Dropped in to hydrate whilst walking our dog. The staff were great, really friendly and chatty. A pint of Butty Bach was out of this world, so we had to stay for a second one. We'll worth a visit.

The staff were fabulous and friendly, couldn’t have done anymore if they tried, the locals also made us feel very welcome. 3 of us had mixed grill.. average at best, we believe the meat was quite old.. although not off .. don’t think it had much life left in it. The scampi was spot on. The pudding was lemon meringue again we think they’d had it sometime.. certainly wasn’t fresh. The pub itself is average, could do with some attention to the toilets

Nice beer, good food and a great price. Dog friendly and the locals are friendly too. Service was very good. Today was our second visit in 2 days. We are staying at Woodville CL in our motorhome and happily walked past other pubs to visit The Horseshoe Inn. Next time we are in the area we will be back.

Excellent meal for nearly 20 people close to Christmas. Wide choice for all 3 courses and everyone enjoyed the food. Good beer too

I’m just going to do bullet points:- > place unwelcoming, sign above bar said something like “8pm is drinking up time not turning up time” >Food was crazy low quality (if Iceland’s budget section had budget section) and minuscule portions. >Burgers lower quality than I remember in school, and were an odd shape which implies the took the original cheap poor quality burgers and portioned it out into two even cheaper poor quality burgers. The salad on burger was old and slimey and the fries we’re Iceland saver, empty and lifeless. £12.95 each. > mix grill had a rump stake (looked like it was chopped off a cheap beef joint then frozen), one saver sausage and a piece of fatty slimey gammon. That was the only meat. The chips we’re Iceland saver steak chips, rubbery and lifeless £18.95 >had a sharing “platter” to start £9, had two burger shop mozzarella sticks, two tiny chicken pieces, four sad looking slices of garlic bread and four Iceland saver onion rings very disappointing. >all that plus two pints of coke (as my other friend had water) somehow came to £61.30, I paid as we ate what we were given because we were hungry, gave £62 said keep the change to the waitress, she took that back to the bar and in plain view of me complained about the stingy tip. You just charged me £60 for Iceland saver, I’m not tipping heavy. I will not be returning ever. And I highly recommend you avoid getting ripped off like we were.

Lovey friendly pub amazing customer service

Just popped in for a drink and was made to feel like a regular, the landladie a great character and the locals Brill. We had a wonderful meal there about two weeks ago and could not fault it, delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. We'll done. One we will definitely be going back to.

We visited whilst in the area for Sunday lunch. Young lady who was serving us was very friendly and attentive. When our lunch arrived it was piping hot. The whole meal was just wonderful and great gravy. 5 stars and excellent value. Would highly recommend.

Two diners, early evening meal with drinks. We both had steak and ale pie. One with chips, one with mashed potatoes. A HPA ale and a glass of white wine. The meals were substantial, hot and tasty. Very very good. The ale was excellent and the white wine good too.

We phoned up last minute on a Sunday to book a Roast Sunday Dinner and got in 10 minutes later, the service was fantastic with two lovely ladies serving us and the roast lamb dinner was absolutely gorgeous, a nice big plate full and just what we needed, the puddings were also delicious, we would definitely go there again and recommend to others. A no frills pub, where the staff and customers are friendly and welcoming in equal measures. Being a lover of good ales, the quality of the Buttybach is also a bonus.

Three adults with dog visited in July 2021. Fast and very friendly service. Excellent steak, mixed grill and vegetarian lasagne and generous portions. Good selection of real ale. All Covid-19 precautions followed.

Great lunch and a good local pub.

We are staying locally in a B&B cottage to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. Decided to visit this evening on a whim as it was one of the nearest restaurants and the menu looked nice online. Three of us had fillet steak, the other had a mixed grill. Couldn't fault anything. Service was excellent, food was amazing. Not had a fillet steak as good as that for a very long time, and cooked to perfection (medium rare). We live about 80 miles away, but we've already talked about coming back here for drive out and a meal one day when the weather is nicer. 10/10

We were a party of nine but were made very welcome, served promptly with our drinks and our starters and main course. All beautifully presented and with very cheerful staff. Very reasonably prices too. I would certainly go there again!

Fabulous Steak, Chips & a bottle of wine, two for £20 on a Thursday evening!

Came here on Sunday evening just after 7pm for a meal. The pub was busy, but we quickly got served drinks, we got a table in the conservatory and were impressed with the choices on the menu. We had homemade steak & ale pie and the Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni. The Cannelloni was roasting hot and you could tell it was freshly made, the chips were lovey - nice and chunky and not at all greasy! Steak & ale pie was really tasty and the pastry was perfect! Service was very good. The only criticism I have is that the conservatory was extremely hot so could have done with air con or the windows being opened. Would not hesitate to go back again.

Great selection of real ales proper pub

We visited this restaurant as a random pick. We’ve spent the morning walking around Stiperstones. We phoned approx. 1:30 PM on a Saturday. It sounded busy but they still accommodated us. The front looks quirky with its conservatory at the front. Limited parking space and it’s by a busy road. However, as you step in, the ambience of a British pub is emanating from the bar up to where our table was. It’s a lovely feeling! The lady welcomed us warmly and immediately showed us our table. I couldn’t fault the service and the food! It was that nice I forgot to take a photo of it! I had cod and chips. I think the chips are homemade. The hubby had a beef lasagne. And we had a lovely tia Maria cheesecake! Delightful to say the least. The price is affordable and o would say well worth it. I couldn’t comment on the toilets as we have not used it during our visit. We were so pleased with this random pick. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. Yes, I may have not caught our waitress’ name as she forgot to introduce herself, however, the friendly and swift service is still remarkable. Thank you for accommodating us at a short notice.

We Recently visited the Horseshoe pub on a Thursday night for their steak night! 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £20.00. Amazing offer and amazing food. I have also visited on a Sunday lunch which is equally as good. Geoff and Theresa are very welcoming and excellent hosts and the staff are also excellent. I would highly recommend a visit.

Very friendly and food was very nice would definitely go again

We popped into the Horseshoe for a light lunch en route and were delighted with the service and the quality of the food. The prawns were plump and delicious and the chips were perfectly fried and fluffy inside. The premises were spotlessly clean. Our hosts, Geoff and Teresa, as we expected, were friendly and welcoming - we had previously been guests of theirs at Barmouth. It was lovely to chat and catch up. We shall no doubt drop in again when we are over that way.

Seven of us ate here for lunch. This will be the third time I have visited the pub in the last six months. The licensees Geoff and Teresa, are very welcoming and friendly.

Ideal pub for lunch on way to hospital appointment or visiting. Short distance from Shrewsbury. Teresa's cooking always very good and value for money. Bar staff excellent, very friendly and work so hard.

Visited this pub today for the first time, staff friendly and helpful. I’d forgotten my spectacles and they lent me a pair in order to peruse the menu ! Lovely food, generous portions and obviously popular with local folk. Recommended.

Geoff and Teresa can be congratulated for making the Horseshoe an ideal village local. It is always a pleasure whenever we call in for just a drink or a meal. The reception is always genuinely friendly, the service exceptional and the food superb. Exactly as a local inn should be.

Had a most enjoyable meal here on a Monday evening. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was good. Everything freshly cooked. Would recommend the fish and chips.

Nothing fancy - Friendly, spotlessly clean and welcoming. Good choice on regular menu and a tempting specials board.

Lacking atmosphere back ground music may help when not busy. But not to loud.

We called in for lunch yesterday on the way to visit a friend who was ill.

This is our second visit to this pub in recent months. It really is a great country pub, the owners are really friendly and are interested in customer satisfaction. On this occasion three of us ate here. Two of our party had the steak and ale pie and I had a ribeye steak. All the food was fantastic, the homemade chips are the best ever. On this occasion we were too full for deserts, but previously we have tried the deserts and they are as good as the main courses. This could become a regular haunt.

Very pleasant experience. Cheerful staff and welcoming customers. Great real ale, well kept and dispensed. Good meal, hot and tasty. All in all, a good evening for the five of us!

This was the last of the three pubs in Pontesbury that we visited during our short stay in the village. The welcome we received at the other two could not compare to the friendly “hello” we received from both the staff and regulars sat at the bar, when we walked in. This goes a long way and we decided to eat there the following night, having liked the look of the menu and sampled the quality of their beers whilst sat on the sun terrace at the back of the pub.

This was our first visit to this pub and it was fantastic. This is what pub food should be like, homemade tasty food. The portions are generous and the chips that come with the meals are delicious homemade chips. The deserts are homemade too and excellent value at £3.95. The service was excellent too, with the pub having a very homely atmosphere. We will definitely be back soon

Good service friendly customers and staff. Food lovely and hot .set in a lovely village the horseshoes is well none for good food.

This was one of our first visits to the Horseshoe Inn and will not be our last. Car parking is available and can accommodate varying size vehicles. We had a warm welcome upon entering the premises for afternoon lunch and were allowed to seat at a table of our own choosing. We sat in the nice conservatory eating area with our children. The food portions were good and the prices are in line with the quality of food, even the children’s portions were large. I had the vegetarian option (Homemade broccoli and cheddar quiche)which was delicious. The lady who greeted us and served us was friendly and extremely efficient with the service, keep up the great work and we look forward to our visits to your establishment.

Wrote my last review about one year ago and since then, health and circumstances permitting, my wife and I have made more visits to this excellent pub. Geoff, Teresa and staff run a great pub, a true local. It's just a pity we live a bit further away, but the more we call in, the more we like it, and the more we'll be back. Love it.
