Hong Kong Takeaway in Southend-on-Sea

Thought we would try our local Chinese after years of orders around the area. We were very disappointed. The entire meal was greasy. The chicken balls were soft and lifeless. We ordered Singapore noodles (option to have noodle or vermicelli) when it arrived it was vermicelli so why have an option if you don’t listen?. The spring roll was swimming with grease. Even the prawn crackers (all 8 of them!) were greasy. Overall this made for a poor Chinese meal and on that basis we won’t be going again. A real shame.

Glad to see Hong Kong has re opened this week. Had a takeout last night which arrived quickly after ordering and was delicious.

The owners will go above and beyond for their customers, even trying to buy a birthday cake as they were aware it was my daughters birthday! The food is very tasty. Will not get my Chinese takeaway from anywhere else.

We’ve been using Hong Kong Chinese takeaway for a few years and have been consistently excellent, we have tried other Chinese food locally but have never matched for quality & price. Would definitely recommend giving it a try.

I order from here regularly and it is great every time... don't know about these other reviews. Delivery is always super quick too. I highly reccomend.

Sadly it has really gone downhill since it changed hands. It *was* for me the best Chinese in Southchurch. I hope they improve but not willing to spend any more cash to find out if they do.

We had a takeaway Sunday night and it was awful. We had duck and it wasn’t great and the plum sauce was black and thick as tar , sweet and sour was awful and tasted weird and another dish which the chef recommended was disgusting. Never go there again. Sorry

This in my opinion is the best Chinese takeaway around the area it never lets me down and food is always delicious

Love this takeaway, Sam is always friendly, the food is great especially the Chicken Curry with egg fried rice. We love the lunch menu, which is great for a treat when off work

Ordered Peking duck and king prawn noodles. Absolutely delicious. Hot crispy duck and the noodles were a delight. Highly recommend the food and service here.

By far the best Chinese takeaway in Leigh on Sea great staff very friendly and the food is cooked fresh (not re heated like some). Always great food and good prices

This has been my local for 30 years and its fantastic. All the usual stuff and served by friendly helpfull staff.

El propietario es muy amable y hablador. La comida era buena, pero había grandes rebanadas de jengibre en el cerdo con jengibre y chalotas. Fue estupendo si te gusta el jengibre. No podría haber plátano buñuelos de plátano - me dijeron que maduran demasiado rápido para mantener a muchos en stock. No había mesas para comer. Los precios eran típicos.

Lovely food, friendly staff and very fast delivery. We have used Hong Kong for a number of years and we love the food here more expensive but really lovely. Def recommend.

Good quality food. Very tasty and good wide range of menu. Very prompt delivery service and would use them again.

On two occasions this takeaway have taken over double the stated time to provide meals for collection. On the phone their default response is 15-20 minutes. However on recent visits I have been left waiting for 40+minutes with no reason. Today I even saw a delivery driver collect his order and return for the next one! Gave them a chance...thought it was a mistake...won't be going back again.

Superb take away only Chinese food.Always good quality and good portion size.I have been using this take away for 25 years and it's always maintained the same high standard and the owners are very friendly.

I have used this takeaway several times now and always find the food good, served quickly and always hot even if I collect myself or have it delivered. This takeaway has been around for a few decades now and that fact should speak for itself. Definitely the best chinese chicken curry in the area

I have tried most of the Chinese takeaways in the Leigh area and the Hong Kong is by far the best. The duck dishes are yummy.

Have tried a number of Chinese takeaways in the area most of which I have found to be quite poor. The food from here is definetely the best takeout Chinese I have found so far in the vacinity.

We stumbled upon this place quite by accident, when we were visiting family in the area, and actually were going for a Wimpy nearby, only to find that it was closed.We have tried so many Chinese take aways, which the food is often greasy and not very nice, but we were very surprised by the Honk Kong take away.We ordered sweet and sour chicken, Singapore noodles, chicken chowmein and special friend rice. This was all lovely, packed full of flavour, piping hot, and not greasy at all!!The other thing is that whilst it's not cheap, it's not expensive too, so give this takeaway a try as it's rather very good!
