I have visited the Bayee Village 3 times over the last 3 years and it’s looking very tired. The menu and decor need a thorough update. The quality of the food is nothing special and yet the cost is going up.Its very expensive for not a lot frankly. We left feeling very underwhelmed and very light in the pocket. I won’t be going back there and there are some very good Thai restaurants in the Village.

Having had a few disappointing Chinese meals at local restaurants recently we thought we should try somewhere slightly further afield. We therefore went for the Bayee Village Chinese Restaurant in Wimbledon Village. We were really pleased we did. From the outset the food was a step change from the meals we had of late. We started off trying the Rotisserie sampler as a light starter. The belly pork just melted beautifully, and the duck and pork were also note worthy. Everything was excellently seasoned. Aromatic Duck is a firm favourite, but somehow even this was better than the norm, somehow less greasy without being dry and slightly crispy without being overdone. Finally the main worth mentioning was the scallops, squid and prawn sizzling dish. All excellently cooked! Its not cheap at the Bayee Village, but it is worth it!

Absolutely love this place. The décor, menu and atmosphere are just what you would expect from a truly authentic Chinese restaurant. It's traditional menu does not disappoint and there's a good selection of vegetarian/vegan options - as well as dishes to suit all budgets. The service miiiight be construed as a little abrupt (on your first visit), but the staff and service are all part of the rich character of the place and once you embrace it, it's a great experience.

There’s clearly quite an appetite for Asian food in Wimbledon Village as evidenced by the recent arrivals of branches of Thai restaurants Patara and Giggling Squid to add to Thai Tho. Bayee Village occupying part of the same building as the Fox & Hounds Pub is the only Chinese. It’s a swish spot comprising a large but rather dark room with alcoves behind an entrance area marked by large water features, tanks and bowls in which brightly coloured fish swim. Oranges hang from the ceiling. The menu is a bit confusing starting with specialities in fact culled from various sections in the rest of the menu. There are some items available ranging from prawn crackers to duck with pancakes and even bottled beers which are not shown on the menu at all. Notwithstanding a slightly shaky start with some slightly chewy chicken satay swamped in peanut butter sauce with a not inexpensive £10 price tag, and a hot and sour soup with chicken rather than prawns but piquant enough, mains were consistently excellent. Perhaps best of all a generous portion of crispy fried duck, but monkfish with broccoli and chicken with bok choi were also good, their steamed vegetables cooked to perfection. Service from male waiting staff in suits and ties was both polite and efficient.

We like our chinese takeaways especially on a Friday night and there are some things that we really like about the food in this restaurant that keeps us ordering and ordering again. It makes a mean chicken chow mein and beef noodles soup. The service is quick and friendly, food portions are generous and the price reasonable for London. Take note though, we have tried several entrees and they are nowhere near as good as the main so would recommend going straight to the main course if you are ordering takeaway.

The food was great, chicken satay and ribs were delicious and their noodle dishes were really tasty. Kung Po Chicken was a real winner. Now the down side - it was Chinese food and a couple of bottles of wine - the bill worked out at about £70 a person - which seemed very pricey. Having previously eaten well at Bayee Village a couple of years ago, I went with a friend with high expectations. Whilst the food is still good, the prices are too high compared to higher quality establishments like The Good Earth in Esher. For example, a King Prawn Sweet and Sour dish for £14.50. For two people, each having two small alcoholic drinks each, the bill was just over £95. The service is very good and one therefore hopes that the staff are well rewarded by the owners given the price premium.

My friend from South African and I arrived on time and after standing in the entrance area for about 5 minutes, been seen by 2 employees at the bar, 3 waiter staff, noone approached the counter area to seat us. The restaurant was about 1/3 filled so really not busy. The one European waiter who blatantly ignored us , although he stepped in behind the counter. I greeted him, he ignored me again. I finally said very loudly , 'is anyone actually going to try and take note that you have two patrons waiting or should we just go elsewhere?' A waiter from somewhere in the restaurant arrived and although I had a reservation, made online, they had no record of it. But as it was certainly not full, he accommodated us and we were finally seated 10 mins after we arrived. The same European waiter was incredibly obnoxious when my friend later asked if he would please take a photograph of us. He said, 'No, as you can see I am busy!' I would like to inform him that my friend is currently and I am a past flight attendant for international airlines. He is obnoxious and very rude and clearly has no idea what busy is! Rude man! While the food that we did order was flavoursome and of good quality the portion sizes were inadequate which was very disappointing considering the restaurant is more expensive than it's counterparts. Realistically to come out of the restaurant feeling full you're looking at £50+ per head. in addition to this the service was woeful, not what you expect at the most expensive Chinese in town! The waiter rushed our order, we waited an hour for our food for one of the dishes not to arrive. We asked where the dish was to be told "it's on the way", arrived nearly three quarters of the way through our meal without so much as an apology. Inattentive staff all round as it was easier to obtain a drink in the Atacama than after our initial order had been made. By the time we finished our meal we were obviously keen to get out quickly so asked the main man for the bill, only to see him chuckling away on the other side of the restaurant 10 minutes later having obviously forgotten about us. Asked for the bill form one of his members of staff which quite laughably arrived with a 12.5% service charge which we duly ignored. Needless to say we won't be returning or recommending which is a shame given how good the restaurant looks at first impression

Then when the meal was served one of the dishes was missing which we asked for again when the meal was served, then again to a passing waiter and finally had to get the owner to go and get it after we're were more than half way through eating!!! No particular waiter seemed to serve our table, meaning constantly looking to get an elusive person to help with getting order. We visited on a busy Saturday evening . The venue is very pleasant with eye catching decorations and things like illuminated tanks full of lively exotic fish. The restaurant was packed and there were a couple of tables celebrating birthdays . The food was ok but by no means outstanding . The waiter got our order wrong , missed one dish out and brought a dish we hadn't ordered for another item. Still it was a reasonably enjoyable experience and the taste of the food is quite good .

The food was strangely just lacking flavour. The dim sum were bland, the chicken satay was average at best. We had ordered crispy duck and pancakes in the smallest portion available, which was a quarter. We hadn't realised they brought us a half duck as a mistake. We pointed out, after only eating half of it (i.e., a quarter!) that we only ordered a quarter. We were still charged for a half duck (£30) anyway even though it was their mistake. As much as we looked forward to possibly having a Chinese 'local' we won't be going back. There is much better food available out there.

We have all eaten a lot of chinease food, but definitely nothing as good as at the Bayee Viilage. The restaurant is extremely large but the service is fantastic. Lots of families having a happy time, and couples like us. It does not need to be too expensive if you choose wisely. The staff are lovely and will always helped the dishes are delivered they looked mouth watering. Sizzling beef, stir fri's and so much more. Just go there as you will not regret it, but book if you want to ensure a table. Goodness, I must go again very soon.

Food was nice, a good range of dishes on the menu, and a few unusual ones which you typically don't find in a chinese restaurant. however the service is what ruined it for me. Our waitress kept rushing everything, drinks, starters, mains, desserts. To the point where I had to say can you please leave us for at least 15 minutes and do not disturb. It was rather rude.
So this is the reason I gave a lower score.

To be honest I have had nicer food and an overall nicer experience in other places. I heard great things about here, so very disappointed. Likely will not return which is a shame as I am local.

This famed Wimbledon restaurant always draws in the punters especially during the tennis when we went. But the service was indifferent bordering on rude and it makes you wonder why you bother. The food is good not great and they should have done something about the decor by now. The village needs a standout Chinese but this place has become complacent.

I have been going to Bayee Village for many years and it never disappoints. Very good service and Peter, one of the managers, knows me well enough to anticipate the needs of me and whatever group I am with. This time I was with my family visiting from Scotland and they made us very welcome, as always! Recommend the hot Kung Ho chicken and the sea bass with ginger!

I have dined here quite a few times, service is quick, food excellent. My favourite is the fried lamb. It can be quite expensive though.

We have always found the food here to be a very respectable overall standard with decent service to go with it - more like what you would expect from a quality restaurant in Central London. It's more than you would pay in other Chinese restaurants but you should remember this is not a Chinese takeaway and it does serve a good variety of authentic Chinese dishes.

Very good Chinese restaurant in the heart of Wimbledon village. Quite expensive by comparison with the usual Chinese restaurants in the area but worth the trip.

Food was ordered very fast considering we had placed quite a large order at a prime time. Prices are a bit higher than other places but the higher quality is worth it. Prawn toast was the best we have
