Rude and sarcastic staff. Ordered a Tuna melt which was obviously burnt and was rock hard so we returned it . A woman( dark hair in a bun) came up to us and took our numbered spoons away and said ...." did you return food.?" We said yes as it was burnt. She scowled and walked away. A grey/ blond haired lady came to us with sandwhich about ten minutes later.....scowling woman carried on scowling. She said " Did you return a sandwich because it was burnt? " and plonked it down...." is that all right for you ?" With a sarcastic smile I dont write negative reviews very often if you read my other reviews but these people compelled me to do so as they were so rude !

Visited with family and visited home farm restaurant. Staff were incredibly rude and sarcastic. Food came and was burnt so asked for it to be redone, took over 10 mins for food to come back to table, and staff member was very sarcastic and stated 'the 1st one was burnt, is this more to your liking and standard?!'. Would not visit here again due to the actions and attitude of staff.

No scouse on the menu no pan haggety usually on the menu summer or not these northern dishes should be on the menu. It’s what people want comfort food to sit and enjoy. Our relatives from America went there especially for the old style traditional food. Soup and panini which you get anywhere a tiny slither of brownie not worth the money. The gift shop is closed now there is only a second hand book shop there so dis appointed. The staff a credit to the place volunteers so helpful lovely grounds and house no concessions. I felt really deflated about what was on offer will take our own picnic if we go again.

From delicious looking cakes to hot meals the restaurant uses locally sourced produce wherever possible; some coming from the Hall's own kitchen garden. The menu features Liverpool specialities such as scouse and wet nellies (ask the staff if you are not sure). We would have awarded five stars except for the fact that the place is a little crowded, with little space between tables making for an uncomfortable feeling, especially with push chairs or wheelchairs. A plus point; which is often a criticism with other similar establishments. Vacated tables were quickly cleared and wiped over. Friendly staff, good food and realistic prices. Oh yes, - and the coffee was good as well.

Even though we didn't have it, the scouse and red cabbage looked delicious. We ate ham and cheese panini and jacket potato with cheese and salad.

Five of us, including my two year old grandson went here for lunch. Although it was 12:30 there was room for us plus a pushchair. I had to have the Liverpool scouser which was well-made and delicious. The dishes that the rest of the family had were all good as well. After eating we went on one of the walks. I happily recommend the Speke Hall Estate and restaurant.

Can be quite chaotic on busy days, like school holidays etc. There is room for improvement in the way customers are served. A separate queue for drinks only, would be good and an improved service on the food counter. All the staff are very friendly, the food we tasted was of very good quality, but £4 for one pot of tea for two, just over a cup each, is quite expensive. There is nowhere else to eat when visiting Speke Hall, although there is Tea Room on route to the House / Hall.

Actually very nice with a good area outside as well. I don’t mind paying for things but when they are not value for money I do, a small pot of tea for 2 is £4, one cup each, expensive and not value for money at all, everything else however wasn’t badly priced and of good quality. Very friendly staff!

We visited Speke hall today. We knew the house was closed but after a stroll around decided to have lunch in the Home Farm restaurant. Local specialities scouse and pan hagerty were not available. There were a few pre-wrapped rolls and sandwiches on display. We chose a roll and a sandwich costing over £8 Both were disappointing. The bread was dry and the fillings were lacking. I can only assume that because the house is closed they are not making much effort on a Monday. Lets hope things are better on days the house is open

Always found Speke Hall (National Trust) great value for money. Having now tried the restraunt, it gets better. Where else can you get such excellent food at a very low price. The staff are great, nothing is too much trouble.

Complimentary coffee biscuits only 'allowed' with 'posh' coffee e.g., cappucino/latte ect. Suggest you insist, as I did, a large coffee warrants a complimentary biscuit! (I got one, eventually). Good food at fair prices.

My friend went to get a pot of tea and some scones for us, we were eating outside due to the nice weather. 25 minutes later he emerged with said refreshments. The tea was fine, but the scones were reasonably overcooked and hard and nowhere near as nice as those we had the previous day at a Nuclear Bunker Café!!- not worth the waiting time really.

Speke Hall has developed a lot over the last few years and this café is simply not big enough to cope with the number of visitors at peak times. By the time I had queued to order my food, paid for it and juggled with the trays back to my table I was completely stressed. I'm amazed that I didn't see at least one tray dropped on someone's head whilst I was in there!! The tables are packed in so close that it's impossible to stand up or sit down without moving someone. That said, the staff are lovely and very helpful, even offering to help me transfer my food to my table when they were clearly rushed off their feet. Food was good but over priced as per all NT properties. There's some outdoor seating which would be preferable, weather permitting.

One of the best NT restaurants we have been to ....... fresh local dishes and great coffee ........ if its just a quick desert or cake then go for the legendary "Wet Nellie" fantastic ....... but the tip is just buy one and share it between two. Also the restaurant stops serving its hot lunches at 2pm so beware if you are running late......... very recommended

There were two lunch entree options, one meat and one non-meat. They were both hot, ample, and delicious! There was even some historical context offered to the dish. Soup and sandwiches were also available. Plenty to choose from for beverages and dessert. This is a great stop for lunch!

Can I start by saying that normally the Restaurant / Tea Rooms at National Trust properties are excellent. The reason for my low grade on this occasion is as follows:-Looking for somewhere to go to take advantage of the nice weather I went on the N.T. website and the section for facilities at Speke Hall that says "Treat yourself to a full cream tea with our freshly baked scones (visit mid-afternoon for piping hot ones) " sounded like a good idea for our trip out. We arrived at the hall and decided to go on the walk round the estate which we thoroughly enjoyed. On completing the walk we went to the Tearoom to enjoy our cream tea only to be told that they had no scones. As this was at 3o'clock I would have thought it to be a good time to expect a warm scone but would have been happy to have a cold scone but to get none at all was very disappointing.

Like most NH places the tea rooms and restaurants are often over priced. The main meals here hit around £8-£9 but to give some credit it was freshly made and local, with dishes like Scouse and Pan Haggerty and Wet Nelly cake but it felt like a rip off even if it was a nice meal. It cost us £15 for one main, two cakes and two teas. Pretty steep. While I'm glad that NT do more than pre-packed sandwiches at most places now, £8 for what is really a potato and cheese bake is a little much.Would eat here again but never a full meal, I'd always share with my partner, based on the prices.

National Trust food is always excellent. Here, it is served to you as you order it rather than having to wait for it being brought to your table, which is good. i was undecided between scouse and pan haggarty as my husband said we should sample local dishes. We ordered the scouse, but it was more potato than meat,so I did not think it good value for money although it was served with a lovely crusty roll and some excellent red cabbage. i did wish I had tried the pan haggarty instead.

Over the past few years, the food has improved here, with more variety. We had a home-made quiche with a good salad also a bowl of soup and crusty roll. Self-service was quick. Cakes are very good but personally I find the recommended wet Nelly far too stodgy - as its unappealing name suggests ! The Victoria sponge or chocolate cake is far tastier and slices are equally generous ! Tables outside are ok but there's not much of a view there.

A selection of delicious looking meals greeted me on arrival.Oh dear, which to choose. Taking a local theme i opted for a bowl of 'scouse' which was very good and then I attempted to finish off with a 'wet nellie' which was a surprisingly nice filling cake and I managed to eat it all! I wobbled out of the cafe, happy, full and ready to meet the 16th centuary that is speke hall. The staff at the home farm restaurant are very welcoming and informative.and will tell you how scouse and wet nellie got their names if yoose ask nicely! It just seems a shame that you will have to pay full admission price to the hall grounds if you just wanted to visit the cafe.this review was to a national trust property and admission charges apply

My girlfriend asked for a medium strawberry acai with lemonade but no ice and the drink cost £5.60 already for this price you could expect them to fill the cup, instead served a small cup half full, i asked if they could fill it up with lemonade as every other starbucks has done. I had to ask for a refund as i wasnt paying £5.60 for a half drink, we sat down to enjoy some time together and we overheard us them attempt to whisper about me asking for a refund by one staff member to the other and i found this to rude, when all i asked was a simple request. Any other starbucks or even staff have been much more accommodating. Wont be returning and ask people to go to the other starbucks in town centre.

We ordered a giant cookie on the second of feb to be collected on the 17th feb giving plenty time for it to be made. The day before pick up I ran the branch and asked about the cookie to which the lady rudely replied she hadn’t got an order and that there was lots of staff so it had gone missing, she didn’t even think to ask what was my order and instead told me to ring back at 4:30pm as she was extremely busy. As this cookie was for an event I didn’t want to risk not getting it and with the employee not really listening and being rude on the phone I went down to speak to her to my Surprise (not) she was not busy instead on her phone with her headphones in I spoke about the issue with the missing order and showed her my receipt to which she replied (I believe you) well I’m glad she did as she took my order on the 2nd. She never apologised or even acknowledges her mistake instead was extremely rude. I’m sure this isn’t the time of person Millie’s wants as the front for there business because I will not be going back and I’m sure others will feel the same if they have to deal with the same rudeness and inconvenience.
