Perfect location by river & lovely inside, but prices are astronomical for everything. Ruined our planned lunch as not prepared to pay £7-8 for a simple sandwich. Will not return!

Food was absolutely fabulous! We had the char sui bun and chicken and smoked bacon roll. They were both freshly made and tasted divine. We also had the coffee and walnut cake and the burnt cheesecake. Both so light and tasty. Would highly recommend Honeys. We’ll be back again soon!

A little disappointed with the sourdough mozzarella and mushroom toasted sandwich. It also looks bigger in the photo than it actually was. I feel I paid £6.50 for half a toastie judging by the size of the hole in the other half of it. Two bites and it was gone. Perhaps they could have used another slice without a hole in. My friend’s was ok. I know sourdough bread has holes but seriously. The owner waitress seemed very abrupt and mardy for a customer facing role too. Presume that’s just her manner. No smiles. You also have to order a minimum of £12 to pay by card. Generally a nice ambience, seems a place for mums with children/babies to congregate.

Not impressed with the service or food. Waited over 20 minutes to be served when waiters were just stood around talking. Also the Asian Lady made eye contact with me twice during this wait and still didn’t serve us. The hot drinks were way too hot, a latte shouldn’t be that hot. And also no caramel in the latte and the hot chocolate was ridiculously sweet. No exaggeration. Ordered Bang Bang Chicken and Char Sui Brioche Sandwich. Don’t quite know what I was expecting but it wasn’t good just very slapped together chicken had too much ginger and the Char Sui was a bit of a mess, don’t know how else to describe it. Just not good or tasty. Lunch menu was a bit bizarre and quite limited. Just a sandwich, vegie soup or scrambled egg meals. Such a shame because setting was lovely. Didn’t even have the energy to complain after waiting so long to be served and then waiting to pay. Don’t know if they we’re discriminating against us because we were from Liverpool as other people around were served quick and asked if their meal was ok. But for some reason not us…

Honeys is our local cafe, and my wife and I are actually really proud to live by such a lovely cafe. Some of the reviews I have read about honeys are outrageous - customers complaining about not being shown to a table. Are they aware this is a cafe; you wouldn’t go into Starbucks and expect someone to show you to a table. In addition, we have a toddler and have been many times to eat or have a drink in and have always had a really nice experience. We’ve never felt like our little boys noise was causing a nuisance and have also felt welcomed by the staff. Food and drinks are lovely, reasonably priced and the cafe is in a brilliant spot.

Unfortunately I was made to feel like a terrible mum on my recent visit to Honeys Bakery with family. It was our first venture out with our two children, a newborn and nearly 16 month old. I’m not able to give a review of the food as unfortunately I was told to keep my little boy quiet as our food was being served so spent the rest of the time there distracting him with anything I could to not have him trying to talk or laugh. I understand that people don’t like listening to babies/toddlers making noise however I think the reply to the review below this one saying that they were struggling to take orders over my little ones noise is a little excessive. Also in a reply to the below review you say you have children who were noisy but not in public, how do you keep a 16 month old who doesn’t understand what things mean quiet? I feel this comment is implying that I’m not a good parent as I can’t keep my toddler quiet in public places. It has really knocked my confidence and has completely put me off taking my two little ones out for food again. It could have been approached it a complete different way.. in a reply to the below review you state how you often take toddlers around the cafe and make a fuss of them but none of that was tried with my little boy. Does this mean regular customers are treated differently to new customers? Maybe a quiet word or being asked if we would have minded changing tables to one outside where he could have been away from people would have been a better way to handle it rather than shaming an already struggling mum. Maybe letting parents know on their way in that children are not to make any noise while at Honeys Bakery would be better as we would have known to leave then.

My family including my 15 month old grandson visited today . Breakfast was lovely . Gentleman who took our order was pleasant and welcoming , but the woman who brought our food to the table upset my daughter because she didn't want my grandson making a noise . He wasn't crying or shouting because he can't talk yet . He was sat in a highchair doing what toddlers normally do . Do you realize the effect that your comment had on my daughter and her partner. Honey's Bakery & Riverside Cafe Caergwrle Huge disappointment 883596262 We used to enjoy going to the Chinese Restaurant that the family ran in the nearby pub and were looking forward to the Thai tasting menu special. The people are lovely, but Oh what a disappointment: The soup was not Thai, just an ordinary consomme 2 wontons are not a course nor are 2 prawn and corn fritters which were poorly made but tasty So to the main courses: We were promised a fish- what came was a small dish 3-4" in diameter with a tiny amount of seabass TO SHARE-It was perfectly allright Similarly with what they called top rump- a tiny piece of meat and the curry where we at least got one small bowl each both below average After tasting the banana ice ream which had no cream but plenty of ice we had had enough but observed the sticky rice with a couple of bits of mango on top and were glad not to have waited for that. The boiled rice was fine. The quality of the food was poor, the portions tiny: this is a sampling menu not a tasting menu What a shame

I’ve been wanting to visit Honeys for years. It’s reputation had proceeded it and I’d also checked it out as I drove up and down from London. Having finally made it for lunch, I’m now annoyed with myself for not doing so sooner. It was excellent. The food while simple was first rate and the home made produce spoke for itself. I had the bang bang chicken special sandwich. Oh wow. The taste of the chicken meat with the sweet chilli sauce was just ace. As a venue its nestled delightfully next to a little bubbling river with indoor and outdoor seating options. It’s spotlessly clean and the staff exude positivity and a genuine sense of welcoming. I’ll definitely be back at the next opportunity - and hope that you’ll make the same decision too. It’s just wonderful!

Hidden off the main road many may pass Honeys without realising it even exists. It’s a lovely building situated right next to the River Alyn. There are plenty of places to sit inside and outside on the deck overlooking the Alyn. Upon arrival service was very quick and contact details + temperature checks were taken due to the current COVID guidelines. The waitresses were very friendly and polite. The three breakfasts came out fast and at the same time. While the breakfast was enjoyable the portion sizes were little small and it was only moderately warm. The only bacon rasher was very small and tough, the toast was cold. Having said this the sausages were full of flavour. In all fairness we were sitting outside so this could account for the warmth of the food. The coffee and scones were superb! The two lattes were smooth, rich and creamy. Perhaps the highlight!Honeys deserves 5 stars for service and atmosphere, 5 stars for hot beverages however 3 stars for the food.

Stopped in at Honeys on the way down to Barmouth, a short detour from the main road. I'd originally hoped to have the veggie breakfast grill, but we'd arrived too late, the happiest of accidents. Instead I ordered the scrambled eggs and avocado on brown sourdough toast. Simple, but affective, I haven't stopped thinking/talking about it since. Please can I have the recipe. We also had a slice of lemon drizzle cake, which, was absolutely banging as well being huge. The waitress was lovely, the service was quick and the price was more than reasonable. My wife and I walk here every Monday for a snack lunch or brunch. Why? Because of the extensive menu, friendly service, efficient and still-friendly service-to-table, and cold or hot food options (the latter freshly cooked-to-order). All this for prices that represent excellent value for money, within a pleasant riverside environment (ands the odd kingfisher!). Absolutely stunning venue, and food. Today we strayed into a cooked breakfast / brunch (served till mid-day, but items available afterwards). As close to perfection as it's possible to get!! Honestly!!!! Oh, by the way, you can buy home-made cakes to take home (or eat in) which are also first class!!!

I went yesterday with three others for a birthday treat to Honey's. We all had afternoon tea, two vegetarian and two non-veggie. Not being a real cake lover and having seen the ridiculous amounts served as afternoon tea in other establishments I thought there might be a lot of waste which I hate. However not only was absolutely everything we were given mouth waveringly delicious there was a perfect amount, 4 savoury items and 4 small cakes, in a lovely friendly setting. For my non-veggie tea I headman egg sandwich, a coronation chicken sandwich, a wonderful duck filed spicy samosa and a tiny cheese and tomato bruschetta. The cake course was an amazing courgette and lime cake, (just divine) and a merigue, a scone with fresh cream jam and some halved fresh strawberries, and a coconut tart again with a fresh raspberry on top. All this, plus unlimited tea for £15!! Beautiful food beautifully presented can't rate it highly enough. Thank you Honey's

Surprised to see disabled parking at the opposite end of the car park to the entrance but we were able to park nearer to the the ramp. My husband had a stroke so mobility is compromised. On enterering the cafe we did not feel welcome. We were told they close at 4pm in a curt manner and then he trundled off muttering as he went. Following our normal slow walk back to our car and ready to drive away, the time was only 3.55pm. So much for a quick coffee. My daughter and I chose hot sandwiches which were Chicken Satay and Pork Char siu and we were both disappointed. As this is supposed to be a bakery we understood the bread was supposed to be home made sourdough bread. Well the two buns we had were definitely not home made and were not even good quality shop bought and the fillings we had ordered made the bread soggy as well as tasteless. The meat was very meager, not presented in an appetizing way and was luke warm. The salad had obviously been sat there for some time, this was limp and dry, to finish the dish there were a few crisps strewn about the plate. We were given a jar of sauce, this appeared to be rose marie sauce, which certainly did not compliment the chicken or the pork, so we were not sure why this was placed on the table with our meal. The top of the jar was stoppered with a cork lid which was dirty and encrusted with old sauce. We certainly will not be visiting again, and wont be recommending this to anyone.

I visited today along with 10 other people for a celebration, we all ordered afternoon tea. All of the food was brought out and looked delicious, I have previously eaten at honey's on a number of occasions so I already knew that everything is beautifully presented. A staff member then took drink orders. I can't drink caffeine as it makes me very ill so I asked for a decaf tea, she said there wasn't any available. I asked for a decaf coffee and she said yes, I have had decaf latte on previous visits so that is what I asked for. The lady said that there isn't any latte so I would have to have an americano, I didn't want this so I said I would just have water, she then angrily told me that she would get me a latte!?! Strange as a minute before there wasn't any! A friend of mine ordered a sprite. She was served a coke and when she queried it she was told that there wasn't any sprite, when she asked for another drink the lady tutted and walked off in a temper! My poor mum was then too afraid to ask for soy milk so she drank her tea without any milk at all.

Large group of us stopped here for breakfast/brunch on Bank Holiday Monday. They had enough tables and chairs for all of us (with a fair few other customers there already). Tables inside and out, and they are expanding as well.

I come here as often as I can with my family. The food is absolutely first class and the staff are very helpful. They have been closed for building work recently but this has not altered their excellent quality of service. It’s good to see a local business thriving and serving it community

Called here today. Sat outside in the sunshine overlooking the river. Had a lovely pot of tea and Lemon drizzle cake and Black Forest cake which we shared! The cakes were beautiful, moist and light. Service was lovely. The meals that were being served looked delicious so will definitely visit again. Only downfall was the minimum spend on the card.

Cafe is open again after a break, owners had been visiting family abroad apparently. There has also been some renovating work. I was glad to find nothing had changed food and drink still excellent. Well worth a visit highly recommend.

I wonder if this place is now closed permanently? Two weeks on the trot I've turned up on a bike ride to find it closed (both during their published 'open times'), they also don't answer the phone. No good for cyclists who tend to have a lunch stop in mind for refuelling. If I ever manage to get served here I will update this review, but it's unlikely I will given I have no confidence at all in it being open.

Went for breakfast with my boyfriend yesterday and the atmosphere from the staff was awful. They were so rude and then spoken about you in their language which was uncomfortable(it felt like they were talking about us). I wanted to order a breakfast but didn’t like some things on it so asked to change it... they said no so I then ordered a children’s breakfast because I liked everything on that. They weren’t happy as obviously it was money loss for them. We waited ages for our drinks and as they arrived we had one sip and our food came. Our toast was rock hard and cold. Rest was okay, untill my boyfriend lifted his sausage up and there was a long black hair told them at the end and they said ‘thankyou for telling us’ hmmm don’t think I’ll be returning

Just been for afternoon tea which was absolutely fantastic and great value for money. We ended up taking food home as there was so much. Everything was homemade. We will definitely be back!

Called at Honey’s riverside cafe for lunch and we were not disappointed, lots of options on the menu which should cater for most tastes, we selected a sandwich roll each and were very satisfied with our choices, the coffee was very good too, lovely place in a lovely setting alongside the river.

We have visited honeys a couple of times and on both occasions the warm welcome was followed by a wonderful breakfast. Well cooked, nicely presented and reasonably priced.

What a lovely cafe on the bank of the little river Alyn. Extremely well kept and clean offering a good choice of breakfasts which are well presented and taste as well as they look. They also run their own bakery producing rather nice breads and cakes, ideal for taking home and enjoying off site.

This is a lovely cafe, beautifully decorated, with a great deck overlooking the river for nice days, plus it has the best coffee and cakes. Not a huge selection but lovely. They also have some unusual Chinese bread specialities, well worth trying as well as sandwiches, homemade soup, breakfasts, etc

Thought we’d check this place out after it had been recommended to us. Beautiful little cafe in a lovely spot. The standard of cleanliness and its decor is top notch. Even the toilets are incredibly clean.

Fabulous food, beautiful surroundings and a very warm welcome. Service with a smile no matter how busy (and it is invariably full due to the 5 star cakes and breads). Our first visit will most certainly not be our last. Best mince pies we've ever tasted too and we've tried most available!

Visited Billy Jeans with 13 other friends for my husbands birthday breakfast. Food was excellent, quick service and plenty on the plate. The staff were amazing and even put a birthday candle in his sausage and everyone joined in to sing "happy birthday".

Popped into here a week or so ago to get some food for work. Found the sandwiches to be excellent quality and really tasty. The staff were incredibly friendly. Would definitely buy from again.

Had a lovely day at the museum and decided to end the day with a coffee at ‘The Hatch.’ Had many delicious lunches here in the past. The cafe was surprisingly empty. We ordered two coffees and sat out in the garden. Every table was dirty. I cleaned one myself with wet wipes before the coffee arrived. We waited for 15 minutes. How long does it take to make two coffees? We went inside to find out what was going on. The waitresses had completely forgotten about our order! They were obviously too busy chatting to their friends to take orders or clean tables. No wonder we were the only customers. We told them so and walk out in disgust.

Very friendly staff. Visited last 4 summers. Best steak pies tasted, always brings loads home, for me, best mate and my mum. Then freeze. 35 purchased this year.
