Had a delivery of £50 of food. All the food apart from prawn cracker was disgusting and no one ate it. It was all binned. Next day the food smelt so bad in the bin so glad we never ate it Disgusting

Food was delivered promptly and very hot despite the local road works, by a very polite driver, the food was delicious and plentiful, house curry, house chow mein etc large containers full, everyone was delighted and really looking forward to next time, One of the best chinese we all agreed we had ever had and would highly recommend. delivery to Torquay 17/2/24. Had a takeaway yesterday from here.. Had one a few months ago and it wasn't that great.. So gave it another try.. It's definitely getting better.. And hopefully it will get back to as good as it used to be.. Hopefully order from here again this week..

This is a very long standing and well respected Chinese takeaway in Paignton. I pass many other Chinese takeaways to get to it, which speaks volumes on how high I respected this takeaways wonderful food. I wish I'd taken some pictures of the food to show you. But please don't take my word for it, go try them yourself. There is something there for everyone. Enjoy.

Not sure whether ho mei have changed hands recently.. we’ve been going to this Chinese for years & for some reason, all of sudden, it’s awful. Order was repeated back twice on the phone and received incorrectly, food was bland, meat extremely dry and unbearably salty. Delivery took a long time and food was cold. Unfortunately not one positive to give. Won’t be ordering again.

Our go-to Chinese every time. This is our go-to Chinese. Every time. We live local and had tried out a few other Chinese take always when moving here 8 years ago but once we found this one we stuck with it. The food has never disappointed, the portions are great for the price! Most of the time i end up getting a lunch out of it too the next day because of the portion size. The staff are always very friendly, from the person that answers the phone to the people that drop the food off. They are always true the time span they give you when placing your order or it arrives earlier, never been late which is great. We love ordering from here. Highly recommended.

First time ordered from here.. very tasty chinese roast pork chow mein.very different... small noodles and not a mushroom in sight..which was nice

Delicious food with a wide variety of choices. 3 in 1 with barbecue sauce was delectable, Chicken and onion in black pepper sauce was enjoyable, king prawn fried rice was lovely and chilli squid was exquisite! Food arrived fast and was piping hot. Would recommend this amazing chinese to anyone in the area!

Was visiting Paignton for holiday over half term and tried this take away. I’m Chinese and I couldn’t fault it. Fresh ingredients freshly cooked & authentic taste. Friendly staffs too. As I know the new owner took over this business recently after being a lead chef in a Chinese restaurant in London for decades so probably that’s why a restaurant level food delivered to this small take away. I asked them should put the price up but they didn’t want to for now. Lucky local people.

We always have great food - tonight's choice was pancake rolls, special chop suey and prawn crackers. All served up with a friendly smile.

Excellent first meal from Ho Mei. Having recently moved to the area we have been warily trying out the local eating places. This one is a hit. Especially liked the chicken with pickled ginger and pineapple. Portion sizes are generous too. Will go back again soon!

I’m a regular at this Chinese! I’ve had so many bad, dry and tasteless dishes from here it’s actually a joke now. I ordered a simple dish tonight, chicken and mushroom soup with other various foods and not only was the plastic top of the soup dented and broken but leaked all over the bag. Needless to say I opened the soup and it was half full. My son ordered a simple noodle dish from them and it was dryer than cardboard. To be fair to them they did replace it but that’s not the point. Their food is going down hill, it’s not the same. I’ll be telling all my friends about this! DO NOT EAT HERE

Had a takeaway from here the other day and can't really say much about it to be honest.. Heard it had been taken over.. But thought we'd give it a try.. Wasn't as good as previous orders.. So maybe it has.. Things we'd ordered didn't taste as good as before..

Really excellent. Friendly, fast and efficient service, The open kitchen (which is unusual for a takeaway), looked busy and clean. Fairly standard Chinese takeaway menu, with a number of Specials posted around the walls. The chicken wings (x8 on the menu but I received 12 wings) with sweet chilli dip, were delicious,nice crispy coating with moist, tender meat that slipped off the bone. Friend had duck curry with fried rice and commented that the duck was the best quality he'd ever had from a Chinese takeaway. Very good prices, cheaper than many establishments of a much lower quality. Definitely be visiting again.

The Chinese food was so good that my two fussy daughters ate everything -- fried rice noodles, chicken balls, braised duck noodles. It's delicious.

Probably the worst meal ever! Special fried rice over cooked...not fresh so I presume pre cooked and kept warm. Mine..sweet and sour chicken hong Kong style very dry...hardly any sauce and again pre cooked and kept warm . Its a pity because it used to be a good takeaway...even the prawn crackers were over cooked . The one thing that was good...served very quickly...too quickly...hence the reason I think its pre cooked.

I don’t normally have Chinese take away. But I am very happy with the quality of the food especially chicken balls. I like the meat they use. I also tried chips, prawn ball, noodles with chicken and vegetables and egg fried rice. My son loves the noodles and rice. We will definitely order here again.

Cleanliness and Appearance: 4.5/5 Very cosy atmosphere, plenty of comfortable seating for you while you wait for your food. Nice decorations aswell. Service: 5/5 Their system is well organised, and the staff very polite. I ordered around £40 worth of food, and it only took around 10 minutes! No complaints here. Food: 5/5 I ordered the salt and pepper chicken, which was delicious - perfect level of spice, and full of flavour. Very reasonable prices, as £40 worth of food was plenty for a family of 5! Side note: the prawn crackers are to die for… Overall: 5/5 If you’re looking for a quick, cheap Chinese takeout in Preston then look no further than Ho Mei. Will be returning here for the foreseeable future!

Just had takeaway worst I ever had chicken balls so hard egg fried rice black chow mein no better just shocking how bad it could be I live in Lincolnshire here on holiday stay away this is insult to good food 😡😡😡

This used to be the best Chinese restaurant in Paignton. Tonight we had a delivery only sweet n sour chicken balls. You could of played cricket with the balls. Hard not the word, batter like concrete and the chicken dry and very very hard to bite. Even the dogs struggled with them. The boiled rice with the sauce was nice, that's why Ive given them one star. Expensive bowl of rice. Really gone down the pan, pardon the pun. Never again, they have lost our custom.

Ask for king prawn chow mein .got prawns with noodles..bought king prawn pekingese style which should be prawns in batter with chillie sauce .got prawns in sweet and sour sauce..food not very nice..I wouldn't go back .thete is better chineze and cheaper.

Great authentic Chinese takeaway! As a Chinese who loves Chinese food, the quality from this Chinese takeaway is second to none. Perfect way to end my week (and probably everyday of the week 😁)!

Avoid the beef chow main. Hardly any meet, really thin noodles and the sauce leaves horrible taste in ur mouth

I got a beef chow main tonight and the noodles were so over cooked I just binned it you could of hit someone round the head with them they were that hard shame really cos that’s the only reason I used them for the thin noodles

Fast service, but frankly I'd rather fast than eat here again. I doubt the chicken in my curry had ever seen a farm yard. Glutinous slop with flavourless, rubbery chicken. Cooked my own this weekend and it was far superior.

Good food ar a reasonable price but make sure you ask if what you order comes with rice. They seem to like soy sauce in their cooking so be prepared. Otherwise I would recommend chicken chop suey, which comes with rice.

Quite greasy and I don't think Szechuan is their thing - my spare ribs had a decent kick but were too sweet and too garlicky, and my wife's tofu was absolutely disgusting. Also, every other Chinese takeaway I go to gives me a free bag of prawn crackers with my order, but not here

Very great service! I was greeted by all of tye staff and the front of house service was especially exceptional, very helpful and insightful. Especially my server who seemed to really know the ins and outs of the menu. I highly recommend tye salt and pepper chips!!!

Had this monstrosity delivered inedible The gravy was like soup Even my Mum and the Dog turned their nose up at this !

When i phoned up they said 15-20 minutes . When i went down there had to wait another 30 minutes..

This place is normally one of the best places around for takeaway but this time the food was less than average and after waiting 20 minutes I asked how long my food would be and got told at least another 20 minutes so I asked should that not of been said at the point of order it would be over 40 minutes and the young lad behind the counter asked me what I expected him to do it won’t be any quicker as the order was over £50 for my family I waited I wish I hadn’t if I’m honest bring back the old service !!!

Excellent Chinese takeaway, always fresh and very flavoursome and the portions are ample. We had this takeaway many times in the last few years and it’s never a let down: after having eaten it, we never have that greasy feeling that sometimes you can get. The premises are very clean and the owners very friendly. I would recommend it.

Visited on 18/8/20 just on a whim whilst on holiday. Ordered Bbq spare ribs, Sweet and sour crispy chicken balls, Salt & pepper chips, Special curry with fried rice, Vegetables with garlic, Chicken with pickled ginger and pineapple, Soft noodles with beansprouts. The food was absolutely delicious. Good portions (we'll be having a reheated Chinese tomorrow). The staff were friendly and the price was reasonable. I've had many Chinese in my time including in London and New York China Towns but this is by one of the best. The spare ribs are amazing. All meat with next to no fat or gristle. If you like Chinese food and are in Paignton I would urge you to try it.

Took pot luck on this place as here on holiday.Was not disappointed! Absolutely top class Salt and pepper ribs and Black bean beef dish.Beef was superbly tender. Portions are big too.Could not fault it.One of if not the best Chinese takeaways I’ve ever eaten if I’m honest. Wouldn’t hesitate to use again if in town.10/10

We went to this take away one Thursday evening.we ordered by telephone and picked the meals up,we ordered hot and sour soup,salt and chilli spare ribs and a Singapore chow mien the food was very good especially the hot and sour soup which was very spicy and very hot but you couldn’t stop eating it even though it was burning your mouth.we would definitely recommend this takeaway and we will visit again next time in the area.

We've ordered from Ho Mei many times and tonight certainly didn't disappoint. Rang our order through for delivery and was with us 25mins later. Food piping hot and very tasty, good size portions too. The sesame chicken in sweet chilli sauce was perfect as normal and the spicy ribs were amazing. One of the best Chinese takeaways in the area

Didn’t even get chance to place my order, since moving to Paignton I have used Ho Mei as my friend recommended them highly. Love their food! However the attitude on the girl on the phone was horrendous. I can understand that it’s a busy time on a Saturday and the phone has been ringing constantly for them, but to tell me the card machine is broken and to ask me to pay cash and expect it to be ok during a time where a virus is taking hold. Then to answer all my questions with a blunt and rude sounding ‘no’ with no politeness. Will look for a new Chinese for tonight and hope that the girls attitude on the phone improves for next time. Would hate to give my business to another Chinese as they have always been good. Just a piece of advice, look after your regulars, a conversation such as the one I had today can make a bad impression.

Had a chicken curry. Wish I hadn’t. It was like a packet curry mix. Sloppy with processed chicken. Never again.

Without a doubt, the best. A unique twist of spices and a delicious smokey aftertaste - which remain unique to this take out. Portion sizes are always generous, lots of meat in select dishes. A double helping of various cooked rices. Thick sauces, as they should be, often accompanied by free extras like prawn crackers, (should you spend above a certain amount). The most delicious fries I have ever tasted, anywhere: Crunchy and dry instead of the usual chip-ball mush. Food is always piping hot, service is very quick on the busiest nights. I have never had any stomach issues from the food here. Reasonable prices for portion sizes too. Once a local resident of torbay, I spent many years as a loyal repeat customer at Ho Mei. The only thing I miss about Torbay since moving away, is in fact this take out. Absolutely superb in every respect, please give them a try, they may set new standards for you.

I’ve been using this takeaway for around 15 years and it never fails to disappoint! My favourite dishes are the BBQ Spare Ribs (the sauce is addictive), Crispy Beef, and the Singapore Noodles! Always had my deliveries on time and correct. Great staff, always friendly and helpful. Would recommend!!

Perfect for eating alone, eating a small meal and also for ordering to cater. Always come here for my Chinese, whether its a small meal or for a party. Never had any bad food and any mistakes are always resolved fairly.

Been ordering Chinese from this place for about 3 years now and have never been disappointed. My go to is always the deep fried chicken in spicy sauce with a fried rice and I always love it. My mum isn't a fan of spice but also loves it and the staff are always willing to provide a mild version for her. Portions always leave me full and satisfied and at a good price to. Would fully recommend this place to anyone in the area.

In two weeks we have been charged extra for prawn crackers when we have always had these free as we buy a lot from this chinese regularly and we were told delivery is now £2 as we are outside their radius ... funny how two weeks ago we were only charged £1.30 which is what we have always been charged and we haven’t moved !!!! ... Rather than continue a hostile argument we have moved our regular custom to Rickshaw Boys
