushi, you know it is below average! Also the texture of udon was disappointing ! You can buy better one from any super market. However roll was good. The price was just rip off compare to the quality of food.

I came here for lunch, I ordered Toro (fatty tuna) and a fish stew with rice. The price is decent but given the taste and quality of the food, it’s not worth it. I ordered clear soup fish stew with rice, the soup was so blend I had to add soy sauce on my own and the fish was obviously frozen with no taste. Instead of getting fatty tuna sashimi, I had normal tuna which is a good portion (thick slices) but observed some part of the sashimi is dark colored- questionable freshness. The server has relatively English hence ordered wrong food despite confirmed the order prior and unable to understand my question which contributed reduce rating. However, the serve is polite and efficient.

I tried the 100-pound course meal, and it seems like a restaurant that competes with quality over quantity.

It’s a hidden gem in the local area. Having our anniversary dinner here was absolutely an excellent choice. They surprised customers with authentic Japanese food, good hygiene and most importantly the service from the sincere and friendly staff. Thumps up to the nice presentation and freshness of the food. Would highly recommend.

The rice in sushi and roll was really hard. The sushi rice supposed to be better quality than fish. The rice was not freshly cooked for the sushi, it seems that they used leftover last night. I wouldn’t comeback again.

Great for a date night, we highly recommend! Such good quality sushi for the price, outside central london is excellent. We were missing living in central london, but it’s perfect to have such high quality food on our doorstep in the suburbs

This small gem tucked away down a side road yielded us some of the best sushi I have had the privilege of sampling. The chefs masterfully prepared our assorted sushi set (pictured) and their artistry was evident within each bite; the sashimi showcased the chefs skills and highlighted the exceptional quality and freshness of the seafood. To further complement, the service was both expedient and friendly. Highly recommend.

We visited during the Easter holiday’s time. Food are fantastic, recalled us the memories of Japan and Korea. The owner gave us the warmest welcome, to make our dinner memorable, and to make us come for two nights! ( She treated my girl really well!) The waiters were rude and not generous. We asked for some tempura sauce and they told us that we don't know Japanese culture. The waiters seem to be very slow and a lot of miscommunication happened. Overall, they were quite rude and slow.

Editing review back to 5 star, after consistently delicious take away. I used to be a fan of Hashi, then the quality of food dropped. I haven’t ordered anything for over a year until recently, to be pleasantly surprised. I’ve now had a great experience 3 times in a row and can say Crunch and Hoshi maki are great again, Nasu Dengaku is the best grilled aubergine I’ve tried, salmon Tataki is delicious too. Everything tastes really fresh. Please keep it up!

Excellent food. Busy so need to book in advance. Have a very active takeaway service so food may take some time to arrive. Staff very helpful.

I used to frequent Hashi back when it was Hashi and owned by the previous owners. The sushi was always delightful and the prices were reasonable. Since the new owners took over, the sushi standard isn’t as good as it used to be, the chirashi portion has dropped and the sashimi slices are much smaller. On top of that the prices went up. Sadly I won’t be coming here anymore as if you’re going to increase prices, at least ensure the standard is the same if not better.

Food was amazing, simply amazing! I'm very particular when it comes to sushi, and Hoshi has become a local favourite. The service is really well done, and the staff know what they are doing. If you are looking for a real authentic restaurant experience and in the Mitcham/Richmond area then as a local I can tell you this is it.

Overpriced for what you get… maybe good enough for a local Japanese fix but I’d rather travel elsewhere to get better food. Seaweed salad was super bland, mixed tempura was slightly oily with very chunky vegetables and the batter seemed not very authentic… on a good side the sashimi (toro and scallop was reasonable) as was the seared toro nigiri.

Phenomenal. Here was one of the most delicious Japanese experiences I've ever had. Got pork katsu bento (incredible), sushi bento (delicious thick cut tasty sashimi which is very fresh), tempura udon set (one of easy choice menu). And also female owner was very kind and friendly. Go now or regret it.

The staff were very friendly and food was tasty too. Sashimi was fresh. I liked fried ones. Prawn tempura, soft shell fried crab was really nice too. Tofu with the nice chewy layer was so enjoyable! Tasty rolls too 🙂

Served Sashimi, Katsu, Udon and Roll with recommended white wine. Each dish had a great plating and I loved the freshness of the Sashimi. Quality was outstanding when compare to other well-known sushi bar. Katsu was thick enough with juicy meat and the fries were clear white proving the fresh oil that they cook with. Great atmosphere and kindness staffs made me enjoy the time 👍👍👍

Oh La La What a throughly beautiful place. In addition to the main restaurant the is a covered alfresco experience plus a booth which we were given because we had a business meeting, which was private & convenient. With an easily accessible bell on the table a lovely knowledgeable waiter is soon at hand. Being a novice at Japanese cuisine we needed some direction he was more than happy to provide a commentary & give some good advice. Food arrived fairly promptly & was beautiful presented, & it didn’t stop there, it tasted just as delicious. My colleague said the food tasted ‘Better Than Nobu In Mayfair’, which I must admit is quite the compliment. Lovely staff, nice interior, delicious food, completely delighted with my experience will visit again … with guests. Keep up the great work guys.

Decided to try this restaurant with my son and was pleasantly surprised. The sashimi is fresh and tender with a beautiful presentation. The katsu is fried to perfection and the portion sizes are reasonable. Staff are also very helpful. Would strongly recommend and will be going again soon.

I grew up in Raynes Park (though I can imagine this restaurant being marketed as West Wimbledon or Cottenham Park!), and left 20 odd years ago - there were certainly nowhere to get sashimi then, and my Favourite-chicken loving self had never heard of sushi. So was pleasantly surprised to find this well-reviewed place in my hometown. Came here 2 weeks ago by myself for dinner - Often I find as a solo eater the service is not so good, but this was not the case here and I felt well looked after. Food was excellent, gyozas cooked perfectly and sashimi was high quality. Presentation was also better than most places serving sushi/sashimi. Look forward to coming back with the family to show them how much RP has changed!

As always the food was the freshest ever and just perfect. Have not been for a while but the food was still perfect with excellent friendly service.

Disappointed, went for lunch after reading the reviews, the rice was hard, the food did not worth the price, my husband said the chicken tasted bad. As a foodie, I can tell by how many people the restaurant. There's only one more people during our lunch time. I will not trust Google reviews any more. Not recommend to my neighbours. I prefer Stick n Sushi.

Fantastic Food. Superb Service. I've been a customer here for a good few years. It is really really good food. I would highly recommend the Crunchy Roll. It is rather pricey, but I would say it is more than worth it!

I had 12 piece Nigiri Sushi. Absolutely satisfied with the quality. They make proper Sushi so you don't have to travel to the Far East in search of Sushi.

Ordered a portion of “stir fried vegetables with special sauce” basically all it was, was a small pot of bean sprouts with a watered down soy sauce - all this for £6.50?? Total rip off.. so unfortunate to charge these prices

I used to eat here a lot a few years ago and recently tried a takeaway and the standard is still great. Probably the best option for sushi and katsu curry in the Raynes Park area. The sushi sets and sashimi are always excellent and fresh. They now deliver on Uber Eats and Deliveroo I think. It is *not* cheap but the price is worth the quality.

Excellent food, the Sushi especially was outstanding, but warm dishes excellent, too. Child-friendly, they ask for adaptations of meals and have child cutlery. And Pokémon runs in the background! What more can you ask for? 🤣

Very tasty. If only there was more. Seriously, ordered takeaway and spent £20 on a meal - so assumed it would have some substance to it. The main didn't come with any rice or noodles, which isn't inherently bad, but £12.50 for four pieces of tofu and a single piece of broccoli is a joke! Barely enough to feed a toddler, to be honest. I only weigh about 55 kg and I'm still starving... I called up because I genuinely thought something had been left out of the order but no, it was confirmed, that is what you get.

Celebrated a birthday at hashi and found both the service and the food to be of a high standard. Definitely recommend the soft shell crab!!

Small and intimate restaurant (maybe only 15 tables) with a nice range of dishes between Japanese and Korean cuisine. Surprisingly pricey menu for a small place on a residential road. The miso glazed cod is a must! A total hidden gem, similar to the standard of miso cod I've had at high end restautants. However, I was not too impressed with the sushi as the rice was undercooked and there was too much of it on the roll! The roll was messy and didn't hold together too well. The eel rice bowl we ordered was also served with undercooked rice.

Excellent food, kind and generous staff who took the time to explain just what shochu was (in a word, delicious!). Food is plentiful and tasty, I can recommend the tempura, the egg fried rice, the prawn katsu and the veggie noodles. Note, this was for my partner and myself, not just me(!). I cannot wait to go back.

Fabulous fantastic gem of a place. Good here is exceptional, with sushi being a speciality but the menu is quite big so everyone will find something. The service is fabulous as well and they really look after you and clean the tables and make sure you’re comfortable. Really strongly recommend.

Been here twice at Sunday lunchtime. Each time the service has been friendly & attentive. Al the dishes have been excellent especially the cut rolls and chicken karage.

Between two we ordered: king prawn tempura, chicken yakitori, grilled pork belly, beef teriyaki, steamed rice and an asahi. The prawn tempura was very greasy and there was a strong taste of oil. It was not the light, fluffy and crispy batter I would expect at this price point (around £12). Similarly, the chicken yakitori had dried out which was disappointing. We were pleased with the pork belly which was actually very tasty; however, the beef lacked any flavour and had zero seasoning. Overall we were fairly disappointed with our meal given we thought most of the dishes were below standard and even more so when considering the cost of £70.

They say the owner is Korean. It was okay because it was Korean and Japanese food.
