Had a quick meal at Hoo Hing before doing some shopping. I had prawn dumplings with noodles. The food was really nice as well as cheap (just over £3 / meal) and the service was very fast. We always eat before shopping at Hoo Hing (。>ω<)。

A bowl of dumplings and noodles costs around £4, however the portions may be a little small. For one person, I would suggest getting a bowl of noodles and some dim sum. Although there are only a few chefs, the service is quite efficient regarding the number of customers. After eating, it is nice to shop around as you can find good deals in the Asian store

The Hoo Hing is mainly a supplier/wholesaler for Chinese Restaurant Businesses. It has a wide range of items including food paper bags, tin foil dishes and plastic food boxes. I usually visit the Hoo Hing to source items such as Brown carry out bags which I use with Junior Girls for handicraft activities. Portion pots to make mini cheese cakes and square foil dishes for a range of uses. You have buy a large number of items although they sell the portion pots in packs of 125. The foil dishes are about £22 for a 1000, 2.2p each compared to the supermarket price of 10p per dish. Most of the staff speak Cantonese, but are helpful if you can't find a particular item.

A handy place to get all your staple Asian food supplies. Free parking outside. Frozen and fresh foods and a quirky little cafe style eat in section. Have used for many years.

This oriental supermarket has a decent stock of items, not as big as wing yip, but very useful for a variety of things. Some items are really good value, and very fresh e.g. 30 eggs (very large and very yellow yolk) and beansprouts (50p for a decent size bag). Also, they do a selection of dim sum and soups/rice dishes in the canteen/restaurant attached. It's not the biggest selection of dim sum, it is not amazing and it does get quite busy at weekends, but it is very good value and quite satisfying all said.

Great supermarket, great selection of Asian foods. I particularly love the quality of the curry pastes and the fresh noodles! I love wandering around this shop, discovering new things and being inspired to cook new exciting meals.

Won ton noodle soup, and char siu buns are great here. Staff a little brusque, but it just adds to the authentic Chinese atmosphere!

Bad It gets really busy at opening times, lack of tables. Good Hidden gem in a supermarket. Food is cheap and delicious off a small menu. My advice is if there is no cue order then shop. Would I go again, its one of those places you need to go to again and again.

This Oriental Food Specialist has a small restaurant at the back of the building, the menu is not extensive, however having been there on many occasion can say this ' no frills' establishment serves consistantly good food of the same standard even when the cooks change over. The place is normally busy, it is a great venue for a quick lunch and is really good value.

The best Chinese food around, tucked inside a supermarket and with great fare. The dumplings are excellent, freshly cooked and quickly served. The rolls are also pretty excellent. Once you get over the no-fuss attitude and tables, a great place to be for lunch or snack.

Whilst eating my lunch I had a moral dilemma, share this little gem or keep this a secret. £6.90, lunch for two - yes really - read on. Obviously, I decided to publish. Hoo Hing is essentially a supermarket but they have recently opened a lunchtime restaurant serving from 11:45 to 16:00, last orders at 15:45. We were there for a late lunch from about 14:45 and it was immediately apparent that when tables were freed up they were immediately taken. Something good was happening here! After one visit I can offer only a limited view of the menu as we has one dish each. however, looking at the dishes being served up I know I am not going to be disappointed when I go back. I would add that going back is not a question of if, just a question of when. I had crispy pork and duck with noodles and my other half had the chicken & mushroom with rice, both were served with a piquant chilli sauce in a small dish. The meal is very tasty if a bit rustic. My pork was in two mouthfuls crispy and meats and then not crispy and quite fatty if the truth be known. Speaking with another diner this is can be the case with the pork a bit hit and miss and can be quite fatty, also watch out for a few bones with the pork. However, the duck was faultless as were the noodles and the soup. My partners chicken and mushroom dish was served on a huge bed of rice and was delicious and filling, a meal in itself. A testament to this was that neither of us felt a need to have dinner after having a late lunch at Hoo Hing. So why should you go there - firstly the food is fab, its not going win any awards but this is the killer bit, not only is it delicious but it is BIG value for money. I had pictures of our lunch and the bill, but for some bizarre reason I do not seam to have an option to load them. TA get back to me if you want them. Like I said, we will definitely be going back.
