Really expensive. Put that to the side and get ready for Chinese with a modern twist and one of the best presentations of the segment. Place is super elegant. In my opinion, better than older and more reputed brother Hakkasan.

I can see why some people find this place boring. It is not exactly flashy or buzzing. The décor is understated and actually the place is hard to find as it is tucked away. The food however more than makes up for it and is the reason I keep returning. Without a doubt the best Peking duck I have ever tasted! There are various options of tasting menu - at my most recent visit we ordered a menu with just 5 dishes, but I have done up to 15 before. Every since dish is amazing. Great (and I mean really great!) cocktails too. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion. One of the few London restaurants I return to time and time again.

Tried their special Saturday lunch of Duck and champagne which is amazing value at £49pp. Overall the service is beyond reproach, helpful, watchful and immaculate presentation of all the food. The duck is outstanding and all the other dishes are superbly presented including gold dim sum dishes, and the usual chinese offerings were really excellent. The portion sizes are quite small but adequate and its the quality that wins hands down alongside the best service we have received for years from loverseas Chinese staff. It was a pleasure to take the family here, its not cheap but surely ranks as one of the best Chinese restaurants in London.

The restaurant was recommended and arranged for us by the Concierge at the hotel we were staying at. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, we had the "taster menu" where the chef chooses the meals for you (highly recommend it). At the end of the evening the chef came to see us to make sure we had enjoyed our meal and to find out what dish we enjoyed the most. Great service !

I love Asian cuisine and certainly like fusion food. What makes HKK stand out is their ability to make the dishes not like the mainstream Asian-Western fusion fare. Even their "wine" pairing is not the usual wine pairing - there's some sake and whisky-based cocktail.Ambience is nice and service is also great. If you ever wonder if it's worth going to a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant, this is your first stop.

Litt utafor Londons mest travle gater ligger HKK.

The resultant is beautiful with clean lines and warm wood, very inviting. I cannot have gluten and they were accommodating (although no dim sum, which is always sad). I thought the wine list was carefully chosen and included a glass of orange wine, which I never had come across in the past. I immediately ordered it after having a conversation with the sommelier and was not disappointed, The sommelier was engaging and the service was efficient and not over bearing. We started with soft shell crab and duck. The duck was the most beautiful looking and best tasting duck I have ever had, it was amazing, I would have been happy just eating that. Our mains again most certainly did not disappoint and the chef created a lobster dish for me ,that was gluten free which I can almost guarantee was better than the original. One of the best meals out I have had in a long time I will most certainly be back and would highly recommend. People mention the small portions, but I am still very full 5 hours later so I would say if your order correctly you won't leave hungry!

Came with the other half as I like to try different restaurants and their menus. We had the tasting menu which was £100 per person so price is on par with other michelin star establishments. Cocktails were nice and most of the food was quite nice, however, one or two of the courses were quite underwhelming. It may be that I just have high standards for food so 4 stars is already great. We had a couple of out-of-town colleagues in the office, and the boss wanted to go for dinner. It took us most of an hour to make a decision; there are so many choices in central London, but few that struck everyone's fancy and would take a table of 6 last minute. A coworker mentioned HKK, (although she really meant another restaurant owned by the same company) and off we went.It was amazing. The tasting menu is an experience. Half of our party ordered the vegetarian while half of us went with the meat and fish. Every dish was excellent, mixes of interesting flavors and textures, curious non-obvious combinations, and beautiful colors. The Peking Duck was better than any I have had in the West, by far. The sea bass is prepared with crispy skin. The rhubarb jasmine and roasted barley ice cream was so flavorful and unusual. The service was lovely, and each dish was not only described but some dishes were also explained in the order the pieces were to be eaten so as not to lose more subtle flavors.I love tasting menus anyway, as they come across like edible art. HKK's is excellent and we'll be planning to take more of our London visitors in the future.

We ended up here by mistake. We needed a quiet business dinner and decided that we both fancied Chinese cuisine. My host had heard of a new place near Liverpool Street and asked his PA to book there. We entered to find a very swish place which was only serving the tasting menu. Once we realised it was part of the Hakkasan empire, we also realised we were going to have problems putting it through on expenses. Fortunately, the cooking was excellent enough that we were happy to split the bill between us...although I don't think I could afford to eat like this very often. The menu started with Wagyu Beef and included spiny lobster soup and Green Abalone. Each course was, as you would expect, a minature work of art and it all tasted wonderful. If you are in the City and want somewhere a little bit special - and let's face it, most City restaurants charge a lot without offering anything that special - then HKK is a safe bet to impress (although it will drain your wallet).

Having eaten at HKK a few times, I am happy to say that the high quality of food and service is being maintained. On this occasion one of our party was a pescatarian and HKK seamlessly adapted their taster menu to allow this guest to enjoy the meal with adjustments made wherever necessary. No need for her to go for the full vegetarian option. Perfect, the way it should be.My only personal gripe is noise levels. It was difficult to hear the server's food introductions over the combination of guest and music.

Took my wife (who is Chinese) here for a pre-Valentine treat. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has a calm and classy atmosphere. The first question we were asked as we were taking our seats is 'would you like a glass of champagne'. Knowing that at least some of the menu options included drinks, we declined and asked for the menu. We were presented with only one, 'Duck & Champagne'. Initially we thought it was the only lunchtime option, but we noticed that other diners were looking at a more extensive menu and asked to see it. We understood that we were being pressured to go for the option that was most profitable for the restaurant. This was the tone of the whole meal, passive aggressive up-selling at every turn. Some water madam? My wife without thinking immediately said yes - £6 kerching! The food was good, with the duck being the only dish that dissapointed. A chunky breast, hand carved into thick slices, didn't bare any resemblance to the Beijing staple we know and love. Dumplings were delicious, but tiny portions did more to tease than satisfy. Vegetables were fresh and moresome.A nice atmosphere and some decent food, but the experience was spoiled by up-selling and the bill of close to £120 for two was poor value for money.

This was my second visit having previously enjoyed their set 7 course menu. This time the shorter set menu was a 5 course affair including several of the items I had really enjoyed previously (specifically the Peking Duck). In summary:Positive1) Service excellent, ambience very good2) Food outstanding. I couldn't fault any dish, not withstanding my comment3) The dim sum in particular was excellent, the best I've hadNegative1) Peking Duck had changed. Previously it was a pretty good portion of duck with several pancakes. Now it was a very small portion of duck on a bread base. This was very disappointing and looked quite cheap considering the £68 cover. The taste was very good, but there was so little of it.I came back as I felt last time was good value (recognising the quality of food & service on offer). This time I'm not sure I'd return if the direction of travel is smaller portions (of essentially the same food).

My first visit here was for dinner and we went for the tasting menu a few months ago. Then I finally tried the famous peking duck and champagne menu available on weekends. The food is flawless; each dish presented artfully and designed for maximum pleasure of one's tasting buds. If one tiny complain, the serving portions could be more generous - although I reckon is my glutony that always keep me wanting more of the duck. Honestly, at the end of the meal we were all stuffed. This is a special occasion restaurant, the ambiance is chic and there is a lot of staff around giving proper attention at every step of the meal. I would go back for repeats both of the duck menu as well as the tasting menu. Price wise I would say it is not cheap but it is worth every penny.

We went for the tasting menu with Orchard flight. The Orchard flight is a non-alcoholic wine pairing and it really works. Only downside is that you get very little in each glass. T should have at least been 50% more. Also, as the evening progressed, they were brought to the table more and more ahead of the course which meant unless you restrained yourself you would drink it all before dinner. Food: the Peking duck is superb. The soup served is divine. Scallops are as expected, good, but at this price you almost expect a little more. The dim sum was a little let down, only one out of the three was amazing. The other two pretty standard. Both puddings were of high quality. For 168 a head with only one cocktail and the Orchard flight it's a bit pricy. Would most likely go back for their champagne and duck deal.

My hubby organised a Surprise 40th Birthday meal here on a Saturday evening in the private dining room. Loved the intimate space, beautiful simple classy decor and its minimalist feel. We had our own private Waiter called Jerome who was just incredible, professional, friendly and very attentive and patient. There was a real mixture of dishes at our table including a gluten free friend and they did it all perfectly, remembering orders and keeping cool. I loved the explanations between courses, it reminded me of Afternoon tea and this made it feel like an experience rather than just another meal. I had a B Day cake and felt very special when the lights where dimmed and everyone sang Happy B day too me, the cake was cut and given to friends too which was nice. Loathed that first course, the consistency and taste where yukky, it did look cool on the spoon though and made a good photo! I loved all of the rest of the food, the textures and tastes and the presentation where spot on, as a vege I can be picky but just loved all the dishes, and the dessert was divine, just lush. The only thing that could be a little better is the non alcoholic cocktails, the 3 on the menu all had ingredients in that didn't sound too appetizing. I went with Jerome's recommendation which I loved (although less ice please at £7.50 a cocktail). Had a wonderful 40th here, to be remembered, loved the menu, staff, decor and ambiance, thank you.

When we saw that they offered an eight-course Chinese New Year tasting menu for vegetarians, we obviously expected some good food. Unfortunately, all dishes of the menu tasted virtually the same- there was no highlight, no dish that left any impression on us whatsoever. I don't mind delicate food, but I do mind tasteless food and so I complaint. While the head chef wasn't amused to learn about our views of the food, the manager dealt with our complaint in a professional manner and gave us 30% off. I would not recommend this restaurant to any vegetarian, and I doubt the meat is significantly better. Give this one a miss.

The food was generally very good - the dumplings were a highlight as was the crispy duck (although portions on this were disappointingly small). It was a good lunch, not hugely memorable, but at a £130+ per head price tag including a few drinks this is a long way from justifying value in my opinion. You. This was a very good experience. Maybe a bit pricy but at the end we thought it was worth the price. Very classy interior, quiet background music, which didn't interfer with the conversation across the table, unlike many restaurants in new york. We took the tasting menu. The different compositions were well balanced. The service was excellent. The resturant is well known for the Peking duck. We were not dissapointed. Neither the dumplings, they were delicious. The dessert, a chocolate mousse, well if you have tasted better, let me know. Will we return another day, most probably

This review is going to sound almost universally negative. Our experience was not negative, but we expected much more from a restaurant with such a high reputation that positions itself in the upper end of the market. Maybe our expectations were too high. The serviceIn the first 10 mins of being seated, we knew the service was going to be a bit hit and miss. After our cocktails were placed on the table, mine required a spray of Lagavulin to complete the effect. First the waitress came over and sprayed. Then the sommelier, 20 seconds later. It was funny at the time, but masked an increasingly obvious failure in the service level. The waitress spoke in such a heavy accent (French) that it was really difficult to understand all of our options. It took quite a long conversation to get our hands on a menu so we could see the differences between the eight and five course tastings. There was an obvious language barrier that made for a slightly more uncomfortable experience than you’d expect. A cheeky 13.5% instead of standard 12.5% discretionary service charge was added to the bill. The foodWe opted for the five course, and thought we’d have the wine pairings only to be told that it was only an option for the eight course menu. Fine. We stuck with our cocktails and opted for a glass of wine later on. The cocktails were great. The wine was decent, nothing groundbreaking for the price point. Our amuse bouche was fantastic. A small and delicate egg-shaped treat, with gold-leaf flickering on top. Delicious. Next came a beautifully cooked hand-dived scallop. The dim sum that followed were ok. Nice juicy king prawn in the first, crab and scallop in the second. The third was a fusion dumpling - fried puff pastry containing foie gras. It didn’t work for us, with the fried oil completely dominating any other taste. The third official course contained three separate elements of a peking duck - breast, crispy skin and duck pancake. It came with the theatre of chef carving new two the table. The skin was a little too fatty for us; a bite causing duck fat to ooze from the skin. The pancake itself, instead of being steamed and used as a container for the duck (the star of the dish) it was part fried, meaning the taste of the pancake took over. Our mains were probably the biggest disappointment. My wife opted for the fish, the vessel in which it was served she described as ‘resembling a microwavable Tupperware container.’ She described the taste as ‘bland, watery - almost no flavour to the fish. It’s like they defrosted it.’ I declined to share in the experience. My wagu beef dish was flavoursome in parts, but the balance of the dish was off. The saffron element of the dish dominated so much in one particular mouthful that I thought there was something wrong with it. My experience with saffron is that it should be used with restraint and caution, or the bitterness can dominate. It was way off. Redemption of sorts came from the dessert. Nicely presented, delicate and sweet without being overly so. OverallThe service wasn’t great. The food was hit and miss, ranging from delectable to distinctly average. There are many many more restaurants in London at this price point that far exceed the experience we had at HKK. Must do better.

My girlfriend and I got to HKK an hour before our booking as we knew we could drink at the bar. The staff were smiling and so friendly not rushed off and not too chilled they were just great to be around. They offered if we would like to sit down sooner or still take our booking time. We decided to sit down sooner I guess they just had a cancellation as the restaurant was full. We sat down and was greeted again all in good time we were asked what we would like to drink and what menu we were choosing as it's a tasting menu. One of the staff recommended a champagne and I must say the best champagne I have ever tasted. He even printed off the menu we chosen with the bottle of wine added. Each dish that came out was amazing. A mushroom that isn't a mushroom it looked so real and tasted so good with the wagyu beef tasting so so good. Even when the duck dish came up. One of the chefs would bring a whole duck that the waiter explained it had been cooked and cured over 2 days and when I put the first bit in my mouth I didn't want to chew because I wanted it to last forever. Every dish was made with flavour and skill here. Better than Any other place like Nobu or sushi samba and I even have to say Hakkasan even though it's part of Hakkasan. At the end the chef came out and greeted us gave us a copy of the menu we had and stamped it. We were made to feel so special we left talking about it all night.Amazing!A must go!When you go please just savour every mouthful!Still so happy now and it's Monday and I went Saturday!

Almost as expensive as the Fat Duck. For 4 of us (3 bottles of wine) it was £552 including a whopping £65 service charge. However, the service was exemplary and the food delicious. I've marked down ambience because a large party of very noisy people made conversation very difficult. Hard to avoid being an evening in the City.

Every now and then, one has an outstanding meal that deserves five stars, five bubbles, five everything. This is one of those meals. We had the HKK tasting menu which involves six savoury courses followed by two sublime desserts. Every course knocked the ball out of the park! Everything is cooked to total Chinese perfection and the final dessert was epic. Each course arrives with a narrative delivered by a highly trained waiter - albeit with a pronounced Eastern European accent (Vilnius meets Beijing) and, provided you choose the right white and red (we did), you are in for an exceptional evening of culinary opulence. The pricing isn't for the squeamish and if you drink sufficient quantities you are looking at £160 per head. Of course, it doesn't have to hurt that much and you can go easy on the vino as required. A fabulous meal and I heartily recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent evening out!

We went in the evening and enjoyed a taster menu (there was a vegetarian option to the taster as well). 8 courses I think. As my wife is not a big drinker we did not have wine pairing. We ordered a bottle of Chenin Blanc and, in addition, I had a glass of red with my Peking Duck. Good food attractively served. Drinks, including jasmine tea a bit sear.Difficult to find restaurant if you do not know where it is. It does not have a name outside, just "88" when you get to Worship Street.

This restaurant is the perfect place for outstanding Chinese food. Service was up for improvement though as we have been asked up to 3 times whether or not we d like to order an aperitief. Moreover, after declining since having had drinks already elsewhere we felt that the waitress wasn't happy with our choice. Next thing we knew we received only two menus instead of 4 at our table, moreover the menues only showed the vegetarian choices and wine pairings instead of both options, being non-vegetarian and vegetarian options.Apart from the little hick-ups in the beginning and once we were up and running for the 8-course menu including wine pairing, everything was back on track and we were not considered persona-non-grata any more. On the contrary, we really enjoyed the food and even our waitress became more likeable. The peking duck was sublime.8 courses dont weigh heavy on your tummy which we really liked and the drinks-pairing were very innovative and therefore very enjoyable, if you opt for this restaurant, make sure you take the full monty and a lot of cash with you.Last but not least I d very much recommend this restaurant for business dinners as well as such occasions, where you still want to be able to have a decent conversation instead of just having to shout at each other....

Lunchtime 8 course tasting menu with the beverage pairing - A really amazing experience which I cannot rate highly enough. Food is inventive, exquisite and wonderfully served. We are very slow eaters and talk a lot so the meal strung out through the afternoon... in all we took over 3.5hours but we were never rushed or hurried - impeccable service & perfect timing. I would absolutely recommend the beverage pairing... some really delicious and unique wines, sometimes a specially created mini cocktail and then to finish with desert we had an ancient Glenmorangie Signet - considering you get 8 different drinks (1 for every course) for £48 it is excellent value for money.Stand out dishes: the Label Rouge chicken and foie gras puff - we all took a bite and then literally fell about in ecstasy - I promise you have never tried such absurdly decadent, rich and utterly gorgeous crispyness in you life. And then of course the HKK signature cherry wood roasted Peking duck. Duck like you have never seen or tasted before. On another level entirely... expertly carved at the table by your Chef.'A truly exceptional experience' we all agreed as we tottered out into the bustle of London's rush hour with full stomaches, massive smiles and wonderful memories - the happiest 3 lads in London :)

Basically you set and enjoy your company but you leave the choice of dishes to them. You could chose your drink though :)We had 8 courses set, which was more than enough. My advice for you if going for dinner is you go hungry, make sure you only take a light salad for lunch. Did you hear me :)Be hungry ;)

a wonderful experience for my birthday treat. having already been to sister restaurant, Hakkasan, we were excited to be sampling HKK - and we were not disappointed!8 course tasting menu with HKK's inspired pairing. Starting with scallop and sake, you know the pairings are going to be something else! We also had Malbec with the beef, so not all pairings were off the wall actuallyEach course was a work of art really and this was the complete dining experience. Wonderfully efficient staff, a skilled sommelier and exquisite food in lovely surroundingsThank you HKK and my beautiful daughter and son-in-law for taking me there!

The best meal I've had in a quite a while. We went on a Saturday night when the only option was the tasting menu. Out of the 8 courses, I'd say 6 of them were superb and the other 2 were pretty good. The service was excellent, and the icing on the cake for us was the non-alcoholic paired drinks. My wife and I don't drink and we're usually stuck with diet coke and sparking water - at HKK they have a full non-alcoholic paired drinks option. It's was absolutely superb and I'd...

Option 8 vegetarian set menu with non alcoholic and alcoholic pairings for my sisters Hen.HKK continues to amaze me. I was nervous having been here 2x once for business, then for my birthday and now for a hen that they may have lost their flair. But the veg menu, dish after dish was fabulous. Honestly, I was so impressed and so was the hen group who at first couldn't justify spending this much but left with raving reviews and all of them will now go back with partners and other friends. The staff were excellent, from chef to drinks waiter to food waiter. And Rita who took my booking, for my extremely fussy group (non onion, cheese etc....). Thank you so much for making my sisters hen a wonderful experience.
