The staff were as welcoming as always the staff always have a laugh and a joke but at the same time they always remain polite and professional I come to the Himalaya every time I come to visit my mother and my Nanna the food was outstanding

I absolutely loved the vibe of this restaurant in Birmingham! I was recently there with my brother in law and my sister and the staff are very polite to us, the menu sections were labelled appropriately and most importantly, I was told that they do fresh meats from a butcher shop without them being frozen. If anyone are looking for an Indian Restaurant that serves Halal meats, it's here. The meats such as chicken, beef and lamb are Halal except for the duck, in case I should let the Muslims know. Everything has been great with the service, foods and drinks. If I do come to Birmingham again, there may a possibility of me coming back considering that the price was fair for 1 person. I hope Himalaya Restaurant stays in business and continue to strive.

First time here and we had a wonderful experience. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Will be back.

Very disappointed with our meal tonight. My husband had the special curry and the beef was too tough to eat and with no king prawns. Mychicken dansak only had two small pieces of chicken and one piece of pineapple and swimming in sauce (the sauce was tasty). We had hoped to be able to regularly order a delivery but not if this is how it turns out.

I’ve been going to the Himalayan for many years now. I don’t get there as often as I like because it’s not local to me but each time I go it is always consistently good, with great food, lovely, friendly staff. Definitely my Indian restaurant of choice.

1st time me and my family have eaten food here, as soon as the doors were opened we all felt so welcoming. The hospitality shown by the staff was made us feel so comfortable. Food tasted amazing and the portion size were perfect. We will 100% be going back there again.

The service is excellent, attentive without being too intrusive. The food was tasty especially the starter. It had feeling of a diner. We've been dining at the Himalaya for years now, and it's about time I left a review. The food is ALWAYS top tier! We've never had a bad experience the staff are so attentive and welcoming. Our waiter Hussain was very professional and showed us great customer service. You will not disappointed choosing the Himalaya!

Fantastic food, great service - highly recommend

Himalaya is a place I’ve been going for years. Surprised I haven’t left a review yet but felt like I needed too out of how good it is. Went there this evening and had a lamb tikka Tawa and Chicken Chaat. Food came out quick and fresh, right amount of heat without being overbearing and the service was fantastic. Staff can’t do enough for you. Restaurant is lovely with a great atmosphere and decoration. Food isn’t badly priced either, in other curry houses could have easily charged 60-70 but this bill came around to £50. I’ve previously had takeaway from here as well, and it’s just as good. Best curry house in the area in my opinion and would recommend giving a go.

It was the worst Indian food I have ever had.

Staying at the nearby Premier Inn as a base for the M5/Cheltenham Festival & looking for a restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. Friendly staff & good service. Poppadoms & tasty pickle tray. The curries we had were delicious & a garlic naan with plenty of garlic & just enough pilau rice. Didn't feel too stuffed afterwards either. See you again next March!

Moved away from Birmingham a couple of years ago, but whenever we’re back this is an absolute go to. So glad we booked, we went on a Saturday evening and I think virtually every table was occupied! Lovely to see them so busy. Staff are fantastic, food as ever amazing. Eight of us eating, all our meals were delivered together and all hot and tasty. Love this place so much, when we first moved away to Scotland, we stocked up and took eight curries with us😂 See you all next time. xx

We went to the New Years Eve event, fantastic food, fantastic service, great tunes by the DJ and awesome people overall - can’t do enough for you!

Food was so delicious and the service was perfect. Our server was lovely and extremely helpful, and the owner (?) was kind, warm, and made us all feel very comfortable and at home. The food came out promptly and the serving sizes were perfect. Will definitely be going back before the end of our time in Birmingham.

I haven't been here in maybe 20 years plus my partner a little less but omg we're back and will be back again. Food 10/10 service 10/10 overall 10/10 unfortunately no photos of our food but the empty plate says it all....delicious

Traveled 18 miles to this restaurant we had heard about , well the food did not disappoint. Also staff are first class along with the price, infact they should in my view increase all prices more than worth every penny.

Absolutely love this place finish late from and always happy to make me a fresh takeaway for me to eat. Found my new favourite curry spicy butter chicken with a mix grill starter.

Just had delivered promptly with excellent service the most stunning takeaway of chicken tikka pathia Balti and chicken dansak with perfect pilau rice. Has to be the best Indian takeaway meal in the West Midlands by miles. Free delivery to Lickey for orders over £20.

We first went to the Himalaya 33 years ago - food has been consistently brilliant over all that time and so have the staff. The only place that might have been able to equal the Himalaya was a little restaurant that I used to go to when I worked in Mumbai ..... but thinking about it.... the Himalaya is better .... and nearer!

I recently visited Himalaya Restaurant in the B45 area of Birmingham with my family (a table of 6), and it was an absolutely delightful experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a family gathering. The menu offered a fantastic variety of dishes, each more tempting than the last. We started with the mixed platter, which was a perfect introduction to the rich and flavorful cuisine. For our main course, we tried a variety of dishes, including the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Paneer Butter Masala. Each dish was cooked to perfection, bursting with authentic flavors and spices. The naan bread was fresh and fluffy, and the basmati rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked. Went with about 18 friends and family after we’d all attended a children’s birthday party. As children had already eaten they didn’t want mains so we just wanted sides for them. One couple in our group wanted to share a curry and have their own sides. They refused to serve us. We tried to explain we’d been to a children’s party so the kids had eaten and the female who served us said that we shouldn’t have come there then!!!! Staff were incredibly rude to us. We have eaten here before and it’s been lovely so I really don’t know what the problem was, but will not be going back.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My friends and I went to this so-called "restaurant" hoping for a nice evening, but instead got a complete disaster. We were rudely kicked out because a couple at our table wanted to share a meal. Yes, you read that right. Apparently, in this greedy establishment, it's a crime to share food! The server came over and gave us attitude from the start, saying everyone had to order their own dish or we'd be asked to leave. Since when is it mandatory to eat more than you want? Instead of being accommodating, they decided it was better to treat paying customers like garbage and throw us out. Mind you, the place was half-empty (probably for a reason). This place doesn't care about customer service, they only care about squeezing as much money out of you as possible. The food didn't even look that great, so honestly, it was probably a blessing in disguise. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where they actually value their customers instead of bullying them out the door. Disgusting.

Disgustingly rude refused to serve our group of 20 because 1 person wasn’t eating avoid at all cost staff were rude and after we told them we’ve come from a birthday celebration they told us well we shouldn’t of come there, only the children had already eaten and 1 of the adult guest wasn’t hungry also referring to only 4 of the guests orders as at this point you refused to serve us as a couple wanted to split a curry but have there own rice and chips, service is very poor staff were extremely rude if you had allowed us to finish ordering the order would of easily exceeded 200/300 but as some groups wanted to share curry’s you refused to serve us. Honestly if anyone wants a nice curry with very good service there is a much better place just over the road past McDonald’s

Hi I’m very disappointed with your comment back! Yes was booked for 20 people 2 went home still 18 people came! No one disturbed the restaurant the only people that did that was your staff members. No one said we was refused us to sit down, you refused 1 of the group member to share a curry with their partner while they was still ordering there own individual sides! Everyone else in the party was all ordering their own curry’s apart from 1 person that couldn’t eat due to food intolerance! Just to start before any food was order our round of squash/beer/cokes come to £57 alone! That was without food! We didn’t get a chance to continue the order you have just stated on the main table. The children had McDonald at a party hench why the children’s order wasn’t much! And for your comment you’re struggling to understand how we left hungry as our order wouldn’t have fed our group….. We didn’t get to finish OUR ORDER! We did pay for our round of drinks as we are not rude people unlike yourselves. What i find nasty and malicious is not letting people finish their order & being rude to PAYING customers. Your team do have the right to work without intimidation and aggression from any customers this is why our group didn’t display any aggression or intimidation, we was trying to understand, your rudeness & judgement. The disrespect your staff showed us was disgusting & very unprofessional of your team! No one at all said that couldn’t understand a staff member due to language barrier it was simply she couldn’t understand why you was refusing to serve us as like I stated you wouldn’t allow 1 person in the group to share a curry with her partner! No one was racially offensive at all so you don’t just get to pull the race card! If we were to have stayed you said our bill would have come to £122.10 but how do you know this as YOU DID NOT LET anyone finish ordering!!! If only you acted as professional in person as you did over the internet.

Two couples in our party wanted to share a meal, which seems perfectly reasonable considering it was 9 PM and many of us weren’t that hungry. But unbelievably, we were refused service because they insisted every single person must order a full meal – even though the restaurant was nearly empty at the time. We were shocked at the utter lack of flexibility and customer service. To deny a large party food, especially so late in the evening, is beyond unacceptable. This isn’t a fine-dining establishment; it’s a curry house, where good hospitality and decent food should be the bare minimum. Instead, we were met with rude, dismissive staff who clearly had no interest in making our evening enjoyable. We left hungry, frustrated, and baffled at how a business can treat paying customers so poorly. Save yourself the headache – there are plenty of other restaurants that actually know how to treat their guests with respect and provide a good meal. This place is NOT one of them.

It’s a nice small business that feels like home . The atmosphere was very calm and professional at the same time . The feeling ticked all my aesthetically needs in an excellent family restaurant. The staff are very friendly , making you know that you have chosen the right place .I went there with my mum today. For starters I had a “butterfly prawn” while she had a “tikka lamb”. The prawn was cooked perfectly however was coated in too much batter which silenced the taste of the prawn. The lamb was slightly overcooked but the seasoning was to perfection. When it came to mains we had a tandoori mixed grill and meat thali . The mixed grill was slightly too salty in terms of the prawn . The meat specifically the lamb was a little over cooked and chewy but again the spice and flavour (other than salt) never let down. But what blew us away was the meat thali , the balance in flavour of the meat stews and the buttery and flakiness of the naan . In my life time I’ve tried thali from 3 other Indian restaurants, 1 local small business and two big businesses and never once was I blown away . By my word I say the himalaya has the best thali. Though not all the things we ordered were my favourite , the mains , the staff , the atmosphere got me very excited to comeback and try many different dishes at this restaurant. My brother has never had Indian food before and I’ve already planned a day to comeback with him knowing that he’ll love it. Thanks Himalaya.

Randomly went here quite late on a Sunday evening but the service was still good. Hubby and I shared the beef thali with some extra naan and rice, which was the perfect size for a light meal. The curries were distinctly different and all delicious. My favourite was the pathia and his the bhuna. The dopiaza was also good. Minor thing was the green tea tasted a bit old but it didn't take away from how delicious the meal was.

Party of 10 and a last minute booking. Everyone said their foot was great and we had clean plates all round. Staff were great and looked after us well. Great value for money. Happily revisit and recommend.

I have been going to the Himalaya for nearly 20years..I have introduced so many of my friends and family to this restaurant over the years. I go there for every special occasion. The restaurant is always so clean. From the minute you walk through the door the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is always fresh and tastes delicious. It is also reasonable priced. Popped in for a mid-week treat and we weren’t disappointed. A very warm welcome, fantastic food and excellent value for money too. We went for paneer sagwalla and bhuna as we are veggie and were very impressed with the quality of our meal. Plenty of options for fellow vegetarians on the menu and attentive service too.
