Hoi Shan in Gedling

Ordered a crispy spicy beef, wasn’t crispy or spicy. It was covered in a sweet and sour sauce. Not great at all could not eat it

It was the first time I used this establishment for a number of years. I ordered two meals, one for my wife and one for myself. My meal should have been duck with plum sauce. When I opened it, I found that I'd been given duck with pineapple. Both meals were mediocre. My duck was swamped with pineapple. Likewise, with my wife's meal, the meagre quantity of beef was greatly overwhelmed with the mushrooms.

last 4 takeouts have been missing parts of our order, meal for three £45 and didn’t contain sauces for meals and wrong dishes put it. duck only fat and dry, not worth the money and unapologetic staff

Awful. Food bland and was charged £7 for local delivery. The delivery took well over an hour even though quoted thirty minutes. Never again.

I Was ILL the next day and was sick 🤢 Not very nice at all the king prawn was like rubber I threw up the next day my stomach was as on fire

Hoi Shan provided excellent meal for 12, flavoursome and filling, on time. Very pleasant helpful staff. A dependable, quality take away we have used for many years.

Tasteless and dry, salt and pepper chips with 0 salt and pepper, no free prawn crackers, duck dryer than the Sahara, will not be returning

Food from here has always been good so I was a repeat customer, but no more. This time all the sauces had that sharp vinegar taste and they missed an item which I only noticed on arriving back home. Unfortunately I had the misfortune to have my phone on silent and they couldn’t find my house that was only built in 1840. They state not coming out again so shop credit offered. No use to me. Why would I go again when there’s so many others.

Awful, waited approx 1 hour in the take out, other people were served after and received their food long before. Eventually given food with no apology and without prawn crackers after a 37 quid order. Food very average, live in Ravenshead but will never return!! Be warned

Have a takeaway from here quiet regular, always spot on, more then happy to swap the peas in out our chicken fried rice for spring onion, and when asking about options on the menu, give you great advice and ideas of what to have. Highly recommend the place

It used to be really nice?I don’t know if they have a new chef but the food is so bland and tasteless we won’t be going back for awhile😔

Finally after a 2 hour wait our Chinese has turned up! I just wish the wait was worth it..... Don’t get me wrong, the food was cooked and hot but everything tasted so bland! In fact you could hardly tell it was different dishes. It turns out as well that unlike any other Chinese in the country, you don’t get free prawn crackers even when you spend £35

Best Chinese I've had in a long time. Flavours were lovely and you didn't feel thirsty afterwards, will definitely be our go to from now on

We have used this takeaway since moving to Ravenshead some thirty years ago. We have never thought it to be outstanding fair to say average. Granted the takeaway has only this week opened following the lockdown what was provided was the wise food I have ever been served it was awful. The Special Chow Mien when we opened it looked like previously cooked food that had been warmed up. The ribs were tough as boots and the soup like water. You won’t keep customers unless you up your game

Good quality reasonably priced Chinese takeaway. There is a car-park within about 10 metres and the Hoi Shan also does deliveries. They have an extensive menu and I have never been told of anything not being available (perhaps I may have bee lucky with my choices but I can only state my own experience). The waiting area is not very big but could perhaps be a bit more comfortable. All in all a very good service is provided.

You won't be hungry after eating one of their takeaways!

Been here tonight for the first time , smell off old fat from outside should of stopped me from wasting money , everything tasted off old grease , bought in ready cooked meats , poor effort

Family Run business that we have been using for nearly 30 years. Not the cheapest but one of the best chinese takeaways iv e er used.

Situated in the center of Ravenshead, this little take away's ambience is definitely nostalgic yet clean and presentable. We ordered a selection of dishes mainly our favourites which are lemon chicken (deep fried chicken with pineapple and a sweet lemon sauce) and spare ribs (sweet and sticky sauce with meat that falls off the bone) However, despite being slightly more pricey than other take aways near us I believe that in certain dishes this is worth it. They also offer delivery within the village for a bit extra which is convenient.

Went there on the recommendation of a friend when our local Chinese takeaway was closed for Chinese New Year. Was disappointed- we had Duck Chow Mein and Duck Mushroom. The duck was very tough and 50% skin. Will be glad to return to our local Chinese Takeaway

Lovely food, reasonable prices, friendly staff and food never seems to take too long. Been using this place for years and will continue to do so.

Had teriyaki beef and lemon chicken with chow mien and egg fried rice. Everything was tasteless. We were undecided if the lemon sauce was a sauce or something to wash our fingers in. Only saving grace was the crispy duck, although it's hard to go wrong with that.
