This is no longer the Hong Kong Restaurant and is now called the Bamboo House, so I assume it is under new ownership and management. In the past as the Hong Kong, it appears it did not have a good reputation, hence the three star rating. Today we had a party of 12 visit the restaurant, since it’s one of the few that open on Saturday lunch time. Each person had their own menu item and they were all dished out at almost the same time, with little waiting time. The food was excellent and the portions were very generous. The service was efficient, discreet, courteous, and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. I do not usually write reviews but the experience here was, to me, exceptional. It is a shame they have not registered their name change with trip advisor, and become weighed down by the Three stars of the Hong Kong I thoroughly recommend giving this new restaurant a try

We had ordered a takeaway from here before and had no complaints. But this time the food wasn’t up to standard as our last takeaway. The lady on the phone was pleasant taking our order but when it came to paying she said we don’t accept credit card payments, only cash. I paid by credit card last time and luckily I did have cash on me. But they should’ve specified cash only before ordering. Their website wasn’t working otherwise would have ordered online. The food was different and we ordered the same food. It didn’t taste the same it was just ok. Delivery was on time and food was hot. I thought it was very good the first time so a bit disappointed.

Ordered a takeaway of rice, duck and seaweed. Rice and seaweed were fine but the pancakes that came with the duck were stuck together and hard, almost like cardboard so couldn’t have the duck in pancakes as preferred and instead had to mix with the rice and seaweed. With only 3 dishes ordered I would expect much better! I’ve given this restaurant too many chances so will go elsewhere in future.

A BIG shout out to THE HONG KONG CHINESE RESTAURANT in St Neots! I booked for a group of 16 of us to go for a meal together on Thursday 18th June, which comprised of 3 Vegetarians, 2 Vegans & 11 meat eaters. We had their “Eat All You Want Buffet” for £22-80 per/person. They kindly organised in advance for us to have “The Mixed Starter” initially, doing separate dishes to accommodate the vegetarians & vegans separate to the meat eaters. We were also able to order additional dishes to our mixed starters + for an additional charge of £1 per person we could have the Crispy Peking Duck, which was delicious. After we had our full of the starters, they brought out our individual choices for our Main Course, which we had ordered when we arrived & again we could order additional food if we so chose whilst eating. All in all, everyone in our group had a lovely time, thoroughly enjoyed all our food & came away with full tummies! One lady in our group has already decided to go back there to celebrate her wedding anniversary in September, because she enjoyed it so much. WELL DONE THE HONG KONG CHINESE RESTAURANT you did us proud!

The host was very friendly, all the food was very good, I ordered crispy chilli beef, which is my benchmark dish to test a Chinese restaurant. It was nice and crispy and delicious 👍. There was a good atmosphere even though we were there early evening.

I came as a solo customer , the restaurant was reasonably quiet for a Saturday night but the staff were efficient and helpful. The food was piping hot and of a good standard. Only complaint, I like to order from set meals and they don’t offer this service for eat in customers only take aways. Otherwise a good meal

The REALLY bad: Salt & pepper fried chicken (spicy) - it just wasn't anything, neither salt, pepper, or spicy. Didn't really taste of anything. Beef with peppers in black bean sauce - beef was kinda grey, the black bean sauce was so watered down to be tasteless and only the odd black bean gave truth to the name. Egg fried rice - can't really do much to ruin this. Chips - these were nice and hot The OK: Duck - the wife and step daughter had duck and were happy it came shredded, and came with 10 pancakes and plenty of accompaniments Our usual Chinese place isn't open on Monday - I'll never make the mistake of using this one again.

Absolutely, without a doubt - the WORST Chinese takeaway I've ever had... 'Crispy' S&P Tofu was spongey, greasey filled crap without any flavour whatsoever. Salt & Pepper chips, how on earth can you manage to serve them undercooked and hard, yet soggy at the same time? Zero flavour and went in the bin. This restaurant needs to be taken over, it is a complete disgrace

Rude over the phone told me I lied about the order. Didn’t give the right food and refused to replace the mistakes and what was missing despite fully charging me for the order

Collected take away, got home and realised The main dish was missing. Said they would deliver, then 15 mins later they rang me back saying they couldn’t deliver it, with some Feeble excuse, ended up getting a refund over the phone, but won’t be getting from there again. Wasn’t the tastiest anyway

I ordered a delivery and was told that it would arrive within 50 minutes. But, after chasing it and getting no apology, it took 75 mins. Then when the driver arrived he didn't have sufficient change so took the food back to his car to find change, causing even more delay! Then, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, the "crispy chilli beef" was NOT crispy as it was drenched in sauce & thus very sticky! The worst Chinese food experience I've ever had. Avoid!

Went for our first visit on Saturday night. Had the eat as much as you like for £19.80. Poor service. Had to ask twice for first drink. Starter plate was dirty. Had to pay an extra £1.00 each for the crispy duck. Cold pancakes, very little duck which could nave been anything.4 bits of cucumber and spring onion. Ribs were 1cm long. Seaweed greasy. Prawn bites, were deepfried greasy crisps. Asked for a second starter plate which never came, so used the one the pancake box was on. Asked for more drinks and had to ask for empty glasses to be taken away. In our opinion dont bother. Go to Tescos and get a take away.

5 of us enjoyed a fabulous feast. They call it a BUFFET but basically you order from the menu as often as you like for a fixed price. Service was A1 and we had a great time.

We had a lovely meal here last Saturday evening with family. The food was delicious and the service was brilliant. They made a special effort with our son who is quite fussy. We can’t wait to come back again.

To be fair, most of the food was okay but the main dish of aromatic duck didn't come with shredded vegetables or Hoi sin sauce which made it pretty inedible with the pancakes.

Awful food. No atmosphere we were the only customers.Shame. visited some time ago and food was really good. Won tons had nothing inside just fried filo pastry. Crispy prawns had no prawn inside that we could see am sure they were not freshly made had the feeling they were bought in frozen! Curtains were closed giving it a dark feel inside. No music. Heating was on so warm. Service was with a smile but food so bad will probably not return.

Come for the takeaway and the restaurant quite often, welcomed with freindly staff and the food is amazing, will be coming back!

Went here tonight with friends. The room was cold and the heating was not switched on until we’d been there an hour! The buffet was reasonable but there were no hot plates on the tables so the food cooled too quickly. My friends chow mein was luke warm and greasy. The pot of Chinese tea was not refilled as is traditional. Finally they imposed a compulsory 10% service charge when we didn’t actually get much service! Very disappointed - won’t be going again!

This restaurant hold some special memories I have had some great nights here, Probably because I have found some new favourites in town. I had heard it had changed hands at some point. So when my daughter, who loves all you can eat buffets' decided to come home for Mums' Birthday we decide to give this a go. I had read the reviews, but was still optimistic. So Here goes.

We came on a Tuesday evening for the buffet menu and were the only people in the restaurant. Considering this, the service was a little slow. The buffet menu was very limited compared to other places I’ve been, with an extra £1 charge each for duck. This would have been acceptable if there was a reasonable amount of duck but there was only enough for two pancakes each - probably less than a quarter duck, and then we were charged the £1 again for another portion. There were also other extra charges which we avoided but were pointed out by the staff. The food couldn’t be faulted, it was very tasty, hot, and prompt. This would be a fantastic place if the buffet menu was more extensive, but the limited starters (around ten options, all quite generic) and the extra charges let it down a little, meaning a meal for three with one bottle of wine ended up nearing £100. Would possibly return but not for the buffet, not really worth the money!

Went for a meal as two couples and managed to order twice from the buffet menu in two and a half hours. When the first order came, it was incorrect and the items just looked like they were swimming in grease. It took about 30 minutes for this to get rectified as the poor server seemed to be on his own (no problems with the waiter).

This was our second visit to the Hong Kong. The food is of a high quality and the staff can not do enough for customers. The "Eat as much as you like / buffet" option is good value although they do add on £1 extra for some dishes including the crispy duck!

I'm not one for writing reviews either one way or the other, but feel compelled to do so on this occasion...Firstly let me say i am local and have used this restaurant for some 40 years through varying ownership. i have to say in fairness the quality of the food is pretty good although the pricing has increased and the portions diminished (more on that shortly). However on Saturday myself my wife and my son and his partner decided we'd have a well earned night out...we chose the buffet as we have before on numerous occasions for birthdays etc and often in a party of up to ten people.

I walked into this restaurant with zeal and impetus from a great summers afternoon. Walking out this place , I sank to the deep depths of the ocean; I swore I just seen Davey Jones locker on the sea bed. The service is comparable to that seen at a prisoner of war camp, or something endured by Fitzroy Mclaine in eastern approaches galavanting across the Gobi desert. Additionally, the draconian post world war rationing of potions and questioning your intellect and the ability to order adequate food to service your carnivorous appetite. After guilting them into providing my final dish, the only saving grace was that the food was actually ok. A great place for onion lovers ! Wow , will never come back, maybe stick to custard creams.

We could not select from the main courses and wanted to try more so we chose the buffet. A good choice as you could taste a bit and order more of you wanted. Everything was tasteful and not greasy. For sure a recommendation.

Had a meal here on Friday with my husband and 4 year old daughter they asked to measure her and said she was under 1.2 metres apparently if she was slightly taller they would have to charge her an adult price (any child that is over 1.2 metres doesn’t recieve a child price )

I have dined at the Hong Kong many times over the years and always have a lovely meal. The buffet menu is around £18 pp to eat as much as you like. We are quite often here as a large family group and enjoy sharing the crispy duck the starter platter. I wouldn't say it's the most luxurious restaurant, but definitely my favourite for price and a friendly service.

We visited this restaurant on Monday 5 June 2018 on a stop over from North Yorkshire to West Sussex. Although not a lot of customers because it was a Monday evening, we were warmly welcomed by Lin who served us and was able to have a long chat about the restaurant and the menu. We opted for the Buffet Menu ; the number of dishes and choice of which was extensive; we were very surprised that you could order as many dishes as you liked from both the Starter and Main courses on offer. The food was excellent, really well cooked, presented and flavoursome. Compliments to the chef and all in the kitchen! The Buffet menu was very good value for money. If we are ever in the St Neots area again we will certainly make another visit. We would certainly recommend trying the Hong Kong restaurant.

We went for lunch yesterday and were the only six people in the restaurant. I asked the owner why they were so quiet and she told me they had only recently started opening at lunchtime. So not a comment on the food!

All of the food we've had here has been great, especially all of the prawn dishes. The service has always been fast. An easy choice for a relaxed night out.

Hong Kong restaurant has an extensive menu with great food. I have not yet eaten in the restaurant, but have used the take-out and delivery services. Food has always been plentiful, excellent and deliveries very liable. Will continue to use!!

All you can eat if you don’t mind waiting. Actually only 1 staff member serving with only 3 tables at the most. Slowest service. 3 hours with no dessert or coffees.

Esta vez otro artículo que falta, nos llevó como una hora para que llegara y las dos veces que habíamos terminado nuestra comida por el tiempo llegó y arruinó la noche para nosotros. El conductor entrega nunca se disculpó por los problemas y, de hecho, la primera vez que dejó el tema en nuestra terraza y toqué el timbre y corrimos lejos! ! ¡Increíble! !

Después de probar 4 comidas pequeñas con 2 arroz cuando intentamos pedir más, nos dijeron que el buffet había terminado! Lo que una estafa. Necesitan que la gente debe saber que el buffet se detiene en 10, independientemente de la hora a la que apareció. Nos supondrá como optamos por el menú buffet en 9 que este sería un honor para mí. He usado este restaurante en diversas formas en los últimos 35 años y siempre ha sido satisfecho. Pero por desgracia ha llegado a un triste final esta noche y no volveré. Otros cuidado! ! ! !

La comida era fantástica y el buffet era excelente relación calidad-precio. Me encantó especialmente la carne en salsa de frijol negro, probablemente el mejor que he tenido! El personal era amable. Oficialmente mi favorito restaurante chino local.

The three waiters that work there, 2 lady's and 1 man are very kind and helpful and provide very good service. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

El personal es muy servicial nos permite a principios para decorar la mesa y platos siempre agradable y servicial.

Un domingo por la noche en noviembre parecía que no había mucha variedad de restaurantes, así que elegimos el Hong Kong China - que estaba vacía. El personal era muy servicial y educado, así que para empezar, teníamos dos vasos de vino con miel costillas de Beijing y costillas, ambos excelentes. Carne con Verduras al lado vino chino, que era más vegetales que carne y gambas king Szechuan, que chisporrotean de nuevo había masas de cebolla casi cruda y sólo seis langostinos que nos pareció muy mezquino. El plato de verduras mezcladas con ajo no fue totalmente necesario tenía que ser consciente de la cantidad de verduras con los demás platos y no había nada especial sobre el arroz frito especial!

I went here for a meal Friday night for a friends Hen Do. It had been booked for a few weeks so they were fully aware of the big table booked in... Long story short, after 20 minutes of being there we had to ask them if they could take a drink order. They eventually did and 45 mins into the evening we got our drink! By this time we asked them if we could order as nobody had been to our table still. We all decided to choose from the 'all you can eat menu' so gave them our orders for starters (they didnt at this time let us order mains!) so we waited and by this time we had been there 1 and a half hours!!! Our came 1 portion of duck an pancakes on 1 plate for all 15 of us to share as they were 'Busy with the takeaway so we would have to wait until they could cook the next lot' Then out came a few sharing platters (none of which was ordered as we all chose certain dishes from the menu!!) After complaining numerous times about this and waiting nearly 2 hours for our starter we all decided we were not going to wait for our main and one of the party members requested to see the manager 4 or more times before he eventually came out and asked if it was a birthday party we were having and that he is sorry but he only has 3 staff and the takeaway side to sort as well! We were all completely disgusted and shocked that a restaurant could treat their customers this way and it had been booked in for over 2 weeks so they were fully aware it would be busy! DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE GOING HERE AGAIN !!!!!!

I visited the restaurant quite a few times and last weekend we were in the " I cant be bothered to cook " mood. so we ordered a takeway from Hong Kong - I had the Red Thai Duck curry which was delicious !! My wife has the chicken curry and we both shared an egg fried rice and plain chow mein.Overall the restaurant hasnt ever let me down and I do like the food

Unscheduled visit. Marie and I Didn't book and turned up to be told they had a very large party of Rugby people from Bermuda in their upstairs room. No problem though as we was welcomed and received the best of food, service and attention. Will definitely return.

Went here to celebrate a sons 21st birthday at his request. The food was excellent and very good value, although the beer was pricey. Service was average and one waitress had definite language problems and didn't understand half what we asked.

Just had the dinner with my family, recommend u all go there to have the fantastic family or friends dinner!!! We were 9 ppl together and the place is big enough for us. They have a new menu for our@ to choice which is you spend 16.80 pounds then you can eat as much as you can, this menu just so great!!! I love the service and food they provided, cuz I don't have to wait a long time to get my dream dish and they have the best service I have never see befor，the place are tidy and comfortable. Looking forward to come to here again in the next week. By the way, I found the salt and paper thing is my lifecuz i can't leave it anymore!!!

After not having a take away for 2 months I decided I would treat myself to a lovely takeaway I have eaten from. Here before and had an OK meal ..to be honest the only reason is chose it was because I wanted a take out and my favourite Chinese you have to spend 20 pounds to get delivery and it was just me ..so.i ordered crispy chicken with garlic and spring onions .chips and sweet and sour soup I was horrified when I opened the bag. ..as soon as I took the lid off the soup it smelt like fish ...only to taste it also taste like it too it had no sweet flavour and some little bits of chicken at the bottom so that was straight in the bin that alone made me feel.sick .I was hopeful for my main the crispy chicken with garlic. .there was a tiny little box with a handful of what can only be described as bits of burnt chicken bone ...it had obviously been left in the feel fat dryer and forgotten about every piece was just crisp not only that but it was covered in salt no joke !!!! I couldn't even put it on my tounge it looked like a mini box of marmite twiglets thay had been dipped in sherbet. ..I honestly never moan about a meal if I'm that hungry o will eat it but honestly I don't think a dog would have been able to eat them ..so what was a lovely meal ended up being a disaster and ended up eating a few of the chips which were also cold never Again. .waste of money waste of an hour wait

Took my lady for her birthday meal, first time there. Mixed reviews so slightly apprehensive. Had their buffet menu which is new. Great choice, great food and exceptional service. Understand changed ownership about 12 months ago and they are eagerly trying to improve on the previous offer. Based upon our experience it couldn't be faulted. So perhaps best to ignore reviews over 12 months ago and give the place a try? Can only speak as we found it to be .Honestly?

We've been using this take away for years and have eaten in the restaurant a few times too. Last week we ordered Calamari followed by chicken curry and it was terrible. The curry was actually so hot it was unbearable to eat. We threw it all away and have not reordered this week. We won't be using them again.

Your drinks are over priced and card fees for visa debit isn't on and neither is £2 for delivery when other places are free or half that. We really like the food but we tend to flitter between takeaways because of this. Hope this is helpful. Compliments to the chef

Ordered a £25 meal for 2 and was still starving, food is minimal. And I'm 5'1 with a small appetite.
