Hillfield Farm - Dining & Carvery in Solihull

We booked ahead and arrived on time, standing by the reception area for about 10 mins before anyone actually came to seat us. Nobody in front of us thankfully. Had a fairly long wait at the bar for drinks, maybe 10 to 15 mins, only 1 person behind the bar, on a busy Friday evening, just not good enough. My partner ordered a curry, arrived after 20 mins. The curry itself was stingy, the naan bread rock solid and inedible, the rice not even cooked through thoroughly. She sent it all back. I had the carvery, the meat, roasties and gravy were all excellent, but the green beans almost so mushy turned to soup, cauliflower cheese totally dried out and the stuffing absolutely rock solid and inedible. So poor service and substandard food. We are local but will definitely not be going back.

It's a great find for a family roast. The food was great, very good service, and the price for what you get is awesome, really.

Today I was served by Leanne. I have to say I was very very impressed. She was extremely helpful, polite and considerate and is an absolute credit to your business. If every place of hospitality had employees like Leanne, then the business would be thriving much more than it currently is. Thank you Leanne and the offer of marriage still stands lol

Best carvery I've had for a long time. Plentiful choice of vegetables all cooked beautifully. And the dessert was enough for 2! We will definately be back

We booked breakfast with Santa, a small group of us go to one every year, this one has been the best by far. Well organised and plenty of time with Santa. I really liked the fact Santa was in a separate room, and that you get called up, table by table. Now the big man himself was awesome, really engaging with the kids. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the venue itself is great for kids as there is a separate area for them to play. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely morning.

A Stressed lady came to show us to our table and organise our drinks and express carvery tickets.It felt like when you go to Mac sThe payment process machine that supports blue light was broken. When asked to us the app we tried and that never worked after 10 minutes it completely spoilt the dining experience as It was 19,15 hrs and everything was shutting down it seemed that way and no real time to help. I have eaten there three times in past few months, And this is certainly not the past standard experienced. Maybe more staff needed or a little more training in order

Everyone was very friendly, but a special shout-out for Bing. Her enthusiasm, attentiveness and cheerful disposition was so lovely to experience. The food was delicious.

Bing our server and Mo our chef were fantastic. The food was fresh and delicious, staff were friendly and welcoming and as we came on a Wednesday, it wasn't too busy either. The big cakes are amazing too! Would definitely recommend.

Great food. Ordered variety of food which was all great. Service slightly slower than would have liked but still acceptable.

Roast is normally alright, I mean it's good value for money usually. Yesterday was horrible, the roast potatoes tasted like they was roasted the day before and reheated? Gravy was like water and the guy carving the meat didn't have a clue what he was doing.

Great prices, big portions, massive cakes! The staff that serviced us at the bar and table were both very enthusiastic and such sweet little baby boys! Great experience, highly recommend!

Sunday Roast is good and price is reasonable. A busy Sunday afternoon for the restaurant, we were served by Bing and she was very helpful and friendly!

My family and I had a Sunday carvery. The food was ok, a bit strange they didn't serve peas, but flavours was good and food was hot. All the staff were helpful. There was one particular member of staff called Bing that was funny, friendly, bubbly and incredibly helpful, the cheese cake she recommended was amazing, thanks Bing !

Lovely dining experience getting us ready for the Christmas spirit and lots of good food everyone went for a classic carvery and it certainly didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and the meat was so tender. Are waiter Bing was so nice and certainly made us feel at home with the whole experience. What a great place to eat and I certainly recommend.

Can't fault the quality and value for money of the carvery. Staff all very friendly and welcoming.

Food was very tasty although plates weren't very warm which made go colder quicker. There is a children's play area - be prepared to take your card though as it all costs! If you don't expect restaurant service for the price of carvery, etc it works out good value for money.

One of my favourite eateries in Solihull. Ample parking spaces and free parking for the first three hours. I love their buffet breakfast and carvery very much, in particular, for the carvery, one can have unlimited sides like potatoes and vegetables. The staff are very sincere, friendly and helpful especially Bing who always makes sure the patrons are happy with the food and service. 👍👍👍👍

We were served by Bing, she was very friendly and helpful gave her views on the deserts and which ones she would recommend. We all had carverys and were impressed with the good selection of sides and the quality of the meat, our chefs today were Devin and Jay. As always very impressed with the desserts.

Not the place for Eggs Benedict. It was overcooked and the "toast" it.was old bread. I added avocado on it but the test was eeird. It seems avovlcado was coocked and smashed with vinegar? Weird flavour

I attended for a evening meal a few weeks ago with friends, the evening meal was very nice and had a decent vegan choice. However I went for breakfast on another occasion and it was very disappointing, I had vegetarian sausages which were rock hard, no margerine for the toast, the coffee was awful and there was no alternative milk, in this day and age, no alternative to dairy milk is under acceptable, no consideration for dairy allery auffer

My daughter usually loves coming for a carvery here so after seeing offer for kids eat free at half term decided to pop in before shopping day. I was charged for her breakfast and when queried I was told I needed a code which I didn’t see mentioned on website or Facebook page. On top of that I was charged for two lots of tea or coffee when my daughter dislikes tea and coffee. Not the customer service I would expect especially when practically empty.

Well done Bing for being an excellent hostess and looking after our family last night (26.10.24). We were a table of 9 who had a really good birthday celebration. Chefs Devon and Avin & staff produced lovely meals. Without you guys, there would be no dining experience. We had one person who had a gluten free meal & it was lovely. Absolutely wonderful carvery today. The meat was delicious, and Bing was super friendly and helpful. I was surprised the carvery was so nice. Everything was super tasty. I would say the only thing that let it down was the noise, but that couldn't really be helped with how busy it was. Thank you.

We come here often, but we booked last night for a large party. We received a call hours beforehand to thank us for making the booking, and the service we received from start to finish was exceptional. The food is always so tasty, so well cooked and so so much better than rival carveries in the area. It's now our new go-to place for carvery and cake (their cake is insane and HUGE.) special thank you has to go to Scarlett for being on hand before and during our visit and ensuring that everything went smoothly. They also have a great little kids area in the restaurant so the littles stay occupied too. Would 10/10 recommend.

My family and I have never visited before.We regularly use Toby carvery.Wow the food was cooked to perfection for us all.Really enjoyed the carvery and good portions of meat were served.The cake away was a generous size was a little disappointed that only carrot cake was available but Luckily we all like carrot cake Wow the cake was a LARGE SLICE.Will definitely recommend The Hillfield to all Family and friends

This place has gone down hill the Carrott cake is fake the ecclaire it's not real cream revolting the place is empty due to it going down hill not very nice ice cream either I like a carvery but this place has serious down hill

Came early evening on Tuesday, wasn’t massively busy inside but didn’t feel the cleanest! Waited a while queuing up to pay and then trying to pay. Small carvery seemed to be rather expensive compared to the standard actually. Meat really good at the carvery! Strange no sprouts or peas available but the carrots and parsnips were great! Stuffing was bitty and dry didn’t even want to put any on my plate, was hoping more would be brought out but didn’t want to wait any longer to get anyone’s attention. Nice enough food and selection of cakes too, didn’t expect any available later on in the day! Shame the Yorkshire pudding wraps aren’t available after 5pm. Feel like our plates were taken away very promptly, especially considering usually at a carvery you can help yourself to more veg and mash etc…

Fantastic carvery food, favourite local carvery. Great sundaes and excellent for young kids with the play area.

We went last minute for a meal, ended up having a really nice carvery and our children played in the play area, they weren’t interested in their dinner😆 Not until they saw all the cake and ice cream in the cake bar! We ended up as we were leaving getting 4 different cakes to go and a bowl of the strawberry cheesecake for our girls to share, which was delicious! We will definitely be returning, it was all reasonably priced and the quality was there for the whole meal, the staff were lovely and super helpful :)

Scarlett, jack and Paris were all absolutely lovely and helpful (pay rise) but Kirk and Victoria are absolutely rude and think they need to work on their people skills and attitude because how they speak to their staff is disgusting and their customer service is appalling!!!!

Food was OK. Nothing special. Not really a place I would want to have a birthday meal at. Wasn't my choice to go here.

The service we received from Brooke was amazing as we did have a few problems with the food, the food was well over cooked and some of my family had there food and almost finished their meals before i received my meal. But it was resolved in the end , thank you Brooke for your friendly service

Popped for a meal on Friday afternoon, pretty quiet. Food was good, meat Turkey and beef melted in mouth, well done to Dave and Shaun 5***** Vegetables and potatoes were ok, just a bit dry, hence overall 4 stars. Great service by Bing who was busy cleaning down and serving, very friendly.

this is the worse meal me and my family have ever went to eat the gravy tastes like coffee the meat tastes rotten or something the whole meal was a deaster they shouldn't even be allowed to serve people that nasty food worse meal ive ever had in my life even a child said it was nasty after one moth full BINNED

Great for a cheap and cheerful meal out. Dropped in for a late lunch. 2 of the group went for the midweek special, a small carvery and pudding for £8.99. I had steak pie and chips. All the meals were good and portions for the small meals were great. We were lucky enough to be served by Bing, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. She is so attentive and super friendly.

So this is a tough one to review. The place is lovely, great atmosphere, lovely staff overall experience pretty good! However... I do what I always do, have a couple of drinks before I eat. I was half way down my second drink when I went to pay for a carvery. It was 20:10 and the chef had decided to clear it all away! Considering last food orders are at 21:00 I though almost an hour early was out of order personally. I had watched them bring out a fresh gammon about 30 minutes prior, which I was excited about as that's my go to carvery meat! When I was told they had cleared it away, the gentleman then said it was all going to the waste food service 'to good to go' and the rest was going on the bin. However, I could see that the only thing that'd been taken was the yorkies and the meat. This made me mildly sad. So I opted for fish and chips instead. Great choice, didn't wait long and the fish was cooked to perfection, glistening. But it tasted very very similar to the southern fried chicken they also have on the menu. So it was odd to taste chicken whilst eating fish. Food aside let me talk about the beer. You can tell that they look after the cellar and lines and glasses, as every pint was perfect. As I write this review, my plate was taken away from me by a waitress, I hadn't finished, just taking a break. And she did not say a word to me, 'was everything okay?' Etc... I was going to take the rest away. But nevermind. I'm flabbergasted Edit: I saw a massive selection of cakes, ordered one and also told the gentleman that the lady took my plate before I had finished. And gave me the cake Free. So all is well. Just a bit of communication would have been sufficient enough.

Wow what a place we booked into the Premier inn Solihull near m42 and found this establishment on trip advisor it was only a 10 minute walk away and well worth the effort on first arriving we were served by a very friendly bar man we then decided to try the standard carvery at a well priced £8.99 each this was absolutely spot on we were then pleasantly served by Bing who was so informative about the carvery advising how everything veg etc was fresh you could definitely taste this she was so helpful and people like this are so good to have also a big commendation to the chef Dave his carvery was amazing we will definitely visit again on our next journey to Birmingham Airport
