Great hotel brand , excellent location with a castle right on the doorstep. Rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast offered a great selection and did not disappoint on quality. Bar team were great.

We paid $400 a night and the room was absolutely filthy, especially the toilet which looked like it had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. There were brown stains in the tub, wallpaper peeling off the wall, bugs in the room, stains in the sink and bathroom floor, black stains on the sheets and the carpet was dirty. While the location is great, the hotel is far from your regular Hilton experience and not worth the price

Not a good experience. Air-con not working in room. Too uncomfortable to sleep in the heat. Staff didn't care.

Hotel without air conditioning, impossible to sleep in the heat. Also, room with cobwebs. Furthermore, they do not have a minibar.

Very very bad night with no sleep! Room was very hot, no airconditioning. After our request we have received a fan and window was opened for us - outdoors was 22degrees but indoors was above 30C! Shower was hot and impossible to get cold water.Anti-slip matt was slippery and caused me falling in the bath. Service - staff at reception tried to convince us that the fan system works whereas staff we met upstairs advised that air-con needs a gas but it is not maintained! Location- although central so convenient to walk to places, due to the super hot room and open windows, the noise from streets (traffic and drunks) was unerable to sleep. Paid over £200 for awful night with no sleep due to hotel negligence to provide decent cooling system and decent shower. Would not reccomend.

Don’t stay here during the summer or hotter months. The entire hotel does not have any air conditioning. It was so hot and stuffy. Our rooms felt like a sauna, despite the window being opened.

You can’t get a more central location. A luxury hotel with maximum focus on customer satisfaction. Ideal location for all main York attractions and bars/restaurants. Well equipped rooms. Nearby parking. Great hotel for functions/conferences. Spacious rooms. Check out the restaurant inc local produce.

Had a rare child free weekend. Paid £240 a night so not cheap. Annoyingly received an unwanted wake up call at 6:15am Saturday. Went down for breakfast and politely informed reception and they said it would not happen again. However, 6:15am Sunday, another unwanted wake up call. Obviously we complained, and especially as this is earlier than what our 4 year old would get up. They did not seem interested at all. I have been told to expect a call from the manager but no such calls has taken place.

I think it was slightly lower than my expectation. The coffee cup in the room was dirty with coffee stains and i had to wash it. I also think putting slippers can be a good idea as i don't like walking around with my shoes or bare foot especially after seeing the hair on the carpet so a better hoovering is essential.

Great setvice, got to check in early and got a room with a lovely view. Room comfortable bur looked dated Tiny issue: the bathroom sink was badly designed, water would spill on the counter and even soill/drip on the floor on every use.

The hotel room is clean and the breakfast is just fantastic! It is about 15-20 min walk to the train station, and very close to the city center.

Worst Hilton we have ever stayed in. Perfect location for York's main attractions, hence the reason for booking the hotel. Also, on the plus point the self service/buffet breakfast was one of the best we have ever had! However, the room was far from satisfactory. The beds were so hard, we contemplated sleeping on the floor (not joking). The pillows were too soft and offered no neck support. The bathroom taps are too close to the sink rim, meaning the vanity side was constantly soaked. The shower was average and 1980's design, set inside a bath. Our room looked over the rear of buildings/roof tops (rubbish). We would not recommend booking this hotel (many more cheaper & better hotels in York) and we won't be returning.

Myself and my family had a great stay in this hotel, we found the staff friendly and helpful and enjoyed the breakfast. The location is very close to the centre of York and seeing the Castle out the front door was something special.

Hilton York is right opposite to York's famous Castle. It is also conveniently located to the town square with many tempting Sweet shops and quaint shops. Room is rather spacious, although the bathroom is a tad tight. Friendly service, with a buffet breakfast of lovely and hearty spread of hot and cold dishes. I loved the different juices and yoghurt with granola and dried fruits. Our Tour group's pre-ordeded dinner was rather delish and lovely, with attentive and friendly service. We were fortunate to get into York with a festive St George Day parade going on, and soaked in the fun atmosphere. Helen April 2024

Hilton is a quality hotel, we were well looked after by the staff. I attended an RICS presentation and met the President elect. I would definitely recommend not parking outside the hotel, it was £12 for four hours, it a couple of quid cheaper on the other side of the road by the canal.

High traffic place with just not enough staff and therefore lines and in a rush admosphere. Great breakfast in weekend is till 11, unpractical you need to tell them every day what time you want it. Expensive for what the name promises.

Very nice hotel, great location, and my room was perfect: modern and spotless. I did manage to leave my kindle under my pillow so massive thanks to the member of staff on reception who retrieved it and looked after it, until it could be collected. Thank you, I really appreciate it. xx

The rooms are basic but comfortable. Fully able to adjust the temperature of the rooms for comfort. The ensuite bathroom was very small but you don't need a big one when your spending the majority of your time out of the hotel. Beware of the costs of meals and especially drinks there. You are likely going to have better value eating and drinking out. However, the staff are overall very helpful and polite.

The Exhibition is a grand old pub dating from 1702 that is situated on a very busy junction opposite Bootham Bar in York. As you enter up the steep couple of steps you are greeted by dark and atmospheric front room which is split by the central bar, it's a mish mash of Victorian and Art Deco with every single bit of wall space occupied with old photos, paintings, brasses and other Breweriana. There are wood panels, glowing yellow lighting and rich dark red ceiling which envelops you into the cosy space. There's so much to take in, especially the Art Deco stained glass panels and large fireplace, you'd almost be distracted from the offerings behind the bar. Which are not the most exciting but there's at least usually a couple of beers from Brew York, Black Sheep and Timothy Taylors, all priced at the usual City centre prices. Where The Exhibition really excels is it's outside space, if you follow your way around to the back of the bar and down a fairy light lit corridor it opens out first into a large conservator which is used for group bookings and then out into what is clearly the biggest and best Beer Garden in York! A beautifully secluded long yard with mature plants and great vintage wall art throughout. The only slight let down is the rather Victorian toilets which could probably do with a bit of an update but otherwise this is a very much overlooked pub that is superb in Summer and would be nice and welcoming inside any time of the year.

Long wait for deserts, Biscof cheesecake was awful, very dry and didn't taste like cheesecake, well past its use by date i think, the adults brownie was not much bigger than the kids size, with a big price difference, total waste of money on deserts!
