Holiday Inn Guildford Restaurant in Guildford

Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Child ate free. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Food was slow to arrive but worth the wait. We also had breakfast and this was brilliant. Good selection. Loved the pancake machine.

The ambiance here is super....... but having ordered a starter of anti pasti which was lovely, i had to remind the waiters yet again about the glass of wine i ordered a long time ago............ eventually a glass of wine was zipped over but no mention of the food i ordered over half an hour ago!!!!!! I have the wine but the table next to me came down half an hour later than me, yet they are tucking in to what looks like a great bit of fish and chips............ Im now getting frustrated and unfortunately I am yet again going to have to ask where my overdue meal is......... Not happy at all. The food is nice but............... ohhhh its just arrived!!!!!! Watch this space.......

Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food took a little longer than we would have liked, but it was worth the wait. The staff even noticed that it was taking too long and chased it , which was great. The food was lovely and warm and very nice. The food was reasonably priced and drinks were too Will visit again.

Amazing service. Gemma and the all staff are very professional and attentive to client requests. I have been here several times for work reasons and definitely recommend this place. The restaurant is located in the heart of Surrey Park and atmosphere is lovely.

We had pre-booked a table for 4 for a Sunday Lunch on 16 April but, in the event, there were very few other diners that Day so we enjoyed truly excellent personal service provided by the Waitress, Lateetia. The menu choice was wide and, as there were comparatively few diners, the courses were all cookie well and served promptly. Well recommended.

I just wanted to recommend the Holiday Inn in Guildford it was going to a difficult visit for my daughter emotionally but the staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to help which could have been a very traumatic visit from the receptionist to the chefs who help me carry our numerous bags .I also want to thank the lady in charge she was amazing .Standards were second to none l would definitely come here again if coming to Guildford

The restaurant has a good vibe and the food selection is also great. Special mention to kath as she is one of the best people there who really cares about the guest a lot .

The food was to the standard, every meal was delicious to taste. The warm welcoming by the staff members elevated the whole dining experience. Especially to mention the amazing waitress named Emily, she really made the experience feel like coming home. Her bright smile and professionalism was so enlightening. Definitely coming back.

We arrived at 19.30. We waited 20 minutes waiting for someone to come to take our order. My colleague asked for an allergens list, so the waitress said the manager would have to take the order. The manager came after 5 minutes. He said there is not an allergens list, so would have to check according to what meal my colleague ordered. It turned out it needed one component of the meal checking for lactose, so he went to check. He disappeared for 20 minutes. I went to the bar and said that the manager had gone to check for an allergen 20 minutes ago. The lady went to find him and he returned to our table after another 5 minutes, apologising that he'd also had two people who had very severe allergies, who he also had to check for. What a poor excuse! Then he took our order. We were still waiting for our food 40 minutes later, during which time, two meals bound for other tables were mistakenly brought to ours. We went to the bar at 21.00 and complained and left, having not eaten.

Used to eat here many years ago. Wonderful staff, superb food. Carvery Sunday lunch (shows how long ago) salad bowls, fantastic desserts. Used to eat weekdays in the restaurant too, faultless. Then it was changed to eating in the bar, amazing food, cheerful, courteous staff. The girls on our arrival so friendly and welcoming. SO what could go wrong. Obviously quite a lot. On our way home decided to try the restaurant again Just the two of us. Practically empty. Should have left, a cold and awful atmosphere was surrounding us And not only the area we sat in. The chairs/sofas seriously need a makeover, or even replaced. It was the same furniture of years ago, but so tired. We sat down and looked at the menu, just wanting a lunch. We felt as if we should not be there, actually heard the man serving us, being asked was there anyone in the kitchen? Not surprised as after ordering it took ages for the food to arrive. We ordered drinks and two paninis mine was a roasted vegetable and cheese, someone forgot to put in the vegetables and cheese, tasteless, quite dreadful. Baguettes were used and so over cooked it was like eating cardboard. Nobody came and asked how our food was. In fact the two gentlemen seemed to disappear, when appeared one was running around with his mobile.Never acknowledged us. A man came in for a coffee and spent AGES calling for someone to serve him. He asked us was there anybody there? We asked to pay, and again the attitude was really indifferent. There was a service charge on the bill WHAT SERVICE? Subsequently we asked for it to be removed and I waited patiently for the change We had been told to go to one area to pay, but the monies were paid at the bar why? I had to wait for the gentleman to walk back to the bar and then back to me with my change. ON his return he thrust it/ threw it so hard into my hand, saying THERE YOU ARE..... my hand went down with the impact. I cannot tell you how many Holiday Inn's we have stayed in, I can assure you I have never had such outrageous and and humiliating service. Never again. .

Good food and lots of options at the buffet. Friendly helpful staff. Prices were on the higher side. Overall very good.

We recently stayed at the Guildford Holiday Inn over the weekend of our sons wedding, which took place nearby. We found the staff friendly and courteous, rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a bit disappointing cold bacon, powdered egg and coffee from a machine that was Luke warm. However we ate in the restaurant in the evening and found it to be more organised with basic but delicious food being served. If we return to Guilford would most likely book again, but just have a continental breakfast.

First meal at the holiday inn,and the mixed grill was delicious,cooked perfectly.highly reccomend.ann had the pasta and enjoyed it

Stopped here for lunch. Ate in bar/lounge area rather than restaurant. Service was friendly and courteous. Food was very tasty with ample portions however the coffee (Starbucks) was horrible.

Hotel room was good size with a sofa bed which was great to have somewhere decent to sit to watch tv. Duvet not large enough to cover bed so it was cold! Bathroom very dated, chipped tiles and discoloured grouting. Bar- 10% added as ‘service charge’ which we had removed as surely pouring the drinks is actually part of the job! Breakfast-good selection and plenty of tables. Overall was good value as we booked well in advance - would stay there again as good location for what we needed.

Best hamburger in the bar I have had since I left Texas. Breakfast was also very good.it was served hot with French fry’s

The food here was simply delicious and of a very high standard. We were very impressed. They catered to all our dietary needs. Would highly recommend.

I've been at the hotel for about 25 minutes, sat down and waited, then waited, then waited some more. When every single person was served around me and waiting near 30 minutes for service. I gave up and ordered delivery food to my table at this Holiday Inn restaurant. I definitely get it, people from Eastern or Central Europe are seriously not welcome in rural towns in the UK. Our money is worthless. Frack, I have three more days at a hotel that refuses to give service to non-brits. Awesome.

This place deserves a good, if only Trip Advisor did not jump from average to very good.

Sólo una pequeña queja sobre el hecho de que me ofrecieron para poner la comida en nuestra habitación pero no me pidieron ningún detalle tarjeta mientras estábamos allí y me pidió que vuelva a bajar de la habitación. Era un poco incómodo.

They have done well with this place. They have had a recent upgrade which has transformed the bar area. Everyone is friendly and professional and the food is good

Comí aquí el viernes 21 de abril en la calle. Mientras que el arranque era aceptable la comida restante fue decepcionante. Tuve el buffet. La comida había sido sentados alrededor de demasiado largo. El pescado (salmón) estaba seco y el pollo aburrido. Verduras estaban lo suficientemente cálida.

James, el gerente del restaurante, hizo experiencia día almuerzo nuestra madre! Reserva de última hora, 3 pequeños hijos, pero vinieron todos juntos gracias a James y el equipo. Buena comida, comprometido equipo al otro lado de la mesa y nuestros niños hicieron sentir como parte de la experiencia.

Had a great dinner here the food and service were first class and it was a most enjoyable and relaxing evening.

We ate here twice and the service and food are very good. The menu is a bit limited but there is also a "special" each day. The braised duck leg was particularly good, and so was the baked cod. Desserts are really excellent. This is a step up from standard restaurant fare, but not quite cordon bleu. The main thing we liked was the relaxed atmosphere, attention to detail, courteous service and good, well cooked and well prepared food.

This is a perfect venue for business meetings and conferences with the added advantages of accommodation.

A nice stay rooms very clean and good size bathroom. Kettle fridge iron etc all in room. Would stay again if in area.

£20 meal deal with wine is excellent value - you can eat as much as you want over 3 course and it comes with one deink of choice - beer, wine or soft drink

There a good selection of food and drinks. The staff were prompt, pleasant and very helpful. We were a family of three and had both breakfast and bar meals.We rated it as quality food and excellent service, better than in many other hotels in this class..

If you want get away from the hustle and bustle of central Guildford then the Holiday Inn restaurant. Just off the A3, is a welcome relief. We went there for a light lunch in the bar area and found it a very welcome haven of peace. It's not cheap, but its value for money. The staff are attentive and helpful but leave you in peace if that's what you want. Would thoroughly recommend this place if you just want a drink or a light meal. Obviously there is the main restaurant and of course accommodation options but just to pop in for a drink and snack this worth the visit

I meet here in the bar area with friends a few times year and we always enjoy a variety of tasty bar snacks & salads and the service is always very good. Sweet Potato chips are really good.They also accept Tastecard giving 50% off food for up to 6 people but you must book ahead.

Food not cheap but comes out lush was worth the price. This hotel in General is so pleasant book once nearly every year. Rooms spacious pool warm hot&steam room fresh and nice gym.

The breakfast buffet seems to have shrunk over the years, but it is still possible to get a reasonable English breakfast. Under the hotlamp you will find scrambled egg, sausage, bacon, beans, hash browns (the English version), mushrooms etc. They are also cooking fried eggs which appear to remain under the hotlamps for a short enough time so that the egg yolks remain soft. They will also cook poached eggs for you on request, although it would have been better if there had been a notice to that effect on the buffet - I didn't read it on the menu until I had already got back to my table.The selection of pastries is not very inspiring - they are small and fairly hard and greasy in texture.There is no coffee station - the waiter asks if you would like coffee and in my case it didn't arrive, so I had to ask again. It was ok - a little bitter - but that one cup was my only cup. No-one offered to refill it. Although the service was polite, it was not very attentive.So in summary: ok, but not excellent.

We were slighty concerned when we arrived (the facade of the hotel looked a bit drab), but we needn't have worried. The staff, atmosphere and rooms (we booked into an exec room after a bit of advice) were brilliant. There is plenty of space, a swimming pool and its a 30 second hop onto the main road into London.

ate chicken burger and developed severe diarrhoea and vomiting same evening. ugh ! Did not eat anywhere else or anything else so I presume it was an isolated burger problem. Felt till for two days .

excellent, although we only stayed the one night we were made welcome, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the beds are firm and very comfortable also. Reception is easy and most helpful. Breakfast is superb with multiple choices, we will be revisiting if the need to visit Guilford reoccurs. Well Pleased

Good choice always hot can't fault it really but to be honest I did prefer the food in the bar but no complaints with the restaurant on the whole.

We ate breakfast and dinner here, the food was good, although a little pricey, ambiance in the restaurant in the evening could be better, it still looked like a breakfast restaurant, a few tablecloths or candle might help. the Staff were all very good and friendly.

The service in this hotel is exceptionally slow, there was only ever one person serving at any given time and food is overpriced.

Had a meal here today as we were on a flying visit to Guildford. Stayed at the hotel a few months ago but today was just a meal.Order taken promptly. Food was OK but overpriced at £13/£14 for standard pub grub. 25 minutes to arrive though, despite being very quiet.What really smacks though is the very, very small small print which adds a 10% service charge to your bill. Not wanting to confirm the stereotype of a tight Yorkshireman and asking for it to be removed, I paid it.The only reason I paid it was the lovely waitress, Zoe. Apparently "in training". Nothing was too much trouble for her. Very, very attentive and efficient.Note to the manager - without Zoe, this review would've been one star.

Food and Drink is the standard Holiday Inn menu and perfectly acceptable but as with many hotels typically over priced for the quality of what you receive e.g. £13 for a simple lasagne or pasta with chicken and tomato sauce which similar quality should cost no more than £9 in most other outlets. I ate in the restaurant on two evenings when I was resident in the hotel on business. On both occasions the service seemed a little shoddy with staff not being particularly effective at their role. Neither time was I seated with a menu as the process seems to be that guests have to be seated by the person in charge of the entrance till and then have to wait for the menu to arrive and for a drinks order to be taken by the allocated waiter (of which there didn't seem to be many on either evening despite the hotel being fully booked). It actually took that long on the 2nd night for the menu to turn up I gave up and had to ask for a copy of the menu from the chap who showed me to the table and wasn't looking that busy. The staff are perfectly polite and happy to advise and help. Apparently the food is all made fresh on site or at least this was the reason I was given by a chap in a white chef's coat to why they couldn't tell me the calorie content of the dishes when I asked (it was a nice touch that the chef came out themselves). Although I am a little suspicious that this is more of an excuse to why calorie content couldn't be advised as the menu is practically identical to the Portsmouth Holiday Inn. Having stayed in Portsmouth many times and eaten the same options as I ate here in Guildford I couldn't tell any difference in appearance in the menu items I had. So even if they are made fresh by the chefs they will be made to a fixed corporate recipe and cost controls would have a fixed portion size. From that it is relatively simple for a chain to calculate the calorie content per "standard" portion and add some small print to cover any inaccuracy do to local portion controls.Talking of small print there is some you need to pay attention to because the hotel has a policy of operating a "discretionary service charge" of 10% on all restaurant meals and bar meals. Although they say it is discretionary it is only discretionary on an opt out basis. I mean by this 10% is automatically added to the total bill and you have to cross it out if you don't want to pay it. They even have the cheek to add a line on the bill for you to add a "gratuity" meaning many will not even notice the additional 10% and provide an additional tip especially for business people on expenses. To be fair to the hotel it is perfectly legal and both restaurant and bar menus do contain the small print that 10% will be added to the bill but you need good eyesight and a pair of glasses. Unfortunately in my experience the quality and the service in the restaurant isn't worth the hotel premium let alone the extra 10% on top of the inflated prices.

Had an evening meals with friends there- good ambiance, friendly staff, & of course good foods... Main meal was very tasteful.Dessert was perfect... My friend's youngest will have her birthday the next day- I requested for a birthday cake & indeed we had one... Small gesture like that from there staff goes a long way... Left the restaurant one fully satisfied costumer...

After an absence of three years or so your reviewer had occasion to revisit the Lounger restaurant for a business meeting and was pleasantly surprised by the total changes which had taken place both in the quality of the bar food available but more importantly the attitude of the staff - nothing was too much trouble and regular checks see made to ensure that our group was being looked after properly - the food was excellent both fresh and prepared to order with a good varied menu- the reason for all this was a change of management with the staff highly motivated by the dynamism of the new manager who had decided that the whole place needed a change of direction and atmosphere -apparently it is a great place for business breakfasts too and Jake who looked after us said her breakfasts had to be experienced - in short for a business meeting this is an ideal venue and based on our experience is highly recommended - try it you will not be disappointed

Decent food, open until late and good staff. Worth a visit if you are local and I would definitely recommend it if you have a tastecard.

Ate in the restaurant with colleagues. Got the impression that most of the food was frozen or catering packed, despite the claim that food is locally sourced "where possible". Crayfish and avocado cocktail starter was OK. Rump steak was a reasonably well-cooked slab of beef, served with re-constituted chips and a small mixed side salad. Over-priced at just over £20 for the two courses. Had better food in local pubs for much less. Wines also overpriced - £23.50 for an indifferent Argentinian Malbec that was served much too cold. No real ales in the bar. Service slow.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions a bit expensive but quite enjoyable should be upgraded to a Crown Plaza .
