The Farm Shop and Trail are great but this review is for the cafe which isn't so great. We had breakfast here and wouldn't again. The hash browns were anaemic, the bacon barely cooked, the eggs had so much uncooked white and tasted like wash up liquid both plates had cracked eggs and a tenner for each was simply overpriced. The waitresses were friendly but the chef couldn't crack a smile let alone an egg. 2/10 wouldn't recommend.

Highly recommend for a place to visit. My grandson absolutely loved it on the Farm Trail. So much to do and see, he especially loved the toy tractors, sledge and play areas, such beautiful scenery. Loved feeding the animals A big thank you to the gentlemen for opening the tractor ride for him at the end of the day, he throughly enjoyed it and so did I. Staff friendly and helpful. Thanks 😊 for a fab' day.

The cafe and food is absolutely lovely but it really annoyed me today that I was told I wasn’t allowed to give my 1 year old his own food whilst i sat and ate the food I had just paid for. I explained my son didn’t eat what was in their menu and only wanted a few little bits of his rice cakes, fruit and sandwich but I was told he wasn’t allowed. The 2 very sweet ladies next to me were absolutely disgusted with this stupid rule. If I hadn’t of paid for my own food I would have walked out. I don’t see the issue when I had purchased food myself. Would this apply to a 6 month who only ate jar food? Such a shame as the farm and food is lovely but this stupid rule really frustrates me!

Doesn’t state anywhere online that dogs aren’t allowed in the farm shop. And when you arrive the signs only say not allowed in cafe or garden. So very surprised to arrive and be told no dogs in the farm shop. I pointed out the signs to the woman working and said show me where it says no dogs in the farm shop. To which she couldn’t answer. Rubbish communication, would not recommend.

Lovely little farm with some nice animals. We went during the holidays so outdoor activities where on, including the tractor ride and football golf ? All of which my son enjoyed. My quibble is with the farm shop; cake and pastries are not worth buying. Pastries were dry and the cake was heavy meaning the ingredients were all at the bottom of the loaf cake. So they’re poor quality and therefore expensive! We got to the till, had to ring for assistance which is fine but the girl who came was utterly miserable and barely said a word! Really poor! No hi, bye. Just a “do you want your receipt?”. Won’t be returning any time soon.

A great family day out! The trail is well marked out, with lots of things to see and do en route. As well as plenty of farm animals to see and feed along the way, there's multiple play areas dotted around the farm and a soft play area and sandpit at the end of the trail. The farm shop and cafe are also worth a visit, with great produce on offer. All in all, it's definitely worth the entrance fee and offers a good day out for all the family.

A medium sized farm shop thats actually good value for money. Inside you have a cafe and toilets. The outside plant area is quite small. There's a farm trail that you can do and see some animals. It costs £7 per person. The cafe is a nice large size, and has both an outdoor and indoor seating area. Sadly dogs are not allowed in the outside seating area, which is very unusual for a cafe. They're obviously not allowed into the farm shop either, or the trail. Very difficult to then visit when travelling with your pet in the summertime.

Hollow Trees Farm Trail is a fantastic place for the family. We've visited a few times with our grandkids, and it's always been a blast. The farm trail offers a range of activities suitable for kids of all ages (and us adults, too!). From pirate boats and rope swings to a soft-play area and even wellie wanging, there's never a dull moment. The pedal tractors and animal feeding areas are big hits with the little ones. We especially love the indoor and outdoor picnic areas—perfect for a relaxing lunch break. Plus, there is a snack hut offering confectionery, and hot & cold drinks. Hand washing stations are conveniently located throughout the farm, promoting cleanliness and hygiene—a definite plus, especially with young ones in tow. One of the highlights for the grandkids is purchasing bags of animal food to interact with the farm's friendly residents. Hollow Trees Farm Trail provides a full day of entertainment and learning. Overall, this is an excellent day out and offers fantastic value for money. I highly recommend it to families looking for a fun and memorable experience in beautiful surroundings.

Reasonably priced for a lovely day out! Animals to see include goats, cows, pigs, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, and guinea pigs! £1 of special feed went a really long way and it was nice to interact with the animals. Their enclosures were nice and spacious! Plenty of play areas for children, hand washing stations for cleanliness, and picnic areas (for nicer weather - bit rainy for us the day we went but didn't dampen our spirits!) We absolutely love this place, so far is best place we go in Suffolk area ,with children. It's so big and well looked after. Also so many different things to do for kids ,and so beautiful ❤️ path's to walk . Special day as today ,when was raining there,or kids still find under cover soft play area, and sand pit . Price for coffee and snacks a very reasonable. So it's a great bonus for all . And tickets yourself a cheap, so if you book online tickets 6£, if you buy them there is a 7 £ . Food for animals is 1 £ , probably 100 grams. Also was very nice found there is so many places when you can wash hands ,and water is warm so lovely.and big thanks for the special. It's a shame they not selling a annually ticket 🎟️ for family. But after all we still highly recommend for all .

We had the best Santa experience, I think we've possibly ever had, at Hollow Trees Farm. Some very cheery elves took us to our table which was beautifully decorated with a personalised welcome sign, a bag of crafts and colouring, and a drink waiting for the children. Very quickly the breakfast arrived for the children and we had our order taken for the adults hot drink and breakfast, which was delicious. The elves went around to all of the children, remembering their names and keeping them very well entertained with crafts and family games. There was alot of excitement as we counted down to our turn with each ring of the bell. It was great to be one of the last tables to see Santa so we could really enjoy all of the different things to do. When it was our turn to see Santa in the grotto, he was so enthusiastic and had great attention to detail. We sat in a cosy grotto and had a great amount of time having a chat and a photo. We came away with a really lovely gift too, a really wonderful Christmassy experience that was great value and very much appreciated! We will be back again!

We had a lovely time here, however I just wanted to mention that the cows don’t seem very well looked after. We saw them in their inside enclosure, there were several cows in a very small space and the floor was absolutely covered in a mix of wee and poo and didn’t look like it had been cleaned out for a long time. The cows themselves were covered in their own poo and it was all dried into the hair on their backsides. This really needs to be addressed asap. The place itself is very sweet and lots of different fun activities for kids. I think it would really benefit from some sort of map though.

We live locally and have been going to Hollow Tree Farms for years with the kids. We're amazed at how the place has evolved and expanded, with the farm trail now having so many things to do for the kids, so much so that it pulls in people from quite some distance. The farm cafe we find is excellent value, good-sized portions and mostly from either their own produce or locally sourced. I can fully recommend the toasties - absolutely to die for, or the home-made cakes. The farm shop is now so big that it dwarfs others in the area, with the butchery section in particular being a highlight.

Went round the farm trail for the day with family including my 3, 2 and 12 year old neices and newphews. Fun day out. Lots of play areas for kids and the animals were friendly and didn't mind being stoked and fed with the special feed. We didn't use the cafe. One thing I noted was that the farm trail could do with some more signage to show the way round as it was a bit unclear where each area was. The map is only available on the website and could be clearer. Maybe a paper map option would be nice? Some of the decoration signs and things could use a touch up too. Particularly in the fairytale section. The other this I noted was that the rolling log could do with some rails to hold on to and maybe be a bit lower? Or even taken out all together? I went on it with my neice and I injured myself quite badly. I know this was at my own risk but I just think it needs somthing to make it a bit safer. Good day out overall. Would recommend for an affordable day or afternoon out.

Restaurant was so over priced. £7.50 for a children’s sausage chips and beans and only 1 sausage! Over £12 for a dried up chicken Caesar salad. Many parts of the farm are now suffering from neglect. The sit on tractors diggers and bikes are all damaged ie missing steering wheels! Missing pedals and split sharp plastic. Mini golf is rubbish. Balls blow away and every station is on the wonk! One of the hidden gems of Suffolk - the shop is well stocked with a large selection of beautiful produce, and the garden centre plants all look vibrant, healthy and well cared for. The jewel in the crown, however, is the cafe. We went for lunch and decided on the special of the day, schnitzel with lemon and capers. It arrived in good time, looked absolutely beautiful, and tasted even better, leaving my husband to declare it was ‘one of the best lunches I’ve ever had!’ (I didn’t take it personally - I agree with him!). We went back the following week, arriving almost at the cut off point for breakfast (11.30am), but we’re informed by the friendly and helpful staff that it was no problem to still order from that menu, so we both had the eggs florentine. Beautiful toasted muffins, buttery spinach, indulgent hollandaise, and perfectly poached eggs, still runny without being snotty. We’ll definitely be returning again - all this coupled with the cosy and welcoming atmosphere makes for a perfect trip out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent butcher, very good selection of cheese and other deli items (cold cuts, pasties, pies, etc.), many items for gifting such as nice biscuits, fudge, interesting chocolates, etc. I'd recommend the farm trail for kids in the summer, but it can be a bit bleak on a rainy day in mid-winter. The café is adequate, but the food there is not as good as the rest of the shop and farm, although it is at least reasonably inexpensive. The shop, spot in for the higher end produce, it's very good quality stuff, definitely not what you get in a supermarket. Prices are reasonable though. Cafe has a good reputation and is always busy. Now the rest... And there is a lot. The animals, loads to see there and to feed. The dinosaurs, yep few of them. The playground, yes, lots of different activities for the kids to do. It’s very clean and has many wash areas to stay safe whilst touching animals. Lots of play areas to keep children entertained. The only issue is the trail itself isn’t well mapped. Well, what a disappointing visit today! I've always loved it here but where were all the animals?!? It was just Goats gallore... As nice as they are, it got a bit boring looking at the same animals. The play areas are the only decent thing about this place now. But please put the toilets back in the main play area as it's a nightmare with a buggy having to go right to the start of the trail again. And why were the toboggans not open? The cafe/food.... Why not say at the time of booking our slot that you need to book a table in the cafe? Not ideal when I have a baby to feed. Ended up having to get a take away and feed my baby in his buggy as he didn't get the option to sit in a high chair. The food was pretty naff too, my daughter has fish goujon(s) and chips, it was one tiny goujon and some under cooked chips. My husbands sausage bap was just soggy! And my roastie roll was cold. I wish it was money well spent, but it was so wasted, unfortunately. I won't be coming back.

Too slow really. Hard to keep a toddler happy waiting 40+ mins for our order to arrive. Probably fine if you don’t have young children, but really, shouldn’t have to wait this long.

We are fortunate enough to live locally, about 10 minutes away. It has been a few years since we have visited, and in that time the improvements that have taken place have been very positive. The family animal Trail is really, really good fun and...

Took the Grandson to Hollytrees. A great cheap day out on the farm trail. He was able to get up close and personal with the animals in between letting off steam on a variety of assault course type enjoyments and the Cresta Run toboggan. Food in the cafe was excellent, local and served by friendly ladies. The farm shop was packed with local goodies but I wouldnt do my weekly shop here unless I won the lottery!

Just got home after lovely visit to hollow trees farm. Due to covid haven't been in couple of years. What a lovely surprise some great changes to the layout, entrance and facilities. Excellent value farm trail at £6.50 each with some old friends like the giant chair and goat mountain plus new climbing Frames and changes to the cresta run tobbogans too. Even saw a calf being born awesome. Had lunch in the cafe and there again few changes to layout but still good value local food some of which comes from the farm or close by. Farm shop too got lovely produce and meats too, I love cheese so pleased with great selection. Got some Somerset cave aged cheddar which we love. Well done to all staff and management thanks for lovely day with my kids and my parents.

Second visit and they have put in more seats! Loads of hand washing stations. A place to spend a good few hours with energetic chidren - Cresta Run and climbing. But HTF misses a trick: it's poor on education. What types of pigs, goats, cattle?...

If you want to eat in the cafe you must book a table via their website. The shop is nice with artisan produce but it is expensive. The meat looked good but I think I will try a good local butcher instead.

Beautiful and clean. Not alot on offer for children on the spectrum though. For example the cresta sledges, our 6 year old would have loved this, but due to her autism she has danger awareness limitations so could not go on alone. An offer for any help or support so she could have tried would have been good but sadly not offered. The play areas are best suited to older children and all neurotypical ages as she only suited a swing. The animals were gorgeous and friendly but again not interesting enough for her and walking in the grounds could not hold her interest. She became distressed and we had to leave after 20 mins of being there. It's fine, we're used to this but if you have a child on the spectrum this may not be the place for you. If Hollow Trees would like any suggestions we're more than happy to be contacted. Thanks 😊

The food was delicious and everyone at the table recommended it! However the service was poor. We had to wait quite a long while after seating to be asked for drinks. We ordered food at the same time. Our drinks arrived after the food. We ordered second drinks after main, they arrived after the desert. Both times the drinks order was wrong. One side order was never brought.

It amazes me how this bar has a decent rating, well, they must be from friends of the bar. The bar is only open part time, and why is that? Because the only people it attracts is the local druggies and lowlifes. You won’t find anyone with any kind of standards drinking here, and trust me, you’ll be surrounded by 16 to 25 year olds. It seems the Ark is happy with this clientele, as the majority of Brantham know it’s known for this kind of thing. This “bar” is a failing business and will continue to be, unless it actually makes the effort with attracting the right customers who will make others comfortable drinking there. This bar is bad news and I would avoid. I have lived in the village for a long time and it’s such a shame, but you hear all kinds of rumours about it. Every time I drive past it seems it’s never open. If you prefer somewhere a little more classy then try the Brantham bull. The Brantham bull makes effort to provide a service for the elderly and actually wants to succeed.
