Fantastic meal. We shared 3 starters and one main course and dessert between two of us. Every course was delicious. Bill £100 and we had 2 glasses of wine each and husband a pint of beer.

Best fish and chips I've had in all our stays in England!

The slightly pricy Sunday roast made total sense as there is no comparison in quality to any place I've ever been. From reception to the stuffing balls every thing was perfect and delicious. The one of a kind that only grandmas could do.

Staff are so attentive and considerate. Pistachio cheesecake was amazing. Unfortunately my wagyu burger was cold, but they kindly removed it from the bill, after offering to do another. Dauphonoise potato, slightly underdone but had great flavours! Love the locally sourced approach. For me, overpriced but glad we tried it.

Fantastic afternoon at Hixon Salisbury, warm welcome, attentive service, the food (and wine!) was great and very reasonably priced. Thank you, we will be back.

So delicious ! Great sized portions. Lovely setting …. The restaurant Salisbury has been missing !! All this AND reasonably priced !!! If we were ever very picky - Salt pot was empty and waiter forgot the water 💦 but gladly over look the human fallibility ! The staff were very nice 👍 Over all we were so impressed and enjoyed every course ! The price was a pleasant surprise !

First time at Hixon on Saturday. Table booked online. Was seated and served promptly. Service was fast, staff friendly. Did feel starters and mains came out slightly too quick, but would prefer earlier than a delay! Pre meal cocktails ordered and was delicious. Starters were squid, pork scratching and x2 oysters. Mains included wagyu burger and lamb. All delicious. Meat tender and cooked rare which was perfect. Decor was fantastic, 1920s-1940s feel, lovely deep green curtains drawn to give guests privacy away from the public street. Felt intimate. Atmosphere was great. Would recommended coming here.

Went here for my birthday about a month ago and forgot to review it. I hadn’t heard of this place until I went there, but I wish that I had. The food was absolutely superb, I fought my way through the ribeye and thought I was defeated, but as soon as I was given the go-ahead on my girlfriends remaining fish and chips I felt my ears spring up like a bunny and in no time I had consumed half a cod. One meal and a half is a magnificent feat for myself, and without the aid of those cocktails I fear it would not have been achieved. My French Martini was the best I’ve had, my sister begged to differ, claiming it was “too sweet”. There is no such thing and she is a fool; wouldn’t recommend eating the frozen raspberry it came with though. I wish I had the room for dessert as I’m sure it would have been lovely but this is the opportunity cost for eating a plate and a half. Aside from food, I was a big fan of the interior, the service was standard and of a good pace, and I can’t tell you about the price as, it being my birthday, I didn’t spend a dime!

Eaten here now on many occasions and I love it. The food keeps getting better and better. The menu changes regularly. Everytime I go in I try something new and everytime I am delighted with the food. The staff are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great. Credit to all the staff 👏

We came to Hixon for girls lunch, few travelled from Swindon & few travelled from Bournemouth. It was overall a superb lunch & experience!! Positives: My niece has a milk allergy, the host was very attentive to my 12 year old niece allergy. My sister in law is 37 weeks pregnant & asked for the lamb to be well done & it was cooked to perfection. I had the sirloin steak, added with two King prawns with Caesar salad on the side, and for dessert I had lemon slice. It was absolutely flavoursome, cooked to perfection and I highly recommend it!! However My SIL mum had an issue with her dish, butternut squash had lots of cabbage underneath which was not listed in the menu which she dislike however the host gave her new one without the cabbage. My sister had few issues, her glass of champagne had no bubbles, but host kindly gave her a new glass with no hassle, and unfortunately her steak was well done instead medium rare (he very kindly took her bill off) Her dessert of sticky pudding didn’t look as nice as my SIL toffee pudding which was presented beautifully. Negative: Unfortunately the young waitress who looked after us, when she was placing our drinks onto the table she placed her hands at the top rim of the glass luckily the drinks had straws (So sorry for nitpicking but being in the hospitality myself, placing hands on top rim of the glass it’s a big no no for bartender, FOH staffs and it’s unhygienic) Toward end of our meal the host was away, the service was different and slow. We had to get the waitress attention few times, to ask for two steak knives, to clear the table, for the dessert menu, the bill etc. *** Despite the few issues we have had, the host/manager did rectify the issues straight away, he went above & beyond and provided an excellent service to meet our demands. The food was delicious The restaurant and toilet is very clean, beautifully decorated, highly recommend Hixon.

Managed to catch the last table but would recommend booking. Food was absolutely delicious and justified the slightly high prices. Only downfall was that my beer wasn't fresh and they forgot to bring the wine we ordered but it was a busy Saturday night and we still enjoyed our meals regardless. The plates coming out the kitchen were all mouth watering. Would definitely come back if we were from the area

Food was good. However, the service was not that great. First, we had to wait to place the order when there were just a very few visitors. Then I ordered a second glass of wine which has never come - they just forgot. Lastly, we asked for a bill and have been waiting forever until we got it - we had to remind. Service charge was included, but the way.

Slow slow slow! Way too slow. Everything from drinks orders to mains which took nearly an hour to arrive. The food was however excellent

The best experience of dining so far in Salisbury. Very professional great service. Staff helpful and attentive. Food was delicious and atmosphere is so awesome with great vibes. Simple but impressive interior especially love striking orange leaves on door at green front. Indoor and out seating. Even I didn't booked a table but luckily got one. Each of my friend enjoyed their meal and the venue. Thanks to the staff for making our day

Walked in on spec this lunchtime (Father’s Day),sat outside with our dog and had one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had in a long time,well done and thank you.Well worth a visit! 👍

We visited on a Wednesday for their bottomless steak and were really impressed. I'm lactose intolerant and they catered to my needs (making me a salad and peppercorn sauce) which was above expectations. Although I'm not sure what would have happened had I wanted more sauce, as the sauce and steak 'top ups' are brought around by the waiter for everyone frequently. The food was really tasty and we were impressed by how often we were offered more if we wanted it.

While the food itself was absolutely delicious, the service left much to be desired during our recent visit. ### The Positives Let's start with the high point - the food was exceptional. Every dish was prepared with high-quality ingredients and expert technique. The flavors were vibrant and well-balanced. It's clear the kitchen staff are highly skilled. The menu offered a nice variety of options for different dietary needs as well. ### The Letdowns Unfortunately, the service was a major letdown and dampened the overall experience. We encountered very slow and inattentive service throughout our meal. I had to remind the supervisor twice about my beer order, which is unacceptable for an upscale restaurant. Even worse, my daughter's ice cream dessert came with the wrong flavor - a mistake that should not happen at an establishment of this caliber. The issues seemed to stem from a shift change, which apparently caused some confusion and lack of coordination among the staff. However, this is not an excuse. A restaurant like Hixon should have systems in place to ensure a smooth transition between shifts. ### Overall The food alone makes Hixon worth trying for a special occasion. But the service problems are glaring and detract from what should be a premium dining experience. Unless the service issues are addressed, it will be difficult to fully enjoy and recommend this restaurant. Here's hoping Hixon gets its front-of-house operations up to the same high standards as its kitchen.

Very good service food excellent and plenty of it

We spent some nice time here having our lunch. The food was delicious, served in modern way. The lunch menu allowed everyone from our group of 4 to find something that we enjoyed. Really loved the ambience. Just few steps away from the cathedral. The service was very helpful. Highly recommend it!

Had a fantastic first visit here for a family birthday lunch. The staff were genuinely friendly and the food was fantastic. You expect great steaks in a place like this but didn’t expect the tastiest fish n chips we’d had in years. Would compete with the best of Brixham fish restaurants ! Great addition to Salisbury, thoroughly recommended.

Staff are really friendly & mostly experienced, and really happy to help at every turn. Gazpacho (pleasingly seasonal!) was superb, fries perfectly done, portions generous. Wines by the glass are thoughtfully chosen to match the food. Highly recommended for Salisbury high street lunch.

The best dinner I've had out in Salisbury for years! And also good value for money for how high quality the food was. The beef crochettes were phenomenal, and the pistachio lamb was probably the best lamb I've ever had. Wonderful service, great atmosphere. Highly recommend for date night or a special event.

Third time at Hixon and every bit as good as the previous times. Our server Anna was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable.

Hixon was absolutely amazing, every member of the team that we interacted with was amazing and polite, the owner and the part owner/ manager had all the time to talk to myself and my partner even with a busy restaurant, nothing seemed rushed or pushy, the food was sublime and there was no room at all for improvement. We had a cocktail to start which was also fantastic! The value for money was excellent. I would highly recommend Hixon to anyone, my only disappointment is that I do not live closer to go more often!

Wonderful independent restaurant in the heart of Salisbury. The service was excellent throughout the evening, the manager even took time to speak to us, and ensure our evening was going well. Menu offered good variety and very high quality; we had two different steaks, a burger and the fish of the day. Overall, a fantastic experience with a combination of great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Hixon communication is non existent. I wanted to make a booking but had a few questions, two separate messages sent via social media, both have been read and ignored. Comments also left on social media posts, they are very active on social media so it is just ignorance. Not going to bother now as I've had a poor experience before I've even walked through the door.

Excellent restaurant, really solid menu and excellent atmosphere. The service was excellent too. Half way through our meal a very loud group arrived and sat next to us. The server was very accommodating and we switched tables to further away with no fuss or awkwardness. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal out.

I recently ate at Hixon from a friend's recommendation. Our server, Anna was very friendly and helpful with any queries/questions we had regarding some items on the menu. The fillet steak I ordered was cooked as requested (Rare) and all the items ordered were great. We will be looking at returning in the future.

Great couple of lunches here over the past month, one birthday meal with a friend that we were served by a new starter Jamie who was lovely and attentive whilst learning the ropes, the Bartender on opening up our bottle of red and we had a laugh about all of our hospitality jobs. A cracking Tomahawk shared between the 2 of us. Came back this weekend just gone for a meal with the family, grandparents loved their Wagu burgers and starters off of the sert menu and my sirloin with peppercorn sauce and crab on toast were both top tier too. Roxy looked after us who made sure we were kept topped up and everything was well throughout with a busy floor of tables. Parents looking forward to returning due to some envious eyes at our neighbouring tables Fish & Chips 👍

Really good latte and hot chocolate. Latte art on both was perfect. Tasty hot sausage roll and bacon cheese croissant. Warm atmosphere with modern design and plants dotted about.

Had high expectations given the price of the food here, Firstly took ages to find us a table in an empty restraunt, Ordered lamb rib, medium rib eye steak & children's chicken Lamb was very fatty although tasty Steak although very tasty came out well done, no steak knife served so had to go and ask for one as it was very tough, Also would prefer if the children's chips wasn't salted. Someone did come and check on us regarding the steak and offered to do another, would have rathered a % off the bill really Adding service charge to the bill was a bit of a joke really

Staff were lovely and really helpful, food was tasty but value for money isn't great. Paid £5 to add a langoustine and got about a teaspoon of meat.

Booked Hixon for our Christmas meal, was given the private room which was amazing !! The service was incredible, super friendly, and so was the food, would recommend to any one and will definitely come back

Great place for a steak. Service and food we're great.

We had a superb dining experience last Saturday night. The service was attentive and informative, with a smile, Anna was great. The food was delicious, we had the best olives, a nice touch is the free bread when you settle down. We had excellent steaks, burgers and chicken. Could not fault it, followed by sharing some puddings. Highly recommend the creme brulee. Excellent selection of drinks for those wanting a beer or wine, with a non alcohol selection, we had some 0% Peroni. The atmosphere was very comfortable, not too close to other diners, so you don't feel too surrounded or it's too loud. We will return.

Me and my partner went to Hixon last night to celebrate a special occasion and had a fabulous time. The food was incredible so delicious and beautifully presented, the cocktails and mocktails were stunning and the service from everyone, particularly Lottie who took care of us from the start was wonderful too. Lottie was really friendly and knowledgeable and I look forward to eating there another time. Super special night.

Hixon Pub turned out to be a hidden gem during our trip to Salisbury. I went for the chicken at £19, and hands down, my friends agreed it was the best kind of meat on the table. The portions were generous, so much so that I couldn't finish everything, but it was the best decision we made – quick service, friendly staff and incredibly tasty. The meat came with a plate of veggies and flavorful potatoes, making the price totally worth it. Sharing the abundance of food with my friends made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The sauces they offer are excellent too, adding an extra layer of satisfaction. Just a heads up, we had to wait an hour for a table, so it's wise to book your dinner in advance. Overall, this is a must-visit for the best English traditional dish in Salisbury. This is my best English dinner so far 🍽️🇬🇧

Our new favourite restaurant. A lovely welcome, excellent service, and delicious food at a very reasonable price.

Our arrival was greeted warm and welcoming and we were promptly seated, We dined on a Sunday lunchtime and from the menu we all went for the roast beef with all the trimmings followed with fabulously presented desserts. The quality of the roast was right up there! The beef was cooked to perfection for us (slightly pink)and the veg and Yorkshire pudding was lovely as was the gravy. The main course was paired with a bottle of house shiraz, that went down very well too! The quality of the desserts we're of a very high standard something you would expect from master chef 🙂 We parted with just over £150 for four of us for the two courses and wine Great value and will definitely be visiting again 👍🙂

Quite disappointing, the steak was very good but the chicken was terrible. The restaurant wasn’t particularly full but the service was fairly slow. I think it’s over priced slightly for everything and it was not made clear at any point but they add 12.5% service charge on the bill without asking. Obviously you have the option to ask to remove it, but I don’t think it should be automatically added.

The food was excellent and the service was even better! Roxy was so sweet and my husband and I enjoyed our lunch here today! Highly recommend the squash soup and that sauce that comes with the burger is to die for!:)

We didn't eat but went for drinks, as per their other venues the decorations are fabulous, there's a fantastic atmosphere, the staff are wonderful, and the cocktails are delicious! The only improvements I'd suggest are more craft gins (Explorer local, Sip Smith is popular) and better veggie options.

Interior is beautiful, staff is young,but friendly. Great choices of food and drinks. Local products, what we love. But,sadly,we didn't had a good first time experience. Our steaks came to us cold and not cooked as ask for, sides came late and a big group was already there and so loud,that we and properly rest of guest couldn't hear our own conversations. So, we wasn't happy at all. What is a shame as is a family run business

Went out for Afternoon lunch had a great choice on main menu and choice of a lunch time menu we chose the lunch time menu which was great value starter, main and Pudding for £18 all food was perfect especially the Wagu Burger with chips the dip that came with it was one of the best Dips I’ve had for a long time. And don’t forget the Pudding which was delicious and was enough to share. The staff were great with a nice warm and friendly welcome the minute we stepped through the Doors. We booked a table for a set time and they were ready for us to enjoy our first experience of this great Restaurant. Paula offered us drinks before we sat down and explained what was on offer with a pretty good drink’s selection. I chose IPA from from Rude Giant Brewery a nice Pint. Tom then took us to our table and explained how things work and about the food on offer in each Menu. The service from start to finish was amazing. What a great place!!

Our dining experience at Hixon was a bit of a strange one, to be honest. I had primarily booked because of the meat dishes that the restaurant is apparently famous for. We were rather perplexed then when we were told upon our arrival that all the roast options were no longer available, as they were sold out. I do acknowledge that our visit was on a Sunday evening, but I felt the menu choices too limiting as a result, given that this is chophouse, and meat is what they specialise in! My wife was happy enough with the vegan dish (grilled aubergine with BBQ sauce), as she doesn't eat meat. And I then surprised myself by ordering the same for myself - which is a highly unusual choice, given how much I love meat, and this is the main reason I had booked a table in the first place. I must admit, though, that I did not regret my choice, as the dish was magnificent! The other thing, though, that we found somewhat unsettling was that we were the only guests in the entire restaurant, which felt a bit eerie and meant that it completely lacked atmosphere. It almost felt like they kept the restaurant open only for us, because they had no choice due to our reservation... Not sure that's the case, but it's how it felt to us. Service was ok, though not great. So the only redeeming feature really was the food itself, but for the overall experience I would struggle to give this restaurant a rating of more than average. Maybe things simply conspired against us that evening, given that the place gets extremely good reviews in general. But unfortunately we were unable to share the positive experience of other customers on that particular night.

Although a small lunch menu the food was delicious we had the steak and cod. Amazing chips & yummy desserts. Great service really helpful & friendly and on a sunny Saturday with the bifold doors open it was an amazing experience

Sunday lunch. Meats very good. Very generous with veg. Perfect roast potatoes.

The food was mostly ok, I had a ceasar salad to start, nice dressing and really fresh leaves. We all had steak for main which took a long time to come out after the starters, which we didn't expect. I ended up with the wrong steak, the waiter was unsure which was which but then suddenly knew exactly which one was right, unfortunately he got it wrong. That being said the steak was really good quality. The service overall was very good, friendly, engaging waiting people that made it a fun experience. I recommend it and will be going back.
