Review 2. 4.8.24 Came here yesterday as had good experience as great bar staff yesterday. Today was a very bad experience and I won't be back for that reason. Red haired aussie girl couldn't be bothered to serve me, service was slow and didn't tell me hiw much beers were. Her and her dark haired mate had really bad c attitudes and couldn't be bothered to work on a Sunday afternoon. The manager should have a word with them!!!.

Went here as it had been touted for incredible pies! They were very good & a good price, but we ordered the steak & Stilton ones & were pretty certain we had the plain steak ones as could not taste any Stilton. Big portions, great gravy & extras at very cheap prices. Nice little bar, but only downside was the ridiculously loud football on the tv. Couldn’t hear each other and the bar staff seemed more interested in the match than serving.

Having been to the Juniper Room for my hen do I was so excited to go back with my wife and brothers and sisters. I phoned to check if the Juniper Room would be open as was told it opened at 5pm. We arrived earlier and got a drink in the bar downstairs. We had intended on moving upstairs at 5 and ordering the famous pies. However coming up to 7pm we gave up as although they kept saying it was opening and with curt, unhelpful responses from the manager we didn't want to give them our custom anymore. Such a different experience to my previous visit. I don't think I would return to an average pub and wouldn't risk the journey on the off chance the gin bar was open.

I cannot rate this place highly enough. There was a very large group of us, I asked to pre-book an area and Thom (the manager) was so accommodating and even let us send him some decorations that he then put up for us so it looked how we wanted when we arrived. Thom and the other barman in the Juniper Room were so knowledgeable about the gins and even those among us who do not drink gin left as converts as they can find something for everyone! The bar snacks were amazing and so reasonably priced - we all had plenty to line our stomachs and didn't feel like we'd spent loads at all. The pies are to die for but so were all the snack platters we ordered too. We cannot fault our time there and will definitely be back, whether in a big group or just a few. The pub used to be a friendly traditional market pub with a steak restaurant upstairs, sandwiches carved from a joint on the bar downstairs and a selection of quaffing ales and lagers. From the out-side this looks like any London pub in and around Smithfield but once you go up-stairs to the small intimate gin lounge you find a whole differnt world. Again the little lounge is nothing special but the real hidden gem is the gin selection and a very helpful, friendly and knowledable barman who is more than happy to take you through the gin collection. Apart from some of the more obvious gins there are plaenty of obsure and diffent gins, each with their didtinctive flavours and styles from dry to sweet, floral to citrus and eveything in between. There was four of us in our group so we decided to each try something different. We ahd great fun tasting and sharing the various gins whilst the barman took us through the diffent notes and tastes of each one. They are perfectly matched with some unsual mixers - basil and raspberries being a particualar favourite. The large doubles are generous and actually reasonably priced for London bar prices. Compared to soem of the other prices we paid for drinks that night - this was a bargin for great gin and a fun place. A good place to start you evening or possibly round off a tough day?

Upstairs was pretty empty with the 3 other people there leaving within 10mins. The bar man upstairs proceeded to tell my partner and I that he had no time for people who drank wine with a glass of water and along with a few other similar remarks made us feel uncomfortable. I told him he was being rude as we had been offered to go upstairs to this now empty bar with our bottle of wine and some water. It's a small quaint and attractively refurbished space, hardly large enough for a pub, more of a single bar. It has become a showcase for Pieminster pies, which are given unecessarily silly names so that the steak and kidney pie I chose was called something like cake and sidney. It oozed thick tasty pieces of meat rendering the additional gravy in a boat largely redundant. I could just have easily chosen pick choizo and butter beans. Accompanying mash was silky smooth. The barman told me about a showboat deal which would have added another side and shallots. There is a good choice of beer on tap including my choice of the excellent Meantime Red. Apparently it has a mean list of gins too.

E i colleghi Inglesi confermano.Anche il prezzo, sempre considerando di essere nel cuore di Londra, e' corretto (una decina di sterline). Una pinta, invece, costa il doppio del normale (circa 5 sterline).Il personale e' gentile e il locale e' pulito.

I called earlier in the week to book an area for a big group however on arrival they had no record of the booking, however there was room upstairs, despite being told this was full. Once we had ordered some drinks we tried to order food however nearly everything we asked for was out of stock, and the food we did have wasn't great, and pretty soon the gin selection started to run low too despite being a gin bar. Service too wasn't great as the only barman preferred restocking the bar and chatting rather than serving the busy bar. There are plenty of other great pubs in the area so I'd give this one a miss.

Good pub good location but rude bar manager (Tom). Refused to take a £10 note because it was Northern Irish. I'd expect a bar manager to know what is or isn't legal tender, but more to the point if the manager is uncertain I'd expect them to be apologetic rather than flat out and rudely refuse to look at it.

Salt Beef dry and just one layer. Salt beef is always multilayer in sandwiches from a specialty restaurant to a small cafe. This was really disappointing. The wine was a good Merlot but the tables were so sticky, i used a pamphlet that was on the table to stop my arms sticking to it! Not Impressed!

Yes, it's a bit tatty and the WCs leave a lot to be desired but this is one of the last remaining old style pubs in the area with plenty of history and a stunning Victorian glass window frontage. Lunchtime is best here as they serve wonderful meat sandwiches, always beef and usually one or two further choices, carved from joints. Karen is normally on duty and a nicer lady you couldn't meet. She has been there for some 18 years and can remember and greet returning 'regulars' by name most of the time. Usually a couple of real ales on offer and normal range of lagers and Guinness. I believe that the old upstairs restaurant is only open when booked in advance. Other pub style grub available in the bar and open for breakfast at 6am.

Due to a prolonged spell in hospital during 2014 I had not visited this pub for some time. However a former work colleague and I visited for a breakfast and a few beers and it was very enjoyable. The pub has great character, a good collection of customers to exchange banter with, good beer and good food. I think this is the one remaining pub around Smithfield of this type and long may it continue.

We took a friend for a birthday breakfast. We booked in advance but they had no record of this. We were not allowed upstairs and had to eat in the bar. The staff had a minimal grasp of English. The portions were large but the food was unremarkable.

Pub empty and run down. £10 spend on cards is very old fashioned. They started cashing up at about 9.30pm...

This pub is a tatty , scruffy looking place which is in a shocking state. I've had excellent cooked breakfast's Here for years but since that stopped serving breakfast upstairs and you have to eat in the grotty ground floor bar now it's not the place it used to be . The Sirloin breakfast consists of a pot of tea , toast , egg, bacon ,sausage , black pudding, lambs liver and kidney, beans , mushrooms and grilled tomatoes all for £9.95 which is quite incredible , Shame the surroundings are in such a poor state .We had breakfast here at 8am while we watched a guy at the bar drink 4 pints of beer during the time we hadour breakfast , amazing !

Compramos 1 macchiato (1,40 ), 1 croissant y 1 americano blanco (1,80 ). Nunca volveremos!

Great option in Islington! We had a burrata tomato starter and steak-frites for two. Great wine recommendation from the young man serving us.

I reserved a table for dining at 8.30pm on a Friday night but turned up to be told that the kitchen was closed. The advertised kitchen hours on the website are 12:00-22:00, so needless to say, we were very disappointed. Considering that the booking I made online was for dining, one of the team members could have emailed or phoned ahead of our arrival to let us know that they would not be serving food, which would have left us time to make other arrangements.

Shocking rude violent staff inc bar staff! Such a shocking experience I would avoid this establishment. We had to call the police against the door staff as they assaulted us and physically through us out violently.
