Hong Sheng in Newport

Time and time again Hong Sheng are getting absolutely shocking with delivery. We live all of 5minutes away in the car from them and yet we ordered food at 7pm this evening to it not showing up at our address until 5 to 9. And this was only after my husband had called at quarter past 8 to ask where our food was and all they did was say sorry sorry when driver comes back we will send straight to you. It then looked like the actual chef turned up at our door with the food. This has to be the 4th maybe 5th time now this has happened to us. We leave it a few months and think we will give them another chance and yet nothing has improved, if anything the delivery time is getting worse! We order direct from their website and yet I feel like they don't even bother checking the food order receipts as they are coming in until its too late!!! Great disappointment - this is the last time we will be ordering from Hong Sheng. Poor poor service.

food came quick and was warm and good portions for its price.The owners are also very fun especially their son who likes to crack jokes some times

The service is dreadful. I was lied to regarding delivery time. It took over 2 hours to arrive, on a sunday night! The shops app just fobbed off me off with lies. Very small portions and was totally tasteless. Would not replace the order as the food was horrid. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will spend there hard earned money in this take away

Just had a meal from here first time is was absolutely beautiful extra spicy chicken curry was just what I like but still traditional taste 5 star will use this as my local delivery.

Really good food but let themselves down with the delivery. We were told it would take up to 1 hour. But it took one and a half hours, no call to say it was delayed, we just had to wait. It was a shame as the food was great and the price good

I ordered at 19.35 and delivery was supposed to be 21.00 well it came at 21.29 never have I had a delivery like that before and my mushrooms and noodles were lukewarm....!!

At the time of ordering the delivery time was stated as 7.35pm. However, once confirmed by the restaurant thus changed to 8.10 pm, it is too late to cancel your order then.

Received my meal over 30 mins late, and didnt recieve my big bottle of coke that I ordered with my meal but money was taken, took me over 30 mins on the phone to try and get my bottle of Coke and still didnt said I'd recieve a refund for it and still havnt

Food was good as it usually is, but not quite up to the standards of last time we ordered. We’ve loved it in the past. Food lacked a bit of flavour in some dishes, but still enjoyed. Delivery wasn’t great. Driver was early by 20mins (to the estate) yet food arrived 5mins late. Called me 3 times as couldn’t find house and then was parked outside sat in car for ages.

Back to their best. Delivery on time and really enjoyerd the meal. Nice work guys. Keep it up.

Was given 90 minutes delivery time. Called the restaurant at 10 minutes late to be told "oh yeah. We are just leaving now" Ended up waiting 2 hours

Find the Hong very hit and miss.Pleased to say it was a hit this time and hope it continues.When in top form its by far the best on here.

Ordered food at 7:10 ... delivery time due at 8:40 and the meal arrived at 9:40 ! I don’t know how this works but if restaurants can’t deliver the food within an hour then tell the customers before they pay and at least then they can choose somewhere else . I actually think this a decent Chinese but won’t be ordering again unfortunately. Tbf to the driver he was very polite and apologetic and said this is what happens when you order through just eat

We ordered for food to be delivered at 8pm and it was bang on time the food was lovely and hot and tasted amazing only 1 down fall and that was we left a note for the driver to call so they didn't wake the baby and she forgot she was very apologetic afterwards tho. Will 100% be ordering again 😋

Ordered food at 7pm told food would arrive at 8.30 pm didn’t arrive till 9.30 absolutely appalling service if they cannot Cope with so many orders then don’t take them

Food was hot and tasted delicious. Would recommend highly, best we have had a few from different places. But this has been the best by far. Will be using these from now on 👌👍

The food was good and the portions were very generous. The delivery guy was polite and friendly. The order was a little late but that’s part and parcel of ordering in on a Saturday night!

The best Chinese I have had in ages and will definitely be ordering from here again! The wife and I both loved it. Food was flavourful and arrived piping hot, despite being a few mins late. So glad we ordered enough for round 2 tomorrow! 😋

Order didn't arrive despite calling restaurant to be told it was on the way now they are closed and not answering the phone and just eat has gone on holiday...I want a full refund!!!

Placed order at 1815 to be delivered on time for 2100. Phoned restaraunt at 2100 had only just started cooking it and order time on their slip was 2130. Seeing as they were just cooking it when it arrived the noodles were cold.

Absolutely horrendous service. I used these on just eat as the delivery time showing was 35-45 minutes. When the order was placed it then indicated it was actually and hour and twenty minutes! And then, despite 2 phone calls to a very unhelpful person in the end of the phone who had no clue where my order was and then telling me it had just left the building.... And then turned up 40 minutes later..... Thus totalling over 2 hours from ordering to the lukewarm food arriving! I live on a main road but apparently the driver couldn't find my address?! Will never use these again, I'd try somewhere else guys

Veggies beware - we were given spring rolls that had chunks of mystery white meat in them. Also included a note saying no prawn crackers thanks, we're vegetarian. Was given prawn crackers.

Totally unacceptable delivery time. Was told max delivery time would be up until 21:00. Food turned up at 21:47. Deffinatel not worth the wait. Normally a good meal but we were deeply disapointed. We will not be using theese again!

Sad to leave a bad review but this order was ridiculously late and I called and was told it would be ten minutes. It turned up 40 minutes later. This is not the usual service from Hong Sheng. I hope this doesn't become a regular thing.

We ordered through just eat at 7:20pm. Our estimated delivery time was 8:35pm however it wasn’t delivered until 9:12pm. I called the restaurant at 8:45pm to find out where it was and was told ‘it should be with you soon’ but no offer to investigate any more or call the driver to track it down. Not happy!

Always perfect service, perfect food and perfect delivery. If I could give ten stars I would happily!

Always my number one choice for Chinese. On this occasion they did deliver one incorrect item but immediately apologised and arranged for the correct dish to be sent out as soon as possible and offered for us to keep the incorrect dish. Mistakes happen, it's how they're resolved that's important. Great customer service.

Chicken chow mein was very dry and beef curry was very chewy and didn't actually taste of beef at all. Very disappointed as this used to be my favourite place to get a Chinese from.

Delivered well before the estimated time, friendly driver, rang when he got lost as per my note, food was piping hot and tasted really fresh, free spring rolls was a nice touch, long delivery time when ordering so I was concerned but the food arrived at least 30 minutes before expected, will order again, highly recommended, thanks

Food was cold when it got here, got told driver got lost but no one rang us. When I called after an hour they said there was a road closure. Poor poor customer service

Fair play the food was lush but it was sooooooooo late. I was blamed for my house being hard to find? Which is not the case at all, I live in Caerleon so not sure how the driver managed to get lost on the one way system for so long. He didn’t apologise when the food arrived, just laughed and said it was too hard? The ladies on the phone tried their best but ultimately weren’t very helpful.

Great food but slow delivery. 20 mins late (so far) on what was already a 1 hr delivery time.

The crispy shredded beef was crispy and shredded but seemed to barely contain any beef within the batter.

Delivery estimate was 45-60 at order time. On confirmation of order it estimated 1 hour and 13 minutes. Food arrived 23 mins later- superb!!

I absolutely love the food from here. They popped in a few extra spring rolls which was a lovely treat. I would eat this every Saturday if I could!

Honey ribs were nice. But the rice was all in clumps and the chicken curry extremely watery .. not great so dissapointed 😫. Plus side. Free prawn crackers and mini spring rolls.

The meal was missing a dish. Restaurant refused to deliver as they were busy and stated they would arrange a refund. It's been 10 days and still no refund. Customer service was non existent. Pity As food was really good

Booked food at 745 - estimated delivery time was 9:05 and it turned up at 950 So over a two hour wait and 45 minutes later than the time we were initially given ! So frustrating! We aren’t even However the food was hot, fresh but we aren’t even hungry now -the waiting time is a joke!
