HK Place in Brighton and Hove

We absolutely love this place: the food is so good and reasonably priced, the stuff is very nice and helpful and it’s very clean in the restaurant. Also dishes are prepared really quickly. We visited it several times during our trip to Brighton and will be back for sure (our fav is beef with flat rice noodles)

Love the egg fried rice and the happy, cheerful staff 😋 I always return because of the positive vibes and good food.

I was attracted by the rating, the food was okay but my friend ended up having food poisoning symptoms and vomiting all the food after consuming - it was utterly disappointing and I highly doubt the food hygiene was up to par.

This place is so good I came back twice in 2 days, me and my girlfriend were greeted so kindly at the door and ordered food to share as well as our own dishes, they recommended food portions for just the two of us and were so quick with service, you can see the cooks hard at work and they all thank you as you walk out, I wish I lived close to this place because I would be an extremely regular customer

Great place with good price and portions some can even go below £10 a meal!!, MY GO TO hk restaurant whenever I crave for HK food. I ordered delivery and dine in multiple times and all my friends fell in love quickly with the place! Must recommend for Asians by Asians ! Their chili oil is very spicy as well 😫🫶

We did simple takeaway while passing through Brighton. It was difficult choosing among so many tasty sounding options on the menu but it turned out to be a roast duck kind of day as Jules and I settled on duck with rice and baby bok choy, and duck egg noodle soup. The duck was a little more fatty than I prefer but the flavor was great as were the other components of both dishes. The broth was great, the veg still green and toothsome, the sauce and rice also hitting the spot. If we are ever in Brighton again, we will make a beeline for HK Place.

The beef rice with smooth egg is medium to delicious. Hot lemon tea is made from lemons, not tea bags. Cheap, good quality and friendly service.

Wow. Loved the food. Loved the price. The lady at the entrance is an absolute treasure. Would recommend the spicy aubergines with pork and beef brisket on rice. wontons lo mein were also really good. Everything was good and great value for money. Would recommend to locals and tourists alike. The place is really small but service is quick.

Pig intestines are delicious Beef Brisket and Wonton Lo Noodles, I can’t even taste them to this level when I go back to Hong Kong Frozen lemon tea is just average I feel thirsty after eating, so I want to buy a Coke

I very rarely find myself leaving reviews but this place is phenomenal! The service was great and the food was so flavourful. I had the beef brisket soup with spicy Szechuan sauce, and my partner has the beef brisket lo mein with wonton dumplings and it was all a melt in your mouth, flavour bomb! Thank you so much and we will see you again soon! Can’t wait.

The best duck rice in Brighton! It was crispy and the sauce was delicious. The staff was all so so friendly, and genuinely nice. Thank you! Place is a little small with not many tables but just wait the turnover is fast. Very efficiently run. Don't miss this place when in Brighton.

My friend insisted to this HK style restaurant for a soup noodle. I haven’t ate an authentic HK style soup noodle for long time. Really miss the taste of it. Food served fast and waiters are all friendly. I sit outside the bench which is so chilled. but seems the inside is quite small. But the food quality is superb. It’s a restaurant deserves a revisit.

This authentic Hong Kong-style cafe (茶餐厅) serves excellent beef noodle soup. The flavor is identical to what I enjoyed in Hong Kong before, although a little bit salty.

Authentic and big portion! Definitely will visit again.

The soy sauce chicken rice is very delicious, the soy sauce is sweet and goes very well with the rice, and the chicken is very tender! The store thoughtfully provided a bowl with chicken bones. The most amazing thing is the store’s unique chili oil, which is so delicious that I want to take it home!

Quick service and great food! I had the stir fry king prawns with rice and XO sauce. The taste was amazing, price was affordable and the staffs were friendly! Must try if you love Asian food.

Delicious, fast service and incredibly welcoming! A great gem in Brighton - full of flavour, good value and one of those authentic spots! Have had both delivery and eat-in, always consistently great in flavour - deep portions and a fresh taste! When we’ve dined in, the staff are always consistently friendly, super attentive and welcoming! Especially the person on the till - a family feel, and a super cosy spot. There aren’t many places to sit so possibly book, but they are accommodating! Food is always quick and cooked well. Highly recommend the roast duck or beef brisket- yummy! Dishes are around £10-14 per person on average. Great value!

Food was fine. Staff was helpful, quick and all smiles. But be aware that as soon as the place gets very busy the boss starts yelling at her staff to put pressure on customers leave their tables. I happened to be in the queue to order more food and drink and overheard her yelling in Cantonese (glad I understood) at her staff to quickly free up OUR table for new customers! We've only been eating there for about 30 minutes as a family of four. One of the most shocking experiences I've had in a long time.

Authentic, great Cantonese food, fast efficient service and extremely kind staff. I was sitting by the bar when a guy came in to borrow the bathroom, greeted with warmth by several staff all among each individual busy working. Lady behind the register super kind, she was nice to everyone, Cantonese, non-Cantonese Chinese and other nationals.

Absolutely love coming to HK place for food, the staff are great, kind, good sense of humour, very welcoming. I went with a friend and had Cantonese duck with egg friend rice and some chicken gyozas. The duck was incredible, so tender, juicy, crispy skin, it was honestly mouthwatering. Me and my friend stopped talking as we were enjoying it so much. The egg fried rice is great, fluffy rice, light and springy, not heavy or oily at all. The gyozas were great, I think the duck and rice overshadowed the gyozas - but I did enjoy them regardless! What an incredible find! This hidden gem offers the option to grab your meal to go or savor it right in their cozy establishment. Genuinely the best Chinese food I have ever eaten in Brighton. The atmosphere was busy, service was friendly and no nonsense. We had Beef Brisket Curry with Rice (fantastic) Brisket Soup in Broth with Noodles (very good) and some really great crispy squid that was some of the best I've ever had. This place is a must visit!

Friendly staff who were very helpful in pointing out which foods I could eat with my low fodmap dietary requirements (requesting no garlic and onion). The Cantonese roast duck brought back wonderful memories of my time as a student in Hong Kong. This is where to go in Brighton for authentic Hong Kong food.

Ordered their satay beef noodle soup, roast duck rice bowl, along with a plate of salt and chili squid as starter, just amazing!! Their homade chili is to die for too 😆 Prices are very decent, especially for students. The staffs are all very friendly too. Definitely coming back here again!

Really enjoyed my 2 dining experiences here. Staff are very friendly food is great. When I say great, more specifically I mean it is of the quality found in Asia which is hard to do in the UK. The price to match the quality is superb and I am a big fan of details such as the filtered water on tap and the setting within the sun what unconventional dining space. I would definitely come here with family friends or dates, however it would be complicated with a large group.

A very good restaurant, all the food ordered are delicious, the braised sauce is just right and salty, the frozen lemon tea is light but very refreshing, and I really like the pork rinds in the snack Sanbao. I thought the portion was quite large, but I was very hungry but couldn't finish it and took it away. The proprietress is very enthusiastic and will come back to eat if there is a chance. btw I ordered car noodles and my friend had beef brisket rice!

My go to place for a tasty and well priced Chinese meal in Brighton. Portions are generous and tasty. Beef brisket over rice one of my all time favourites. Owner lady is always cheerful and welcoming.

The most authentic eatery of any type I’ve eaten in for some time. I had the wonton egg noodle soup, superb. If I lived closer, I might be here most days

Felt welcomed upon arrival, didn't wait long for food. Ordered the beef brisket and tendon with rice, generous portion at an affordable price. Not to mention the juice/sauce that came with the beef, so flavoursome🤌🏼 (yum yum yum)!! Having tried the other Hong Kong restaurant nearby as well, would deffo come back to this place! 加油👏🏼

Great little HK style Chinese. Well staffed, friendly greetings and spotlessly clean. Prices reasonable, food excellent. This is how food was in the better London Restaurants in Chinatown in the 1990s. No more schlepping into London, HK Diner does it for me. Informal, busy and buzzy. We will be back soon! Thank you.

Most amazing chicken wings ever crispy and juicy even when ordering. My fabourite is the cantonese duck with rice as the portion is so good all the time. This is my favourite place to eat in Brighton for so many reasons. I always order from them as I live kind of far to just go eat there but I have once and they were so friendly offering to make my partner stuff that wasn't even on the menu. It is great priced and the actual food is some of the best I've had. LOVE this place with all my heart haha

Wide variety of selection and delicious food

This is fantastic authentic Hong Kong food. If you’ve been to HK and experienced the culinary delights of the eateries around Kowloon, then you’ll know what to expect. If you haven’t, don’t expect your traditional anglicised Chinese food - this is more exciting, experimental and, in my opinion, much nicer. Give it a go. At prices like this, why not.

The single best Hong Kong food joint in Brighton. The chefs know the food inside out and the staff make you feel like you’ve just arrived home in time for dinner. The beef brisket and wanton lo mein is the best I’ve ever had and I’m from Singapore!

My mum really rated this place and I thought I have to give it a go. Whilst there are lots of Chinese restaurants around, not many specialise in the food people from Hong Kong like to eat. Here at HK Place, the food is just like it is in Hong Kong. The taste, the quality and the atmosphere. Regarding those who moan about the service. It's not a silver service, or click your fingers at your server kind of restaurant. It's more like what you get in hawker markets and indoor hot food centres (usually in the same building as indoor markets) in Hong Kong. You order and pay, then the server brings the food to you. That's the culture and we don't think there's anything wrong with this. The food is excellent and I recommend you try.

Normally enjoyed their food and fast service, but not yesterday. It was 1pm, the restaurant was empty. At least 4-5 staff around. Order wanton noodles for two of us and was kept waiting for 30 minutes or more. 1st plate arrived, but the second plate for my wife didn’t arrived. Had to get up and asked why and it was another 10 minutes before the second dish arrived. The wanton was nice but the noodles wasn’t as tasty as before. Probably won’t be going back there again after how we have been treated, going elsewhere.

You have to try this place! My family and I visited this restaurant and were blown away. Very friendly staff, very good service and food is cooked and prepared to a high standard. 👍🏽👍🏽Will definitely be returning.

This is the second time me and my partner have been to this absolute gem of a restaurant. In fact I was dreaming about having food here the entire day, remembering the first time we went, and just how good the food was. The staff are so lovely, friendly and helpful. Onto the food, all I can say is WOW! Absolutely delicious and full of flavour, their home made chilli sauce is to die for! I had the Roast Duck Soup Noodles and my partner had the Beef Brisket in Sauce over Rice-both dishes were delicious and full of flavour. I'm always partial to food from Asia, food from this continent is the best in the world-hands down! They know about flavour, what to do with the food, what to serve with it, and HK Place most certainly didn't disappoint. I enjoyed every single mouthful, as did my partner and we'll definitely be back here again. This restaurant is like a hidden gem of Preston Street, I can see where those that are familiar with the cuisine of Hong Kong give this restaurant so much praise. I may not know anything about the cuisine of Hong Kong, but tasting this food, I could tell that the quality, and taste was superb. Also when we left, the lovely ladies at the front asked us how the meal was, we told them it was great and they thanked us. Excellent customer service and food-what are you waiting for? Go there already!
