Had a nice quite meal on a Saturday afternoon, there were only 2 people serving so glad it wasn’t any busier than it was. Food was great and cannot complain at all. Will definitely keep returning to this little gem.

Beef on Sunday was like we was given the end bits, but the rest was fabulous. Staff are amazing.

Ashley our server was friendly but professional. The food was lovely! Had a mixture of the chefs menus, set menu and main menu. Puddings were delicious with a coffee at the end.

Awful , staff don’t follow simple instructions when you clearly tell them your allergin issues , then they lie about it , staff need serious re training as one of our group got ill after asking the staff a few times if they got their order correct.

My husband and I visited for the first time as recommendation, unfortunately we will not be going back. Although my husband enjoyed his meal the same can't be said about mine. I have a wheat allergy and when presented with the menu the choice is very limited. When my meal arrived the portion was tiny. I have never since a jacket potato so small and the salad was the same. If you cannot offer the same value for money on a wheat free option then either reduce the price or don't bother.

Tried booking but trying to speak to someone on site is impossible. Had to use automated system. So gave up and went elsewhere

Fabulous meal, lovely surroundings, staff are very friendly & polite- I can not fault this place at all 10/10 Pet friendly is an understatement as they are so welcoming, I’ve only just discovered this little gem & I’ve been twice in one week! I would highly recommend a visit & I will definitely be using regular from now on.

Went on a Sunday afternoon with family. What we found was a pub / restaurant that seemed to be in decline?? 1, Ordering drinks took ages. 2, Tables were dirty. Asked to get ours cleaned and despite saying they would clean it,nothing. So when i asked again i was given paper towel and i had to clean it myself. 3, When we were sat at the table the service was very slow. Ordered the food and approximately 30 mins later it was served. My order was the Venison sausage and mash. What a disappointment !! Presented as two sausages on a small amount of mashed potato. No garnish etc. Then when i sampled the sausage, it was way over cooked and i could not cut the meat.So I sent it back. Overall impression was that the staff need better training. The Manageress looked stressed and the restaurant could do with a good clean. Won't be back.

We visited to celebrate Burns Night; Emma and the team were fantastic and I have to say what a good deal the fixed price supper was - the food was enjoyable from start to finish - so nicely cooked - thank you.

Had the bbq Korean chicken strips to start they were rubbery and cold. Forgot peoples drinks and the main course trio of roasts was awful the whole meal was cold the duck fat roast potatoes were like the night befores frozen roasties, the vegetables was rock hard and the Yorkshire also. Similar results with others on the table. Will not be coming again.

Our Granddaughters have just treated us to Sunday Lunch . Haven’t been for many years . The decor was lovely and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Food was excellent! Lovely experience.

We had Emma and her team dealing with us tonight, and I have to say Emma was exceptional with her service and so kind with any and all requests. She was very helpful and willing to give us the best options and made the experience as joyful and simple as possible. The food was very good. I had the salt and pepper squid and then the pork belly, which definitely felt was worth the price we paid. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. We went on a night where it wasn't fully booked, so the noise wasn't bad, but do think if it was full, the noise might become a problem.

Really lovely pub - we came for breakfast and it arrived promptly and was delicious. It is one of only a handful of pubs in the Lichfield area that I know of that are open for breakfast, and it’s definitely worth a visit for it. Service was personable and Emma was a great host. We would definitely return for Sunday roast and the surrounding area will be lovely as we move into spring and summer.

Only one down side which affected our review. We had stopped coming some time ago as the quality of food and service had dropped considerably, but I'm happy to say it's back. Our service from Emma was fantastic and our main meal was lovely but when it came to our desserts we had a different server & the ice-cream sundae only had half of a scoop of ice cream, the whipped cream placed over the peices of choc fudge was hiding a big hollow. It took a while to get the young girls attention, she was busy talking but when we did it was taken away to replace & she apologised. Sadly when it came back the choc fudge had been removed & replaced with a scoop of ice cream, there was also only a shell of a scoop with the other dessert too, maybe there was an issue scooping 🤔. If the pudding had been OK or at least corrected properly we'd of been happy to leave a 5 star review as everything else was back to a great standard.

My son and I, had Christmas lunch with you, great atmosphere, service great and friendly, and lunch was excellent, complements to the chef and his staff. We will return again this Christmas please let us know when booking are open. Thank you Emma and your team

Recently have eaten Breakfast and Lunch here. Food is decent for price and as part of a pub chain! Service is great too but it's the atmosphere I really like, especially in the winter. Very cosy and warm. Eaten here many times and still will continue to visit!

Love where this pub is situated & the cosy decor. Breakfast with santa was fab & my son really enjoyed it. Great portion sizes even for the childs! Emma is always friendly & can't do enough for you. Not the first time we have been here ;)

I attended an 80th birthday party here. I had been to Holly bush several times and always enjoyed my meal. However, this time was awful. We had to pre-book our meal choices so were looking forward to a well cooked, hot meal. The starters were fine. Unfortunately, we then had to wait for 30 minutes after the plates had been removed. I had the vegan pie. It was only edible on one side, due to being put in the micro wave on high and becoming too hard to get my teeth through. My carrots were cold and the parsnips dried up. The sprouts were cold, waterlogged and undercooked. Half of the potatoes were cold and half warm. The people waiting for turkey dinner didn't get them until I'd finished battling with mine. The only meals which were good were the burgers! Perhaps the Hollybush managers would consider hiring cooks who can cope with proper meals? I speak as a professional, fully trained and qualified cook.

My husband and I love coming here for a roast dinner. Amazing quality, service and atmosphere. They allow dogs in the bar area too which is lovely as they provide blankets, treats and bowls of water. It’s beautiful and cosy decor throughout feels so inviting and the staff are always pleasant and accommodating. Today we were served by Eddie and he was extremely attentive and very well mannered despite possibly being a bit rushed.

Disgusting meal and service - only giving it a 1* as there is no option for zero! Load of young staff, who seemed unhelpful, startled and undertrained. Took our very straightforward order incorrectly, then a blamed us for supposedly ordering the wrong meal… then before cooking the correct meal to bring it out (bare in mind, the other main course had already been served and was only like warm anyway) - had us wait for 5 minutes then bought out the card machine for extra £5 it would cost. When said meal came out, it was nothing like it was described on the menu, quite frankly it had packet rice and instead of the garnish had a pot of spring onion. The vegetables looked like they were cooked 3 weeks ago and left on the hot plate since - shrivelled, brown and lukewarm. And all this for the pleasure of a £60 bill. Highly WOULD NOT recommend and it is criminal that we were even charged for the garbage that we were served.

We went for my daughter’s birthday today. The pub was warm and cosy with a lovely atmosphere. We decided to go with the festive menu, I had the terrine to start and it was absolutely gorgeous, really tasty!! We all went for the turkey dinner which we all really enjoyed. All drinks and food came out in perfect time… I think we’ve found our new meeting place for dinner with the family. Thankyou Holly Bush

This was the first first time I visited here and I was really disappointed. When we arrived the furniture looked tired and not very comfortable. I could see that a lot of the tables had lovely furniture but the table we were given was completely different. Then we had dirty cutlery and glasses on the table so I asked a member of staff to change them. The food was not great. I had a pie and the actual pie was nice but the mash that came with it was hard and tasteless, then the veg was soft and very cold. Our friend ordered the mixed grill, which was bad. The steak had a lot of gristle in it, and everything was lacking taste. Maybe it was an off day there, but I might have to try a different Chef and Brewer rather than revisit this one.

Haven't been to the Hollybush for a while but recommended by a friend. We selected the Christmas menu. Great service and atmosphere but the soup was luke warm. The Christmas dinners looked great but the only item that was truly warm were the pigs in blankets. When we went to the bar to pay our bill the kitchen door was open and there was an icy blast coming from in there. Not sure if there was a problem in the kitchen but overall it wasn't a great experience due to luke warm food.

Very Dissapointed Customer We have been several times and never felt the food 100% right . Several menu items arent available mainly and some dishes leave a lot to be desired Went tonight without booking . Gave us a decent table but told us because you hadn't booked you need to order at the bar.Whilst deciding a staff member came to the table right next to us to take their order Being a lesser customer because we hadn't booked we ordered at the bar wondering when it was ready would they call us to fetch it !! Soup was slightly warm and very thin, melba toast was stale ! Thought ok they are busy because there was a local function. We had same main and it was Seabass and Scallop Pea Risotto The fish was so dry it was inedible and Risotto was terrible. To be fair staff member was asking people it the food was OK and when I said no without hesitation she said No problem it will be replaced. It cane again and the fish was barely cooked with absolutely white scallops not ever seared. I could not eat it ! When another staff member came over and asked was it OK I said no but it didn't matter ,he asked would you like dessert or more drinks ,no thank you we are leaving. On paying the bill he taken the mains off which I respect him for but we won't be going back. Shame Christmas Menu looks lovely. Been here a few times over the years, every time we return it’s with the hope it’s got better. It hasn’t changed one bit, always seems understaffed, staff seem poorly trained and worse don’t seem to like working here. It has the potential to be a really nice pub, I just don’t think there’s the will to do anything with it. We were in at 1PM for lunch, kids and wife went outside to find a table. For some reason the bar lady who looked massively in over her head immediately informed me that the kids aren’t welcome in the bar area but are allowed to come through the bar to leave or go to the toilet. 😂 Then handed me menus (but not kids menus) had to come back for those. Once our family decided on our order I went back into the bar for a lengthy wait, most of the people I saw sitting at tables were looking longingly for some service which wasn’t coming. Ordered my meal and drinks, bar lady then began taking further orders for food and drinks instead of preparing my drinks. I had to wait in the bar for almost 10 mins for these drinks, I couldn’t ask the kids to come and help carry their drinks either as kids aren’t allowed in remember! Food came quite quickly, kids pizza was essentially a microwave pizza and the side of veg sticks looked like they’d been prepared a good week ago. I went with a pub classic “smothered chicken” it was at a guess 1/4 of a chicken breast sliced up. Tasted like processed chicken, 99% sure that was a microwave meal to plate up too. We won’t return until this place changes hands now.

Service poor, was given food with no cutlery or serviette. Sent my chips back straight away as cold and oily. Steak ciabatta was as not fresh and not edible. Asked for refund for food and drink, which was given.

Overpriced and underwhelming food. Don’t bother ordering food here unless it’s your basic fish and chips or steak and chips - they aren’t very good at doing ‘adventurous’ foods. I ordered the harissa roasted cauliflower and i was very disappointed when it came out late and the cauliflower was just boiled with no seasoning at all. Why call it harissa roasted if it was not roasted and it did not have a single ounce of harissa on it.

Had the most awful meal last night 12/09/23 at the Holly Bush Little Hay. I had the Sea Bass and Pea risotto and it was so poor. When I complained, the waiter told me it was a standard bought in product and they couldn’t improve on the meal that was delivered to me and offered me a portion of free chips. The quality of the food was poor and the cooking was disgraceful. They pea risotto had hardly any rice and was a plate of peas in green sauce, the scollops were hard. My husband wanted to order ribeye and they had no ribeye, his second choice was fish and chips, and this was unacceptable quality. I hadn’t been to the Holly Bush for a few months and it was a total disappointment, the quality has gone down hill. Save your money and go to the local fish and chip chop the meal quality will be far better, the potions will be substantially and you will get better value for your money.

Family Birthday celebration. The staff were so attentive and friendly, and the food was served without waiting too long. Everyone commented on how tasty their meals were and the children in our party were well catered for. We especially liked that there was a separate gluten free menu with lots of choice for our coeliac diner. Well done Holly Bush , so glad we chose you and we will definitely be back.

I am sorry to write anything negative but I have had to knock down the ratings due to the experience of my mother - For context I am vegan, and my mother is vegetarian - we also had my sister who is on a "regular" diet with us. The starters were all delicious on a good starting note, we all throughly enjoyed. I had bread with oils and olives, my mother had a soup and my sister had the garlic mushroom ciabatta. We could not fault any of the starters as they were all fresh and full of flavour. We got to the main courses and two of the three meals were delicious - I loved what I had and ate the whole meal, if you are going - even if you usually consume meat I'd highly reccomend giving the vegan butternut flatbread a try. The pink mocktail, I can't remember it's exact name but I had it also pairs really well with it, it has a subtle berry flavour. The second dish that went down well was my sister's lasagne, I can't comment on the taste as a vegan but it was well presented and she enjoyed it. The third dish however... my mother had ordered halloumi goujons on a ciabatta and two of them were halloumi, the third one was definately fish. The colour was completely different inside and it was noticably fishy smelling from the other side of the table once it was cut into. Her fries were also par-cooked and soggy and I left some chips out for her because I knew she was less likely to eat fries anyway but they didn't look right - at all. Despite serving her fish the chef was insistent that her goujons were all halloumi but were cooked in fish oil - which is disgusting as fish oil is not vegetarian. This should be stated on the menu as it is not allergen or dietary friendly. We were really unhappy with how lightly it was handled as they still tried to charge her for a meal she couldn't eat and the manager had slipped away to deal with a personal matter upon seeing this go down - I can't fault them for offering her a replacement but if they cook their meals in the same oil it wouldn't be replacable for two reasons; firstly, the oil is still cooked with fish and that would make it not friendly to her diet and secondly, she would have been eating alone. We eventually were given our meals for free for the inconvinence of not being able to eat together which I appreciate as and end result of our conversation but it's a shame we had to bring it to their attention that they can't replace something that is cross contaminated. I would also like to say, to not end on a bad note that we had a really lovely waitress and that the resturant had a nice, friendly atmosphere aside from the negative experience with some of the till staff on my mother's behalf. I would reccomend coming here for a nice meal if you have a party without allergens who do not follow meat or fish free diets as despite the high quality of the food it has made us cautious to return as the allergen training does not seem to be up to scratch.

Been for food this evening. Service was incredibly slow. We had booked for 5:15 as we had our 14 month old with us. As we were seated we pretty much ordered drinks and I ordered my daughters food so she could start eating while we waited for our food. After 15 mins I asked our waiter if we could order as we were ready and he said I won’t take them yet incase your food comes out before your drinks…..?! We ordered a Coke and a mocktails, I’d dread to think that took longer than the food to cook. One red flag! After 35 mins the food came out and so did my daughters- so utterly pointless ordering it first. The burgers were ok- nothing special my husband didn’t eat much of his. The drinks were full of ice- full!! It was nearly £4 for a large Coke but we essentially had half a glass once the ice was taken out. Once finished we ordered dessert as they took the plates away. We had an ice cream sundae and ice cream for my daughter. 25 mins later I called over a waitress and just asked where the ice cream was, I was happy to wait for ours but my 14 month old was getting fidgety and after all it was two scoops of ice cream. The waitress returned to table saying we’ll get it started for you now…..?! So when she came to clean the plates 30 mins ago and we ordered the dessert nothing happened after that?! The staff were pleasant but just lacked any sense. As a young family the quicker we can feed the little toddler the more peace we get. Instead we had to wait to eat ours as her arrived at the same time. Their lack of attention just made the meal more stressful as we tried to keep her entertained without causing issues. There was no urgency in serving us and it was a shame the food and drinks were just ok. I wouldn’t rush back. It was meal to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary and we went as a family, unfortunately I spent most of the time sat alone as my husband was entertaining our toddler waiting for her food.

Good value for money. Five years since my original review and standards seem to have taken a nose dive. Very slow service. Water requested for the table never arrived. Food was acceptable but only just warm. Poached eggs were hard ......which they shouldn't be!! Could be our last visit.

So disappointed the last time we came it was brilliant however this time it was not..... Service very poor took around an hour for cold food which wasn't impressive..... Took us 3 times to ask for water for the table which finally got delivered as we were leaving wont be rushing back anytime soon.

I’ve been twice recently. Firstly dinner with family for a birthday celebration. Three of the four meals were returned as lukewarm. Second time last week for lunch. Only a ciabatta and a flatbread with chips from the lunch menu, but again, both had to go back as barely warm. What is so hard about serving food hot? Sorry, but 2 strikes and you’re out. Shame as nice place and nice menu 😒

Very slow service. We had to queue for a long g time for our drinks wait ages to be seated , wait ages for our order to be taken. The food when it came was good. We were going to have a coffee a d pudding but decided it wasn't worth the wait !! Certainly won't go again in a hurry or recommend it it wasn't even that busy. Shame really because food was good a d staff when they did arrive were pleasant

Last Sunday we had a meal already booked for 6 people, service was very slow in comparison to our previously visit, and food was cold, very disappointing.

Summary: Fairly long wait times, disorganised service and very average food… Visited for Sunday Lunch (14:00) on the 30th of July. We all had the Sunday roast. The meat and Yorkshire puddings were great however the veg and potato’s really let it down. The veg wasn’t seasoned and was frozen and the roast potatoes also appeared frozen and some were even still hard in the middle. More gravy needed, I would recommend ordering more. Food came out at all different times including desert. The deserts themselves were delicious! Staff were clearly very overwhelmed it was very busy and it appeared as though they each have too large of an area to look after. Our server was great and at points over apologetic which was very kind of her she really didn’t need to worry. It was mentioned that the bar, kitchen and front of house were not in sync which lead to the items being served at different times. Bar was good, great selection of drinks and bar staff were again really friendly.

Been many times. Food 90 % of time is very good. When busy though, food can arrive lukewarm. Staff always attentive and friendly and I enjoy the country atmosphere.

I enjoyed my lunch time steak and cheese cake dessert. Jack served us and was very pleasant.

To be honest I've had better. I had the wagyu burger and it wasn't great. The regular burger was probably better. Not really impressed. To be fair though they left us alone, paid just enough attention to us as we wanted.

Portions are quite small, so definitely take note of that whilst ordering. Food was good, however nothing too special or mind blowing, especially considering the price. BUT the staff are super friendly, accommodating and helpful - we were served by Rae, who was very nice and apologetic about the delays the entire time (obviously something which isn’t their fault!) - It’s worth a visit if you’re popping in for drinks, but probably wouldn’t eat there again. Overall pretty average, but nothing too serious to complain about. 😊😊😊

Went for a weekday lunch with friends where the food was OK but the service was poor and vert slow. Our drinks were left on the next table. We would have stayed for deserts but it took so long before we saw a member of staff that we settled for the bill instead.

Lunch here was again an absolute pleasure. Food and service were excellent; never disappoints. Dish of the day for us was the sharing platter starter which was the best we’d ever had anywhere (and we’ve had a few!). Thank you Emma and Ralph will def see you again

Sutton Coldfield model engineers club had a club dinner on 28th march. Excellent food, which was all delivered to the very large group in good time and presented very well. The staff worked so hard and look after our large group in an extremely polite and efficient manner. We would like to thank the staff at the Holly bush for their efforts in looking after us, a huge thank you to all the staff, an excellent evening .

This is my go to pub every time for food, took the wife here for Mother’s Day and it never fails to impress. Food was amazing with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Not rushed at all which is rare for a busy day in a restaurant. Emma and her team really are a credit to this pub. Plus I won the hamper for macmillan cancer support so I was double winning that day. Keep up the good work

Meal was nothing special, not a very good selection for vegetarians, desert was very small for the money. I was there with my family for my birthday, but staff were not very welcoming. They never smiled or passed the time of day with us. We were very reluctant to give a tip although we did. Very dissapointed with our experience with you. Don't think I will rush back there again.
