Someone recommended this 'gem of a cafe' well had a day out and visited this place for a coffee to find it was closed on a lunchtime. Oh well a few months later decided to have another try of this place and it was closed yet again on lunchtime. well my third visit - yes I did try again and it was finally open but I was overcharged from someone else that had ordered the exact same. I overheard what I suppose was the owner running another customer down saying people in rental housing and on benefits are scum of the Earth. This made me phyically sick as I am one of those people. I shall not be visiting here again

Went for a lovely day out in lydney. Turned up to find it closed ( first time). Second time I ordered a Chocolate cake and after I left I come out with a rash after and the hospital realised it was nuts. I was also overcharged as the people behind us had the same order but payed less. Very disappointing

Wasn’t able to have lunch here as my dog, although well behaved, is a puppy. Disappointing. Left Lydney straight away and found a lovely place in Coleford who fussed my dog.

This is a little gem of a place with a great selection of home made cakes and other snacks. The carrot cake is ace and a personal favourite. Also serving good coffee. Well worth a visit and the prices are very good also.

We spent a family holiday in Gloucestershire over the half term break and had booked another local restaurant for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately we’d been let down as our booking hadn’t been taken properly however they did us a big favour as we then phoned The Red Hart who were able to accommodate 9 of us for Sunday lunch at very short notice, our ages ranging from 17 to 87! We knew the pub previously having spent several family holidays at Blaisdon Hall as kids. The staff at The Red Hart were really welcoming, it’s a great little country pub and the food was amazing. We returned for dinner a few evenings later. I would highly recommend it!

Stayed in Alvington while seeing Tom Jones in Chepstow. Lovely little pub. Classic proper pub. Vintage decor, nice and cosy. Pool table and darts board. Staff were really nice. The little restaurant is on the other side of the building so it doesn’t feel like a gastro pub. Had food there as well a couple of times. Jackson the waiter was nice and polite. Only a young lad. Hope it doesn’t change. Need more classic pubs like this. Really nice place.
