When we went, we had a lovely time. The food was stunning (great quality and portion size) and the service was fantastic as the staff were so attentive and friendly.

Absolutely love this place finish late from and always happy to make me a fresh takeaway for me to eat. Found my new favourite curry spicy butter chicken with a mix grill starter.

Visited tonight with my family and we all had a great time. Attentive staff, lovely food and reasonably priced. Will be returning and recommending to others.

Just had delivered promptly with excellent service the most stunning takeaway of chicken tikka pathia Balti and chicken dansak with perfect pilau rice. Has to be the best Indian takeaway meal in the West Midlands by miles. Free delivery to Lickey for orders over £20.

We have had many visits to the Himalaya over the years and the food and atmosphere has always been great. The staff are very attentive and courteous at all times. I'm looking forward to my next visit

Himalaya is the best restaurant..we Have Been to many curry houses and they have nothing on the Himalaya. The staff are all freindly and proffesional. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. We first went to the Himalaya 33 years ago - food has been consistently brilliant over all that time and so have the staff. The only place that might have been able to equal the Himalaya was a little restaurant that I used to go to when I worked in Mumbai ..... but thinking about it.... the Himalaya is better .... and nearer!

I recently visited Himalaya Restaurant in the B45 area of Birmingham with my family (a table of 6), and it was an absolutely delightful experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a family gathering. The menu offered a fantastic variety of dishes, each more tempting than the last. We started with the mixed platter, which was a perfect introduction to the rich and flavorful cuisine. For our main course, we tried a variety of dishes, including the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Paneer Butter Masala. Each dish was cooked to perfection, bursting with authentic flavors and spices. The naan bread was fresh and fluffy, and the basmati rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. The portions were generous, and we left feeling completely satisfied. Overall, Himalaya Restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. Went with about 18 friends and family after we’d all attended a children’s birthday party. As children had already eaten they didn’t want mains so we just wanted sides for them. One couple in our group wanted to share a curry and have their own sides. They refused to serve us. We tried to explain we’d been to a children’s party so the kids had eaten and the female who served us said that we shouldn’t have come there then!!!! Staff were incredibly rude to us. We have eaten here before and it’s been lovely so I really don’t know what the problem was, but will not be going back.

Hi I’m very disappointed with your comment back! Yes was booked for 20 people 2 went home still 18 people came! No one disturbed the restaurant the only people that did that was your staff members. No one said we was refused us to sit down, you refused 1 of the group member to share a curry with their partner while they was still ordering there own individual sides! Everyone else in the party was all ordering their own curry’s apart from 1 person that couldn’t eat due to food intolerance! Just to start before any food was order our round of squash/beer/cokes come to £57 alone! That was without food! We didn’t get a chance to continue the order you have just stated on the main table. The children had McDonald at a party hench why the children’s order wasn’t much! And for your comment you’re struggling to understand how we left hungry as our order wouldn’t have fed our group….. We didn’t get to finish OUR ORDER! We did pay for our round of drinks as we are not rude people unlike yourselves. What i find nasty and malicious is not letting people finish their order & being rude to PAYING customers. Your team do have the right to work without intimidation and aggression from any customers this is why our group didn’t display any aggression or intimidation, we was trying to understand, your rudeness & judgement. The disrespect your staff showed us was disgusting & very unprofessional of your team! No one at all said that couldn’t understand a staff member due to language barrier it was simply she couldn’t understand why you was refusing to serve us as like I stated you wouldn’t allow 1 person in the group to share a curry with her partner! No one was racially offensive at all so you don’t just get to pull the race card! If we were to have stayed you said our bill would have come to £122.10 but how do you know this as YOU DID NOT LET anyone finish ordering!!! If only you acted as professional in person as you did over the internet.

Disgustingly rude refused to serve our group of 20 because 1 person wasn’t eating avoid at all cost staff were rude and after we told them we’ve come from a birthday celebration they told us well we shouldn’t of come there, only the children had already eaten and 1 of the adult guest wasn’t hungry also referring to only 4 of the guests orders as at this point you refused to serve us as a couple wanted to split a curry but have there own rice and chips, service is very poor staff were extremely rude if you had allowed us to finish ordering the order would of easily exceeded 200/300 but as some groups wanted to share curry’s you refused to serve us. Honestly if anyone wants a nice curry with very good service there is a much better place just over the road past McDonald’s

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My friends and I went to this so-called "restaurant" hoping for a nice evening, but instead got a complete disaster. We were rudely kicked out because a couple at our table wanted to share a meal. Yes, you read that right. Apparently, in this greedy establishment, it's a crime to share food! The server came over and gave us attitude from the start, saying everyone had to order their own dish or we'd be asked to leave. Since when is it mandatory to eat more than you want? Instead of being accommodating, they decided it was better to treat paying customers like garbage and throw us out. Mind you, the place was half-empty (probably for a reason). This place doesn't care about customer service, they only care about squeezing as much money out of you as possible. The food didn't even look that great, so honestly, it was probably a blessing in disguise. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where they actually value their customers instead of bullying them out the door. Disgusting.

But unbelievably, we were refused service because they insisted every single person must order a full meal – even though the restaurant was nearly empty at the time. We were shocked at the utter lack of flexibility and customer service. To deny a large party food, especially so late in the evening, is beyond unacceptable. This isn’t a fine-dining establishment; it’s a curry house, where good hospitality and decent food should be the bare minimum. Instead, we were met with rude, dismissive staff who clearly had no interest in making our evening enjoyable. We left hungry, frustrated, and baffled at how a business can treat paying customers so poorly. Save yourself the headache – there are plenty of other restaurants that actually know how to treat their guests with respect and provide a good meal. This place is NOT one of them.

It’s a nice small business that feels like home . The atmosphere was very calm and professional at the same time . The feeling ticked all my aesthetically needs in an excellent family restaurant. The staff are very friendly , making you know that you have chosen the right place .I went there with my mum today. For starters I had a “butterfly prawn” while she had a “tikka lamb”. The prawn was cooked perfectly however was coated in too much batter which silenced the taste of the prawn. The lamb was slightly overcooked but the seasoning was to perfection. When it came to mains we had a tandoori mixed grill and meat thali . The mixed grill was slightly too salty in terms of the prawn . The meat specifically the lamb was a little over cooked and chewy but again the spice and flavour (other than salt) never let down. But what blew us away was the meat thali , the balance in flavour of the meat stews and the buttery and flakiness of the naan . In my life time I’ve tried thali from 3 other Indian restaurants, 1 local small business and two big businesses and never once was I blown away . By my word I say the himalaya has the best thali. Though not all the things we ordered were my favourite , the mains , the staff , the atmosphere got me very excited to comeback and try many different dishes at this restaurant. My brother has never had Indian food before and I’ve already planned a day to comeback with him knowing that he’ll love it. Thanks Himalaya.

Randomly went here quite late on a Sunday evening but the service was still good. Hubby and I shared the beef thali with some extra naan and rice, which was the perfect size for a light meal. The curries were distinctly different and all delicious. My favourite was the pathia and his the bhuna. The dopiaza was also good. Minor thing was the green tea tasted a bit old but it didn't take away from how delicious the meal was.

I have been going to the Himalaya for nearly 20years..I have introduced so many of my friends and family to this restaurant over the years. I go there for every special occasion. The restaurant is always so clean. From the minute you walk through the door the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is always fresh and tastes delicious. It is also reasonable priced. I couldn't recommend the himalaya enough. Were made to feel like family and nothing is too much trouble. Best curry restaurant there is..

Popped in for a mid-week treat and we weren’t disappointed. A very warm welcome, fantastic food and excellent value for money too. We went for paneer sagwalla and bhuna as we are veggie and were very impressed with the quality of our meal. Plenty of options for fellow vegetarians on the menu and attentive service too. We love the Himalaya, we have been coming for years. It is a beautiful venue and we have had meals for two, with friends and booked parties. We have always had the same warm reception and good food at a reasonable price. We wholly recommend!

Popped in late on a weekday after going to the cinema. Only one word incredible, the food was top notch and made to feel so welcome even though we were a late walk in. Would highly recommend.

A hidden gem! This year is their 50th anniversary! That alone indicates something positive about this place: a consistent high quality of food and service. The menu does not change much, but there is a large selection to cater for diverse tastes (including a bit of "going English"). Some dishes are adjustable for particular dietary problems (I don't eat food prepared in ghee or yoghurt) and the menu is varied enough to naturally take good care of vegetarians and vegans. Their "specials" are indeed special and even their familiar dishes are perfectly prepared and served. Prices are quite average for Birmingham and considerably lower than in London. Helpings are huge, one dish might be sufficient for two. I would describe this as a perfect example of the traditional UK "going Indian" restaurant, and certainly among the very hest. We have been coming to the Himalaya around once a year (we live In London} and first came more than a decade ago. Many things have changed in this corner of Birmingham, Rubery" over the past decades, but not Himalaya. The area, Rubery, has been In continual decline and now consists largely of boarded up shops. There is no manifest personal danger here, everyone has left while the restaurant continues to thrive! The recent closing down of the nearby Empire Cinema complex has done serious damage to the whole area. There is no concept of "levelling up here". However, nearby is the suburb of Longbridge, once a great centre of UK motor industry, and closed down with huge loss of jobs. That is being redeveloped with offices. The short walks to Himalaya might be their salvation in bringing new clients. However, developers might pull down the now almost defunct parade to build luxury apartments. That would be a sad end for those of us who know this hidden gem of a restaurant.

My fella and I treated ourselves to a little mid-week treat, and so drove over here from Redditch. The food was as good as it always has been, and even mid week the atmosphere we good. As always the staff were friendly and attentive. I don't make it over as often as I would like, but, I always know I will be in for a good meal and wonderful service

Decided to go here last minute whilst passing, the service is brilliant and very friendly, the food is really good and tasty, enjoyed our food, the pricing is very reasonable and it's licenced and served draught beers, I have rated this place 5 stars which is correct as I found the service and food perfect. I will return and sure to be my local curry stop.

I drive past X2 Indian takeaways and a restaurant to get my food from here - because it's worth the extra effort. My fav "Meat & Bindi Balti is superb. Even for a takeaway they know my voice or me as soon as I order this meal. Keep up the hard work, it's much appreciated by myself and daughter.

Put collected order in at 6.15 on Sunday night got there for 6.40 and waited till 7.05 Got home only had 5 small portions of chicken tika suppose to be main order no onions in any of mains the other order was fish Masala and sauces missing phoned up to ask what's gone wrong they said two people checked it so made out I was lying and the chips Well just a handful again small portions the last two orders have been poor and to make you wait so long sorry need to up your customer service skills until you do sorry I will give you a wide berth. Slamming the door when the door opens yes it opened quickly and made a noise that's my fault as well I take it. You have your two chefs who claim the order was 100% correct but myself and partner know 100% there was no red chilli sauce and my partner who had the masala fish had no fried onions and we both counted 5 small pieces of chicken tikka regarding the price its always different wether we have it delivered or picked up and it's the same order you also state you get 10% for collection so we are adamant what took place is correct. I think you need to be more reasonable and truthful to accept the errors on your behalf.and listen to the customer instead of making out we are liars.

We visit this restraint often and everytime its a great experience they are all very friendly very good fast service quality of the food is excellent we can't fault it I travel from Coventry to visit this restraint we took my sister there she can from Blackpool even she said it was a lovely place food and service was brilliant I would always recommend this as a place to go the prices are very good too great experience all round we usually have a chicken korma , lamb brogan josh , and a chicken balti all with boiled rice and plain naan bread , we sometimes have chips depending on how hungry we are, which all are superb, we also have poppadoms to start with dips we've not found anywhere as good.
