Went on sunday 23rd March had steak and chips.chips were to well done as onion rings.peppercorn sauce had more lumps than custard.my wife had roast chicken dinner Yorkshire pudding was rock hard.and had roast potatoes and pigs and blankets missing.will not be going again. Was awful

Went yesterday - ordered food that should have been simple to make however the food was abysmal. £8.95 for a chicken and bacon baguette that was stale, small amount of bacon, a tiny sprinkle of lettuce. sent the stale baguette back and then came back out another stale baguette. The rest of the food was dunked and fried in oil. A lot of money for freezer food deep fried in oil. Never used to be bad here. Definitely do not recommend

Service was great as always. My partner had the 8oz rump, well done. He was very happy with it, cooked exactly to his liking.

It was a highlight of the week, bringing in a loyal crowd who came back time and time again for the great atmosphere and the pure joy of a real pub quiz. So what does the manager decide to do? Get rid of James. An utterly ridiculous, short-sighted decision that shows a complete lack of understanding of what makes The Horn and Trumpet special. Instead of keeping the quiz that people actually want, they’ve scrapped James’ well-loved format in favor of—what? A soulless, phone-based alternative? A poor imitation of what worked so well? If the goal was to drive away regulars, they’re succeeding. People didn’t just come for a quiz; they came for James’ quiz—the one that created a sense of community, where people could enjoy a drink, put their heads together over a proper paper quiz, and have a great night. Now that’s been taken away for absolutely no good reason. If the management at The Horn and Trumpet has any sense, they’ll reverse this disastrous move before they ruin one of the few things that made the pub stand out. Come here on a Thursday, for food and a fun quiz (paper based), hosted by James. New management are getting rid of James in favour of a digital quiz. Shocking decision. We won't be coming to the pub as you cannot do a digital quiz with a group of friends! The staff on Thursday night are always friendly which all adds up to a great night out.

Come here every Thursday for the fun and vibrant atmosphere that the Quiz brings. Jim has always made us feel welcome from the first day we stepped in and knew nobody. The staff are brilliant as well, quick service and always with a smile. Always busy on the Thursdays as well which adds to the atmosphere. Would be a shame if the rumours are true and the quiz is no longer hosted by Jim, probably won’t return after the refurb due to this.

Best quiz night in Stoke and a greedy franchise want to get rid of the quizmaster that packs the pub every Thursday. Shameful

Only come to the pub for the quiz every Thursday and now new greedy management have replaced James. Will be following James where ever he goes! Over priced and won’t be returning under new management.

We absolutely love coming to this pub every Thursday for the quiz, the energetic and fun vibe the quizmaster brings is just amazing. The only reason we started coming to this pub in the first place but to hear they are getting rid means we won’t be coming again. Staff are brilliant though can’t fault them!

I live round the corner and come every Thursday for the quiz. I only come because of Jimmy who does the quiz and the entertainment and familiar faces that come because of him. I have heard that Jimmy will no longer be doing the quiz so I will no longer be coming. We spend a lot of money at the pub each week including food between the 6 of us. I think it's tremendously short sited and I suggest the management get used to it being dead on thursdays like it is every other night of the week. We will be finding out where Jimmy is doing his quiz instead and be taking out 2-300 pound spend with us. This is no reflection on the staff, they are all brilliant and really welcoming and look after us every week.

Quiz night isn’t broken. It would be commercial suicide to replace your one and only successful night that’s guaranteed to be repeated week in and week out by its current customer base. The new manager needs to understand the success is down to its customers, and it’s Thursday night customers (who also spend lots on other nights of the week) who have spoken. Don’t. Just don’t. It’s our pub! Jimmy quiz and the involvement from the rest of the Horn team has become a legendary night and they all have created Thursdays. Replace Jimmy’s quiz night then try to replace all your customers.

Since they've decided to remove the quiz master at the end of March we won't be coming back. The only reason people come to the pub is because of the quiz but since corporate greed has taken president. The staff are amazing but are being let down by the people who run the pub

To the cut the quiz master (james) to save at best 40quid & thinking the quiz teams will stay is actually comedic. Knowing that he is the sole reason this pub makes the extra income on a Thursday is down to him. He goes. We all go

I order my meal when it arrived it was awful I don't make this decision likely it was not what I expected not happy at all

This is a lovely pub, great atmosphere, but the staff are what make it a place you want to come back to. The bar staff remember you, remember what you drink, offer you the best deals, and genuinely care about you. You will be treated as a person, and not just “another customer”. I’m very lucky to be local, I wouldn’t go anywhere else (there’s 2 pubs closer) It’s very family friendly, no problems, a dart board free for all to use (with darts behind the bar to play with) food is always good, and a great variety on the menu! There’s also offers on certain days for food and drinks, pizza days, steak days, just a great place to visit.

Four meals bought , to be fair ,three of them were enjoyed the fourth was awful .Half of the rump steak could not be cut with a steak knife let alone be chewed . Complaint to the chef went unanswered . The table was sticky .

No coffee, no tuna. Ordered jacket potato's ( definately frozen ones) with chilli and cheese... came without cheese and very little chilli, however the girl serving was lovely and went to get us a tiny bit more .... I wouldn't bother eating here again......... oh and when we arrived we had to ask for the table to be cleaned FROM THE PREVIOUS NIGHT !!!!!

When arriving the table was ready for all 14 of us 😊 staff were friendly and helpful. When ordering food - we did have several orders but the food came out at the same time and all hot, there were a couple of mistakes but they were sorted out no problems at all, the staff behind the bar and waiting on staff were more than happy to sort any issues out. They sorted out the cake and were happy to sing happy birthday with us all. Tables were cleared quickly. The food was lovely, hot and came out in a timely manner, over all a really good experience and will definitely be returning 😀

Great atmosphere from the get go, warn and inviting, nice decently sized pub amazing outside area. Friendly staff always willing to serve you a pint, very approachable and any questions just ask. Food is good depending on how busy it is, sometimes you’ll have one side of your pizza burnt but it’s understandable for how busy it gets. Only real complaint is the prices just be willing to reach into those pockets.

Quite disappointed went for lunch with my friend at at 1pm there was only one banquet left, we always have these and the main reason we choose this pub. If it was later in the day I could possibly understand.

I came Friday evening with my sister April we had lovely fish and chips the staff were very helpful and made our night comfortable especially Izzy so thankyou, sorry it was only 4 x stars but due to a crowded table with all male drinkers we could not have a conversation as these boys were far too loud and overpowered our relaxing meal. Me and my wife have been here a few times recently. The food is great, staff are great and service- especially from Lilley-Mae is great. She’s very friendly, polite and attentive.

Husband got my order wrong and they corrected it no quibble in minutes. Lovely server was Lilly-Mae. Friendly and helpful.

We as a family come to the Horn and Trumpet alot the staff are so welcoming, they make a really lovely effort to be friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere is always good, a genuine lovely pub with a lovely bunch of staff, Will especially is a lovely boy:)

Disappointed. The pub was full due to half term and an animal event but the staff were helpful and friendly when we arrived with no booking and soon found us a table but it went downhill when the food arrived. We had fish, chips and mushy peas, both the fish and mushy peas seemed like they had been cooked for a while, the peas were dry and a bit crusty on top, the fish was dry and batter hard, the only good part was the chips. We didn't complain as we were both hungry and thought it would take quite a while for anything better.

We went for Sunday lunch but a total disaster. The worst roast beef we’ve ever had - all fat and gristle. Yorkshire puddings flat and tough, vegetables overcooked.

As usual, my experience left nothing to be desired. I, as well as both other members of my party received great quality service, as well as delicious food; we loved it and will of course be back again soon.

Can’t recommend highly enough, I visit the horn and trumpet regular enough usually at least once a week and sometimes more often. Every single time if it’s for food with the family or just a drink while passing, it’s just a really nice place to spend and hour or so. The food is good and so are the drinks if it’s just a chilled one you fancy, also perfect for bringing the kids as my lad would agree. The thing that stands out for me is the atmosphere and the staff in general, Holly especially Is lovely, friendly and chatty she has now even memorised our drinks order. Overall just a great place to eat, drink and relax.

Yesterday was my Husband's funeral and we booked the space and silver buffet at the Horn and Trumpet. We were all impressed by the food and service and would like to thank Chelsea, Holly, Will P and Will B for their excellent food and service.

We had a lovely meal thank you. Our table was waiting just as I requested on the booking system, quieter and easy access for elderly parents in law. The waitress Lilley-Mai was very polite, attentive and smiley. Bar staff were professional and quick to serve. The manager was very supportive in explaining how to sign up for future offers. Thank you all.

Been not long ago meals took ages to come out and were poor, went in for a meeting with a friend the other day and the nachos were horrible and cold as well also

Service really good from start to finish, couldn’t do enough. Food came within 20 minutes of ordering, couldn't knock the price. Will be returning in the near future.

Staff just look miserable. The place has gone severely downhill the past year. It seems that it is just run by children. Staff seemed more concerned about speaking about each other than actually helping customers.

We got there around 5pm ordered roast beef and lasagna, the food wasn't as fresh as it probably was earlier in the day, but filled the spot. The pub started to become busier and louder so we left to go home. Nothing against the pub, we were just tired.

We attended for a birthday meal last night 3/8/24, the service was fab, the food was amazing and the price was good.. will definitely be black again

Enjoyable meal, service was good. I would just like to say that more attention needs to be paid to cleaning the tables properly. I pulled the table closer to me and the sides were very sticky and, clearly, had not been cleaned for some time.
