Awful experience. First time ever trying a takeaway from here. My son’s food was ok but my chicken was stone cold in the middle and some of it raw. Contacted the restaurant and took photos. Was advised it was due to it being delivered. I explained it was hot on the outside but uncooked on the inside, I was then told it was a new chef and an apology was offered. They advised they would refund the following day. 2 weeks on no refund .

An absolute disaster! We only ordered noodles, chips curry rice and prawn toast and live within 10 minutes away. Ordered via their app which has been problematic in the past yet just wanted to get on with the order. They called immediately explaining I had not added the delivery fee and so would need to pay £2.50 to the driver, I hadn’t added it in the past as thought it was automatically added and nothing was raised then, however accepted it. Was told would be with us in 45 mins. After 1 hr and 20 mins I called and was told by the young man, the delivery driver wasn’t answering his phone so we would just have to wait ( apparently the driver had only left twenty minutes ago which would have made our order very late anyways). Continued to wait and almost 2 hours later I call back and they say they can’t get through to driver and I would need to cancel the order via the app as they can’t do it over the phone when it had already been accepted. I explained they had managed to cancel it themselves in the past when the app had made a same order three times incorrectly. The young man insisted I would need to do it and when the driver turns up I was told to refuse the order, so no offer of you can have the food anyway or no apology. What they were planning on then doing with the food we sent back I dread to think! Spent next twenty minutes trying to cancel order via the app with it not working. Had to call back where the young man said the app was actually down and so on this occasion they would cancel it their end after all, so they could have done that in the first place! The order was just shy of £24.00 which makes Hins one of the most expensive takeaway chineses we have come across. There were numerous opportunities for them to help us and rectify the situation yet they were obstructive, non communicative and unhelpful. Incidentally the delivery driver said no one had called him at all. We stopped going to Hins in the past when they got their one star rating, however went back when this was upgraded, however no amount of noodles will make us return. Customer service is non existent bordering on bullying and I can see repeated issues with delivery from other reviews.

Avoid. Takes over 90 minutes to receive an order. Ring up to complain and get a pathetic excuse. The food is okay but my got the waiting time is totally unacceptable and the restaurant is clearly not set up to do deliveries- would be better saying collection only. I’d never order a delivery again.

I've been here a handful of times but the last 2 times it's been poor. Last time the prawn balls were so overcooked and hard they were inedible. This time round the food was ok but it took over two hours to arrive. It's a shame because this was the best Chinese in Selby.

Just had the best Chinese takeaway for a long time I had given up on finding a good Chinese takeaway in Selby but then noticed Hins is under new management So glad I decided to try them.

Used to be our favourite Chinese. Absolutely not anymore. Food took 1 hour 40 minutes from ordering on a Wednesday night. Now I understand on weekends or if they even updated via email but the delivery was due 40 minutes later. When delivered food was luke warm at best and delivery driver rude. My stepdad said thank you and the delivery driver said nothing not hello, not your welcome, not sorry for your wait. Won't be returning. Lost a pretty regular customer too

Used to be the best Chinese in the area, last order absolutely disgusting. I actually gagged from choking on bones and PLASTIC in the meal. Flavours were still there but that is INEDIBLE. We will never order from Hins again.

Food is good but don’t order a delivery, they have taken 2hrs twice for us now (when the initial delivery time was 40 mins)and just say they are “busy”. They are taking too many orders and can’t satisfy their customer expectations. Either pick your food up Yourself or go somewhere else….we will!

Been using them for years but since moving to Hemingbrough the delivery is shocking. Today I pre-ordered food at 12pm to get food delivered at 6.55pm. Oh bet an hour late, and it’s not the first time! Even though they are the only ones in Selby that do honey spare ribs I will not ordering from them again.

We’ve just moved to the area so tried out this Chinese takeaway for the 1st time last night. Very easy to order online, booked it to arrive at 8pm which it did, pipping hot and very very tasty. We’ll definitely be using this one again - 10/10

Consistently late. We order from them as the food is good but tonight has taken the biscuit. Order placed before 7pm and still no food at 9pm. Previously you could bank on it being at least 30mins late but they have now outdone themselves. Last order from us

We have ordered from Hins many times over the past few years, mostly on line. The food has always been delivered on time, tasty and no problems arising, however this was not to be on our last delivery! Saturday evening order placed 3x dishes, 2 sides and sauce. Order, total amount and delivery address clearly shown on "Your Order" print out on hubbies tablet. Delivery time stated at 8.09pm some considerable time after placing the order but we were happy to wait. Delivery time came and went and we were absolutely starving! Hubby rang the shop to be told it was on it's way. Ten minutes later still no food, tried to call the shop again but no answer. Then get a message to say delivery is now running late and will be an extra 40 minutes past the original delivery time stated! At approximately 9.20pm our intercom was pressed, gate opened for the delivery driver and our order placed which was in a soggy bottomed cardboard box was placed on our doorstep, the receipt cellotaped on the top. We always have the correct money ready to pay the delivery driver along with an extra £1 as a tip. The driver (female) then proceeded to ask for £4 extra than the original total price. We said that was not correct and that we had the money ready to pay for what was stated on our order form. We where then told no payment no food!! We explained we were going to pay but only the original price we had written on the order and why was there an extra £4 added on. The receipt was ripped off the top of the order and shown to us, all written in what looked like chinese, delivery address and price being £4 extra. We showed her the tablet with the order written on and the price we were paying, she did not know why there was an extra £4 added on, said she was only the delivery person and proceeded to ring her boss for me to speak too. We said we did not want to speak to her boss, we just wanted to pay and go and eat our food which had already been delivered very late past the original stated time. Her boss informed her that she was to collect payment with the extra £4, we refused to give that, the original total amount that we had ready was handed over which she was not happy with. She was still wanting to disagree over the final receipted amount so we said we had paid, were starving and therefore picked the box of food up and shut the door. On getting the food inside the cardboard box that it was sat in the bottom was found to be damp and soggy, obviously things had been in there a while. All food was cold and one of the side dishes so badly burnt that it was not edible at all!! This experience with Hins has left us very disappointed and upset, order delivered extremely late (no apologies given for this), more money demanded on delivery and on finally getting to eat the food to find it cold and burnt! Needless to say we will not be ordering from Hins again.

We’ve used Hins for 5 years and tonight is the very last time. The food is really good but the service has always been questionable......the same thing....promise a time, you turn up and wait for 20 mins, get insincere apologies. You order online and it takes 2 hours. I’m fed up the past 4 times has got worse and worse. Jinnah, Reshma, the chippys and dominos always deliver before or on time. Why can’t you? God knows why you are still in business.

We always ordered from Hins as the food was excellent. However delivery has been horrendous during lockdown. We gave them benefit of doubt, whenever we called to ask where food was we were told they were busy. Tonight we ordered at 17:30 and were told it would be another 30 minutes extra. That has happened every time since beginning of lockdown so we expected it. I called at 19:20 to ask where it was and was told that it was being cooked now and that they were busy. I asked how much longer and he avoided the question, when I asked for the third time politely how much longer he thought it would be, he screamed "IT IS BEING COOKED NOW!" and hung up. When the food arrived at 20:10 we finally ate but the food was not at the quality it usually is. It was overall flavourless with tough meat, not normal for Hins. We forgave the delays to support a local business that usually made tasty food, but after too many delays, the quality of our last meal and being screamed at they have lost us as loyal customers.

Absolutely love this Chinese and I am not a person who complains but I'm afraid I will be changing Chinese after 4 consecutive weeks of poor service. Given them the benefit of the doubt but tonight enough is enough Week 1) Missing items, Week 2)pre ordered for 2 hours time and arrived in 20 mins Week 3) arrived 1 hour late Week 4) arrived nearly 2hours late and stone cold. Love you Hins but if you cant deliver as orderd dont over promise.

Tried to order from this takeaway on a recommendation. Ordered online as they didn’t answer the phone! Ordered stated that they would deliver 1 hour 30 minutes later, that was fine as we were out. 3 hours later they turned up at the door stating they wanted £2 more than what we had ordered including the delivery charge! Told them where they could go!! If you can’t deliver on time or even near to that time, then don’t take the order!!!

Ordered a couple of times. The average wait time is about 2.5 hours so far. This is the last time we order as they sent the wrong food after our 3 hour wait. My advice to anyone wanting delivery is don't bother

I ordered the Crispy Chilli Beef and the Salt and Pepper chips, which I get from every chinese I order from, and it did NOT disappoint!!! Absolutely delicious. 110% would order again!!!

Not even worth 1 star! Paid £12 for burnt food. I phoned straight away to advise. Got a rude abrupt man who said there was nothing he can do and if he did it again it would be burnt aswell. Would not refund either! The worst food ever!! It even smelt burnt. Whole lot went in bin! They didnt give a toss as they had my money! DO NOT USE!!!!

Looked at menu, we chose what we wanted, as we hadn’t too much money at our disposal, I checked the delivery charge, and added this to the price of our order, rung up ordered, before confirmation I asked for the price including delivery, it was £2 over what I’d calculated and I double checked. Once I stated I was cancelling the gentleman asked why and what I’d pay???Sorry no thank you.

We ordered shared starters and a chicken curry with egg fried rice and salt and pepper chips. There was nothing wrong with the food however there was nothing amazing about it either. The curry was a lot hotter than I'm used too from other Chinese takeaways however still was enjoyable. All I can say is that this takeaway seems to be cheaper than other Chinese takeaways in the area

Ordered here for the first time, new to the area, had a few benchmark dishes as comparison to our previous favourite place; prawn toasts, singapore noodles, crispy chilli beef, szechuan chicken, and they were all good, and all for great value pricing, cheaper than where we used to go and just as good, recommend highly...

Never had a problem and visit a couple of different Chinese takeaways but always love this one. However we do always collect and don’t get food delivered so can’t comment on that.

Was the best local Chinese and have been using Hins for years but the latest price rises make it very poor value and for the money the food is now average at best. Delivery is also slow.Some meals have gone up fifty percent so don't know how they can justify it.An example; Mushroom Chow Mein up from £4.60 to £7.10!Five mains and four appetisers with no sides cost us over £50.Chips or rice is extra on all meals. This is Selby not Chelsea!I'm by no means tight but won't be going again.

Ordered from here during a visit to York/Selby/Harrogate and was not disappointed. Prices reasonable and food was piping hot when we collected. Very good takeaway.

Went their last night got shredded chicken with chips couldnt fault it. Didnt think theyd be enough but was just a case of eyes bigger then belly

We've had a few takeaways from here and all have been good. Tasty food and a wide menu, including Thai style dishes. My husband isn't a big fan of chinese but my daughter and I love it, so having the Thai dishes is great as they're quite spicy which he likes. Lots of meat in dishes, option for thick or thin noodles, no sauce or sauce in the chow mein etc. Nice thick curry sauce, not runny or watery. Would recommend.

Another great take away. Can't fault the meal for the price. Looking forward to the next time. Not found any problems with this establishment.

La primera vez y la última vez que visitan esta para llevar horrible. Pésima relación calidad-precio. ¿Por qué molestan 1 gambas en una comida?

La comida es muy buena, pero lo permite para llevar este es el servicio de entrega. Te dicen que de 30 a 45 minutos, pero siempre tarda el doble. Si pudieran mantener a sus tiempos, este tendría una clasificación mucho mejor que los tres lo he puntuado.

Frequently order a set meal from here and it never disappoints - always fresh with good quality ingredients. Family run place and staff always accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

We have just had a take away from Hins and my wife and I totally agree that this has been the best Chinese take away we've had in a long long time. Food hot and tasty and very enjoyable. We will be back

Decided to try a new Chinese in Selby, ordered on justeat.com and settled in for the possbile 45 minute delivery wait - which is not a problem. What was even better was that the food arrived within 15 minutes of my order placement, and it was piping hot and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Lazy meal but very enjoyable. This is second time we have used Hins for an evening meal. Despite previous reviews by others, Hins have not disappointed. Their meals have been most enjoyable and will use again without reservations.Until that occasion arrives, keep up the good work.

I've ordered from here a few times, and the food has always been spot on. Order just after opening, early on in the week, and you won't have to wait long at all.

I am not a fan of Chinese food but will happily eat from this takeaway. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good takeaway. I have not had a bad one yet!

Just got back from Blackpool and decided to have Chinese for a change. Not had meal for a while as a takeaway in Selby. Usually get pizza, but this time glad chose different. Order takeaway food a number of times times per month, perfectly cooked good sized portions, very friendly polite staff good delivery service also by by friendly staff

The rice was OK. The chicken balls (battered) were not so. Inside the battered shell the chicken meat was sticky, maybe not to well cooked, I really don't know but it wasn't as nice as i had got from elsewhere. I don't think i will go back.

Always hot when delivered and quite large portions. Reasonable delivery charge! Order from just eat.com easy to use.

Food is of average quality. We found it expensive to others we have tried. We have used several around Selby. We found this one to be average. Not sure if we would use again.

Would really recommend this Chinese certainly not the best around have had a lot better even in the local area so would advise eat elsewhere

This is hands down the best Chinese takeaway in Selby.Excellent quantity and quality of food, and always available for collection in 15-20 minutes, delivery a little longer.Also available on just eat - but beware of the inflated prices, better ring direct for delivery.

It's ok food is average and there is better takeaways in town but food has always arrived efficiently n warm which is a bonus so overall is good

Having tried many of the takeaways in Selby, we now use Hins all the time. Very friendly staff and the good is very tasty every time. My favourite is the yellow masaman curry, but will be back to try other options on the menu.
