We have been coming to Hobson's Choice for years for various birthday parties, family meals, drinks with friends, and for the last few years we have been here every Sunday for the pub quiz. There is a large selection of food and drink available so there is something to suit everyone. The staff always offer service with a smile. Jane and Claire in particular are amazing, nothing is too much for them, they always go above and beyond and when you speak with them you genuinely feel like they care about what you're saying and you're not just another face coming through the door. We will miss seeing them every week and wish them both the very best for the future. It won't be the same in the town without Hobson's and all the great things that come from visiting this establishment. Thanks to all of the team for the good times over the years, this truly is the end of an era.

My wife and I have always loved coming here since we moved to the area 3 years ago. The food is always good and service is excellent. The team at Hobson's Choice are wonderful but special mention goes to Claire and Jane......they both are always smiling and cheery even if it's a busy one that day. We're there every Sunday for the quiz and they always remember our quirky drinks and dessert order before the quiz starts. Nothing is ever too much of a chore for them. We will miss them greatly when it closes in a few weeks :-(

We come every week for a quiz on a Sunday, food is mostly always good & a a good price. Staff are lovely, especially Jane & Claire, High regards to them both, they go above & beyond whilst still being professional, very kind & always service with a smile

Gutted about the news of hobsons shutting, been a big part of my life. Worked there and lived there in the past and for years drank there. All of the team are amazing!! What a great loss to the area. To the greeneking boss shut the Warren and keep hobsons. To the team and the regulars it's been a pleasure over the years 💔

Not as good . We went on a birthday meal for my son in law. There was 16 of us and the food did not come out in time. We know it will be shutting down in September and are sorry about this but standards must be maintained. Good luck to all of the staff

What a lovely pub. Shame you’re gonna shut the bloody thing. Absolutely heartbroken for all the staff. Louis and her staff have been fabulous over the years dealing with deaths marriage failed relationships. But the are always there to listen and serve beer and food.

Great place, the staff were so helpful and friendly. They looked after us so well, despite them not having jobs there in a months time. Such a shame this place is closing unnecessarily.

Dropped in while passing for a late lunch, seated right away. Good food, great price. Excellent staff. But very sad to hear that it's closing in the middle of September and sadly none of the staff are being sent to other sites. Such a shame. Good luck to all at the Hobson's.

Food was delicious as always. Staff were incredibly friendly considering the circumstances. Definitely go again. Staff are always courteous and helpful and make sure your time there is enjoyable.

We had 2 sunday beef dinners arrived after about 5 mins portions so small thought they were kiddies meals mash didnt tatste like proper mash roast we think were frozen beef was poor wont be going again the only good thing was staff

Regularly visit here as a family, our go to pub for food and drink. Today we visited as a couple and as usual a lovely meal was had. Great service , attentive staff and food was good as always. Can’t fault anything here!

Good service, great variety of food and really good prices. The lady behind the bar was very friendly. Only downside was the rice and chips were luke warm, but the meat was cooked perfectly and hot.

Staff were absolutely lovely and it was quite quiet in there which was nice. Unfortunately the tables were very sticky and my steak was very tough and gristly. Although the prices can’t be argued with, its good value.

Family dinner when in town seeing granddaughters food was good

My partner ordered a lasagna with garlic bread when our food was brought to the table they didn’t bring the garlic bread or drinks so we said about them and the guy went and got the drinks eventually then when he came over we asked about the garlic bread again and he said he was going to get of he went we managed to have both our meals and still nothing the lady who collected our plates asked how everything was and we explained and she said she would go grab some no need as we had finished already but she spoke to the manager who offered a refund which was appreciated but we refused for the sake of £1.50 is too much hassle just more disappointed with the service of the first lad who just straight up lied and didn’t want to know if you say your going to sort something stick to your word whole situation really just put a negative outlook on us wanting to visit again

Good for families the only bug bear I have is there Is no signage or written statement of when they stop the breakfast menu its very deceiving as the website also not display times in small print says subject to availability which means if they have it ? Says on website you can grab a full allday breakfast or .... so they should really put times of breakfast to stop confusion and conflicts. I class at as false advertising.

This place needs a major refurbishment. Decor looks tired and generally tattered. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.

76/24 Strewth but the staff here are exceptionally grand at making Sally 🐕‍🦺 and I feel special and welcome, plus their service is wonderful anyway. The food is well priced typical pub food but very tasty. It's always busy and you be advised to book in advance. PS the Greene King 20% Blue Light / Army Discount Service certainly doesn't hurt! Yet again Sally and I were well looked after in this place. We ate between shows at the cinema and Hobson's Choice is very well situated for this (or for drinks/meals before or after even your show) Better yet, my meal was with a 20% discount thanks to my Defence Force Discount card (blue light discounts) It's always crowded here so it pays to book...

Tried on Monday the special Grill deal.. food was excellent, could'nt fault it. generous portion, good value for money. The steak had that char grilled smokey taste... i'm going back soon....

Absolutely happy ending to a difficult day! Last decision to go here after entering somewhere 10 mins previously very unpleasant! Service especially BEV was fabulous helping in anyway! Even when she was moaned at she still had a smile for next customers! (Thanks BEV!) Definitely going back friendly face and friendly service also one other little shout out to the manager he got us in extra early last at last min booking, I rang when standing stranded in the eve on a Friday night and was squeezed in on time! Went to Hobson Choice for a quick meal before Cinema, good atmosphere, service I couldn’t fault and were happy with there service overall. Food was good for the price, the amount of food was very small, menu says onion rings, but u get “two” that couple lol. It’s a nice place but if there was more chips or meal size was little bigger for price, would definitely been a five star. For price and quality. Would come back again for sure,honest feedback.

Very disappointed with the food, no one was satisfied with the quality and size of portions. We use other Hungry Horse restaurants, so surely the food should be the same. Kids eat for a £1 on Mondays is very misleading.

I had fish and chips. The fish was lovely and hot, but the only warm chips let the meal down, staff very helpful and friendly.

I tend to eat here most days and I find the prices to be very good and the staff are always happy and smiling and the manger Louise is all happy to help if you need anything,I would highly recommend this place to eat or drink and I will be returning many times !

Great food at a sensible price happy staff

We called in for a Sunday lunch back in March and apart from the dinner being lukewarm the food was good. So we thought we would pop in again last Sunday. We were hungry so we had the top up, the only extra we got was Yorkshire puddings, which if you like them it’s ok. The meat, we had beef, was a different story. We both had scrappy bits of meat which was hard to chew and full of fat, the kind of thing you would throw to the dog. We appreciate we didn’t arrive until 3.00pm but if you run out of things it’s not a problem, the menu is vast and we could always choose something else, please don’t serve scraps and ask people to pay for them. Very disappointing, probably won’t bother with you again.

Just had a mixed grill. It was ok, standard meals from this chain.. Went there with the ex wife so that made it special. Staff were absolutely lovely. Very friendly and always seem to be there if required. Steady 8 out of 10...

Booked a table for 5 and found the atmosphere was great . The food soon came out in a flash but was good in taste and portion sizes. The menu consisted of deals for each day of the week so was a good attraction. The size of the menu was good as we couldn’t decide what we wanted. But it’s good to have a vast choice as everyone enjoyed their meals. Staff were pleasant and would be returning again in the future.

Very disappointed. Went for breakfast last Monday. Arrived in just before 9am when it was supposed to open. After 5 mins saw member of staff cleaning door glass, she said they would open in 2 minutes. 15 minutes after that we left cold and hungry. Their loss. We would have spent around £50 on breakfast ,as we did elsewhere. Glad they did not admit us as we had excellent breakfast elsewhere. It looked very outdated and shabby. Customer care was non existent.

We attended the Easter Breakfast. What a lovely start to our Easter Sunday, we took 4 children and 4 adults and everyone had a great time. As always the food was great value and the children enjoyed the visit from the Easter Bunny. The activity packs and chocolate treats were a lovely addition to the breakfast. The staff are always happy, smiley and happy to help, it's a great pub for a quick lunch or dinner with the family.

Out of town for a visit to Hobsons Choice on Monday 1st April for a breakfast. Parking is nice and easy and plentiful. I ordered the Mega Breakfast and my wife ordered the full English and was told that they had no Mushrooms? Considering a major supermarket is less than 2 minutes away, this surely could easily have been solved. My wife had a tea and i had my usual black coffee and the bill was around £18 ish. We was not offered an alternative to no mushrooms and no price reduction. The bacon was tasty but some was really fatty (see photos), i dont mind bacon rind as long as it is well done. The sausages a nice flavour, but the eggs could have done with another couple of minutes as a bit snotty on one of my eggs and my wife`s. The portion of beans for my Mega breakfast was poor, probably a spoonful! The hash browns tasty as was the toast. Could not fault the service from the 2 ladies, who were friendly and attentive. The tables were clean, but the place could do with a bit of an update (chairs a bit manky). Wouldnt eat breakfast here again but the main meals looked really good and the menu caters for all needs. Big shout out to the 2 ladies though.

This is our local pub and we come once a month for family meal. Everytime we come in we are greeted by friendly staff, quick service and lovely meal!!

Came here with a family of 12 to meet up for a birthday meal. Firstly, the place was filthy, the chairs you sat on looked like they had been stored outside for a year, toilets were not clean at all, we had to clean all our cutlery and glasses. If we hadn't drove 1.5hours to meet up we would have left. You got about 5 chips on an adult meal, I had a sizzler plate and the onions and peppers must have been fried for 10seconds. The staff were rude and unhelpful. Never again, wish we left the second we walked in.

Fantastic fish and chips. Staff very friendly. Prices very reasonable and good selection of menu. We arrived cold, member of staff gave us a table near radiator and switched heating on. Joanne was very friendly and told us of various offers. We'll be back very soon.

Today we decided to go for lunch and called in at Hobsons choice in Kettering. We were greeted in a friendly manor and were able to choose our table. My partner chose the Fish and Chips and the Mix it up Gammon steaks. The fish was excellent, no bones and not too much batter, and the Gammon, Wow what great value, and it wasn't the Special Offer day. Had it been so my meal would have been about £4 cheaper. We are regular customers and are will continue to do so. Thank you Claire for your service. DK

The breakfast Is absolutely amazing the staff makes you welcome I recommend to anybody the price is well worth it its not expensive at all reasonable prices nice and friendly

Food was great, the menu was very varied and was properly priced, BUT desserts are overpriced, dinner for two can be £11.99 + desserts at £5.49 ea is £10.98. Not value for money however we will visit again as the food was really good.

I was disappointed after my Thursday evening visit with friends, that I was unable to choose from the Super Specials menu, to have a main and a free starter or dessert, as there wasn't a main vegetarian option . We tried to book online the same day, but there was no availability. But we decided to turn up and chance it anyway, the car park was quiet but there was ample parking if it was busy. The staff were friendly and actually cleared our plates when we were finished and weren’t left there until we decided to leave, which a lot of places seem to do these days! The menu is typical of a Hungry Horse, which I haven’t been too in a while, so it was quite refreshing to see the different changes on the menu. The food came out fairly quickly and although we ordered separately via the app the kitchen were kind enough to send it out altogether. We didn’t get a checkback, which wasn’t an issue as for the most part the food was really good, except my brother’s burger was quite burn. But apart from that we couldn’t fault the food as it was all served hot and were decent sized portions. Overall, a nice meal with tasty desserts so can’t complain!

came in at around 8:30pm to grab something to eat but staff member said kitchen closed 30 minutes early due to being quiet. don’t really understand this concept, yes not many meals may be sold but surely it would make sense for kitchen to stay open just that bit longer incase unexpected walk ins arrive. from someone who works in the industry, you just never know with hospitality. in my opinion kitchen should realistically stay open until the actual closing time to avoid complaints and frustration towards guests. like the idea of changing a coke to vanilla coke or even cherry with a dash of syrup so drinks menu wasn’t too bad as didn’t get the chance to try the food

We called here on a long journey from Shropshire to Suffolk two adults two kids on Friday 16 February around 18:00. We stood at the "please wait here" sign for some minutes while the staff completely ignored us. Not "won't keep you a minute" like literally ignored us. Eventually seated but not informed we needed to order at the bar so we sat like lemons waiting for the order to be taken until we realised. Went to the bar, having seen the exceptional offer of two adults meals and two kids for £15 I placed the order and four lemonades and it came to £37. I pointed out the offer and established the drinks were around £10 so I explained politely I would expect the price to be around £25. The guy on the till asked a colleague who pointed out we hadn't ordered kids drinks for the meal deal, did that and it came down a little but not much. We ended up with a guy I think called Callum who I said to "if it's my fault then I just need to know what I've ordered wrong so I can change it" but was told the food order had already gone to the kitchen. He said it had taken offers off and proceeded to inform me of the various reductions. I stayed calm and again said "ok but this says £15 so it should be around £25 and it's not near that so if I've done something wrong can you explain what please?". He kept saying it was the till and the software and nothing he could do and was quite unhelpful. I got nowhere so in the end I said "Ok I'll pay and complain to head office and ask for a refund" to which he said "well it will come from them to here so we will be dealing with it anyway so...." in quite an aggressive manner giving the impression I'd be wasting my time as they would bin it off. I was getting quite frustrated by the attitude because it was one of "we can't do anything and no idea what's gone wrong but that's the way it is so tough" basically. I was on the verge of saying "stick it then" and walking out which I think was sensed by other staff as In the end Callum disappeared and a manager came and sorted it out. I had ordered one pudding from the wrong side of the kids menu but also one child's pudding had been put in as an adult one. He was apologetic, I was apologetic, how it should have been from the off, but the damage had already been done really. The problem is there are endless numbers of promotions here and it gets really complicated as if you order one thing wrong or they enter one thing wrong it can screw up the whole offer. To have staff who can't be bothered to work out why, blame "the software" and have a "tough" attitude when charging a customer way more than what they expected to pay, is not acceptable.

The service was excellent, polite staff. Food was tasty and well presented. I'm a wheelchair user. There was easy access, and disabled toilet was a good size, clean, and tidy. Would recommend

Service was poor, not enough people taking orders and a long wait for our order to be taken. Food arrived late and slightly cold. Drinks were pretty boring and not tasty as the menu suggested (mocktails) beer tasted stale. There was too much noise with children screaming, but it was a family eatery. The parents could have asked their children to be a little quieter but didn't or couldn't be bothered and allowed them to continue screaming. (Ours wasn't the only table that noticed)

Going slowly downhill, food looks really boring, no cutlery on the tables and the staff don't offer condiments , you have to go get them yourself.

Staff are always great, really helpful. Food is pretty good for the price. Toilets are always clean.

Ordered the rump steak. It was so tough and chewy. I told the staff waiting on tables that I couldn't really eat it and why. He replied that I had ordered rump which is a cheap cut of meat and is chewy!!! I said that I've had rump in many pubs before and it had always been fine to which he replied, oh we probably had a bad batch then. Poor customer service, I wasn't even offered a free drink. Wont be going there again.

Excellent and quick service, all our Full English breakfast's were served quickly and plentiful. It was cooked to perfection and great value for money for the amount that was served. Natasha who served our drinks and meals was very friendly and sociable and twice came to make sure we were happy with the food served, she was a credit to Hungry Horse chain and Hobson's Choice.

Had a veggie breakfast at Hobson's Choice, today. Have eaten this here before, food is great, service by Natasha & Olivia was great and price was good. However, on this occasion the portion has shrunk only 4 mushrooms & less than a spoonful of baked beans..less than last time. Mocha was fab though and all in all much better value than a McDonald's breakfast meal!

Located just off the A14, near a cinema and retail park, offering good pub food at very reasonable prices, including some special offers. They also have at least one real ale on offer.

Amazeballs I had avoided this place for years after several bad experiences. However, today my wife and I decided to give it a go.....AND WE'RE SO GLAD WE DID. The welcome was warm and welcoming and the place quite empty (1600). We ordered drinks, sat down and chatted (music not too loud) and perused the menu deciding starters and mains. The starters were delicious and just the right amount. Onto the mains and the chicken New Yorker was polished off by my wife who thoroughly enjoyed the moist chicken and sauce. I was concerned about the mixed grill but no reason to be. I ordered and got a blue steak, massive congratulations to Meghan. The meal was excellent and definitely excellent value, M&C would have charged a fortune and it still wouldn't have been as good!!!! With both meals and several drinks each, in the words of Arnie (sort of), WE'LL BE BACK......
