A go to restaurant when in the area. I love the cosy vibe and decor and it's always friendly service. It's not cheap but you wouldn't expect it in Bloomsbury. It's brilliant in the morning, but I love the vibe in the evening too, or for some afternoon treats. They have a lovely variety of food with influences from all over the Levant and Europe, which somehow manages to be both approachable but still show some heart and culture. Which is not always easy to find in London especially in the centre.

Great food, I recommend the sharing plate - lots of lovely things, and a good wine list. I remember when this location was a tapas restaurant and it is now considerably busier and more popular. It seems especially popular with north Americans - there were several tables of them there. As the tables are quite close together, this has the unfortunate effect of meaning you have to hear other people's conversations all the way through your meal. Americans have a tendency to talk loudly, with little regard as to whether other people around them can hear. Guess what? We don't find your stories of going to therapy or what "triggers" you to be interesting. You are not fascinating. So have a bit of respect for other paying customers and turn the volume down when the tables are close together.

Our favorite London restaurant—and that’s coming from big fans of Ottolenghi and his restaurants. This Middle Eastern spot, started by two stars of the Ottolenghi world, achieves casual elegance in every detail: the ambiance, the Bloomsbury locale, and the menu offerings are all spot-on. We especially enjoyed the mezze, handcrafted drinks, and desserts (the mains weren’t nearly so memorable). Also, if you can’t get a table here, pop across the street to Honey & Co. daily for bakery and take-away items.

I went to Honey & Co back in January, as I gathered it's a middle eastern cuisine and asked about the authenticity of this cuisine, their service is poor, the food is not well cooked. I developed good poisoning from eating here. If y'all are looking for a good middle eastern cuisine go somewhere else. So many other restaurants on this stretch like swiss butter etc. that are much better than this if you are close by

We popped by for lunch on a Friday, and were delighted to see it wasn't particularly busy. We took one of the tables outside since it was a nice enough day. The patio is very small/narrow, though, so there wasn't much "ambience" there. Two adults and two kids, not particularly hungry, and we just ordered a few things. Most things tasted really lovely, were full of flavor, and despite the prices being on the high side and the portions on the small side, we left feeling very satisfied. Peach salad was gorgeous, Lamb siniya was delicious, and the only semi-miss was the Snack plate (the tahini was absolutely luscious but there could have been a few more pickles and olives for the price!). The kids loved the lemonade, though the artistic jug it came in was a bit precarious for them to handle. Our waitress was pleasant and appropriately attentive. Overall, would definitely return if we're ever back in London, but probably not when we're quite hungry, haha!

"no, sorry" was the response. I ended up having to pop out and buy a pack of sweeteners (3 doors away). It's not on to serve coffee but have no sweeteners available - oh and three coffees got just one teaspoon between us. We didn't drink (just tap water - which was regularly refilled), shared a couple of starters between us and the bill still came to just over £60 a head.

Also you have to order sides of cracked wheat or pitta for the meatballs which they charge for on top of the £25 for three meatballs which isn't mentioned on the menu. I have been to Honey and Co a few times over the last decade and always would wax lyrical about the food, price and portion sizes. However when I went back recently with two friends, the sad lack of carb support was really disappointing. We ordered the labneh and hummus to share for starters, as the mezze starters were always my favourite. However the large pile of hummus (£11.50) came with just one pitta cut in half. One pitta between three people for a huge amount of hummus. The large pile of labneh (£14.50) came with three tiny crackers. One, little 3" by 1.5" cracker per person. We asked for more bread to transport the dips and were given just one more pitta for an extra £2. Two pounds for one pitta bread! I then ordered the meatballs for a main course and anticipated it might come with something to soak up the vast amount of sauce, but no. Just three meatballs and two slices of quince floating in a vat of sauce (£25). I would have asked for yet more bread but, fearing bankruptcy and the ire of the waitress I thought I would just sip my sauce and wait until I got home to eat some carbs. Honey and Co used to be all about sharing but why serve such massive amounts of dips and sauce with just a morsel of bread between a party to try to divide up fairly? I left still feeling hungry and for the HUGE prices, very disappointed. Wish it was like the old days, I used to love it, but I won't be going back.

Look - the food, service, ambience all great. Can’t complain there. But I have to make a plea for bread. If you provide dips for £12/13 each, I expect them to come with a few slices of bread. Something to dip into your dip, maybe. But no, unfortunately not. We ordered the Labneh and the Hummus dips as starters. The labneh came with 3 tiny crackers and the hummus came with 1 small pita. We were a party of 3. This minuscule number of dipping implements was clearly not going to work for the mountain of dip. So we asked for more pita and were given 1 more slice - at the cost of £2. TWO POUNDS PER PITA. For a place that offers dips as a sharing platter, it feels like you’re ripping customers off by not even giving people a slice of pita each. Loved the rest of the meal, but felt hard done by here. Hungry diners be warned. Bring back bread!!

General: First, get your expectations straight - despite the (slightly) higher prices, this is not a fancy restaurant. This is a beautiful mix of a cafe and a deli with incredible middle-eastern food. Think of it as of an upscaled deli. If Nopi is a "special occasion experience", this is a "once-a-month treat". Food: Everything is tasty and loaded with tahini, which I absolutely adored. Flavours and seasonings are spot on. In terms of starters falafels and poached pears are a must, and for mains Madfunia was a very pleasant surprise - a tasty, flavorful chicken dish - I loved it. Edit (6 years and many visits later): everything above still stands roughly. The menu changed slightly, but the set menu is an incredible value still!

Restaurant has full view of an exceptional bar! Lovely low level lighting makes this a nice setting for a couples dinner. We ordered the Burrata with Basil Sorbet and tempura baby squid for starters.
