Food had an unpleasant taste. My wife asked for a new menu which we were begrudgingly given. Just a poor experience. We will mot use again

Had cihicken asd pineapple with egg fried rice chips and curry sauce. It was ex excellent. I w0uld recommend it to anyone! Strve (in Alveston)

I always try to get here to have a take away on a Saturday and have never had a bad meal. Food cooked to perfection and delicious.

We used to love the food from the Hing Tai and decided to order a takeaway meal on Saturday evening which we collected during half time in the rugby. The portion sizes have decreased and were in cartons half the size of those they used to provide and the prices have gone up sharply. The food quality wasn't as good as it used to be (the crispy lamb wasn't crispy and the chilli beef was pretty much all batter and no beef) and in less than a five minute car journey to get it home several of the dishes were stone cold and needed to be heated before being remotely edible. Sorry to say that we won't be going back in a hurry which is a shame as it used to be exceptionally good.

We have used Hing Thai for many decades and always loved it. Tonight we ordered our usual Singapore Chow Mein and imagine our surprise when we got home to discover the cartons are literally HALF the size they were a few months ago. I had missed something off my order and asked if I could add some bits to it but was told very abruptly by a member of staff that I would have to wait 10 mins. This is after I had waited outside in a queue 8 people deep for my order which had been growing cold on the side. To add insult to injury, the chips had been so over seasoned with salt they were almost inedible. We won't be using Hing Thai again. So disappointed.

Upon arrival, you are greeted by a miserable woman with a terrible attitude. That goes out of her way to be rude and unwelcoming. On multiple occasions I have had items missing from my order. And the food has actually been okay, but more often than not, the food hasn’t been great. Personally I don’t write reviews, but after coming here multiple times as it’s my local I am fed up of feeling unsatisfied.

We regularly have a takeaway from here. The large spring rolls are stuffed with lots of meat, prawns and veg. The beef with chilli and garlic is our favourite. Never had a bad meal.

Terrible service, extremely rude staff. Do not give them your money! Shame Thornbury doesn’t have another Chinese restaurant.

Picked up my order tonight to only get home & find out they had not put one of the main meals in, went back and had no apoligy. Not any of them smile or are friendly. Want be rushing back

Absolutely the BEST Chinese takeaway I’ve ever experienced. Order from Hing Tai at least twice a month. Have had it with the family over in the past too, they couldn’t believe how gorgeous the food was. We do make it our mission to get a smile or smirk out of the lady owner, but we think it’s funny:) never had rude service may I add. Prawn crackers are to die for 😋 Chips are better than a fish and chip shop by farrrr. They also know my partners name now as he always picks up👍🏻

Where do I start with this place... the service is extremely rude; I’ve never felt more unwelcome in my life. They served me and my girlfriend raw chicken balls as you can see in the photos below & overall absolutely foul food. We will never eat there again. When we went back in to let them know that they had given us completely raw chicken she was extremely rude to us. She said how they no longer want our business and to never come back. I feel this was out of pure embarrassment as it was very unreasonable. I’m sure any Chinese would be better than this one & I would seriously consider the extra drive!!! Very unhappy and felt although this needed to be made public.

Last couple weeks ordered takeaway and we were very pleased with taste and service. They take orders via phone due covid-19. Portions size are good and price is really affordable. The only one Chinese place left in Thornbury. It’s open for lunch time too. It’s always busy and don’t know why others are complaining! I loved bag of crackers for £2!

I think the reviews on here are waaaaaay too harsh, I've never had a bad meal from this restaurant. The food is of a good standard and the staff have always been very polite,friendly and the food was ready for me to collect at the time I specified. Would definitely recommend

Chinese takeaway and fish and chip shop. The Chinese food is very average and you only go there because there is no competition for miles. To be fair the Salt & Chilli ribs are really good. The fish and chips are better than the chinese. If another chinese takeaway opened up they would really suffer.

I’ve visited Hing Tai twice and ordered sweet n sour chicken, beef chow mien, rice etc.. When I complained about how bad the chicken was, I was told by staff that’s it’s cooked at lunchtime, then re-heated.The food was really bad, dry. The sweet n sour sauce was ok.The service and attitude was just amazingly rude, even on the phone when I ordered, I asked what time they closed this evening, the reply was ‘when I feel like it’. Unbelievable.I won’t eat from here again.If there are any other Chinese takeaway proprietors considering opening a new takeaway in Thornbury, I believe they will make a fortune as competition here is really, really poor. I have never found a more rude takeaway.

I’ve bought take away from here many times over the last 6 months, the food is ok but the service leaves a lot be be desired. There is absolutely no connection with the customer. At this stage with other take away places I’ve used in the past they would start recognising you, a lot would recognise your voice over the phone or connect when you say your name but this place no way !! I get the feeling I could go here for 10 years and they still wouldn’t recognise or acknowledge me. There’s no welcome or smile. Don’t know how they’ve stayed in business this long but as a customer I like to feel appreciated for my business. It’s your choice but only if it’s a last resort

Things here are not what they were some time ago. Although the food has always been OK, the service is at times falling well below anyone's standards, both on the phone when ordering, or more particularly at the counter.Pretty sure these are things that could be improved quite quickly, if not then customers like us will walk away and get their food at other local establishments.

Dreadful customer service, just plain rude. Missing items from order, response was ‘what do you want me to do about it’ errrr give me the food I ordered and paid for would be nice! Pitiful portion size, the image illustrates a Hing Tai large at nearly £4! Will not be returning.

I get my Chinese takeaway from there all the time, its good quality and well priced only thing is they only take cash, no cards ! but would recommend it

This is a chinese and fish and chip takeaway' not in-dining. We use it every month or so. The place is very basic, serving counter, an open area with benches and that it. Its a bit tucked away but is always busy, more so now that the other local chinese has closed. The fish and chips are fine, mostly cooked to order, not too much batter and a decent portion of cod. The chinese food is very good, always hot, nicely cooked and tasty. Usual menu selection, provided quickly. As good a takeaway as we've found.

Food was average, nothing to rant about, drove roughly 8 miles to come and get the food spent around £40 and it always really irritates me when you spend over £20 and they don't give free prawn crackers. Won't come again
