Basic takeaway. Really good food and affordable too, though they have a few uninspiring and frankly bad recipes. But to each their own, someone must be buying it. Quality to price it's best Chinese in Huntingdon currently . I always make it a point to pop in when I'm there. Payment is usually cash only

Some of the best fish and chips I have ever had. Freshly cooked, golden, crispy and tasted wonderful, served by a very nice gentleman.

Used for years. Never had a problem. Staff polite. Easy to order on big foodie app for collection or delivery. Quick....

The food is always top notch and the only drawback is the cash only policy.

Just ordered special fried rice. Chicken balls sweet n sour sauce and chips. Took over an hour to be delivered, rice dish was cold and dry. Chips dehydrated like eating cardboard. And chicken balls raw doughy as batter was to thick. Some were too crispy as refried couple of time. Very disappointing 😞

I have been ordering from the golden lake for many years. I have always noticed a poor customer service but yesterday when I ordered dinner I was beyond appalled. My order arrived and I had been given the wrong food. When I called the restaurant to ask for my correct order, I was told that my food could be replaced not on the day but the next day as the driver didn’t wanna come back to my area. The worker on the phone had a very hostile attitude and it may be a while before my next order at the golden lake…

Ordered mixed vegetable curry. Consisted of mushrooms and onions in a watery brown liquid. Not a hint of curry. Rice was boiled beyond recognition. Vegetables pancakes turned out to be mini spring rolls in grease.

We tried this take away as or usual was closed and wish we hadn't. The szechuan was watery, bland and tasted more like sweet and sour, the sweet and sour was strongly pineapple flavoured and the veg woefully undercooked, the mushroom fried rice should be renamed pea fried rice and the chips were soggy, under done and tasted chemically. The black bean was the saving grace, were it not for that I'd be very hungry as well as the best part of £30 worse off. Never again, would not recommend.

Full of msg 😭 the lady couldn't even tell me what the vegetables were in some of the dishes.

This takeaway is amazing! It's much better priced than anywhere else in Huntingdon and serves amazing food. I also like the 5-star hygiene rating which gives me confidence. Amazing 🥇

AVOID!!! 2 and a half hours of waiting for delivery to be told they have delivered to the wrong address. Had to cancel.

This Chinese makes the best Hot and Sour soup around one of the best I have ever had really filling and really 🔥 hot also do very nice Salt and pepper chicken 🐔 the staff are always helpful and give good service

only excepted cash in shop/takeaway ,only one reason for that ,no tax to pay !,another non brit taking advantage ,.food was below average and minimalistic ,.very disapointyed and expensive for the size of portions .

Had a delivery from here twice and twice asked them to cook duck fat so crispy both occasions didn’t do so had to take the yuk fat off all dishes we ordered weren’t what we expected local so won’t go there again

Would not entertain dietary requirements at all! Do they even know what they are cooking with? Shame on you. Should at least know when there is gluten in your dishes or not…

Love the food but next time will order in advance as long wait. Fore armed fore warned.

The chicken was realy spicy for a child.and chicken balls like they.were.refried.

Nice food, very reasonable prices. It's a very busy takeaway especially at the weekend so you may have to wait a while even if you have ordered over the phone. Worth the wait though.

13/01/22 - Had some duck fried rice, got horrible food poisoning from it - Avoid!

Just had 2 beef curry, 1 egg fried rice and 1 portion of dehydrated chips. The sauce in the curry was runny and tasteless. The chips were inedible, burnt and dehydrated. We are very dissatisfied normally the food is great. This is the second time we have had poor meals.

I used to use this place regularly and it was great until some new staff took over. Tonight I had just driven 250 miles from North Wales and just wanted a quick meal without soya sauce, because I don't like it and also wheat gives me a bad stomach, due to an intolerance. (Having been told on a previous occasion by the young girl behind the counter, that people with allergies were banned, obviously I could not mention that part. ) I was told I would have to come back 3 hours later if I wanted a meal without soya sauce because there was a queue! I live ten miles away from there, so this was clearly a ridiculous suggestion. Reading the other reviews, clearly this allergy ban was brought into force because someone dared to order a meal without mushrooms. Formerly the best in Huntingdon, now an insulting, exasperating farce. Never again will I set foot in there.

Since being taken over it has been very up and down. Most recently the food has been bland, sloppy and watered down. If you have a dry dish like chow mein and egg fried rice was ok. I also had pancake rolls which were greasy, bland and therefore soggy. The crispy shredded chilli chicken was coated in a sloppy wet batter - it wasn’t crispy at all, the sauce didn’t taste of anything and was very watery, so was the sweet and sour sauce. You certainly get a lot but a lot of bland, sloppy food, which is therefore overpriced. Sadly I will not be using this take away again.

Ate at the Golden Chippy next to the Chinese, really good value! Fed the family for £20 Fish was nice and clean not greasy and the batter was crispy. The curry sauce is the best around Worth trying 👌

Ordered at 5pm, multiple phone calls, still not here over 90 minutes later. Won't be using again.

Have usually had good service from here but tonight was a disaster. Pre-ordered this morning for delivery at 7pm, as I knew it would be busy this evening. Arrived 45 minutes late, with no update or apology; the phone was constantly engaged; and there were items missing from the order.

Ordered just under £100 worth for our family , they forgot some of the order, when i rang up they said if i want the missing items it would be about 50 mins, i agreed and asked for some freebies 😚an hour or so later they finaly turned up,no freebies

Disgusting service!! Ordered at 6.40pm and was told it would take 1 1/2 hours. After 2 hours I called back to ask where our delivery was, was told it hadn’t left yet (probably forgot) and wold be here in 5 minutes. In total took about 2.20hrs. Didn’t even offer a discount, unacceptable 😡

Had a Chinese take away from here many times but have not ordered from here for a while as they don't give a toss about the customers only sales. We decided yesterday to do a big order as the food is normally good (when they get it right) and went through the order carefully with the person on the phone stating we do not want any mushrooms because 1 of us is allergic to them and that we wanted items as described on their menu which they gave us just 2 months ago (new menu). We had totaled up the cost and when ordering we asked how much the total was and they had added almost £20 on top of the order which we argued and went through the items and their prices and we were correct but then they tried to charge delivery (even tho they have free delivery if ordering over £30) which we would not pay as ordered over £30. When the order came we went throu checking it and they had fully loaded the main item we asked for NO mushrooms with mushrooms and they had messed up most of the order, but when we rang them to explain they had messed up the order all we received was abuse down the phone saying we never said anything about the order. So we have decide to to using them and now will go elsewhere. They really do need to learn customer service

This place used to do the best Chinese but since it has been under new management the food isn’t as good: portion sizes are smaller, prices have been increased, always running late on orders and delivery times are ridiculous. The food I found is bland and my order wasn’t quite right last time (minor mistake) I think it’s time to find a new Chinese take away. Such a shame as it was amazing before!

Ordered a takeaway tonight at 5pm. Said would be 45 mins. Spot on with delivery. This has to be the best takeaway I've ever tasted. Meal for 3 was only £24 delivered. Well done I will definitely be ordering again. Great food and brilliant service. Thank you

Just had a beef in black bean and had about a quarter of a tub of raw onion. Didn't pay for beef and onion and now going to chuck onion in the bin which is a waste of money. Went again on3/5/2019. Had beef and mushrooms but stated no bamboo shoots or water chestnuts. Got home and took it out of bag to find it full of bamboo shoots. Called and they said they were sorry and would give it free next time. That isn't really good enough should be correct first time with simple instructions!

Having moved to the area 9 months ago as a family we have tried various establishments and Golden Lake is definitely the best we've found. Great food, clean shop, polite staff and takes credit/debit card. Prices are also very reasonable compared to other local eateries, 100% recommend.

We have used a few of the local takeaways in Huntingdon over the years and some are definitely to be avoided. We used to go in to town and pick up a takeaway, but thought we would give the Golden Lake a try a few months ago, after not using it for a few years. We are pleased we did as the food and service is great and prices are very reasonable. We have tried a few of the dishes and they have all been tasty, freshly cooked and very hot. If you want one of the dishes not so spicy, they will oblige. It's now our favourite Chinese takeaway in Huntingdon, give it a try yourself.

Food was disgusting. Had a couple mouthfuls and had to throw the rest away. Ribs were battered with no meat. the chilli beef looked infected. The most disappointed I've ever been from a meal. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! HORRIFIC FOOD! TERRIBLE SERVICE!

rubish food chiken wings looked old tasted like it was old it was just disgusting. Deep fried shreded chiken also rubish way too much vinegar. Other dishes was rubish too. food has no quality. 25£ was thrown to the bin. Bought first and last time.

the food was a poling, stale chewy absolutely nothing to do with good or mediocre food the sweet and sower souce was just plain vinegar chiken smelled like it's a week old absolutely disgusting.. I highly recommend that nobody goes there rant over 30 quid down the toilet..

Missed a dish from order took them 40mins to get missed dish out then said they would do better next time. She then told us there was only 1 driver and 2 different drivers had delivered 1 with main order then the other with the missed dish.

Absolute rubbish, just ordered a meal to be delivered, it arrived over an hour late and two items that were paid for were missing totaly ruining our meal, will never use this place again!

The food is quite something, delicious, delectable and always on time. The authentic taste and fast delivery keep me comming back for more... My favourite is a Sharon special, a szhechaun dish everyone should try atleast once.

Very disappointed tonight. We have been using the Golden Lake for many years but have moved house this weekend and needed food. We ordered on line and the order was accepted. We paid for delivery which we have never had to do before. When the food arrived the driver told us he has been told to tell us not to order from them again as they will not deliver here and do not deliver to this area??!! They are listed on the "Big foodie" app for this area. Very annoyed. If we weren't so hungry they would have been taking tonight's food back with them too. Time to look for a new Chinese then!

Order food here tonite it was cold wen it got to me and i would neva order from der again the chips were awful so bad the kids wudnt eat dem and the rest of the food wasnt much better very dissppointed to say the least

Twice heated food (not tasty), which for me can not make more than 2 stars, but the idea is good. Sauce was delicious. Second place where meat is reheated in Huntingdon.
