It was busy and we didn't have reservation (they didn't accept bookings at the time for some reason), as a result we were sat the window which had a view of a lorry, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce (where I went for Chinese school) and the stage door to the Prince Edward. Not a great view for my friend who was visiting London though it then prompted me to tell her stories of my experiences in the area as a kid so it wasn't so bad. It was pretty noisy and the atmosphere a bit chaotic through out our meal, to be honest they could have turned the music down a little. I got the lamb kari with a normal dosa which was delicious. My friend ordered a chill cheese dosa and aubergine kari. The dosa was way too spicy for her... and the waitress was kind enough to give use another plain dosa free of charge so she could enjoy the meal when they checked in on us mid meal. I think the price for the food is reasonable for Soho. Honestly I am not sure get the Michelin rating as enjoyable as the meal was it wasn't anything to go out of the way to get... especially when there is a lot of good place to eat in the area.

We had a fabulous lunch at Hoppers Soho. The food was delicious and the service was second to none. We were really well looked after by Mish and Tanya. Mish helped us pick a great selection of dishes. We started with the hot butter squid, chilli broccoli and devilled paneer then had the chicken curry, prawn curry with a side of cabbage/ beetroot with a chilli cheese dosa and an egg hopper. A great amount of spice and had a brilliant time tasting the dishes and learning about the food in preparation for our trip to Sri Lanka. We also bought the book as we don’t think we can wait until our next trip to London to try some more of the dishes! Thank you Tanya and Mish for making our trip to London from Newcastle extra special, we will be back!

I had seen this restaurant on masterchef and was excited to try it. However I was disappointed that the hoppers were much smaller than seen on tv. Indeed all the dishes were small and we were hungry again an hour later. The food was very tasty however.

Great central spot for the theatres. Service good, staff very pleasant and orders taken quickly. Food excellent and quality and quantity on point. Relatively priced and it does get busy. We had window seats and if going at peak times you must reserve a table. Tried the Hoppers at Kings X which I through edged the two. Would recommend and re visit when next in London.

Went for a solo lunch. Loved the food. Told waiter it was my first time and asked for a recommendation. He asked how hungry I was…and when I said “medium”, he immediately said I should just have a lamb khotu roti. Then my friend who had recommended the place to me texted to say I should order the pol samba and a hopper (spongy fermented bread). So I did! I also had a cocktail called arrack attack. I inhaled the dishes…very delicious. Next time I would maybe not have had the arrack attack, as it was essentially just a pricy ginger beer… 😏 Very fast… I was in and out in just over half an hour! Nice service. Had to share a table which was quite close.

The restaurant is too tiny and it feels more like a cafe. It is supposed to be a Michelin, but the cutleries were so ordinary. The food was tasty but the whole presentation was very basic. It was a very crowded restaurant and I am sure lots of people enjoy the food and everything else. The restaurant could have promoted the authentic feel of Sri Lankan cuisine but did not. Only the music in the background seems to capture the essence of this restaurant.

Reasonable food which is unique but otherwise that commodity a London restaurant ,narrow shop containing a 4x markup on wine , impossibility of a hot cup of tea .,restricted menu, water served in old gin bottles ,waiting staff without names and unless you sit at bar not for the fat sorry obese sorry American tourists hence limited ambience. The majority of restaurants in central London are rather like those elsewhere —too many tourists leading to inflated prices and disinterested staff

Amazing Sri Lankan food here. We were recommended by a restaurant in Inverness. And we’ve been two nights in a row. Lucky to get a table as it is fully booked. Service is fantastic. The staff are very busy but patient and explained what is in the dishes. We’ve had black pork Kari, Lentil and root Bariyani, prawn Kari, bone marrow kari. They are all good. My favourite is Black pork Kari. Restaurant is clean and food is a must for south East Asian food lovers.

The food way ok but came cold in temperature to the table. The worst part was the portions are tiny compared to the price. My wife ordered a masala tea which could barely be seen in the smallest cup. We ordered a coke which came in a tiny 200 ml bottle. We ordered dosa"s which came without sambar or coconut chutney. They had to be ordered for an extra £7! Which is a bit like ordering a sandwich and you only get the slices of bread and you have to buy the filling separately. Or ordering a pizza and getting only the base because you have to pay extra for any sort of topping! The 12.5% service charge is added as then an extra £1 for charity. Nobody knows what charity they have added the extra £1 for nor can you take off the discretionary service charge! All in all left feeling a bit cheated.

Accidentally fell over this place while queueing up for Ronnie Scott's next door when the guy we'd seen on telly on Celebrity Masterchef the night before popped out of the restaurant with a bag of food for a delivery driver! Made me take notice for sure so after the gig we went back, it was very busy but he said give me a minute & voila, found us a table. Loved it all, highly recommend the egg hopper (obviously!), chicken chettinadu bites (spicy), lamb kothu roti & the prawn kari, couldn't finish it all so had a doggy bag. Very friendly & helpful staff (which was good as a lot of the menu was new to us, which in itself was great) & the cost, with a couple of beers, was exceptionally reasonable, especially for Soho. Looking forward to our next visit.

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch, from the moment we walked through the door. The two staff we were helped by were hugely knowledgable and gave some great recommendations. We are a big fan of spice so the curries had a great level of heat for us, layers of flavour and the Kothu (which we were there for originally) was one of the best we’d tasted. There is something for every palate though, my son (less brave with chilli) was a big fan of the chilli cheese Dosa with the curry leaf raita, with the prawn kari. We’ll be back!

Exceptionally poor hospitality. Five of us were given just 1hr 45 minutes for our ‘dining experience’. Informed upon arrival that we only had until 8pm as the next sitting arriving then! We have never experienced anything like it, rushed from start to finish. We had to stop plates from being removed before we had finished and no ‘time’ for dessert. Hopper… With your ethos being ‘genuine hospitality’ I’m afraid you failed dismally. We did not feel like valued diners, we felt like ‘cash machines’ simply dispensing our hard earned money to line the pockets of the owners. A wholeheartedly disappointing experience for all five of us and such a shame as we booked for a special occasion. £250 wasted.

This is the next step from Dishoom. In fact, ditch Dishoom and come and dine here. I waited for ages to dine here and I did not regret it. Every dish was delicious and well presented. Try the squid and dosas.

Wonderful selection, I had the express lunch with goat, mutton and pork and it was so delicious. Perfectly spiced and tender and was plenty of food for 1 person.

Christopher Place branch recommended by a friend so decided to come here when out with a friend. The food was nice enough (if a touch pricy for "curry" but OK, this is Soho). Not terribly impressed by £5 for a small can of lager and...

I know nothing about food from this part of the world but for a first timer Hoppers definitely does a good job of convincing you that this could be something someone in Sri Lanka would serve. Recommended to me by a Sri Lankan I had...

First of all the food tastes good no complaints. Service was decent and relatively quick. Basic layout and like a fast food style layout. The problem I had was the pricing. For a plain dosa in most other restaurants comes with sambar and chutney included...

Excelente calidad y cantidad, así como un buen servicio. Cada plato fue distintivo y muy bien cocinados, muy superior a la "bultos habitual de inferior cosas en la misma salsa que la mayoría de los restaurantes de curry servir.

A big shout out to the Ceo of Golden Shalimar alongside his staff who catered for us last night after we've been to the Derby County game. The service/food was absolutely outstanding 👏 & were even provided with complimentary drinks. The restaurant is definitely a 5* rating for a unique fine dining experience by far!! Thanks once again J

I had dinner here with a friend the other night. The food was the best Indian food I have had in ages. A real 5/5 in my opinion. Service and ambience very good, too. Prices reasonable.

Was a little perplexed to find the Couthouse Hotel afternoon tea was set in an indian restaurant. Staff were very Indian (you’re 5 minutes early sir) but did a sterling job. Champagne on arrival, tiered platter of finger sandwiches, scone cream jam, assorted desserts followed by tea/coffee. Pro’s - it was a good experience and we wanted to have a good time. Con’s - bread was poor quality (cheap), felt a little rushed, ambience was noisy but appreciate that was just the other patrons on the day.
