Lovely, friendly staff. Nice lunchtime menu. Cosy atmosphere.

There was 6 of us in our party. We arrived and were seated quickly. We ordered drinks but these were slow in arriving. I didn't take note of the length of time but the two tables adjacent to us had arrived after us and had there drinks before ours. It was about 15 to 20 minutes before our drinks arrived. We ordered the Burns Night Supper which we had for the previous 3 years. The Cullen Skink arrived and was nice but the broth was only warm and one member of the party sent theirs back as it was not warm. Theirs arrived back 10 minutes later when we had finished. The second course was Haggis, neeps and tatties. This was nice but a bit small and the whisky sauce was virtually non existant. We requested more sauce and one miniature jug arrived which would not do one person let alone a group of 6. The main course was OK but again lacking in sauce. WE requested more sauce but again one miniature jug arrived. The pudding was cranachan. In previous years nthis was presented in a small Sundae glass with a goodly amount of cream, raspberry and oats. This year it was a layer of oats on a miniscule bed of cream and two miniature raspbarries. In general it was nowhere as good as in previous years and we will not attend this event next year.

Absolutely fantastic meal on Christmas Day, from the service to the quality of the food we were made to feel very welcome and looked after. Would 💯 recommend and go again for a special occasion or a casual meal with the family. 10 out of 10!

Excellent service at the Holly Bush last night from Emma and Jess, with great food. Terrible weather restricted the number of people in the place, but I would fully recommend the trip to this "off the beaten track" gastropub

Came with friends for the Festive Menu. Made very welcome by the staff on duty, Eddie and Michelle. On the whole an enjoyable experience although the main course (turkey dinner) was a little overdone for my liking. Turkey was ok, but vegetables and Yorkie were charred and crispy and only a tiny amount of gravy. Starters and desserts were very nice though.

Visit here regularly and Emma always greets us with a smile and friendly conversation. Food and drinks are always served quickly and staff are very attentive to ensure everything is ok. Good food, cosy setting and excellent staff, thank you to you all!

Cosy interior and hearty pub food. Can’t go wrong with pub classics like the cod and chips. Perfect pub for a drink or meal this time of year. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Will keep coming back

Delicious food. And it was hot. Service was very slow. Servers needed to be asked to clear the table after 2 rounds of drinks for 6 guests were still on the table when a third round was being ordered. It took 2hrs for starters and mains to be served and we still had pudding to go. Had to ask several times for additional sauces and gravy. The servers seemed flustered but the restaurant didn't seem overly busy and there seemed to be ample staff. Maybe it was an off day. I would go back again and hope service was much better!

As usual, excellent in every department, forgiven for forgetting my Guinnessfor 40 minutes. Xmas menu that i chose from was excellent, beef cheek Wellington starter, and braised beef cheek and veg main (I like beef) and festive trifle, please keep it on the main menu.

We’re always well looked after. The staff are fantastic, particularly Emma.

Service great. Very nice staff. Starters a bit costly especially when it's soup an you only get half a slice of bread. Garlic mushrooms is two on a piece of toast. Three roast meal is good value, stingy on gravy, no where near enough. Parsnips were very hard. Pity as rest was good and a decent size meal. Yorky pudding excellent. Decent variety of veg. Would I go there again.... oh yes.

We recently held my dad’s wake at The Holly Bush, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Emma, the manager, was exceptional—she went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Her warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care made all the difference. The room was beautifully set up, the food was excellent, and Emma and her team made sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable during a difficult time. The support and kindness we received meant so much to our family. Thank you, Emma, and all the staff at The Holly Bush, for helping us honor my dad in such a heartfelt way. Highly recommend.

I've stopped using after poor attitude from a temporary manager. When I asked why I couldn't eat near to the carpark, " because there's a sign saying you can't" ! Was the first response. When I pointed out I've eaten there many times before & what's the reason " because I'm the manager & I say so " was the response ! I questioned the fact that he was the manager isn't that Louise ? He begrudgingly admitted she was . Saying something like I'm the manager today 🤦 My friend & I were gobsmaked we pointed out he had a very expensive bike outside & eventually said we could eat roadside. I still don't know why we can't eat carpark side ?

A nice pub off the beaten track, dog friendly with a large beer garden. The food was great for a Green King and the staff were pleasent.

Absolute pleasure to eat here. Greeted with a smile and staff are so attentive. Extremely highly recommended by us.

I have only dropped in for a quick beer here, but there is a good selection, and the bar staff are friendly.

Family meal out tonight. Not been to the Holly bush in a long time and won't be returning in an even longer time. Food wasn't great. Steaks were tough and the garlic bread was limp. But the service was glacial. After 20 minutes of waiting to pay the bill we paid at the bar and left. Emma you can now leave your standard response to a bad review.

Me and my wife ate today while we had a child free day. We was the first in at about half 11. The food was wonderful and Emma the manager was a lovely lady and very helpful. We was chatting to her about Christmas bookings and she was telling us about breakfast with Santa for our children. The place is lovely and cosy and we will definitely be booking for Christmas next year and breakfast with Santa this year. Highly recommend this place and the toad in the hole and pork belly is amazing!

No way it's 28 day matured beef,we couldn't even cut it,sent it back. The chef didn't even come out to see us!

We only had a main course and all had Salmon Wellington from the specials menu. The salmon was succulent with good pastry. The service was prompt and very friendly.

We have visited The Holly Bush several times and today found it as welcoming as ever. The food was excellent and the staff Emma and Eddie were very pleasant, polite and professional.

My sister from formby was staying in Lichfield my husband and myself are from telford and decided to meet them at the hollybush ,as I have lukemia and no immune system I cannot mix where other people are ,so we sit outside ,it started off fine weather by the time we got to your restaurant it was raining ,your staff couldn't have been more helpfull they roped off a more private area and by a window so we could still be able to eat ,the staff went above and beyond what most places would have gone , the food was very good ,so a massive thankyou to you all at Holly Bush, we would have had to have drove straight back if it weren't for your wonderfull staff ,

First time here tonight, what a really nice night we had, staff very pleasant food wonderful very quick service, will look forward to returning .

My family took me here for my birthday meal and it was lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere is very relaxed. It's not the first time I've been, and I would definitely go again.

Took my cousin out for her birthday to the Holly Bush while we visiting and really enjoyed our visit to the Holly Bush. The staff made us feel welcome and took the time to have a chat with us. The Holly Bush inside is lovely and shows its long history. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food could not be faulted. No issues in recommending the Holly Bush and hope Emma and her team keeps up their good work.

Superb service yet again. Can not fault the friendliness of the staff and the food was excellent. This is our second visit in 3 weeks and are already looking forward to coming back again. 3 of us in total, me my wife and our 8 year old daughter. The real acid test was our daughter who is a very fussy eater. She polished off her full plate of mac and cheese and loved the garlic bread. I had the signature burger which was very tasty, and my wife had the sea bass which she loved. Great food, great pub, fantastic value for money. Well done all at the Holybush

Went Sunday evening staff welcoming ordered food when it came it was cold and roast potatoes unappetising. I informed young waitress she said ' what's seems to be the problem ' . She took it away to heat up returned shortly afterwards still lukewarm and inedible. I gave up hope at this point . They then got the bill wrong. After spending nearly £60 on a meal after work had to come home put the air fryer on and have chips ! Such a shame as a lovely pub most of Staff friendly but food dire !!

We went for a family meal here recently (13.07.24). Emma and her team was amazing, couldn’t ask for better and all the food was lovely, hot and freshly cooked. Fab customer service and we all really enjoyed our visit. Thank you

[Review date may be incorrect as I edited the original review to correct a typing error] I am sorry to write anything negative but I have had to knock down the ratings due to the experience of my mother - For context I am vegan, and my mother is vegetarian - we also had my sister in law who is on a "regular" diet with us. The starters were all delicious on a good starting note, we all throughly enjoyed. I had bread with oils and olives, my mother had a soup and my sister had the garlic mushroom ciabatta. We could not fault any of the starters as they were all fresh and full of flavour. We got to the main courses and two of the three meals were delicious - I loved what I had and ate the whole meal, if you are going - even if you usually consume meat I'd highly reccomend giving the vegan butternut flatbread a try. The pink mocktail, I can't remember it's exact name but I had it also pairs really well with it, it has a subtle berry flavour. The second dish that went down well was my sister's lasagne, I can't comment on the taste as a vegan but it was well presented and she enjoyed it. The third dish however... my mother had ordered halloumi goujons on a ciabatta and two of them were halloumi, the third one was definately fish. The colour was completely different inside and it was noticably fishy smelling from the other side of the table once it was cut into. Her fries were also par-cooked and soggy and I left some chips out for her because I knew she was less likely to eat fries anyway but they didn't look right - at all. Despite serving her fish the chef was insistent that her goujons were all halloumi but were cooked in fish oil - which is disgusting as fish oil is not vegetarian. This should be stated on the menu as it is not allergen or dietary friendly. We were really unhappy with how lightly it was handled as they still tried to charge her for a meal she couldn't eat and the manager had slipped away to deal with a personal matter upon seeing this go down - I can't fault them for offering her a replacement but if they cook their meals in the same oil it wouldn't be replacable for two reasons; firstly, the oil is still cooked with fish and that would make it not friendly to her diet and secondly, she would have been eating alone. We eventually were given our meals for free for the inconvinence of not being able to eat together which I appreciate as and end result of our conversation but it's a shame we had to bring it to their attention that they can't replace something that is cross contaminated. I would also like to say, to not end on a bad note that we had a really lovely waitress and that the resturant had a nice, friendly atmosphere aside from the negative experience with some of the till staff on my mother's behalf. I would reccomend coming here for a nice meal if you have a party without allergens who do not follow meat or fish free diets as despite the high quality of the food it has made us cautious to return as the allergen training does not seem to be up to scratch.

Visited for my first time to.meet a friend for drinks. Sat outside in a nice little seating area. Plenty of room to park outside, would definitely return.

Food decent Atmosphere nice and chilled. The service first impressions shocking some snappy you g upstart lad probably needs lesson in customer service, strange how it got better after mentioning it.

Appalling service. Family of 6. Told no tables and told to sit on bar tables near entrance for food. Several tables free but told they were fully reserved. Families left before and during our meal but still told that tables not free. Had starters, mains and deserts which took over 2 hours. 5 tables were were free before, during and after we left. 2 members of staff on. Male taking order was rude and appeared not to be bothered. Perhaps over worked but needs to be trained to looked after customers. £170 paid. Shame as a otherwise nice pub and food. Won’t be going again.Look after your customers and don’t let them sit by the door saying tables are not free when this is not the case.

We had not visited The Holly Bush for a long time and when we received an offer to visit we decided to visit one evening in June. We were welcomed by the Manager who welcomed us back and said that she was pleased to see us. After asking about the offer we both decided on the Lamb Shank Shepherds Pie that was described as: 8-hour slow-cooked lamb shank, baked into a minced lamb & vegetable pie, topped with creamy mash with a Barber’s of Somerset Cheddar crust. Served with buttered greens at a cost of £23.49 each. When it arrived it was not exactly what we had expected but after we had tried to eat the Lamb Shank it was clear that we could not separate the lamb from the bone and after testing it with my finger it was clear that it was still frozen. I asked to see the manager and she apologised and asked if we would like another and we declined and chose the Fish and Chips that were nice. She returned later and explained that the chef had not pushed the temperature probe far enough into the lamb and as an apology did not charge us for the first round of drinks. Whilst the manager was aware that we had a voucher this was not shown on the bill so we paid the full price for our meal. We had expected much better from a Chef and Brewer restaurant and will not be visiting again. A subsequent visit by the Environmental Health Officer pointed out to the manager and staff the importance of checking the temperature of food before serving to customers. Lovely meal at the Holly Bush. Tried one of the specials - Leek, Asparagus and Cheese Pie. Emma (General Manager) advised new specials are about to be launched! We were very pleased when Shaun, the Kitchen Manager, came over to our table and explained the new specials very enthusiastically. He gave us a flavour and said he'd look forward to our feedback. Can't wait to try them out!

Went for lunch with my mum, food was good (chicken burger and fish & chips), staff were lovely and friendly and attentive. A nice spot!

Decided to eat with yourselves today. Unfortunately not the best experience. Asked for a table for 2 the waitress was not the best she was very stroppy and came across as rude. She took us to a table and threw the menus on it and walked off. Returned after 10 minutes to take our drinks order. Then took our food order which was a sharing starter and 2 steaks. After about 30 minutes our steaks came out to which we asked about our starter. Stroppy waitress then came and told us the kitchen had not got our starter order. She then said if you want your starter you will have to wait a little or you can just have your steak. At that point we decided not to have anything and left. I wouldn't mind but there wasn't many people in.

Myself and my Fiance are regulars at the Holly bush mainly because of the fine food and drinks and attentive service by the Staff and Emma. Who is always welcoming and makes sure that our visit is a happy one. Qs

Visited on a whim early on a Wednesday evening. Pub was not very busy. Served by lovely Lisa. Only 2 members of staff serving so glad it wasn’t busy whilst we were there. Tasty food. Hot temperature. Thank you.

Went for my birthday 5/5. My husband & I had been looking fwd to the lamb shank shepherds pie since the new menu came out. Boy was we disappointed. The meal looks nothing like how it's advertised (see pic) barely any meat underneath the mash, less than a cm, there was so much more needed to fill the dish (see pic) shank thrown on top & the mash slapped on top. Then a little limp cabbage thrown on the side all for £23 x 2. Couldn't fault other meals ordered. sorry but never again Holly bush. Lost another family as customers

Came as a last minute Sunday evening meal, so glad we did. Was real easy to book, Ash our server was really attentive. Food was amazing, highly recommend steak and ale pie.

Just got back from the Holly Bush pub, and I must say what a lovely evening we had,we all agreed and could not fault anything, Emma and her staff was amazing and I will recommend a visit from my family and friends to try it out.Thank you all at the Holly Bush will definitely come back.🙂.

we have been before and have had really nice meals but sadly wont be back after tonight. rubbish food - overcooked fatty fish that was so hard in places i spat it out thinking it was bone, hardly any chips, mushy peas that my partner pointed out resembled playdough. food wasn’t even hot when it came out so i’m assuming it had been sat there ages and for the price we could’ve got nicer elsewhere. would have said this to the waitress had she come over but she never asked us how the meal was, was more interested in the tables around us left us waiting 20 minutes to order sweets so we paid the bill and went to a supermarket to get one instead and even had to get up to pay the bill at the bar because after asking her for it she still walked past us 3 times serving other tables. fair enough if it was busy but there were only 4 other tables. my partner did say his food was alright but almost £50 for 2 meals a coke and a beer is shocking when the food and service isn’t good and i’m sure we were charged for tap water as well!!

Came in here for somewhere different, was a very quiet little pub, we dined in the dog area as brought a 4 legged friend. We were made to feel welcome, and the main meal was very nice, the pudding however came out almost frozen as was very different to cut through (we had the cheesecake). Unfortunately service was very slow taking 5 mins for anyone to come ask us what drinks we wanted when first arriving, nobody checked on us to ask if everything was ok with the main meal, and when we ordered the pudding and a 2nd round of drinks we only received the pudding as they forgot about the drinks. We may call back again as it was a nice little pub, but do think service needs improving, oh and possibly some WiFi as no mobile signal or music on in the background.

Lovely pub! Gorgeous food in a warm friendly atmosphere. Best coffee ever! Light and airy with plenty of space between tables. Excellent service. Oo and very nice loos too.

Food quite poor quality very processed and they replaced items but didn’t advise beforehand. Expensive for what you got, think standard has gone down , a Sat bank holiday visit and place empty which says a lot. Service wasn’t attentive as they usually come and ask is everything ok but no one did and it was very empty!Think there are better places to go.

We've had our annual dinner here for the past three years. Last night did not fail to disappoint. Thanks Emma and team for a lovely evening .

It was a very enjoyable dining experience.

Had a great Breakfast Sunday, excellent quality and value, great service from Emma and Luke.

My meal was good, my wife's was very bad; potatoes cooked in duck fat must have been cooked a week ago and kept warm,they were cold and dry. Honey roasted carrots-only one and overcooked, the rest of the carrots were just boiled to heat and undercooked. Suffing was like eating seasoned sawdust and the yorkshire pudding was so full of cheap tasting cooking oil it was unedible. Side order was served 10 mins after the mains so was sent back. Service was a joke, having waited 40mins for starters the waitress managed to drop some of the food (squid) from the plate to the floor, said sorry and would bring more, walking away leaving the sqiid on the floor which I had to pick up. Other starter did not arrive and when asked about it the reply was oh. At the end of the meal the waiter apologised for the food and reduced the bill by the only pudding that was orded. Atmosphere was not great as you could hear people talking about poor food and service. Will we visit again?-doubtful. Would we recommend?-no.

Vegetables were solid, they gave us a lamb mint gravy with our steak and ale pie which ruined the meal. No discount offered for their error.

Had a nice quite meal on a Saturday afternoon, there were only 2 people serving so glad it wasn’t any busier than it was. Food was great and cannot complain at all. Will definitely keep returning to this little gem.
