We travelled as a family just after the restrictions were lifted during the covid, hence this was the only available hotel within the budget. It was very near to Bournemouth railway station and walking distance to the cliff area. Though old rooms, bathrooms were decent. No room service nor breakfast and felt a bit overpriced for the offering. We spent only for the sleep which was undisturbed however, I will recommend other better options in the vicinity to family travellers.

3 stars. Should be 0 stars. Manager was a nice man. Gave us a refund. Lucky the ceiling didnt fall down. Net curtains were ripped. Paint around the windows was flaking and cracked. Baby bottles and young children on the floor of the reception area. Walked in broken biscuits and food on the carpet and up the staircase. £120.00 for 1 nite. .infact the whole area of Bournemouth is a dump. This countries government has turned alot of seaside towns into a dumping ground for asylum seekers. Its a shame.

I am still appalled by the response of the manager as I sit in my room after just complaining at the hotel bar. I ordered a pint of soda and lime and was charged £3.80. I had already reviewed the bar price list and saw that I was being charged the same price for a lemonade or coke, I questioned why it was the same charge as postmix when in ever bar I have ever worked in we only charged for the dash of cordial. The managers response was that although they had a price list advertised by law, the staff had an amount of leniency when it came to what to charge. The room is budget and I believed good value for s single room with breakfast included, I was given a fan for the room when I asked as the room is boiling hot. The staff are all very friendly but come on guys! Sort your bloody bar pricing out!! I will not stay here again.

A lovely hotel that has not been commercialised. There are many people who return year in year out and nothing appears to much trouble for the staff. It is a nice place to be.

I selected the Firs as a place to celebrate our 11th Anniversary, having just spent the previous weekend here for a reunion. On booking in Sue was polite and handled the check in with ease she also informed us on how to upgrade our B&B booking allowing us to select on our choice of evening Dinner,(this is not normally available at other hotels.Room was found clean tidy with a selection of good and clean laundry. I noted during the stay that the Sea green walls and floor of the outside pool had been painted.Though NOT confirmed I expect it is to stop people reporting how green and dirty the water in the pool was, though I do not believe the council would allow this to happen .Throughout our stay we could find no fault with the Bar or restaurant staff all providing an excellent service. Our room each day was found to be tidy and towels changed when requested by leaving over basin as advised. This is not a large "All singing and dancing hotel but a nice place to enjoy a relaxed break we did. I should also say that Nick, the manager and all his team get both our thanks for enjoying our stay. GO again, NO Hesitation. Thank you all .

The Orchid Restaurant is part of the Hinton Firs hotel and open to non guests like me. I went there last week after checking their website which looked promising. Unfortunately, the reality is that this restaurant only really caters for guests and visitors are not over welcome. For a start, the restaurant is only open from 7pm to 8pm and you get the impression they would like you to leave asap to get ready for breakfast. We went as a party of four using a Tastecard which kept the overall cost down. The menu was limited, just like a hotel, but there was a choice between fish and meat for the main course. The food itself was adequate but not memorable. Service was quick, but clearly designed to getting us out. The room lacked atmosphere and it is not a venue I either recommend or will revisit. However, using a Tastecard it was certainly not dear.

What a shame, this could have been so much better. The staff were very friendly and polite, but they were let down by the lack of choice on the menu. The food was presented well, but not a very generous portion size. Come on Hinton Firs you could improve your menu for a Sunday. There were only a handful of tables taken, and two of those were with noisy irritable children which does not go down well.

My partner and I booked this hotel for a long Valentine's weekend. We had treated ourselves to to concerts at the O2 Bournemouth (20 mins walk away). We chose this hotel because it was close-ish to the venue and becuase there was parking and things to do on a rainy day. We were given room 71. This was a lovely big sized room. The bathroom was small but had everything we needed. HOWEVER, we were dissapointed. The cleanliness of the bathroom was average as there were hairs near the shower and the top part of the door in the bathroom was covered in dust and fluff, and upon picking up one of the towels we found a big makeup mark with some foundation powder stuck to it. The bathroom smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. With a little spray of perfume this dissapeared for a short while. Our first night in this room was disaster. The curtains were partially hanging off the curtail rail. There was a door just ourside the bedroom window (we were on the ground floor overlooking part of the hotel carpark which was also the delivery yard for the hotel) which kept banging in the wind over night. There is also some sort of laundry room and at 1am the hum of the washing machine spins could be heard. The following morning we asked to be changed to another room. We were given room 72 next door. This room was better in that it faced the little garden at the from of the hotel. However, we were dissapointed with this room also but not as much as we were with room 71. It was smaller and the bathroom is a wet room. The blinds in the bathroom were not fully functional and there was such a damp smell coming from there that the trusted perfume spray was used again. Upon getting into bed - two single beds pushed together which made a spuerking sized bed)- we found that the mattress was covered in a double sized flat sheet, leaving the sides of the mattress exposed. That said, the indoor pool was ok, was was the sauna. The shower / changing room was filthy with hairs in the plug hole in the shower. The hotel also has a selection of massage treatments and I wanted to treat my fiance as he had to drive us all of the time that we needed the car to get anywhere. Unfortunately the treatment were only for women. The only thing we had no complaints about was the fact that we would play pingpong on the rainy days and the breakfast was ok too. We gave up complaining and spent whatever time we could out of the hotel.

Our first room had a hard bed so we moved to another room. The jacuzzi was cold despite calling before making booking to check it was hotter than pool! Room tired and slightly depressing. Sauna requires 20 min advance notice to heat up. Friendly staff. Outdoor pool needs cleaning. Ran out of chocolate fudge cake for complimentary tea. Had to request towels and shampoo refill in bathroom. Indoor pool is tiny. Avoid this hotel.

We attended this hotel for lunch at 12:15 with a disabled guest and were virtually ignored by the receptionist and found our way into the bar. There were no staff around and no bar person so I rang the bell for service. After ringing again 5 mins later and waiting a further 10 minutes I went back to reception to ask if there was anyone who could serve us. The receptionist told me to ring the bell and I explained that I had done so twice. She eventually left her seat and spent another 10 minutes searching for a member of Staff but with no success. She then brought us a menu and took our order after a total of 25 minutes waiting. She was then fast and courteous with our order. Other customers came to the bar and gave up waiting after 10 mins or so.The General Manager made an appearance around 1pm sadly he was completely up himself and when our guest asked what had happened to all the staff and the state of the service he was less than useless with his replies. We will be telling everyone we meet to Avoid this one star disaster area.

My son and I went for coffee and cake today. Never again! The lady who served us was full of cold, coughing, sneezing and wiping her nose on the back of her hand whilst preparing our coffee it really put us off - basic hygiene surely means you don't serve food/drink with a streaming cold!?! I then visited the loo and it was like going to the toilet in a third world country. Absolutely rank! Stinky and really unpleasant all round. Starbucks you should be ashamed - you let the brand down massively! Was the coffee good? Probably but didn't really notice tbh!

I don't opt for fish and chips very often as a takeaway option, but the vegan fish caught my eye and encouraged me to order. I have to say, super impressed with the vegan fish. Yes, it was a little oily, but that was just what I needed! Portion of chips was incredible, huge portion😅 My friend and I think we should have shared a portion instead of getting one each, but hey we've realised that now! I'll be ordering again when I need some proper British food vibes.

The smallest single scoop of ice cream I’ve ever been given. I complained and was told that it was full inside which I could feel wasn’t true. I didn’t want to argue but will never use them again.
